Crystal Endeavor Overview

Crystal Endeavor, launching in 2020, will be Crystal Cruises' first expedition ship. This purpose-built Polar-class yacht will feature 100 all-balcony suites, an extensive spa and six fine dining restaurants so you won't have to skimp on luxury -- even when traveling to the ends of the earth. Like Crystal's other ships, Endeavor will offer an all-inclusive fare that covers all meals and snacks; most wines, Champagnes and spirits; and gratuities.

Two excursion helicopters, a submarine and aft marina are three standout features of this new yacht. Layer an in-depth daytime enrichment program of guest lecturers with evening entertainment options (music performances, dancing and even a casino), and the ship becomes a strong contender for anyone looking to book expedition itineraries without sacrificing the finer things that make life onboard such a joy.

Dining

Despite the fact that Crystal Endeavor is an expedition yacht that sails to some pretty off-the-beaten-path destinations, it won't skimp when it comes to its culinary presentations. The ship will offer six restaurants, including specialty venues like Prego (for Italian meals), a Vintage Room for special winemaker dinners and Chef Nobu Matsuhisa's Umi Uma. (All passengers may enjoy a complimentary dinner in both Prego and Umi Uma; additional reservations cost $30 per person.) The specialty restaurants compliment Waterside, Endeavor's main dining room.

You'll also find Silk Kitchen & Bar for Asian cuisine (not to be confused with Nobu's Silk Road that was previously onboard Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony) and Bistro Cafe for full-service breakfast and lunch, as well as coffee, espresso and tea. The expedition yacht will also have its own Palm Court -- with floor-to-ceiling windows -- that will hum with activity each afternoon during teatime. A full room service menu will be available.

Cabins

When Crystal Cruises announced plans for Crystal Endeavor's cabins, it asserted they would be some of "the largest, most spacious suites in expedition cruising." That will be a nice change of pace from the relatively small entry-level suites aboard the line's older ships, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony.

The 90 Deluxe Suites are 304 square feet and eight Penthouse Suites are 457 square feet. Both categories separate the sitting and sleeping areas. Two Crystal Penthouse Suites (985 to 1,130 square feet) will make an appearance on Crystal Endeavor. The larger footprint is a two-bedroom layout while the other is a one-bedroom cabin that connects to a Deluxe Suite. Both Crystal Penthouse Suites offer standalone dining rooms and a butler's pantry.

All 100 suites on the ship will feature king-sized beds, flat-screen TVs, walk-in closets and some cool amenities like heated storage for drying parkas and spa-esque bathrooms with heated floors, anti-fog mirrors and rainfall showerheads. On the technology end of the spectrum, expect touches like iPads in every cabin plus an interactive streaming TV and ambient lighting controls. A mini-bar is stocked with complimentary soft drinks and bottled water, and you can also request beer, wine and spirits. Twice-daily maid service is standard.

Top Deck Attractions

The amenities that will make nearly every cruiser look twice at Crystal Endeavor is its pair of eight-passenger helicopters for excursions and an onboard submarine for underwater exploration. And, like the line's Crystal Esprit yacht, Endeavor will also boast an aft watersports marina as well as expansive mud rooms dedicated to cleaning boots and equipment after shore explorations.

A two-story solarium on the upper decks will feature a glass-domed pool. There will also be a Crystal Life Spa -- with three treatment rooms, men's and women's steam and sauna rooms, and a relaxation room -- as well as a salon and fitness center.

Entertainment

Due to the nature of expedition cruising, Crystal plans to offer a variety of enrichment opportunities in various onboard venues like Crystal Cove, the Captain's Lounge, Expedition Lounge, Helicopter Lounge and the Library. In the evening, you'll find music and dancing. There's even an onboard casino -- the only on an expedition yacht -- and Connoisseur Club cigar bar.

Family

Crystal Endeavor's family-friendly programs have not yet been released.

Itineraries

While Crystal Endeavor's itineraries have not yet been announced, its Polar Class 6 designation will allow the vessel to maneuver in the summer and fall through medium first-year ice in either of the poles.
