just returned from south american cruise and was very very disappointed. We have cruised multiple times and have not seen the poor quality of ship and most of managerial staff.
service was terrible. They DO NOT supply bar of soap, have one outlet in mini suite, give you two skimpy towels and you cannot reach room service. Only soap available is shower soap
I had a mini suite with no assigned ...
Having read fellow travellers reviews, I wanted to provide our opinion following our South America trip recently.
Ship
The Zaandam ship is on the small side by today’s standards (1400 passengers) but that does mean you do get to know the staff and fellow cruisers. The ship was well maintained, clean and comfortable. We opted for an outside cabin, mid ships, on the main deck due to the ...
Cruise selected based on the itinerary. We had 2 issues that we escalated to guest services and were made to feel they did not care at all. Our cabin was hot and after technician checked and temperature was 22.9 Celcius,. i was told by Guest Services, they could do nothing andthere were no other cabins to move. it was a blatant lie, I know this because due to flooding of several cabins later in ...
The cruise was chosen as part of travel package. I have cruises before, but this was the worst for the following reasons:
- Lack of food choices and repetitive. They serve pasta and spaghetti with light sauce, lack of flavouring
- Entertainment all in Spanish (good for South American passengers)
- Day of departure (must leave room by 8am)
- Restaurants- can not chose where to sit and ...
Dining in main dining room was average. However, the dining in the specialty restaurants was very good. Liked the choice of 5 dining options. High cost for tours. Best decision is to organize a private tour on Cruise Critic and use Tours by Locals. Overall service was very good. The butler was excellent and the cabin service was very good. Prices in the shops was way out of line. No general ...
I chose this cruise as a surprise Christmas present for my wife. We had been away from cruising for a couple years, and I remembered our Antarctic cruise with Crystal - just how great it was. Never been to Brazil, and now to see the refurbished Symphony - this was almost a "no brainer."
I'm still a fan of traditional dining (not "any time"), and Crystal did that very well in the past. I'm ...
My wife and I are recently retired and have long wanted to cruise an "around the horn" itinerary. This Holland America cruise fit the bill the perfectly. Overall, an outstanding cruise, a decent value and a great itinerary.
We departed from Rio de Janeiro. Our flight departed the east coast for Miami on Halloween. Many of the airport and airline employees were in costume and having a good ...
The Zaandam is our new favourite ship. Its smaller size means fewer decks and less crowding. Our cabin on deck 6 was one deck above the fixed-time dining room and most public areas, and just two decks below the lido. It is practical to use the stairs rather than the elevators. Less crowding meant that we did not have to show up at least half an hour early to sit together for performances in the ...
We chose this cruise because we could start our holiday in Rio de Janeiro, which is one of our two favourite destinations for overseas holidays. We knew we would get some warm winter sunshine, so precious for people in Britain. Of course as people know Rio is a fabulous place, having a wonderful coastline, lots of places to visit and a big vibrant city. The people are very kind and helpful and go ...
Wanted to see Rio and the Christ the Redeemer statue. Also, having cruised the western end (Peru) of the Amazon, we were interested in seeing the eastern end. From a nature and wildlife perspective, the Peruvian Amazon was much better and far less commercial. The small cruise ship there, however, only held about a dozen passengers and was nowhere nearly as luxurious as the Muse. Regarding the ...
