Chose this because cruise on explorer last year was great. Sadly this was a waste of money and took until day six to sort all issues out. Aft cabin ( 675) intolerable because of vibration. Bought this specifically for balcony size. Moved to ( downgraded) veranda suite ( 754) Filthy balcony with caulking between teak boards stripping out and staining carpet, clothes shoes. After carpenters tried to fix ( apparently they already knew about this) we had to move again to 817 veranda suite which was OK. Offered $1000 pp towards next cruise ( not refund!!) Special diet ( coeliac) organisation awful. Food generally very very average . La veranda by time back from shore excursions bereft of any decent food. Compass Rose closed at least twice for lunch. Dried up scrapings on offer and empty dishes failing to be replenished. Chaotic end of dining service restaurant with sudden changing to get ready for dinner while still diningWines poor quality ( unless of course you pay the extra) Staff almost invisible. Chartreuse noisy chaotic and more like a cafe. Prime 7 average. Even had an offer from cruise director who was having lunch next to using La Veranda to take my dirty plates from my table when the waiter failed to clear up! Drinks, when could find someone to order, frequently failed to be delivered. This was particularly evident at pool and in La Veranda Three staff worth mentioning plus the Butler who were all excellent. Simone, the Maitre D in La Veranda tried very hard to redeem situation and personally was the best service ever.. Janina, the Exec Concierge responded quickly but did not follow up on first occasion. She was practically helpful . Allisone in La Veranda tried hard to organise dietary requirements. Guest lecturer awful. Went on one occasion and he was ill prepared, unfocussed and side commentaries were made assuming that all his audience were Americans. Shore tours were mostly excellent but started at 0800. After talking with fellow travellers on this ship it was evident that even the most faithful RSS clients were exasperated. I am awaiting the company's comments on the whole experience but I am not going to hold my breath! Conclusion is simple. Staff seem to not understand English when it suits them. Entertainment zero. Towels thread bare. Even holes in bath towels and mats. Could not believe it. Dress code really? Baseball caps in main dinning room. Shorts worn everywhere after 6pm. Excursions started at breakfast time and not back till afternoon so no breakfast or lunch. Saves them a fortune. I really thought it was a bad dream. Paid a fortune and received zero for the money. Officers had family aboard and staff seem to eat in public areas. Nice to line up for a coffee after staff are served. Unbelievable. Regent are on the way out and the sooner the better. Keep well away. Complimentary wine very poor and seems to be a push to buy the premium range. Prime 7 lobster raw. Chatreuse appalling. Bar staff couldn’t make a decent martini and didn’t care less anyway. Read Less

While we're relatively experienced cruisers (over 200 days on Silversea, 50 on Seabourn) this was only our second Regent trip. On the previous one, Seven Seas Navigator, we loved the relative informality and the quality of the F&B, but were not too impressed by the ship, so were looking forward to experiencing the Seven Seas Voyager. Overall, this trip warranted a "Good" rating, and we generally enjoyed it. Embarkation was efficient and timely. The Cabin (Veranda on Deck 7 Midships) met our expectations for the category, although the veranda itself would have benefited from a good clean and repaint.The shore excursions were generally very good, the organisation of disembarkation for the excursions was excellent, and the quality of food and wines was also good to very good. Unfortunately, though, this trip was let down by staff attitude. This was not universal by any means, but too often we encountered a patronising attitude, which at times made us feel that we were being a nuisance. This was exemplified on our only visit to the Compass Rose, where the attitude of both the waiter (think plates being placed quite forcefully on the table, rolling eyes) and the wine waiter (who tried hard to convince us that a standard Valpolicella was the same as a Valpolicella Ripasso) were so poor that we did not return, choosing instead to dine at the alternative venues. Having said that, the staff in Chartreuse and Prime 7 - where we managed to dine several times - were very good indeed, as were Setti Mare. The Pool Grill staff were acceptable, but lacked the finesse expected on a Regent cruise. There also seemed to be frequent problems with the coffee machines at the Coffee Corner, which led to queues at the service counter. We were also very disappointed to find, on four separate days, that we'd been supplied with bath towels which were worn into holes and/or frayed. After the fourth occurrence, I mentioned this to the Reception staff, and in fairness it did not happen again. The point, however, is that with a company such as Regent which claims "luxury" status, it should not have happened at all. The "acid test" is whether we would take another Regent cruise, and the answer is yes, we would, given the right itinerary. However, there were unfortunately too many small negatives to make Regent our first choice. Read Less

Husband, son and I have been cruising for over 25 years. Ages are 63, 56 and 23. It is our favorite vacation thing to do. Started on Carnival (actually met my husband on the old Celebration) and moved on up from there. About eight years ago, we tried Celebrity and that was that. It became our favorite cruise line. So other than the occasional inexpensive three or four day trip to the Bahamas on Carnival or Royal Caribbean (we live in FL, so it's easy for us to just jump on), we stick to Celebrity. But this year, we decided to step up to one of the luxury lines and went with Regent Voyager Barcelona to Athens. We are going on Celebrity Edge this winter and considered it for this cruise, but when we added on the business air that came included with Regent, the prices were pretty much the same. So I'll just cut to the conclusion and if you want details, keep reading further. Regent is just lovely and we had a nice time, but it's back to Celebrity for us, unless we got some sort of insane deal on Regent. Very soon, Regent is going to have to figure out how to cater to a younger, more dynamic, well-heeled passenger, as their very elderly passenger base is not going to be around much longer. So here's our breakdown: Room- Regent wins. We were in 867, which is a Penthouse Suite B. It is very comparable to a Sky Suite on Celebrity, which is what we usually book. We loved it. Big walk in closet. Curtain that separates living room from bedroom at night (helpful if you have a third passenger, as we did). Bathroom had separate shower and bath. Great towels and toiletries. Tip: If you do have a passenger sleeping on the pull out couch, ask for a mattress reinforcer. Made a big difference. As others have noted, the balcony furniture is a little too big for the space. Food- For the MDR, Regent wins going away. Really good food. For pool grille, best hamburgers goes to Celebrity, ambiance goes to Regent. Buffet food was a tie, although Regent had less of a cattle call feel. Specialty restaurants food were a tie. In factoring cost effectiveness, we have to pay for specialty restaurants on Celebrity, but they are included with Regent. Regent does enforce the no jeans dress code in the dining room in the evening, which is pretty silly in this day and age. A man in a nice fitting pair of dark wash jeans with a collared shirt is a much better look than some of the stuff that we saw that technically fits the dress code. Drinks-Regent. However, we pretty much only drink wine and champagne, with an occasional martini or cosmo thrown in. The daily wines were perfectly acceptable and flowed freely. We did not feel pressure to buy more expensive bottles. All the bartenders we met were pleasant. No ubiquitous surly Jamaican bartender at the pool bar. And none of that annoying standing in line and having to produce your card. You ask for a drink, you get it. Lovely. Casino- Celebrity. At least on our sailing, the casino was dead, dead, dead. There were many times we were the only people in there. We are gamblers so we usually get offered significant discounts on future cruises after the pit boss sees our level of play. Regent offered us $1000 off any future sailings. Whoopee. Clientele- Regent. Everyone was super friendly and well traveled. Of course, this was a much smaller ship size. There is a significant 80+ clientele. The bulk of them were impressively active and friendly, but the experience and amenities they are looking for were quite different from ours. (Clientele can vary wildly sailing to sailing and I might be a little bitter about our last two on Celebrity. They were spring break cruises and Costco travel had sold the bulk of the reservations to a certain demographic that I won't specify.) Officer Visibility-Regent. I have never seen and met so many officers and been on a first name basis with them. Very impressive. Entertainment- For in house talent, Regent. For specialty acts, Celebrity. Pool- Chairs and amenities, Regent. Music, Celebrity. The piped in music at the Voyager pool was just excruciating. One more instrumental round of "The Girl from Impanema" anyone? Come on. They call it yacht rock for a reason. Please play it. Or reggae, mellow rock, current pop. Anything but what they played. Again, the elderly clientele seemed to like it. Shore excursions - tie. Shore excursions on both are such a crap shoot, whether you pay for them or they are included. We are reaching the point where we just want to book from outside companies. Internet-Celebrity. Regents was HORRIBLE. And we paid $100 for the upgrade! A deal breaker for us. My husband still has to work when he's on vacation and my son, well, he's 23. We gotta have decent internet. Service- ever so slight edge to Regent. We have had outstanding butlers and we have had indifferent butlers. There just doesn't seem to be any set standard on either ship. So our Regent butler was one of the indifferent ones. But everyone else was really good. Laundry-Regent. There is a passenger laundry room on every floor. While it's not particularly high end to do your own laundry on a cruise, it's certainly better than paying those insanely high fees. Cost-Celebrity. Except for the Edge, which is on a par with Regent. Read Less

Regent continues to be our cruise line of choice. Everything is taken care of and they do not nickel and dime you. Staff is very accommodating and service is 1st rate. As soon as your glass is empty someone is offering another drink or glass of wine. Food in all venues was excellent with wonderful choices in Compass main dining room and included availability each night of basics (steak, lobster tails, etc.) . Entertainment staff was talented in shows and accommodating when participating with guests in other venues (Beatles night and Bar B que were both spectacular and everyone out there dancing and singing). Specialty restaurants were also wonderful. Casino staff very friendly and eased pain of losing. Some excursions could be improved as to scope and content. Tour of Malta particularly disappointing as coordination with harbor cruise resulted in missed ferry. Voyager facilities and public areas were spotless and in good repair. Read Less

While not experienced cruisers, we have been on five previous cruises over the past 25 - 30 years with Carnival, Norwegian, and Holland America. We chose this cruise due to an invitation from my sister to join her and her husband on what would be their sixth Regent cruise (they booked their seventh while onboard). We found the itinerary interesting which included Spanish, Portuguese, French, and British ports and loved the departure port (Barcelona) having spent a week there last year. Our journey began with a flawless and on-time flight on Delta through Atlanta to Barcelona. Delta One (their version of business class) was comfortable, the food was delicious, and I was able to sleep a few hours during the flight. We arrived in Barcelona Sunday morning before a Monday cruise departure day to an expectedly chaotic airport where we discovered Barcelona is second to Miami as the busiest cruise port in the world. Our bags were retrieved and turned over to representatives available at the airport and we were on a bus headed for the Fairmont hotel an hour after landing. Our hotel, the included pre-cruise selection by Regent, was very nice and located within a large garden-like area with beautiful grounds. Very quiet and relaxing. Regent representatives were onsite to assist with tours or cruise inquiries although we didn't require their assistance. The provided breakfast Monday morning, the day of the cruise, was high quality with plenty of choices to satisfy everyone. We had a couple of hours to relax prior to boarding our assigned bus to the pier. Bags were retrieved from our room the morning of departure. After a relatively short (45 minute) bus ride to the pier, we were ready to board. The embarkation process was efficient, easy, and relaxed. We experienced our first memorable interaction with a Regent employee during this process. A gentleman from the entertainment team greeted us with a smile, checked us in, invited us to the show that night, and sent us on our way. A great first impression even before we boarded the ship. Once onboard, we immediately noticed the quality, beauty, opulence, and luxury of the décor, design, furnishings, and atmosphere on the ship. Also, a wide variety of artwork could be found throughout the ship, some of which matched my taste, while some did not. We were aware of the hype surrounding this ship and reality matched the hype. Undeniably, the ship itself is beautiful in every imaginable way. Our cabin, a Concierge D on deck 10, was located steps away from the elevators and stairs and beneath the library above. The efficiency of the cabin design was impressive by being able to face the very comfortable king size bed toward to balcony so that from the bed we could see the sea or port. An abundance of drawer space (we didn't use half of them) could be found throughout the cabin. The closet was very large in relation to the cabin size and fully accommodated what ended up being our exaggerated over packing. The bathroom was impressive as well with two sinks, a separate tub and shower, and beautiful marble finishing throughout. Pre-cruise, we were attracted to a separate tub and shower, however; after a 12 night cruise, we never used the tub. Similarly, pre-cruise we appreciated that an illy coffeemaker would be located in our cabin yet we never used it. Our balcony was large, approximately 115 sq. ft., and had high quality furnishings including two large wicker reclining chairs, full size chaise lounge, and a table large enough for two people to enjoy a meal. The balcony angled toward the front of the ship which provided an unobstructed view forward without the need to lean over the railing. Furnishings, fixtures, and finishes inside the cabin were consistent with what would be found in four or five star hotel junior suite. Contrary to certain reviews, we found the dining onboard to be excellent without exception. Every meal was high quality, well presented, without lengthy wait times, and flavored deliciously. We dined at each specialty restaurant twice, ordered room service breakfast six times, and tried all other dining venues except the pool grill multiple times. I had seafood, veal, beef, and pasta main course dishes and all were great. Service was outstanding. Wines offered were very good and our glasses were never empty. Desserts were, unfortunately, too tempting to avoid. Frankly, absolutely no complaints related to food whatsoever. We experienced none of the issues to be found in reviews critical of dining venues located on the ship. We were left assuming we were either very fortunate or simply easy to please. Notably, the design, décor and atmosphere in the three specialty dining venues is truly unique and beautiful. The entertainment we found enjoyable and, well..............entertaining. Other reviews indicate entertainment leaves something to be desired yet we attended three stage productions, the cruise director John Barron's show, his assistant's show, and every performance by the two guest performers with Will Martin's shows being the best. The shows were an hour in length which we found to be perfect. We didn't expect Lady GaGa, Adelle, Elton John, or a Broadway theater production of Phantom of the Opera or Les Miserables to be performing on the cruise and therefore we appreciated the quality of the entertainment available. Additionally, we were always able to find comfortable seats available in the theater without obstructed sightlines. We also scheduled two cooking classes in the Culinary Arts Kitchen and thoroughly enjoyed both. The instructing chef made it fun with her energy and enthusiasm and by playing music and serving wine while teaching. Both classes were full (I believe 18 is capacity) which further added to the fun atmosphere. The facility itself is state of the art. Finally, we scheduled five appointments in the Canyon Ranch spa and were pleased with their services and facility. I had a massage that I would rank as good as any I have ever received. Service on the cruise is where the separation occurred between great and extraordinary. The meaningful difference maker for us. Nice ship, itinerary, tours, food, and entertainment - otherworldly service. One example: 6:30 am I go to the coffee shop to get a latte for my wife which Andre gladly prepares and a green tea for me. I then head to the pool deck where the fresh juice bar is located and pick up a celery and orange juice for my wife and head back to the cabin with my hands full. As I walk through the pool area the attendants who are changing the terry cloth covers on all the pool loungers smile and wish me a good morning. As I approach the door, one stops what he is doing and runs to open the door for me and asks if I need further assistance. As I near the door to our cabin, from behind me appears one of the captain's staff members from the bridge and he asks me if he can open my cabin door for me with his master key. This is only one example of many other incredibly positive interactions with Regent staff members on the ship. The training program must be world class because we never encountered anyone who wasn't pleasant, wasn't eager to serve, and who wasn't genuinely kind. The crew seemed happy. At dinner in Prime 7, our excellent server Ruth's assistant, who I would guess to be 21 or 22 years old, engaged in conversation with us and twice said how much she loved her job. How many 21 or 22 year olds in the U.S. would say how much they love their jobs? From beginning to end, we had no complaints whatsoever regarding the service we received and we compliment Regent for their very effective hiring and training practices. We experienced eleven ports while on our cruise and found many points of interest, cultural experiences, historical significance, and beauty at every one. All tours with the exception of Lisbon met or exceeded our expectations. Most notable tours included a D Day Landing Beach tour in Normandy and a wonderful dinner at Chateau Du Tertre in Bordeaux. We had high quality guides who were knowledgeable and understandable. Each bus would depart about half full. Very efficient system for organizing tour departures on the ship. We never waited more than ten minutes before being directed to our bus. The one complaint I have from the entire cruise experience is related to the tours and, unfortunately, I believe the issue is beyond Regent's control: passengers go on tours they should not take due to physical limitations. We were provided tour descriptions online before the cruise, after we boarded, and each day with the newsletter; all of which made abundantly clear the physical requirements of each tour and the physical limitations that should prevent someone from taking certain tours. On every tour, in my opinion, people were present who should not have been. Certain participants placed unreasonable expectations on the guides due to their limitations. A man fell down stepping off the curb in Lisbon and somehow the guide was implicated? Another guide was rudely told to slow down because a couple couldn't keep up. One guide was told to slow down by a woman who said her back hurts when she climbs stairs. And lastly, a guide was asked to be available at the port to help a couple back to the ship. Very frustrating and my heart goes out to the guides and what they must endure. Regent can't be placed into a position of evaluating each passenger's physical ability before every tour. Passengers need to read the information, readily available via multiple sources, regarding the tours, and be honest about their ability to take the, clearly stated, more physically demanding tours. Again, my only complaint during the entire cruise. Disembarkation was difficult only because we didn't want to leave. The process itself was easy as long as your luggage was outside your door on time and you were listening for your number to be called indicating it was time to disembark. In summary, we had a wonderful and memorable trip and thanks to Regent for performing so incredibly well every step of the way. To perform so well requires outstanding organization, training, quality control, accountability, and teamwork. It was fascinating to watch the team work so well together and deliver so well time and time again. Partly attributable to my sister telling me to prepare to be spoiled and partly because of the price, our expectations were very high yet Regent consistently met or exceeded our expectations. Consequently, we are now hooked and booked an Alaska cruise in 2020 while onboard. Read Less

This was our first time on the Voyager, and it will probably be our last. The staff was, as always, wonderful. However, the service in Compass Rose was excruciatingly slow; so much so that we just stopped eating there and relied on room service and the pool grill for dinner. As others have mentioned, you had to ask for refills of water, wine, etc, and that has never happened to us before on any Regent cruise. And the food was just mediocre. It felt as if they were just using up whatever food was onboard before the ship got to Miami. Not impressed at all. The Cruise Director (not allowed to name him, but he is a fairly new CD, and perhaps that was part of the problem) was not visible at all on the ship, and when he was, he was rather stand-offish (I heard the adjective "arrogant" used more than once). The whole social vibe of the cruise was off; the members of the production crew were not very engaging (we've always enjoyed spending time with them during the social games, or after hours, but not on this cruise...they just didn't interact well with the passengers). There was no interaction between the Cruise Director and the Social Hostess, which is unusual. Just a strange, not friendly, atmosphere. We were very impressed with Terry Bishop, who was both a lecturer and singer/comedian. We were not impressed with the production shows, but this was the last cruise for that crew (their contract is up), and they all got off the ship in Miami, so perhaps that had something to do with it. The maintenance of the ship was poor. We heard several first time cruisers with Regent comment that it looked like Regent had stopped putting any money into the ship and was just biding its time until it could sell the Voyager. Crew members started painting and fixing the ship up about a week out of Miami...come to find out it was the first time the Voyager was going to be in the US in 9 years, and they were spiffying it up for the Regent bigwigs and/or the authorities in Miami. Too bad the paying customers weren't important enough for a spiffy ship (and yes, I got that info from a high level staff member). Captain Stan did a great job routing us around the bad weather and rough seas, but we did miss Madeira Island and Bermuda (the two places we really wanted to visit). He did manage to add on Saint Maarten, but it was just a short visit. However, it kept us from being on the open seas for 9 days straight. We love Regent, but did not book another cruise while on board. There was just too much off about this cruise for us to book with them again for a while. Hopefully this was just an anomaly and not the new norm...because they do seem to be moving more and more in the direction of NCL. Read Less

The embarkation was very quick and we were on the ship in minutes.We really enjoyed ourselves even though unfortantly we missed a couple of ports because of the weather.We were busy all the time with several wonderful lectures from Terry and Adam,drinking and eating too much and the entertainment on the ship was wonderful. David Niven was not only a hard working wonderful cruise director but put on a show that brought down the house. The cabin was excellent and really even though we had a butler it really was not necessary the food in Compass Rose was very good and if I had a complaint some of the food was warm not hot when I got it. Chartuse was nice but their menu was limited but dover sole was delicious Prime 7 was wonderful and anything on the menu was outstanding would go on a Regent cruise again for sure Read Less

Third time on the Voyager, and sixth sailing RSSC. Good news: the regular cabins are still great; house keeping still strong and service oriented; refurb quite good; great menus in the restaurants; alhough food is very good, quality no longer outstanding, and quite inconsistent; service WAY BELOW standards we always loved. Never had to ask for coffee, water and beverages in the past —— this time it was the norm. Wifi was the WORST! Regent probably had no choice but to give it for free. Been involved in mergers and acquisitions —— understand how new owners assume that they can operate the new acquisitions better and more economically than previous owners. In my opinion NCL either reduced F and B staffing or have new members that are not well trained. Captain and crew did a great job navigating the storm! Felt sorry for the room service waiters —— they really had a workout! Took our first Crystal cruse last year. Other than cabin size, service and food was superior. Read Less

From the moment we were greeted at embarkation to the moment we left the ship our experience was one of total enjoyment, comfort, respect and outstanding service. Our suite was kept immaculate, Our Butler was one of if not the best in all our years of sailing. Dining was a pleasure and fine dining is the best description. The preparation and special requests were outstanding and innovative. Although I believe the beef was not the top quality I experienced in the past. I give the waitstaff mixed reviews. Compass Rose only one stood out while the others seemed lost. Prime 7, The whole experience from the Maitre'D to the waiters to the runners were amazing. I wasn't a fan of the shows ( I'm usually not) but the other guests seemed to enjoy. Diverting around rough seas was a great choice and adding a port shows the commitment on Regent to keep the guests in their thought process. Read Less

We had heard of regent cruise thought we should check it out. The ship was in great shape having been recently remodeled. We had a large room, probably too large but it was nice We had a butler who was very attentive and met all of our needs. While we are not foodies per se the food was more than acceptable. The options for the food were extensive. We had canapés brought to our suite nightly. Our suite was stocked with favorite adult beverages ranging from beer to out desired alcohol. Off boat excursions were plentiful and for the most part included. We were somewhat disappointed that the ship left port at either 5 or 6 nightly. We would have liked to spend an evening in the casino at Monte Carlo or had some local food at say Sicily or Capri. The distances were such that they appeared to be close enough to depart a bit later. We thought that the attentiveness and dedication of the staff was above most other cruises we have been on. They were very attentive and we anxious to make everyone happy. The dining selections included steak .italian, salad bar,Asian and French. Poolside grill was always a good place to have a small dinner. One observation which was rather curious. The ship was 40% Asian. Regent we were told, has changed focus and is now marketing their product to the chinese populous. Rather interesting we were sitting with a couple from Hong Kong. They were not pleased for they had talked to mainline chinese and had found out that these people had paid 40% less than they paid. As a result of the concentration of the chineses it was felt that the food was more focused on their needs than on other cruises, unfortunately the mainline folks are more of a rush and don’t respect ques or lines. Funny the Hong Kong Chinese had a bigger problem with the mainline folks than the rest of us. I will look into this new focus on the part of Regent to find out if this is in fact the case. If so this may influence our future choices. Entertainment was more on the site of mediocre. After 2 shows we just decided to skip. Read Less

We have been sailing with Regent since the beginning, over 25 years. We can't say enough how disappointed we were with this cruise. We booked a Master Suite, the best cabin on the ship. While the cabin was spacious, the shower stall was so small you couldn't even bend over. Secondly we had leaks in the room for the first 5 days of the cruise. We had wet carpet every single day for the first 5 days. There was also a stain on the carpet in the living area that they never were able to get up. We think that the cabin was full of mold as both my husband's and my allergies were terrible. We did ask that they take the carpet up and put down new carpet, but they never did. We had always enjoyed the food before on Regent but this time. We went to Prime 7 several times and each time the steak (filet) was so tough you could barely chew it. I tried to order the lamb, but each time it was also so tough that you couldn't chew it. We ordered the crab legs and they literally served us a pile of crab meat, most all of it from the body of the crab!! That is not crab legs, just crab meat. They did fix this the next time, but they told us that we had to order "tubes". Not sure why when the menu says crab legs you have to order "tubes". We have never had to do that before. Omelets were horrible as the eggs were never cooked. When you tired to order fried eggs they were either over cooked, or under cooked. The food service in the restaurants was generally good, the food however, was horrible. Now, let's talk about the wine and beverage service. It appeared to us that they have really cut down the beverage staff. More than once, we had to wait over 20 minutes for a person to even take our beverage order! While we have always had to work a little to find a wine that we liked, we never did find a drinkable red wine on board this ship. We did find a few white wines that we could tolerate, ( even though we prefer red wine) but each time once we had the wine and in 2-3 days they ran out of that wine. We found the wines to be extremely cheap and not of the quality that we had come to enjoy on Regent. We also found that the bar staff couldn't make any drink that we ordered. The cosmopolitan's were undrinkable. The Lemon Drop's were undrinkable. A Vodka tonic was horrible. Finally our butler explained to us what was happening. If you didn't call a vodka name, they were pouring a super cheap polish vodka. WHAT? This is a cruise that cost us well over $2,000 a night!!! The advertising claims fine wines and spirits, not so!! We sent a bag of laundry to have it be laundered. It came back smelling worse than when we sent it in. We should have sent it back, but we just washed it ourselves. Now, let's talk about shore excursions. We booked all of our shore excursions the first day or two that they were available to book. By the time that we sailed 4 of them had been cancelled and we had to put them back on wait list. Three of them never did come through!! Now, I have no idea which passengers they decided to cancel off of a prearranged shore excursion, but you would think that the people who booked first and who were in the BEST cabin onboard the ship might have had some precedence. When I asked the shore excursion people, they claimed that they had no idea. So, the included shore excursions aren't worth much, when you can't even book them!! And, they never made any accommodations for shore excursions that they canceled. Entertainment isn't the most important item to us, but we did find that the crew shows were a disappointment. In the past we have always found the crew cast to be amazing dancers and singers. This time we found them to be very lacking. Let's talk about the Navigator a bit. Obviously it is time to retire this ship. Can't think of one thing to like about this ship, besides it's size. We will never ever go on this ship again! We had 3 additional cruises booked on Regent. We did cancel one of them and tried to cancel the one coming up in December but the cancellation penalty was $36,000. So, we are going, but not by choice. I wanted to try Regent's new ship Explorer and the transatlantic crossing gave me lots of sea days to explore the ship. We also had some interesting ports of call in Madeira and Spain. We flew into Miami on our own and used a hotel shuttle to get to the cruise port. Very easy and economical. First time I've been on a ship that joined in a search and rescue for a passenger overboard.The captain and cruise director kept us informed of what was going on as several cruise ships joined in searching the grid along with Coast Guard out of Spain. Fortunately it was not one of our ship passengers or crew. The search was not successful and was called off after about 12 hours as odds of surviving that long in the cold water were not feasible. Service was excellent everywhere. Disappointed that the onboard lecture series did not exist, especially with so many sea days. When I inquired they told me the lecturer had to cancel at the last minute. I think they should have tried to come up with something. New layout of cabins on this ship and decided it was worth it to upgrade to the lowest level concierge. They actually turn the cabin so the bed looks out through the balcony doors instead of a blank wall. Dining was excellent. Prime 7 layout is huge. Chartreuse wall banquets are not meant to hold people.. Read Less

If I can help out anyone from making an awful decision please choose somewhere else to cruise with. Don’t let the ALL an inclusive trick you. I would of much rather paid for better quality than what you get for free. The staff is rude the food is horrible and you have few options to eat at. Everyday you are at a port and ran from morning until night and then they MAKE you get dressed up just to walk around the boat not just to go to dinner. It was the worse trip of my life!! Everyday we docked or took off my room was up front I heard everything I got little sleep and was NOT even allowed to use my veranda because it distracted the bridge so why get a veranda then?!?!? I asked to move and they would down grade me 4 levels but would NOT refund the difference I paid for the suite versus down below they said it wasn’t the ships fault. I could go on and on BUT bottom line is this is a lying, horrible cruise company and steer clear enjoy your hard earned money somewhere else rather than paying them for abuse and bad food! We did the Barcelona-to-Rome cruise leaving Barcelona April 2018 and had a great time. The room sizes are far better than any others we have seen, and include a walk-in closet and spacious bathroom--not amenities you normally find on a cruise ship. The public areas, bars, pool area were all great, and I particularly liked the health club on the 6th floor. In addition, Regent's arrival (at the airport) and departure experiences were really well done. We had been on a river cruise with AMA in 2017 and went on this cruise with a couple who had been on a different AMA river cruise last year. All of us thought that Regent's food, while OK, did not match AMA. Maybe that reflects preparing food for 750 versus 140, but anyway that's our view. The three specialty restaurants on the Regent Explorer were quite good, although again my wife and I thought our one dinner at the AMA "Captain's Table" was even more special. We thought the tours were generally pretty good, but there were two occasions where tours included stops at facilities that were just attempts to sell stuff to folks on the tour. One on Mallorca took the group quite a long way to a rather worthless tour of a synthetic pearl factory, ending with too much free time in the factory's gift shop. Then we had a tour to that began in the little French village of Eze, which is a fantastic place, and ended in Monaco, which is also well worth seeing. But stuck between them was a tour of a perfume factory, again dumping you in their showroom at the end, and providing more time than necessary. Regent should delete the commercial stops from their tours, in my view. Those are my suggestions for improvement; overall it was a great time and the experience generally matched up with the premium price Regent commands. We would probably sail with them again and are considering a Baltic cruise in a year or two. Read Less

Everything about this cruise was amazing and exceeded our expectations in every way. The ship, the service, the cabin, the fine dining, the casual dining, the pool area, the entertainment and shore excursions were all as described or better! My favourite restaurants were Prime 7 and Compass Rose, which does not require a booking and is also fabulous for a 'posh' breakfast! A free shore excursion not to be missed is the Mallorca Wine Tasting & Spanish Tapas. The visit to the Bodega Ribas winery is simply exceptional and was hosted by a female staff member who spoke perfect, clear English and enthralled us all with her humour, passion and knowledge! The winery tour was followed by a sit down wine-tasting accompanied by a delicious tapas of bread, olive oil, olives, meats etc.in an original stone house circa 1711! The presentation was gorgeous... the tables were beautifully set and adorned with white linen, silver cutlery and fine glassware. We found the cruise to be exceptional value, even the washing and ironing was an extra freebie. We also had to request a 2nd internet log-in (due to a work issue that we both needed to work on at the same time) and this was provided to us at no extra cost even though it was not included in our fare. We recommend this cruise/ship to others and are already planning our next cruise with Regent Seven Seas Cruises! Read Less

We thought Regent Seven Seas was a "premium" cruise line. It's not. From the first day there were problems. In our cabin, we tried to turn on the tv to see the safety information. The tv didn't work, so we tried to call someone to fix the tv. The phone didn't work either. One night we turned on the bathroom faucet and muddy, dirty water came out and didn't clear up until the next day or so. Another night the toilet didn't work. Our bathroom door wouldn't shut. After workmen came to fix it, when they left we tried to open it and the handle fell off. The food was mediocre. The waitstaff in the restaurants kept getting the orders wrong, or forgot to bring orders at all. The reception clerks were perfunctory and didn't seem to know what they were doing. The "unlimited" wi-fi either didn't work at all on some days or on other days it was intermittent and slow. There was a big leak in our bathroom. Our shower didn't drain, so we showered in pools of water. The women's public rest rooms had broken toilet seats and doors. The wallpaper on one of the walls in our cabin was peeling off, so workmen had to come in and replace it. We had hoped for a relaxing and pleasant cruise, but with the constant stream of workmen coming in and out of our cabin to fix things, it was one interruption after another. By the end of the cruise, I had a serious eye infection and both my wife and I had severe allergy problems, probably from exposure to all the work dust and fumes. Maybe things changed when Regent was taken over by Norwegian Cruise Lines and Apollo Mgt. That's what other passengers told us. They are obviously trying to cut back and have turned what may have once been an upscale cruise line into a mediocre one, certainly not worth the money they charge. Read Less

Whilst the ship in general was really luxurious the time given to the shipyard to complete the fitting out showed in many areas:- Balcony door could not be opened from the outside on 3 occasions. Shower head was hanging loose from ceiling in cabin Painting on a wall in cabin 15mm on the slant, visible and noticeable. In the Meridian lounge part of the ceiling decorations fell to the floor, luckily nobody was hurt. Marble in shower and toilet were badly stained, possibly from chemicals in the water as the walls (same marble) were clean. Piece of decorative grill in theatre broke away when slightly leaning against it. Whilst all but the stained marble (was told there were many cabins like this and it was a warranty issue with the suppliers) were dealt with in a few hours it did raise questions of why (a) nobody had reported them before - the ship had been at sea for over 2 years (b) why cabin steward had not reported these problems There were several other very minor finishing touches that were of either a poor quality or had just not stood the test of 2 years in service. There was also confusion regarding dress code in Compass Rose, Men had to wear trousers (not jeans as the other ships) BUT on the last night we were informed casual dress was OK - the crew member on the door on the last night was not informed and he was sending fellow passengers to La Veranda for their final meal. I showed the crew member a copy of Passages where the relaxed dress code was mentioned but he still had to go to the Manager for confirmation. Read Less

We had a great time on the Explorer! The most outstanding thing was the customer service in EVERY aspect! The employees are so personable and nice. Their work ethic is incredible! Our room (Concierge) was spacious and the bed was so comfortable. They came in to clean and make everything perfect twice a day. Anything we requested was immediately attended to. Room service in the middle of the night - no problem. We went on excursions every day with the port-intensive itinerary, so we only attended 2 of the evening shows. We had great dinners every night with unbelievable service and attention. Our favorite was the Pacific Rim. It was over-the-top on food and presentation. All of the restaurants had excellent customer service. We were glad we did the pre-cruise night in Barcelona at the Fairmont so we had a chance to regroup after the international flight. The Business Class air rounded it all up to a truly great vacation! Read Less

We spent three days in Venice, prior to embarkation. Embarkation took less than fifteen minutes and then a pleasant lunch at La Veranda. We were in our room by 2:30. Very nice room with plenty of closet space and a butler who could answer any question and solve most problems. We ate at all the restaurants and generally had very good, but not great food. Explorer does a better job with seafood than with beef. Pacific Rim: If you really like Asian cuisines, then Pacific Rim will be a disappointment. A saute pan on an induction cook-top just does not produce the same results as a wok over an open flame. The wine selections do not pair that well with Asian foods. Same menu as web site every night. Prime7: Great prime rib, very good pork and fair to middling beef. Regent claims they only use dry aged USDA prime beef, but I doubt it. Same menu as web site every night. Chartreuse: Very good, if you stick with the fish. Same menu as web site every night. Compass Rose: Favorite restaurant on Explorer. Menu changes on a daily basis and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Sette Mari: Had some excellent meals and never a wait for a table. Menu specials change each evening and the pasta station does a great job. You can make a meal just from the Antipasto Buffet. La Veranda and Pool Grill: Excellent buffets. Wine: House wines are OK, but you really need to ask about everything they are pouring and not just what is initially suggested. The Connoisseur's Wine List has some great deals with markups well bellow what you see in most restaurants. The Culinary Arts Center is great and you should make every effort to schedule a class. We did a Market to Table Excursion in Korfu that could not have been better. Went out to the market in the morning, bought ingredients, and then came back and cooked it in the afternoon. Chef Kelley and her team were great. The Explorer is a gorgeous ship with a multitude of very comfortable public spaces. There is original art on display everywhere you turn. The crew is very well trained and make a point of making sure you are a satisfied customer. The gym is large and well equipped and never crowded. Not a spa person, so can't comment on Canyon Ranch. If you select cruises based on the quality of the entertainment, then Regent is not your cruise line. We liked all the ports (part of the reason we selected the cruise) and with one exception the excursion guides were excellent. We took an excursion in every port with a mix of free and Regent Select itineraries (some were excellent, others OK, but none were bad). There was someone from Destination Services on all of our excursions. All of the buses were fairly new and very clean. Disembarkation was quick and easy, but we did not have a plane to catch. When they said this was a luxury cruise, they weren't kidding. This cruise was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our suite was exceptional with plenty of room, a real-live walk-in closet, spacious bathroom and beautiful balcony. In a New York hotel you could only dream of getting a room this large and well-equipped. It didn't hurt that we were greeted with a nice, cold bottle of champagne. The room was only topped by the service. The staff in the bars and restaurants delivered top flight service that also had a fun, personal touch. The maitre'd Lorenzo along with the waiters Thomas and Mauricio took great care of us. Speaking of food, we really enjoyed all the restaurants. The real surprise for us was the Setti Mare Italian restaurant. It didn't require reservations and the food was inventive and delicious. The Observation Lounge (looking out over the bridge) became a favorite spot to watch the sun go down as we pulled out of port. The excursions were outstanding. Both the included excursions and the premium outings. The ship encountered bad weather forcing us to skip Portofino and go to La Spezia instead. This meant that the Destination Services people had to reorganize virtually every outing for every passenger and they did it with a smile. Their efforts were heroic. Entertainment on the ship was headed up by the great Cruise Director Ray Solaire. Everything was well done and nicely produced although I do wish the music was a bit more modern. Also on the cruise was an expert from The Smithsonian who gave lectures regarding the history of the various cities we were visiting. Extremely well done and very informative. My only real complaint was a small one. While it was nice to have Wi-Fi on board, it was too slow to really be of any use. Make no mistake, this cruise was expensive, but I think it was worth every penny. Overall, the entire cruise was an incredible experience on and off the ship. Would love to cruise on this ship again. We've chosen this trip because of the places to visit. We cruised before with Princess and Crystal and were very satisfied. This time we decided to "upgrade" and also liked the itinerary. Unfortunately, will never recommend Regent cruise line or use it again: service is very mediocre: staff is pleasant, smiling but not very helpful: either language barrier or lack of knowledge. The food during the 9 days was a hit and miss: The first time our veal chop was perfect while the one before the last day was totally raw. When we called the dining room supervisor and showed that it was not edible, the plate was picked up and no substitute food was offered. Dining rooms were always understaffed & supervision very poor. The choices for simple salad dishes were very poor and limited. For a glass of water or wine, often had to wait up to 25-30 minutes. The entertainment was for amateurs, not one evening was there anything to enjoy or of good quality... One night when my husband spent dinner time with me at the doctors, upon return to the cabin after 11o'clock pm. he called room service to get some some food: after several minutes of frustration (not having this, nor that..) he said: "can you bring some cheese and crackers?" That was all a 6 star ship could provide for their guest who spent the evening in the emergency room with his wife and missed dinner... Read Less

Having cruised previously on Oceania and Seabourn among others, I was looking forward to the Regent experience - expecting it to be far superior to Oceania and on par with Seabourn or better. I won't get into the whole reasons why, but I totally will not cruise on Regent again. We upgraded to the Penthouse A category and although Voyager was supposed to have recently undergone a complete refurbishment - the decor was very plain and dull. We expected the penthouse to be nicer but Oceania Riviera was far better with two sinks in the bathroom along with a full free standing shower with shower head rather than a hand held mounted one. The tub on Oceania PH was jetted. Our butler was very formal and not welcoming or warm. When we did ask her to inquire about changing our specialty dining time she promised to check yet never got back to us.When we saw that Regent tours did not allow requests for handicapped seating in advance she promised to check it out for us, then never did. When she saw our wine bottle had been emptied, she didn't bother to replace. The cabin attendants put my Regent tote bag under the bed when it was full of my belongings from the day trip and i panicked when I could not find it later in the night. We told her that possibly it had been left at screening. She promised to help and said she would ask the cabin attendants to look for it. I then started looking again and checked under the bed where it had been laid on top of our emptied suitcases. So it was tucked away intentionally. She should have known that may have been the case and tried to look for it for me. The food was not even close to as good as Oceania. The timing the restaurants closed was also inconvenient if you took the included tours. They always returned you to the ship too late for dinner in the Compass Rose and barely in time for the Veranda - which was mediocre at best. We will not choose Regent again unless there is a fabulous itinerary and if the ship is the new Explorer. Otherwise will probably stick with Oceania. Looking forward to trying Crystal. Read Less

We wanted to stop off on the way in London for a few days. We paid over $1000 each extra to do that. We gave them the flight numbers. Two weeks before we left we found our flights were different and we were not even in London. Regents was not helpful at all. They rerouted us to other flights even though our original flights were still available. Not even nice about it. Rude rude rude. I asked for our custom air charge back. They said no. They said they would not give us our original flights back (it was a Regents error that caused the change) because the flights had gone up. We did end up getting some of it back thanks to our travel agent who spent hours and hours on this! Then on our way home we were caught up in a British Air computer fiasco. We ended up flying home on United for an additional $4600. British refunded our ticket price but gave it to Regents and Regents kept it. They would not even consider refunding us that money to help offset the $4600. Never again!!!! It was the worst customer service I have ever experience. We are taking two cruises this year for a total of 5 weeks and you can bet it is not on Regents. I also found the service very good on board but they were not friendly. No one learned your name and they rarely smile. Just not the vibe you get from other lines like Crystal and Seabourn. Kind of disappointing. Read Less
