Let me start with a few positive comments that made me glad I was able to have this experience at least once. The finest thing about the trip was the bed. It was gloriously comfortable. Magical. I move a lot when I sleep and the bed seemed to make me comfortable no matter how much a moved around. Not too hard and not too soft. Cool. Like a dream cloud with support. Amazing. Fine linens, bedding. ...
Overall a pretty good experience for our first time on O. A bunch of little things went wrong and we tried not to let it spoil the whole cruise.
The ship is easy to get around but could use more elevators aft as they are always busy (that's largely where the food is).
Dining ranged from spectacular (La Reserve) to very good (Toscana, Jacques) to surprisingly good (buffet on 12, pool grill) ...
Manly booked this for the itinerary. It was a 12 night - Venice to Barcelona . 11-1-18 to 11-13-18. Excursions were not as described. The stops listed were not accurate. One location did not have the handicrafts village as highlighted. Another town was completely closed on the day we were there. Nothing to see at all! They return you back to the ship 2-3 hours before ship left port. Not ...
We selected this cruise because we liked the ports of call, especially in the beginning of the cruise. We arranged all our excursions privately so I'm not sure how good the ship's excursions were. Many of the named destination cities were long drives (an hour or more) away from the actual ports where we were docked. So the advertising of e.g. Florence and Rome and the Amalfi Coast was a bit of ...
Having Cruised on 5 other lines before was expecting more from a Concierge level room/experience. Selected itinerary due to fixed dates - some ports a repeat others new.
Easy embarkation / disembarkation
Ship layout went from well thought out to just odd. Inside smoking areas where the smoke can enter the bar as no door on the smoking room? Grand bar / Martini bar have obstructed views - ...
We went on this cruise because of the Sonoma wineries' " wine cruise". The Riviera was elegant with impeccable service from all restaurants and cabin sttendants. Receptionists seemed cold and management not responsive. Only Toscana and Jacque's were excellent. Grand Dining Room and Terrace were good. Red Ginger and Polo Grill were so so at best. The biggest disappointment was La Reserve, where at ...
Recommended by a friend.- learned the hard way that Oceania was less concerned about passengers who did not book through them directly.
We booked our airfare and ground transfers through Oceania.
When we arrived in Venice at approximately 9:00am, we had to collect our luggage and walk what we believe was an unreasonable distance to the bus. We were tired after an 8+ hour flight and did not ...
This was our 8th Cruise on Oceania. We sailed May 17, 2018 from Rome to Venice on an 8 day cruise. We've always felt in the past sailing on Oceania was worth the extra cost over some of the mainstream cruiselines. However, changes that Oceania made on this cruise different from other European cruises in the past on the Riveria makes me question which cruise line I will use in the future.
The ...
We got a brochure in the mail (it seems we get one every other day). My husband had heard great things about Oceana, so we decided to call and get some info. The agent for Oceania told us we were getting a great deal, so we bit.
We were looking for the great quality of food aboard. We ended up having to send back 8 entrees because of overcooking the fish. Actually had to send back a filet ...
Embarkation went very well. Quick, organized, efficient and we were able to board earlier than anticipated, which was nice. Toured the ship before anyone got on and got fabulous photos. The Riviera ship is beautiful. Not a bad word could be said about the decor, cleanliness, furnishings, finishings, etc. Just beautiful. The disappointment came at our first dinner. The waiter rushed us and we ...
