We chose this cruise as it was something outside of "tourists everywhere" which seems to be the case with most popular cruises. We also prefer the intimacy of River Cruising ships with their small number of passengers. WE also much prefer cruising where ALL excursions, gratuities etc are included in the overall price. We had traveled with Scenic once before and knew they were a high class ...
We chose this cruise as we really wanted to visit Russia and this seemed the perfect way to do it. It was our first experience with Scenic. We went in October for the last cruise of the year from Volvograd to Moscow. We knew the weather would be colder but with the right clothing it was never a problem and we certainly appreciated the ease of our excursions with the reduced number of tourists. ...
It was the best experience I’ve ever had. The staff was so wonderful and I loved our enrichment classes. Sasha and Alexie gave us incredible history lessons. I loved Russia, I think about my trip and Russia daily. I dream of returning to this beautiful country and hope I get to meet up again with the people I met through Viking.
This was my first Viking cruise but won’t be my last Our ...
Our ship was berthed in Moscow for 3 nights the last cruise of this season.
We had a portside cabin. We were in front of the main terminal building which was in process of being refurbished. Next year it will be beautiful, unfortunately for us we were looking at an ugly construction site with piles of trash & garbage. If we where one berth over on either side we could have been looking at green ...
We got a great deal to go on the last cruise of the season. Free airfare and a reduced price. The weather was not good, it rained or was cloudy nearly every day which was not the fault of Viking. The food was excellent and the waitstaff could not be more friendly and accommodating. they had things to do while sailing such as lessons in basic Russian and Russian history which helped when ...
We had travelled this cruise a few years ago and wished to revisit the sights because there is so much to take in. Our friends joined us on this cruise as they had heard so much about it from us over the years that they wanted to see the sights of Russia themselves. As we have all travelled with Viking before we are familiar the standard of service, food and entertainment, hence our reason for ...
We have done many river cruises and loved them all. But this one was unique and special. We would have been nervous to travel to Russia alone due to the language and logistics issues. Viking made this experience a breeze. They had done the research regarding interesting locations, timing, informative speakers, cultural sites, excellent tour guides, and regional foods. All we had to do was sit ...
St. Petersburg takes a bare minimum of three days. It far surpasses Buckingham Palace, the Vatican, or the Luorve. It was absolutely jaw dropping. If you are on this website, it is a must do, and soon.
Akun was very clean and well designed. Russia limits the ships, so it is not as fancy as Europe. Room was good, bath was small but well laid out.
Food far exceeded what I expected. ...
We (2 couples) took the Sept-5-17 Volga Dream Cruise with 4 nights at Moscow and 4 nights at St Petersburg, with cruise from Moscow to St Petersburg for 6 nights.
We wanted to stay at Moscow and St Petersburg for the city visits and Volga Dream Cruise program provides this. For most cruise lines, you need to stay in the ship and have to be transported to the cities daily for the tours. The ...
Everything about the cruise was great. The places visited, particularly St Petersburg and Moscow, were interesting. The guides who traveled all the way with us were knowledgeable and their talks on board were well worth attending as they gave a history of Russia.
The stops along the way were generally very interesting, and the 'local guides' were also generally of a high standard.
The food ...
