Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Riviera

Let me start by saying Riviera is a beautiful ship. The staff are exceptionally well trained, friendly, very willing to please and the food is simply the best at sea. So why you may wonder have I given an average rating? Simply the itinerary which for us did not live up to expectation. We were also unfortunate with weather from start to finish. This was our second cruise with Oceania ...

Very impressed, and yet some huge disappointments.

We booked the Concierge Level upgrade for the Mayan Mistique cruise. First the pluses: - Lovely ship, elegant, well appointed mid-sized, never felt crowded, spacious verandah cabin and bathroom, lots of little 'extras' in the cabin - Very courteous if not genuinely friendly crew. - Amazing dining experiences in all specialty restaurants (Polo Grill, Jacques, Red Ginger, Toscana), and ...

Somewhat disapointing after all the hype

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Riviera

Don't get me wrong we had a good time because we had 11 family members and a gang of friends onboard. We are all Crystal veterans giving Oceania a try because they had a much better Christmas itinerary than Crystal this year. Embarkation was a breeze, debarkation was unbelievably tedious, disorganized and my son missed his 11:00AM flight. We were told by Oceania (I called myself) that no ...

Not As Good As Hype

Pros: 1. Food was outstanding. 5-star restaurant quality in the specialty restaurants. 2. Common areas very nice, such as impressive library area, nice fitness room, etc. Cons: 1. Web site makes it so difficult to sign up for a cruise, we almost gave up. 2. Embarkation process poor. Had to wait 3+ hours after boarding until our cabin was ready. They could have sequenced the ...

What happened to Oceania?

Service was below average on this cruise! Cabin was comfortable.Fitness are good. Gambling was closed for the first few days. Tours were miles from ship which would have been ok if they were planned properly. Crew seemed confused most of the time. One saving part were the lectures which were very good. Entertainment was poor. Food excellent but even to get that cup of coffee took too ...

We were on the Riviera for 20 days beginning 12/2, which was directly after the main Noro outbreak, and spent 19 more days in Code Red status (no sugar, salt/pepper, creamers,no pastries in Concierge lounge...no culinary classes except for last 4 days). This was our 3rd cruise with Oceania. Was on the main Cruise Critic Board, where another person was blogging live all the way across from ...

Was I on the wrong cruise line?

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Riviera

This was our first cruise on Oceania and it will be the last. This was our 37th cruise. We chose Oceania as it was my birthday, and my sister's 45 wedding anniversary. 1 - Embarkation in Venice was excellent. 2 - Cabin was excellent but not the attendants. The cabin was made up every day but each and every day there was a requirement to ask for water/soft drink/soap replenishment. This ...

Very "professional" with a lack of "warmth and hospitality"

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Riviera

to be absolutely clear: the Ship is in perfect condition, cabins are well spaced and very well equiped even with marble bathrooms. Teak Deck wherever you go. Food is outstanding (IMHO better than Azamara or Celebrity) and Specialty Restaurants are included. Nevertheless we are a bit disappointed. Why? Let me explain: what we love with cruising is that feeling of a common journey with the Ship, ...

Oceania Luggage Nightmare

Went on our dream cruise that we've been planning for several years. It was my 60th birthday celebration and our 30th wedding anniversary summer. One of the appeals of Oceania was that the airlines and transfers were included in our vacation. However, once we arrived in Italy our bags were not at the Rome Airport. We spent two days in Rome before getting on the ship for an eight day cruise. ...

Because I have traveled with Oceania several times before, I read the recent reviews of Riviera on Cruise Critic. Our travels are always in PH suites. Most, if not all, reviews from persons that have sailed with Oceania before agree that the service has gone down. Many items that I observed that were different from before were noticed, some are written down below. First time Oceania ...
