This was our fourth Uniworld River Cruise and it was a pleasure to take another trip. The sites were wonderful and the staff was superb as always. My only regret was that the room was the smallest that we've had on Uniworld although this was the last trip for this ship so I'm sure it will be up to world-class standards once the renovations are complete. The tour guides for each excursion were very skilled and informative and every request was satisfied. The staff was simply outstanding and made every effort to make the trip a pleasure for everyone aboard. The only suggestion I would make is that we did not spend enough time at the D-Day beaches - we wasted a considerable amount of time on a bus getting to the beaches. It would be preferred to dock much closer to the site to allow another 2-3 hours at the site. This may indeed be in the plan for future trips. Read Less

We arrived in Paris 2 days before our cruise and spent the time seeing the Parisian sites. We didn't realize that lunch was available on board the first day before the ship embarked on our cruise, so take advantage of that. Our ship the River Baroness was lovely, but our cruise was its very last as it is being retired. A couple we were with commented about how small the cabin was, but we didn't feel it was a problem. The food was excellent as was the service. Each night if you did not want an of the three entree choices, there was always a choice of steak or chicken. We enjoyed all the excursions especially the one to the beaches of Normandy and the American Cemetery. There was lots of walking on the tours but they did have a group for gentle walkers if needed. All alcohol was included in the cruise price, so that was a bonus. Each afternoon and evening there was entertainment that was mainly someone playing a keyboard. It was my first river cruise and I discovered that I like river cruising. It is because I am shy and loved that everything was planned; we had a guide who spoke French whenever we were out and about and our tours were all organized for us and we had choices each day as to what we wanted to do. I loved that the ship was our hotel room and we did not need to move from place to place. Can't wait to go again. Read Less

Cruise went through Normandy which we had always wanted to see. The trip to the D Day beaches was very emotional and overwhelming at the same time. You actually could spend days there, but we only had the one day. Seeing the American Cemetery was heartbreaking. The cruise director, Tania was wonderful and the guides we had at every stop were extremely knowledgeable and very entertaining! Our favorites were Barbara, Evelyn and Denise. They were truly amazing and the level of knowledge and history they shared was unbelievable! Loved the boutique cruise as it wasn't crowded. Our stateroom was very comfortable and the food was fabulous! I was even able to squeeze in a fabulous massage one afternoon as a special treat. Every staff member was extremely courteous and did everything they could to make this trip special. We will definitely use UniWorld again and look forward to our next adventure with a top of the line cruise! Read Less

My wife and I went on the cruise from Paris to Normandy on the River Baroness in september. The ship is beautifully presented and decorated with the rooms being top class although a little smaller than we expected especially the bathroom .However this was an older boat which was about to be retired.Apart from this the staff ,amenities and facilities were fantastic. The food wine and dining experiences at breakfast ,lunch and dinner were excellent .Each night the program was explained to all and the choices for each were amazing from historical sites to culinary experiences and all were led by english speaking guides. All the staff were friendly ,helpful and great fun whilst being very professional. We even had a artist on board giving portrait lessons which were very educational and fun.We visited such things as Monets Garden, richard the lionhearts castle ,Rouen , Normandy Beaches and cemetary and MoulinRouge. We would highly recommend this cruise to anyone who wants to enjoy top class cruising.Well DONE UNIWORLD Read Less

This was our first river cruise, and the Uniworld Cruise Line was highly recommended to us. I can now understand why. The ship, our suite, the crew, the dining, and the service were impeccable. From embarkation to disembarkation, we were treated like royalty. Our every wish was accommodated even before we knew what we wanted. Ours was called a "Generation Cruise" meaning there were families with children aboard. We found all the passengers to be extremely congenial and the children to be delightful. In fact, we spent considerable time with another couple, and have kept in close contact with them since returning home. I would absolutely recommend Uniworld for river cruising in complete comfort and stunning surroundings. We have already planned our cruise with Uniworld for 2017. I would be remiss to fail to mention our personal butler who was attentive to every detail. Our laundry would be collected in the morning, and returning carefully hung and folded each afternoon. Special mention of the wait staff in the dining room who were not only completely dedicated and courteous, but also congenial and very friendly. We hope to meet them again on another Uniworld cruise. Uniworld came highly recommended by our travel agent. It did not disappoint! We sailed from Paris to Normandy. The tour guides were excellent. The ship's staff were superb and well beyond expectations. The food was excellent and they provided gluten free bread to our traveling companion who is intolerant. The wine selections were great and we learned about them each evening before dinner. We were in a suite and had the services of a butler and we learned not to say, "I wish" because it would happen. Housekeeping was perfect and never intrusive. We had the occasion to have one of the passages have a medical issue on a bus tour and were sent to a hospital. They sent a staff member to coordinate services and help get her back to the ship. They have three levels of ways to basically see the same sites. They had active, regular and relaxed pace so that guests with different capabilities could easily tour. This cruise had a young travelers program that appeared to be excellent. Read Less

We began on June 14 in Paris to Normandy on the River Baroness--very small cabins, but manageable--crew in total were FANTASTIC. The same goes for the food and service we received. There was an air of closeness--in a good way. We traveled with friends and we all agreed the feeling on the ship was close and sort of family like....we thoroughly enjoyed it. A lot is made of the small size of the cabins 125sq including bathroom, however it is manageable once you accept the idea you will be crowded. We did and it made us use the the drawer space, closets, vanity, etc. Doing that we found no real issue with the cabin. The decor and bath amenities are all first class. The ship is first class in every way. It may be 20 years old, but it is in great shape and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was outstanding and the service impeccable. We took advantage of one of the special dining nights, where you dine on the top deck in an enclosed glassed room and they have a special menu. The special dining experience is limited to 24 persons and they only do it two nights because of the issue with the bridges and needing to keep the glass room collapsed. The meal was fabulous!! The entertainment on board is music in the lounge and very nice. The excursions were typical river cruise....8 am to noon and then you have the afternoon off. They did have a couple of optional excursions, but neither were inviting to us. Since my wife and I had just been to Normandy for 5 days in September, and since our traveling buddies had never been, we rented a car and did the touring on our own. The boat was tied up for two nights in Rouen and they were doing the bus thing one day with limited sights and a city tour of Rouen the second day. In renting the car we were able to cover St. Mere Eglise, Utah Beach, St. Marie Du Mont, Point du Hoc, Omaha Beach, American Cementary, Bayeaux & Bayeaux cathedral, Arromanches, etc. over the two days we had.
