Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Michelangelo

This was a most enjoyable cruise, the standard of service was excellent, the food very generous and high-quality, and all the staff were extremely helpful. I have now booked to go with them on the Rhone on 7th May, as I was so impressed. Although I was the only English-speaking tourist on board, this was no real problem as the other cruisers were mainly French or Spanish, and at my table, Swiss. ...

Two seniors from Phoenix in response to a bucket list item - never taken a river cruise before. Arrived 1 night prior to boarding after a frustrating flight experience. On boarding day Tu 10-24 arrived at the dock, met by an Avalon person on the sidewalk to help with luggage, checked it in and left for the Rijksmuseum to await cabin entry at 4pm. Ship parked at Amsterdam Tuesday night. Wed. ...

I was having a big birthday & wanted to treat myself to revisit Venice after 50 years or so. The cruise began with two days in a hotel in Milan then moved along to the cruise ship to cruise the Po river & Venice lagoon for the next week. I did sign up for an optional trip to Lago di Como from Milan but on that tour we spent most of our time on the bus due to so much traffic to & from. ...

Avalon does it right! Boat was in excellent condition, crew was fabulous. Adding the Happy hour was an excellent way to start your evening on board. Never had to wait for a drink, the service was impeccable. All meals on board are delicious & service in the dining room is top notch. Seating very comfortable with tables available for two, four ,and a few larger tables for bigger ...

This was our second Avalon cruise. We did the Saone and Rhone river cruise last year through Burgundy and Provence and had a great experience with Avalon so we decided to go with them again. There was also a $250.00 per person incentive for returning patrons. This cruise began in Amsterdam with stops in Cologne, Rudesheim, Heidelberg, Strasbourg, Breach, Basel, and finally Lucerne. The ...

We traveled aboard the Philae with Tauck and were onboard Sept. 9-13. The ship is wonderful. It is intimate and very well appointed. The cabins are spacious, the crew was incredible and very service oriented. The food on board was delicious and fresh. There were always several delicious options to choose from at each meal. The pool water looked a little murky- but otherwise, our experience was ...

Took cruise to see the iconic sights of France- Province regions. Great seeing France. Lovely wineries and scenes. Great history. Overall a lot of money for having to serve myself twice a day with buffet. Standing in a lineup to get food everyday and jostling for seating each meal. Food seemed rationed. Continental Breakfast for early birds was small muffins and croissant and a couple of ...

First River Cruise

This was to be our first river cruise after exclusively going on ocean cruises. We weren't sure if it would be what we are interested in. We chose a shorter cruise (8 days) on a less travelled river to avoid larger crowds. It is a different experience never being out of sight of land and all activities on board occurring at a fixed time. It is also very different travelling with 120 passengers ...

Traveling to these counties was somewhere we had never been. The actual cruise was terrific. The pre-trip was fine, nothing great. The guides and excursions were usually just an average. One in Vidin Bulgaria was terrific. Nothing in context with regards to history or inclusion (lots of churches and according to guides no synagogues, even when they were 1 or 2 blocks away) and we found them on ...
