1-10 of 18 Regent Seven Seas Explorer Cruise Reviews for Luxury to Africa
We signed up for this cruise in 2020. We hoped by end of Oct. 2022 things with Covid would have settled down. Since this was to be our 6th Regent cruise, 2nd on Explorer, we believed the tours would be very good and safe. We believed we needed to be careful in many parts or the world now. Especially since we are in our seventies and walk a bit slower. We believed Regen would take good care of us ...
We chose this cruise the very first day it came out. We'd done North Africa and wanted to do South Africa with a pre-cruise safari. Regent did a fantastic job providing us with a Shamwari 5 Star game resort where we were so lucky to have seen and photographed a leopard and a white rhino at sunset against a setting sun. Our suite onboard was very convenient to the elevators and our cabin ...
We traveled on this cruise with another couple but also met some delightful passengers during the trip. Embarkation was quick and easy. Our suite was lovely and spacious (Explorer Suite) but not set up according to our pre cruise requests. The bar and bedding were totally wrong as they must have mixed us up with another passenger’s requests. This was our second cruise on the Explorer having sailed ...
We chose this cruise for its itinerary having sailed from Dubai to Cape Town via East Africa with Regent three years ago (a cruise which rated as one of the best we have ever done). A bonus was a chance to sail on the Explorer.
We chose the pre-cruise experience on offer in Lisbon as the post cruise with a Safari meant coming home on Christmas Day! Pre-Cruise - Lapa Palace - good hotel but ...
We chose this for the itinerary-across the Med to many places we had not been, and to try out this form of travel--luxury cruise.Overall its unlikely we would do this kind of cruise again:
Beautiful ship, well appointed. Not quite 700 people on board and rarely felt crowded.
But as we came into the last few nights we were feeling too confined, limited choices. We very much like to spend ...
The biggest asset Regent have are their staff.
The suites are well designed, larger but why no chair other than a desk chair and the couch is poor. The bathroom/ shower is excellent.
The Veranda restaurant has a lot more space outside and the chairs are much improved. The tables are already getting chipped. The Speciality restaurants, Prime 7 , Chatreuse, and Pacific Rim are good although ...
At this writing we are still onboard our second leg of a 30 day back to back. This ship is beautiful. I like the dark panels opposite the white so that it doesn't seem gloomy. I love my blue carpet in my concierge room and the double sinks with tub and shower. Since I use the tub almost every day, it is a necessity for me. The penthouse suites have no tub.
We brought our night light for ...
We just returned from a 30 night – back-to-back cruise on Explorer (Haifa to Rome and Rome to Miami). The first two weeks were in a F1 suite and the second segment we were in a Grand suite. This review is very long so I’ll separate sections so you won’t have to read things that you are not interested in.

We flew Air Canada (Regent deviated air) from Vancouver to Tel Aviv with a ...
Having cruised with Silverseas on other trips I was a little apprehensive that no other could match their comfort, service and cuisine. After 14 days aboard Explorer I had no such reservations.
1. Although a larger vessel, the efficiency of embarking/disembarking for excursions was excellent and the ship rarely felt crowded, except perhaps the popularity of Sette Mare restaurant;
2. Suites ...
We took this cruise to sail on the new Regent Ship the Explorer, it was also my wifes 75th birthday and we wanted to do an Atlantic crossing. After arriving in Tel Aviv we were bused to Haifa to a Dan hotel. For a six star cruise line this was a two star hotel at best. Since it was for only one night we didn't complain too much, maybe it was the best hotel in town.
Embarkation the next day was ...
