I may not be a cruising connoisseur, this was my 4th, but i found it hard to complain about anything on this Greek Isle cruise out of Venice. Our traveling companions all agreed. The ship was late leaving Venice (6 ships were leaving that night), but I don't blame the cruise line for that. It did make our 1st stop (Kotor Montenegro) VERY short. I had read that Rhapsody was really needing a makeover due to it's age.We found everything furnished nicely & clean. The crew were all friendly & helpful. The food in the Windjammer & DR was very good.I really liked the size of this ship for older couples (65-69). There was a comedy/string quartet show that was very unique & entertaining & we also liked the magician! My sister commented on how she had forgotten that all crew members on the ship really just want all passengers to be happy & have fun! Lots of live music. Our Jr. suites were very spacious. Much larger than our hotel room in Venice! We had 8538 & 8540. Right past the elevators & through the atrium. Loved the location of our hotel in Venice - Hotel Arlecchino. Rooms were tiny, but quaint. The 5 euro breakfast was amazing! The return hotel - The AC Marriott was more modern, but way overpriced (in my opinion). This cruise definitely made me want to book another ASAP!! Read Less

Our family of 6 adults were very pleased with our cruise on Rhapsody of the Seas. First, in terms of any negativity I would acknowledge our cabin and some areas of the ship are a bit basic and jaded in appearance. The Windjammer can be very hectic and a little difficult to get seating but with patience and perseverance an enjoyable meal can be had. Very harsh, expensive and unfair that all persons in each cabin are obliged to purchase the same drink package. Overall though we were very satisfied with our choice of ship/cruise and had a marvellous holiday. Main Compliments; Standard of service; Excellent in all areas of the ship. The many staff we encountered were amazing. Restaurants - Quality of food and service exceptional. We opted for My Time dining in the evening in the main restaurant and this suited our needs and daily plans extremely well. We had the experience of being served at two different tables and at both the service was excellent. Mostly we were at a table being served by Eddie and Samson. These gents could not be bettered. Professional, humourous and friendly. Deck 9 Pool Area - great atmosphere and staff excellent. Entertainment- Very good. Some great shows in the theatre. Listening though to Alfonso play piano and tell jokes in the Schooner bar was our main choice most evenings. The mostly all girls band from the Philippines were also fabulous. Read Less

We found this cruise to be an excellent bargain. We were able to get a Jr. Suite in the back of the ship for UNDER 2k per person. CABINS: Rhapsody is NOT R.C.'s newest boat, and it shows. However, those criticizing the ship failed to mention the efforts made to keep it clean as a whistle. THAT showed more than its age, in my opinion. We were actually very impressed and pleased with our cabin. Yes, it was old and needs a re-vamping, but it was clean, spacious, and the beds were SO comfy. The only reason there's not five stars from me was due to the strange "warm water" we had that never wanted to get cold. Jose, our steward was warm and personable. Our balcony was HUGE! I could have cartwheeled across it!!! All six members of our party loved the balconies and we spent plenty of time out on them, too. DINING: We bought three visits to specialty restaurants. I was disappointed in the lack of explanation prior to boarding that we were given, regarding the main dining room, however. We had trouble getting into it on the last three days of the cruise. Whether or not reservations were required prior to boarding was confusing. CHOPS and GIOVANNI'S TABLE were the two specialty restaurants we dined at. I was disappointed in CHOPS. The second night we went, the crab cake was granular in texture and NOT up to the same quality as the first night of the cruise, which had been our first visit. The meat/preparation was "okay", but definitely lacked the superior service/quality of Celebrity, which we've cruised on before. EDELWEISS, the main dining room, was quite good and the shrimp cocktail shrimp were HUGE! Really enjoyed that appetizer. R.C. also makes mean apple pie! EMBARKATION: All went smoothly. We had zero complaints regarding the staff and associates with whom we made contact. That being said, I do NOT recommend cruises out of Venice. Venice is more expensive, due to its problematic location and transportation is truly an issue if you don't plan ahead. If you plan on leaving from this port, do your homework! Getting from the airport to hotels takes planning. I'm glad to have seen the city, but much prefer ports with easier access. SERVICE: I gave three stars regarding service. There were several times when I encountered crew members who seemed unfriendly or terse. Sometimes that came across in tone of voice or body language. Not good in this industry. Often service was slow in the dining rooms, including the specialty restaurants. Expect seated dinners to last a full two hours, or more. Dining service was usually attentive, however. One of the head waiters even shelled my tiger shrimp for me "a table". Nice touch! EXCURSIONS: We typically have our excursions booked prior to boarding. It really helps save time. Most of them were on buses with cramped seating and A.C. that was NOT adequate. 45-50 people would be packed into this space. In Crete, our excursion's location was 2.5 hrs. away. We should have had a MUCH more comfortable bus. The guide was excellent, however, and made the discomfort worth it. Athens was terribly crowded the day we were there. I've been before, and I love that city, but the crowds pretty much ruined the day for us. We did the City Walls tour in Dubrovnik, and I HIGHLY recommend it. However, be ready for some serious walking and exercise. You will get a workout! VALUE OVERALL: This was our first cruise on R.C. We would definitely use them again, though we still feel that Celebrity has higher quality food, better service, and fewer screaming children. :) Read Less

We chose this cruise based on the itinerary - we had never been to Venice, Split, Athens or Katakolon before. As our last cruise was on the newest & biggest Symphony OTS we were expecting Rhapsody to be rather small and worn out. However we were very positively surprised when we got in! Although some of the designs (e.g. colour schemes on the carpets) were a bit dated, there was no wear & tear visible anywhere! Also even though there are less venues than on Oasis-class, there is more to do onboard than can be done on a one week cruise. I'd say this ship is a great entry point to first time cruisers! Embarkation was very smooth, and right after a quick lunch we got our cabins promptly at 2 PM - evern our luggage was already waiting for us then! The highlight of the ship was the food & beverage! Especially high quality of the food in Main Dining and Windjammer was way above expectations. We did 3 speciality restaurants (Izumi, Giovanni's and Chop's) which all met (but didn't exceed) our expectations. There were never big lines for bars and e.g. in the pool area the waiters were always available. Actually all the service onboard worked pretty much flawlessly with the exception of long waits for service in half-empty Chop's... The musicians and bands onboard were great, hence I was quite surprise the production shows didn't seem to use a live band. Actually the production shows were the part that would most need improvement: there performers were very skilled, but the "plots" and songs selected for shows were a bit confusing and didn't seem to get the audience going. As the ship docks very close to city center in Split we decided to walk around the city on our own - beautiful and very welcoming city! For Athens we took the RCCL Akropolis & Plaka tour, the early wake-up call was worth it because we managed to get to Parthenon just ahead of the big crowds. Also this tour left just the right amount of free time to explore a bit on our own. In Katakolon we took the Ancient Olympos & winery tour. The Olympos part was great, but as we know a lot about winemaking the winery part was a bit of a let down. But if you've never been to a winery then you'll propably enjoy it. Overall I would definately do Rhapsody again if I found an itinerary with now ports-of-call! Read Less

We chose this cruise to visit Dubrovnik as we had been denied the chance on a previous cruise due to very bad weather. We encountered a delay at Heathrow due to the baggage handling system breaking down but the flight to Venice was ok. We had a private transfer arranged to the ship but they were not there to greet us instead after some running around we were amalgamated with two other groups and taken to the ship. Check in was slow considering we had completed all the forms on line before leaving having to repeat the documents seem very inefficient. Our balcony cabin was ready and plenty big enough for the three of us, the decor was tired but clean. Muster was different in that we went out on deck under the lifeboats without life jackets and assembled in groups, the staff having checked everybody was there did the demonstrations. We chose my time dining and this work out well for us, the food and service in the main dinning room was good and we stuck to this for the whole cruise. One of my cruise pleasures is to be waited on at breakfast and have polite conversation, unfortunately this was denied by the buffet style in the main dining room which was poor compared to the windjammer self service offering. No in cabin kettles so coffee either from noisy pool side , busy cafe or a speciality in a paper cup with nowhere to sit. The shows in the evening were reasonable and varied. The weather was excellent and the ports we visited interesting but the over casualness of cruise and lack of basic dress sense detracted. Read Less

When we decided we wanted to cruise the Med, the itinerary and price point were very important to us. We have cruised several times before on DCL and Celebrity, however, we wanted to save the money for excursions and extra time in Italy. We chose the 7 night Croatia and Greece cruise to celebrate high school graduations and birthdays. We cruised as a party of 15. Prior to embarkation, we spent 4 days exploring Florence and 1 night in Venice. Loved both of the cities. We arrived at the port around 11:30 am via water taxi and check in was easy. Soon after, we were on deck 4 with our embarkation drinks. We were able to secure our specialty dining reservations for the cruise (we purchased the 3-night dinner package but ended up going the 4th night since the dining room food was not very good) which was handled quickly for our large party. By 1:00, staterooms were ready. We met our cabin attendant, Marilyn, who was exceptional. We always like to give a tip to our attendants on day 1 to show our appreciation to their hard work- they are truly like ninjas- coming into the room, cleaning, and leaving before we get back from a meal. We asked for ice daily and she freshened it twice a day. Dining: The main dining room food was not very good. Sometimes it came out cold, the quality was just OK, and drinks took a very long time to come. We only ate at the main dining room twice for dinner and twice for breakfast. Entertainment and Activities: We loved trivia in Schooners Lounge! So much fun and the bartenders and servers there were fantastic. On sea days, we would have liked to have more activities for the kids and adults. We did participate in wine tasting, which was just OK. On this ship, the rock wall and a tiny arcade was the only thing our 13 yr. old kids enjoyed. The shows were nothing spectacular- reminded me of Las Vegas lounge entertainment. The only show we enjoyed was a "magician- comedian". The ports were great! We really loved seeing this part of the world and took advantage of our excursions. Overall, we had a great time. There were some disappointments along the way, (main dining room, older ship, lack of activities on a sea day) but nothing that would keep us from cruising RCCL again. Read Less

We chose this cruise based on the ports of call and that it was out of Tampa (closer to us). We got on the boat around noon and our luggage wasn't delivered until around 4pm (after sailing), so definitely pack swimsuits, etc. on a carry on if you want to swim, etc. right away. Our room was ready at 1:30, so that was nice to be able to get in to change, but if not, there are restrooms scattered around you can use. The late dining (8:00pm) was a little late and often conflicted with shows, events happening, so I don't know that we'd do late dining again, but it was nice to not have to hurry back from excursions for the 5:30 dining either. They do have a "my time" dining that you can book and then each night make a reservation for whatever time you want, but it was fun to have a set table with others to get to know. The windjammer food wasn't that great, and the food was often cold. But, it's an option as well. We absolutely loved our excursions and could not have asked for better ones! We did the Maya Chan Beach Resort in Costa Maya (booked online not with RCC), the Jaguar Paw Ultimate Thrill Adventure (4wheeling, zipling and cave tubing) (booked directly with RCC) in Belize City, and the Premier 3-Stops Snorkel Adventure (RTF6A - booked with RCC) in Roatan. We could have done without Cozumel but it was busy with 3 other ships that day. If you're traveling without kids, the Solarium was very nice and quiet (16+ yrs old). Right behind the little cafe in the solarium, there are doors that go out onto a very nice, quiet balcony. We didn't discover those until the last at sea day, but if you don't have a balcony cabin, make sure you find these early on! Read Less

Chose this one because I had never sailed to Caribbean before and this seemed perfect. Plenty of shore excursions, food practically whenever you want it, crew that never stops trying to please you. My fave is the towel animals our stateroom attendant, Manuel, surprised us with every evening. If I could change one thing about the staterooms, it would be the showers. They are just so small, you can barely turn around. Water pressure was excellent though, and there is ample storage space in the cabin for all your stuff. The shore excursions I chose were Cucumber Beach in Belize, and Sol y Mar relaxing day in Honduras. There were plenty of options in choosing shore excursion, though. We docked in Costa Maya, and the pier walk is quite long. In Belize, we used tenders to get to port, as the reefs prevent ships from getting too close. It's a 5-mile ride and takes about 25 minutes. In Honduras and Cozumel, we docked, and again, the pier was really long in Cozumel. There are plenty of street vendors in each port. Please beware that prices are not as low as one might expect at most places, so buyer beware. It is best to review the daily Compass provided by RC to see which businesses are certified by the cruise line industry. Read Less

My 9 yo son and I took this 7 night cruise while he was out of school on spring break. I've been on half a dozen ships, but this was our first with RCL. We had a blast! We did excursions at every port, dined in the MDR each night, I purchased the deluxe drink packaged and VOOM combo, and we went to a couple of shows. The basic rundown: Itinerary/excursions: Key West, Cozumel, Belize, and Costa Maya. We love adventures and this itinerary was amazing! We did the Conch Train tour of KW. Loved it. Fun and informative, lasted about an hour, plenty of time to explore on our own once it was over. Went to Playa del Carmen from Cozumel and did the snorkel/cenote combo excursion. Skip the snorkeling and just go to a cenote. It is unlike anything we've ever done! We loved it! Snorkeled in Belize. The best snorkeling ever. Like swimming in an aquarium. Mayan ruins in Costa Maya. Very cool. I would absolutely do this exact same itinerary again, when it goes to Honduras, and only switch up a couple of excursions. They were that much fun! Ship: Smaller with a little age on her, but the size made it easy to meet and see the same people all week. My son made friends at the pool and we'd see the families every night in the Centrum and talk about our days. The ship and crew had a nice, intimate feel b/c of the size. I enjoyed that. The overall aesthetic of the ship could use a little updating, but that's low on my priority list. Crew: Fabulous, fun, and had a familiar vibe. My son loved the deck games like belly flop and crew vs. guest volleyball. And the dancing. Food: MDR was always delicious. Wine selection was very nice. I found a rose and chardonnay I kept going back to. Windjammer was only so-so. Park Cafe was awesome! Entertainment: The headliners were okay. I wasn't blown away, but nothing was terrible. The nightly music at the various lounges was more fun. Our favorite was going to the Centrum/R bar, listening to music and then participating in the activity/game before our 8pm seating. VOOM: My package included the surf and stream and I never had a single issue with going online or texting. I could post pictures, my son played games, and we even facetimed with family back home. Meet & Mingle: I thought RCL did a great job with the M&M. Nice prizes, got the guests involved, continental breakfast available, and the CD hosted and made it entertaining. Embarkation and Disembarkation: THE fastest I've ever gotten on and off a ship. Hats off to the terminal in Tampa and the RCL staff. They're efficient yet personable. I was very impressed. All in all, one of the best cruises we've been on! We will definitely cruise with Royal again. Read Less

This was the first cruise for our family (mom, dad, and kids ages 12, 15, and 17). It exceeded our expectations in every way and we are looking forward to cruising again with RC. Rhapsody is apparently an older and smaller ship that lacks most of the amenities of the newer and larger ships in the RC fleet. However, there was plenty to do on board with the shows, pool, and games/activities. The food in the main dining room and buffet was excellent. My wife has a severe wheat allergy and she had no problems finding gluten free food on board. Our waiter went out of his way to accommodate her and there were many good gluten free options at the buffet too. One concern at the buffet was cross-contamination, but this did not turn out to be an issue. Overall, the service was outstanding and the waiters, servers, and staff aboard the ship were friendly and met our every need. Our kids did not like the teen activities aboard the ship, but they did participate in most of the games, trivia, and shows and (of course) swimming and rock climbing. We did not drink alcohol or gamble so I can't comment on that aspect of the cruise. Shore excursions: Kohunlich and Dzibanche Mayan ruins is an excursion from Costa Maya. This is a combined excursion in which you see both sites, not just the Kohunlich site. Our family (including the kids) loved this excursion. The bus ride to the pyramids is about 2 hours, but in the process you get to see a lot of the region including many non-touristy Mexican villages. The guide also provides you with a lot on information about the region and Mayan history and culture. The best part about this trip was that there were so many ruins to explore and so few people at the sites. In most cases, our group of about 20 people were the only people at the sites. I think this is because we did not go on the shorter (Kohunlich only) excursion and the sites were far from the cruise port. We also liked the fact that you can climb the ruins and take awesome pictures. The two sites (which are about a 15 min drive part) are awesome. The tour gives you snacks, a sandwich, and plenty of bottled water which is also nice. Overall, this day long excursion is outstanding and is much better than staying in Costa Maya which seems to be a tourist trap. Barrier reef snorkeling is an excursion from Belize City. You take a tender boat from the ship to a private island about 30 mins away. The island is very small and beautiful. They provide you with snorkeling equipment, split you into groups about about 20-25 and then lead your around the reef. If you are inexperienced (like us), you can use a life vest to float. More experienced snorkelers were separated into a different group. Our group consisted of two guides who pointed out fish, coral, and other sea creatures (e.g., barracuda, sting ray) and sometimes picked them up so we could touch them (e.g., star fish). There are also several people in kayaks watching over us to make sure everyone is safe. Overall, it was a lot of fun. After snorkeling, you can swim, relax on the beach, or drink Belize bottled Cokes. The trip home on the tender as awesome too because everybody got some rum punch. Yes, I do mean everybody! Beach horseback ride and swim is an excursion out of Roatan. You take a small van on a 30 minute ride to the beach on the other side of the island. In the process, you get to see some pretty impoverished areas of Roatan. The private beach itself is absolutely beautiful. Be aware that you will need to bring some money with you to rent a locker ($10) and water shoes ($3) if needed. You may also want money for food and drinks. We spent 1 hour swimming and looking at crabs, fish, and other sea creatures after our horse ride. The horse ride itself is about 45 minutes long and a lot of fun - especially when the horses wade in the water. None of us are expert riders and we had no problem. The guide will walk with you and provide you with any help you need. They offer pictures for $100 (54 pictures total), which is a lot, but the pictures themselves were outstanding. My wife and I agree that this location (and pictures) were the prettiest of the entire trip. The amazing secret river is an excursion offered out of Cozumel. You take a ferry from Cozumel to the mainland (Playa del Carmen) and then a short bus ride to the secret river. The total trip to the Secret River is approximately 45-55 mins. The secret river itself is absolutely beautiful - perhaps the highlight of our trip. We were split into small groups of about 10 people with 1 guide. They provide helmets, wet suits, life vests, water shoes, towels, lockers - everything you need at no additional charge. The views inside the cave are incredible. You can walk on dry land or wade through 1-2 feet of water in most of the cave, but there are portions that you must swim too. You do not have to to be athletic to participate, but you cannot be scared of water or claustrophobic. I am not a good swimmer and I had no problem floating with the life vest. After the hike, they give some Mayan liquor to drink and an excellent Mexican meal at no additional charge. Then, they take you back to Playa del Carmen to shop for about 1 hour and take the ferry back to Cozumel and the ship. Overall, the experience was excellent and the company that ran the secret river tour was second to none. Read Less

First of all I would like to start by commending the staff. They were great and provided excellent service for us. Our destinations were great. We really enjoyed the white sand and clear water. The food in the main dining room was also great! This was our second cruise on Rhapsody and our third cruise on a vision class boat. Every year they are becoming less entertaining for our kids as the activities list for them seems to keep shrinking. We also kept getting a bad stench of a sewer like smell in our room throughout the week. I had the “ Voom” internet service that was super slow. To slow to send or receive emails and or text messages. This was our last trip on Rhapsody or any vision class boat from Royal Caribbean. We have been very loyal to Royal thus far as this made our fifth year in a row cruising with them. Again the staff aboard the boat was great and very helpful to us for the entire length of the cruise. Read Less

Before going on this ship it is important to know that it is an older ship and one of Royal Caribbean's smallest. Therefore, it lacks many of the amenities and activities that you will find on a larger ship (which is more of a problem if you are bringing children). However, smaller doesn't mean that it was bad. Some benefits of a smaller ship means less crowded, so you should have no problems finding a chair by the pool, a table at the buffet, etc. It also has a good passenger to employee ratio which means that the employees can provide better service and get to know you. Embarkation was a very easy and quick process, and as soon as you get on board you can get lunch while you wait for the room to be ready, which did not take long at all. Starting out with the room, it was nothing special, pretty small for four people but that is expected on a cruise ship. We had a king sized bed and a pull out couch (which wasn't very comfortable). The problem with this is that when the bed was out it was nearly impossible to get from one side of the room to the other. If I were to go again with 4 people I would make sure to get 2 rooms. Our steward, Ash, was excellent at making sure our room was clean. He was always there if we needed anything and willing to help and answer any questions that we had. The food on the ship was excellent. There are two places you can go that are included with what you already paid, the Windjammer, which is a buffet, and the main dining room, where you sit down and are waited on. The other places you can go for dinner and you pay extra for. For breakfast we went to the Windjammer everyday. It is your typical breakfast buffet with everything you would expect. For lunch most days we weren't on the ship for but when we were it was very good. A lot of options and everything tasted good. For dinner, the Windjammer is a great choice with plenty of variety and everything tasted great and freshly prepared. The main restaurant was great too, though portions were on the small side. Just a heads up, many of the entrees on the main restaurants menu could also be found at the Windjammer that same night, you would just be getting the fancier version of it at the restaurant. For snacks you could go to the Park Cafe. They have great roast beef sandwiches in the afternoon. As said before, the activities on the ship probably aren't as plentiful as bigger ships, but they still try to have things going on throughout the entire day by the pool and in the lounge. They show fairly new movies outside on the screen by the pool every night. There is a show in the Showcase theater every night, usually either singing/dancing, comedy, magician, etc. The shows were very good and I would recommend going to them. The casino is a good inclusion on the ship to give you something to do at night, but being one of the only areas on the ship you can smoke, it does get very smoky in there so it's hard to spend a lot of time in it (maybe that's a good thing) The service from all the employees was really good. Everyone was always attentive and looking for ways to help you and answer any questions you had. Disembarkation was just a easy as embarking, the line was long to go through customs but it went fast. This was my first cruise ever going on and overall it was a great experience. I would definitely do it again, but would probably choose a ship a little larger with some more features and entertainment. But for the size of this ship, I couldn't ask for much more and I never had any problems with employees, great service and all of them very helpful. Read Less

We chose the cruise because of the itinerary and the fact that it was a smaller ship. We had sailed Oasis last April so we wanted to try something new. Our room was great and the room attendant was very friendly and helpful. We had lots more storage than we had in our cabin on Oasis, so this was a nice surprise. We enjoyed the food at the Windjammer over the Main Dining Room. There was much more variety and the staff were helpful and very nice. The wait staff in the MDR seemed very overwhelmed which did not make for a relaxing experience. We enjoyed visiting the ports of Key West and Cozumel. The weather couldn't have been better. We took a trolley tour in Key West and went to Playa Mia in Cozumel. We also shopped in both ports and had a great time. The ocean got really choppy when we were approaching the port of Belize. The waves and winds were high and the ship was ROCKING and ROLLING for what seemed like three solid days. Vomit bags could be found throughout the ship for 'just in case'. The ship captain kept us up to date on the weather conditions so much so that several cruisers were scared off from attending their excursions. Many canceled. Once we arrived in Belize, we took a tender to Starfish Island and experienced a laid back beach day in Paradise. We had lunch and floated in the water for almost five hours, but could not do much else due to the high winds. It turned out OK, but I was ready to go back to the ship after 3 hours. The next day, we were supposed to dock at Costa Maya, but could not due to adverse weather conditions. We had an unexpected day at sea followed by an expected one. The cruise Director and staff did an excellent job at keeping passengers entertained with trivia games, bingo, game shows, live music, comedians, dance lessons, and more. It was the most entertaining ship we've ever been on. I can't forget to mention how wonderful the cruise staff were. You could tell that everyone liked one another and they all went above and beyond guest expectations to ensure that we all had a great vacation. Since the ship was so small, it felt like you really got to 'know' the other cruisers and staff because it you kept seeing them again and again. They all worked so incredibly hard and engaged with their guests. We tried to thank them as often as possible. We attended the cruise with our two children who both loved going to Adventure Ocean. I will say that the ship could really use more family friendly activities. Most of the entertainment content was geared toward singles, empty nesters, and retirees. Overall, we had a great experience, and would sail with Rhapsody again! We booked another cruise for February of 2020. This time on Adventure. Read Less

The week I traveled had mostly seniors and a few families with small children. My son's ages 10 and 8 chose not to go to kids club since it was geared towards smaller children. MSC cruises had a better children's program in my opinion. Although I had a wonderful trip, I wish the ship was more modern and had more entertainment such as movie theatre, game room for kids with board games, pool table, etc...however, the service more than made up for it. We did the 2/16 and 2/23/19 cruises on the Rhapsody. Smaller ship, but still had a great time! First week with 8 friends and the second week with 11 family members and 1 friend. (Children 4,3,2 year olds and a 9 months old) We stayed in #8558 Jr. Suite accessible for both weeks. Plenty of room, storage and could have my husband’s scooter charging out of the way with plenty of room still. Only 2 outlets. I brought a plug in that I could charge 3 Apple devices at once. My husband used the scooter at all ports with no issues. We didn’t eat at any of the specialty restaurants, main dining room for all dinners and a mix of Windjammer and MDR for breakfast and lunch. MTD the first week-ended up with a standing 7:30 time which we wanted for the 10 of us. The second week we were set for early dinner at 5:30, but everyone else was coming from the West Coast and changed to the late dinner at 8:00. Worked out great. Kids were served a fruit cup and their dinner from the kids menu came before ours. They had ice cream for dessert. I enjoyed all my meals- fish, chicken and turkey, my husband liked the lamb and beef dishes. (Maybe because he doesn’t get them at home) Both weeks we would go to the Diamond Lounge for pre dinner drinks. We did more show the first week, but really enjoyed Harry playing the piano and singing and the 3 girls and a guy group. We have been to all the ports before. We did Paradise Beach the first week and Ocean Beach the second. Taxi ride was $30 both ways to Paradise....second week they wanted $40 to get there.....Then they charged us $45 to get back from Ocean Beach!!! Would not do Ocean again Read Less

As Diamond Plus members, we were looking forward to sailing for the first time on Rhapsody of the Seas. We are fans of the smaller ships and have been on Grandeur of the Seas numerous times. We flew down to Tampa same day as cruise with no problems, aside from having to be at the airport by 4:30 in the morning! Took an Uber, which we highly recommend, from airport. Only $8.50 for the two of us but could have accommodated 4 people for the same rate. Taxi's there run $28.00. Pier check in was not as smooth as Baltimore or Cape Liberty, seemed crowded, lines all over the place, but organized, I guess. First impression when boarding ship was that it is well worn. Same age as Grandeur but just not as up to par. Don't want to say it was not clean, just worn out. Attempted to go into buffet, but was so over-run with people, that we had to settle for a hot dog! This ship along with the location and the people from this region love the buffet, never saw a time when it was not bursting at the seams with passengers, with the exception of early morning. My wife is glad they are still offering room service for breakfast at no additional charge, hot oatmeal, toast, bagels, fruit and coffee, a well appreciated service on this particular cruise. One piece of advice that we can offer regarding room service is that as long as you tip from day one, they will never make a mistake on your order and it will get there when requested! Had dinner in the MDR every night, waiter and assistant were good, but overworked. They definitely had more tables than they could handle efficiently, not their fault. Food overall was what we expected, good. Lunch was always just a snack at one of the cafes or if lucky, the Windjammer. Cabin steward, as usual, was great. Kept everything clean, worked very hard, worth the extra tip at the end. Entertainment was the usual, could have had better guest entertainers, but satisfied overall. Walked our own luggage off ship, Uber waiting to take us for an early flight home. Read Less

As Diamond Plus passengers, were looking forward to the experience of the Rhapsody of the seas. Yes, we got a great deal on an inside cabin but do prefer a window or above. First, the port of Tampa was a breeze to get to from the airport. We chose to use an Uber both ways and were extremely impressed with the whole process, first time using them, highly recommend. Upon getting to the port, another first, was not too impressed. Long lines, not orderly, just different as compared to other ports. Got on ship and noticed immediately that it is well worn. Never saw a buffet so crowded on the first day and every day after that. They actually had to stop people from entering at different times during the cruise because it was so packed. Never experienced that on ships of the same class in the RCCL fleet. Food was good overall. Believe it or not, got better toward the end! Cabin was kept clean, happy with size and room Stewart. Ate most nights in MDR and poor waiter had too many tables, it was crowded. Food & service was as expected, didn't wait too long with the exception of a couple of nights. Could have used Concierge lounge but decided on Diamond Lounge after first night, was faster and more relaxed. Entertainment was good, RCCL shows were impressive and guest entertainers OK. Carried our own luggage off for an early flight, no problem, was one of the first off ship. Uber was there and waiting. Would we go out of Tampa again? Maybe, but prefer NY, Baltimore and Port Canaveral. Better ships and experience overall. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had gone on this 2 years ago and loved it. All in all it is a wonderful cruise, but this time around we brought more friends and kids. The Kids Club was great for the young ones, but only our two teens (13 years old) showed up to Teen Club and that is not enough to do anything that is planned for the teens. I did give the manager ideas on how to promote and maybe even update the arcade for the teens, but there really wasn't anything for our kids to do at night. The Teen Club said they could come up, but it is hard to do any activity with just two of them. There were 11 teens on this cruise, but Teen Club was never promoted at poolside to get the kids motivated. I even had to move the barrier so they could play ping pong one evening. The movies played on deck at night were really not kid appropriate and would have liked to have seen something geared to them somewhere on the ship and even have popcorn. The late night snacks were not all desirable and eating hot dogs and pizza every night for snacks got a little old on about day 3. I was a little disappointed by the change in some shore excursions especially the H2O snorkeling in Belize was changed to another company and I was very disappointed. There were too many people, the water was too rough where we were taken in the Reef, and we didn't get to see anything but coral and a couple fish. All in all we had a great time with friends and family and the service is impeccable as always, but the minor details about the teens and shore excursion were my biggest complaints. I will not be going on the Rhapsody again as I feel my kids have outgrown this ship after this vacation. We need something where all family members have something to do at any given time. Read Less

Our cruise on the RCCL Rhapsody was full of relaxation, tequila, and cerveza. Our embarkation was quick and easy thanks to being able to do a lot of the check in on line. Our oceanview cabin was clean and spacious enough for two people. Our cabin steward kept it clean and tidy and we never saw him. A variety of activities were offered by the ship but none really excited us so we opted (for the first time on a cruise) to just kick back and do some bar hopping in port~ thanks to Cozumel Bar Hop ~ and beach relaxing at Krazy Lobster in Costa Maya. The evening meals in the main dining room had less options than we were used to on other ships but they were still adequate enough to please us. Our servers were wonderful and made sure we had everything we wanted ~ including the night I wanted 2 bowls of Lobster Bisque. (Well they actually only brought me one but it was a HUGE salad bowl full and it was delicious). We ate breakfast in the Windjammer buffet each morning and definitely had adequate offerings except for the pastries but judge them for yourself because I am a pastryaholic. If we were onboard at lunch time, we also ate in the Windjammer which had a good selection. We did attend a couple shows in the Hollywood Theater which were entertaining as well as relaxing. My son actually won money in the casino and that is a first for cruise ship casinos. Disembarkation was equally smooth and we made a swift get away via taxi to our early flight. Overall this was a relaxing, stress free cruise from TAMPA and I would totally recommend it if relaxation is your primary goal. Read Less

My wife and I recently cruised on the Rhapsody of the Seas, to date this has been the smallest cruise ship we have sailed on. I can honestly say I think it may be a new favourite! I enjoyed the smaller ship and not having thousands of people! For us cruising has always been about the ship firstly and where it is going secondly! Since this smaller ship was able to get into a few ports we had not been to previously like Belize and Roatan it was a great trip! We found that the ships crew was very helpful and the food was very good! We decided on this trip to try the Chef's Table and I must say it did not disappoint! The food was fantastic and the wine pairing was excellent. I learned a lot about picking wines, and as a person that does not drink much, it was very informative! We also took a Sushi making course in Izumi and that was fantastic! I cant wait to try those recipes and make some sushi at home! Read Less

We booked this cruise as our yearly family vacation. The cruise ship, the staff, the food, the ports of call were all amazing and everyone had an awesome time. Our waiters were absolutely fantastic. Mohamed and Prem made certain our family was taken care of from the moment we sat down, until the dessert plates cleared. We were all treated like royalty. They entertained us and practically became family. They were even able to get the worlds pickiest eater, my daughter, to eat every day. The only bad part of the trip was having to leave the last day. And finally Elvis. Without a doubt the greatest cruise director EVER!!!!!!! He absolutely knows how to get people of all ages involved and makes certain everyone has a great time. The 70's night was insane. The staff and he rocked that place and everyone in that room was dancing. Until we meet again. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!. Read Less

We did the 2018-19 New Years cruise. There was a group of 10 of us who have all cruised before with Roal Caribbean and Celebrity. Unfortunately this ship was awful. It must be 50 years old and ready for the graveyard because the creaks and shaking it makes felt like we was about to sink many times. The ship was small with hardly anything to do on it. The activities was sparse and the shows tedious. The pool area and buffet are very small so expect troubles in seating. If you like going to the gym expect every machine to be full 100% of the time. The windjammer had the same food every meal every day and I cant say the dining room was much better. The staff on the reception desk was very unhelpful and did all they could to give youmisleading and conflicting information. The ports were disappointing specially Belize. Crew were helpful and nice but all seemed in a bit of a daze, they looked like they needed a redbull. Read Less

This is our second cruise and went with extended family this time. I really don't love cruises in general, but this served it's purposes for a family reunion. We really loved the size of the ship, as I didn't feel it was too crowded even though it was over Christmas. The teenage boys were a bit bored, so I think a bigger ship with more activities would've suited them better. The food is excellent on this ship. We did not have one bad meal in Edelweiss or Windjammer. I can't say enough about the food. I read in other reviews how they thought it was OK, but this was not the case for us. We had 14 in our group of all ages, and everyone was happy. The staff was amazing and became part of our family. We were lucky to have Gopal and Oleh as our waiters and also Martin. They all went out of their way to please us and did it smiling, despite how hard they work. Can't say enough about them! The porters too were great. Respectful and patient. Miguel and Miguel. We enjoyed Elvis and other cruise directors. He's very personable and funny. We didn't have the best excursion experiences, which is what we most looked forward to. Belize was a nightmare. Port was chaotic and sad outside of it. Our Belize excursion was screwed up bad. We asked them about our snorkeling excursion a few times, as the tickets said to meet at the pier and the brochure said a tender would pick us up directly from the ship. We asked which it was, and staff told us to go to the pier (along with 60 other people). Well, they were wrong. We waited and waited, and the tender went to the ship. When they finally figured it out, we lost over an hour and no time was made up. Also, many people bailed, including some of my family members. What a disappointment. This was NOT the tours fault, but the ship. We got some $$ back, but that doesn't matter much to us. The day was spoiled. Read Less

Thanks to you, we spent one of the best holidays of our lives with my family, with my eyes closed I really recommend rhapsody of the seas.
