Great itinerary, lovely weather, ship could be better

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Norwegian Star

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, sailing dates, and to use a 20% discount certificate that was issued by NCL due to canceling the Epic's winter Mediterranean sailings. The terms were rather restrictive and this sailing qualified. We booked about 3 months ahead, so we were within the final payment date and could only use one CruiseNext certificate. NCL would not budge on this, despite ...

better than expected

Given the reviews here was expecting the worst, but overall it was actually quite ok. Given the amazing ports and more than reasonable price, I am pretty satisfied in the end. Itinerary: Reykjavík to Tromso via Svalbard. 3 days at sea which was a good break between all the excursions. 3 of the ports were tendered - but only the very first one was somewhat chaotic. The only issue was that they ...

Fantastic crew and ports but a couple negatives as well

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Seven Seas Voyager

We mostly chose this cruise for the amazing itinerary. Iceland, Norway, Shetland Islands, Amsterdam and Bruges Belgium which did not disappoint. The crew was absolutely amazing, they just couldn’t do enough for us and we’re always asking if there was anything else we needed or wanted. Many knew our names a drink preferences by the third day. We were treated like royalty. Voyager is 23 years old ...

Icebergs, icebergs everywhere!

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Norwegian Star

Iceland, Greenland, and all the icebergs were beautiful to see and great to experience. With a full ship, the additional sea days did make us ready to get off. I also felt bad for the crew that did not get as many breaks from us. We missed 2 ports due to icebergs and 1 due to too rough to tender. The Captain noted that they looked at ice charts for the last 10 years and never saw that much ice at ...

Cruised with my sister and was excited to visit both Iceland and Greenland. Flew in two days earlier and explored Reykjavik before start of cruise. First time sailing platinum, enjoyed the extra perks. Ship was full but was able to find quiet places. Spice H2O was nice, has 2 hot tubs plus really comfortable seating. Buying the thermal spa pass was well worth it. It was a great place to relax. ...

Satisfactory skim of coastal Iceland

It’s not the purpose of this newsboard to compare cruising with independent land travel. But there was little overlap between our 4-nights with a car rental in Eastern Iceland, and our 7-nights “Around Iceland.” I’m saying that the excellent sights of the Southern Coast and the Golden Circle were completely out of reach of our ports. Our last port, Grundarfjordur, did provide excellent access to ...

Excellent cruise; interesting ports

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Celebrity Summit

We booked this cruise to use up a pre-pandemic credit from 2019. (Multiple intervening attempts failed.) We are grateful to Celebrity for the credit, for the extensions they granted to those of us with credits, and for getting back to sailing. We went to Reykjavik six days early. There is plenty to do in Iceland and a mere port stop or a day or day is insufficient. Everyone we met was ...

Very nice cruise in spite of bad weather.

We choose this cruise because of the opportunity to visit Greenland for the first time and return to Iceland which we had seen on an NCL cruise 5 years ago but not on the Star but on the Gem. We were concerned that the ship was much smaller and older then the ships we typically travel but because of the ports we decided to book it. By the time of our cruise we were aware the last scheduled ...

Cruising completely around Iceland

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Star Legend

We chosse this cruise because we wanted to see a lot of Iceland. We met 2 fellow Cruisers on the Cruise Critic Roll Call, and we arranged two private tours together for the two days preceding the cruise. Embarkation and Disembarkation iwent smoothly because we were only about 250 passengers. The cabin was comfortable. The crew was great. I was greeted with hugs by Liani and Kristen who were ...
