Disappointed - missed ports; sleepless nights

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Seven Seas Voyager

Chose this cruise as we had wanted to visit the Falkland Islands, and see Antarctica. Was unsure if a true expedition cruise would be too challenging, however, in the end would much have preferred a true expedition experience (with use of Zodiacs, etc). We chose Regent as we had travelled on the Splendor in 2021, and had a positive experience throughout the Mediterranean and trans ...

Frustration and Disappointment

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Marina

First I want to state that we were very excited to take this cruise and had high expectations given Oceania’s reputation. We had recently taken Holland America across the Pacific and expected this to be even better. We were terribly disappointed. The very first problem was the embarkation. The pier in Rio is large and there were 2 other ships in port at the time. It was also very crowded with ...

Nice ship, sad itinerary

Review for a South America Cruise on Norwegian Star

I am a Sapphire level cruiser with NCL. I have enjoyed cruising with them for years. I chose this cruise because I was in Brazil at the time and the cruise departed from Rio de Janeiro. The ship was recently refurbished and was in excellent shape. It is a smaller, older ship, and has few whistles and bells. It was kept immaculately clean. The crew were phenomenal, always friends and caring, ...

We chose this particular cruise because the itinerary and dates matched what we wanted so we were excited to try Oceania, having heard great things. We stayed in cabin 10015, which was the lowest Penthouse Suite Category. Overall, the cruise was *good*. The food was good but not great except for Polo Grill, which was fabulous. The most aggravating thing about the food experience was not being ...

Just OK

Review for a South America Cruise on Silver Muse

I have sailed Silver Seas more than 600 days and got to know and befriend the crew on other ships. Knowing that SS chose the cream of the crew for Muse I wished to join them. The crew exceeded my expectations. As the ship is new there were very few visual or maintenance problems. The inexpensive art works were not great. My major problem was the dining experience. Firstly, and mainly, the in cabin ...

Mediocrity at its best

Review for a South America Cruise on Zaandam

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. Ports were fantastic and weather was great. Smooth seas at their best. The ship is a different story. Dining room service was extremely slow. One night we waited over 1 1/2 hours before being served and the excuse was "The kitchen is backed up" Hard to believe at 5:30 PM--open seating. Two meals at the Pinnacle Grill were fantastic. ...

went to BRAZIL, URUGUAY & ARGENTINA. it was all good EXCEPT Im not a fan of NCL. Food is ONLY okay, excursions are waaaaaay overpriced, employees selling CRUISE NEXT are not upfront with the fine print so I canceled and I truly think its despicable that the beverage packages are soooooooooo overpriced. Im not a water drinker but being deprived of water isnt compatible with life~!! I can see ...

Not 5 Stars

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and because we had heard that Regent was a 5 star experience. Our last cruise was on Oceania Nautica and we had absolutely loved it. We decided to try Regent with it's all-inclusive liquor and excursions. First, what we liked: Our cabin was great (Penthouse with a fabulous butler). The all-inclusive liquor meant we didn't feel nickel-and-dimed at every ...

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Review for a South America Cruise on Norwegian Sun

The Good –the Itinerary & the Weather; The bad – the Dining; The Ugly – NCL’s Nickel & Diming We decided on this cruise because of the itinerary and the opportunity to visit Iguazu Falls post cruise. Embarkation was shambolic. Queue for luggage drop off, queue for health documents, long walk or shuttle to ship, long queue to check in. We later learnt that this was because the ship was too ...

Review for a South America Cruise on Queen Victoria

What a difference a year makes. Early 2016, Queen Victoria, Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco via the Panama Canal, great cruise, great service, could not wait to book a cruise on this vessel for 2017. Early 2017 Rio to Valparaiso. Apart from being on the same vessel just about everything else was just plain bad. It started in Rio, took three hours to check in and the chaos had to be seen ...
