We were on the recent ill-fated cruise that had to return to port due to mechanical difficulties. Earlier in the cruise, we had already identified shortcomings in cabin cleaniness, mediocre food, and lame excursions that were very disappointing (we did not travel to that distance to be "treated" to a tour of a golf course, taken to markets but not given any time to shop and told that we couldn't ...
I recently embarked on a voyage from Lisbon to Barcelona aboard the Regent Voyager, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the staff aboard the ship were undeniably friendly and attentive, the overall condition of the vessel and the handling of unexpected situations left a lot to be desired.
Let's start with the accommodations. My wife and I stayed in a suite on the 8th ...
The ship was nice, but it is made for seniors. I am an active senior but I spent most of my time in the room. I paid for 3 excursions and got to do none of them. In all, I lost over $1000 on excursions. They are not worth it. Just shop in the city near the ship. When reporting the excursions, the manager insinuated that we were stupid and should have known and if we didn't, it showed that we had ...
This captain skips ports. What else can be said about a cruise billed as a voyage to Antarctica and the Falklands Islands but skips the Falklands and cuts out a day in Antarctica. I'm sure most people lined up to pay $$$ to see eight days in a row of the South Atlantic. No? Probably not. I hear there's a line forming onboard to join a class action lawsuit organized by some of the passengers. Rude ...
My 2nd ever cruise and first on a so-called Prestige Line ship.
Voyager as a ship was tired and clearly in need of refurbishment. TV swung from side to side even on a moderate swell giving sleepless nights. Balcony door wouldn't lock. The so-called exclusive toiliteries (shampoo and soap) were of a quality found in cheap motels forcing us to buy from the Spa Shop.
The staff servicing the ...
Regent was rated in top 3 luxury liner but this trip was a disaster! Shows were at low standards,no variety, repeat artists, activities were minimal, staff was under trained even though they did the best they could and the worst of all was the excursions were way below of what a luxury cruiser would provide-many ports of call were cancelled and ended up with more than half the cruise at sea!!
As ...
All staff were very friendly.
What is not good? Almost zero outdoor, pool deck activity! Only once every two weeks some food or live music on the pool deck. No music anywhere when the show is on. Some harbors bad stops such as in Java. Excursion some ok, some just hours of bus drives. Worst: Horrible wifi! If you are not retired and need to work some online: Do not use Regent! They advertise ...
We purchased a cruise package that included flights, 3 days pre-cruise stay in Cape Town then a cruise to Rio stopping at Luderitz and Walvis Bay in Namibia followed by St Helena before ending with a day in Rio.
The outbound BA flights were fine. The hotel (Cullinan) in Cape Town was good apart from the dinner on the second night which was below par. All the excursions were excellent, well ...
Seasoned Oceania cruisers try out Regent. How did it go?
It was an adventure.
We are seasoned Oceania cruisers, and seasoned transatlantic cruisers. We booked our own flights and took the transfer from the airport to the Southern Sun and joined the 4 day/3 night precruise. The hotel is fine, in a great location, and the staff could not be nicer.
The precruise tour was exceptional, our ...
Cruise fell so far below expectations, frequent cruisers, sailed with Regent several times and normally fabulous but Ship is tired, rooms far from luxurious. Problems from start, transfers from hotel and embarkation absolutely chaotic. We both became unwell by end of first week this was before ship officially announced that they had a serious problem, they said only a few people sick but levels ...
