As a solo traveler I had hoped that this cruise would be enjoyable, it wasn’t. A lot of the time I felt that the ship was too crowded and it could be difficult to enjoy everything it had to offer. For instance, the sun loungers. Plenty of them, but most draped with towels even though no one was using them. Obviously people would bag their lounger and keep it all day. The lido restaurant, often I had to eat later than I wanted to as there were no free tables. The staff were efficient at clearing the tables but the layout of the food areas was confusing. It would be better if the service area was more thoughtfully laid out. Lots of people seemed to be walking around looking for things. The cost of drinks on board was very high, not unlike London hotel prices. Fair enough, however, I was charged an exorbitant £25 for a large glass of Cloudy Bay wine in the restaurant! Plus all drinks carry an extra 15% service charge, and then they leave space for another gratuity. All this when you are also paying a “one off” service charge of $161 per person for the fortnight. Previously sailed on various P & O cruises but over the years their service and cut backs has put us off so we had heard from friends that Cunard was better. We love dressing up and the four formal evenings are what we wanted. They insist on smart dress on all other nights, men wear jackets to dinner. Again we haven’t a problem with this. However, what we do object to is 15% surcharge on all drinks! The wine at dinner is unbelieveably expensive. Cheapest bottle of wine $29 plus the 15% surcharge! Bring your own wine and you pay a $20 corkage fee plus 15%! Did notice that quite a number of guests at dinner were not drinking. Meals are what you used to call ‘nouveau cuisine’ and although quite different, sometimes not very appetising. Coach from ship to port entry at Barcelona cost $6 each way per person. What they failed to tell you is that there is a local cruise bus which cost 4euro’s both ways and are regular. Shows on the whole are weak. On P & O we had celebrity guests. Not so on Cunard. Took trip to Pisa. Amazing place but..........no time to visit inside, Baptist, catherdral or the leaning tower. 50 mins all we had to look around outside. Far too many crowds to visit inside any of these attractions in the time allocated. Although entry to catherdral was free, you had to queue for a ticket to enter at a separate location, then queue to enter building. It could have been organised that tickets could have been obtained in advance so as guest could visit the catherdral directly. Would we use Cunard again, possibly not. The biggest bug bear is that they rip you off at every turn more so than P & O. Plus we still have to pay the service charge at the end of the cruise at $11.50 per person, per day. What the icing on the cake was that we paid nearly £6,000 for two. A couple on our table was on the same floor and with the same view & balcony who paid £2500 for the same cruise. All aspects of embarkation, room, public areas on board ship were excellent. The only thing that let the ship down was the extortionate charges for drinks and other amenities on board. In the first instance, the daily “service charge” for a couple is $23 per day (current exchange rate £1.27) which amounts to £18.11 x 14 night cruise amounts to £253.54. Then everything purchased on board is levied with a 15% service charge, no matter what. Cheapest bottle of wine in restaurant is $29. Average was around $45 plus 15% service change. If you take your own wine to the restaurant, then it’s $20 plus 15%! So if you are use to having wine with your dinner, it can get rather expensive. After dinner drinks are on average $20 each, so again things can mount up. Dining in the Veranda Restaurant will cost you close on $40 each plus of course any drinks you have during and after you meal. If visiting the theatre and you want a box for the shows, again this will cost you $60 plus 15%! But be aware the show is only on for 45 minutes. The shows on the whole were average, although the two nights with the comedians and the two nights with The Beatles Experience were first class. All other shows were passable, but bear in mind that this only accounted for 4 out of the 14 day trip! The two daily speakers were OK but one was about Customs and Excise, the other was about Military Bands, so if you are into either then it would be right down your alley – but not mine!. Read Less

If you’d like to cruise on the Baltic and visit some of its interesting ports, then a trip on the Queen Victoria may be just up your street. The Queen Victoria is basically a floating 5 star hotel. Designed with more American taste in mind (you are in state rooms - not cabins) - but if you ignore this, it is a very pleasant way to spend two weeks aboard ship. Like everything in life though, there are pros and cons but in the main it is a pleasurable experience - if you have the money! Cruising is not a cheap pastime and certainly the Queen Victoria is not cheap. Be prepared to pay $11.50 per day each for a service charge This is supposed to be a gratuity that is split among the crew. Of course one might argue that if they were paid a decent wage tipping would be unnecessary. Personally, I find having to tip someone for doing their job is patronising but that’s just me. However, you can opt out of this by seeking the purser’s office and telling them you’d rather not get involved in the scheme and pay people individually. The other catch is that you are charged 15% on every drink that you purchase - what the justification is for this I don’t know. I wouldn’t mind if the drinks were cheaper in the first place (what happened to duty free?). To give you an idea expect to pay $13.95 + 15% for a large glass of Pinot Grigot - total $16.04 or a pint of London Pride Bitter $6.95 + 15% - total $7.99. Wine in the restaurants isn’t cheap either. I paid $40.00 + 15% = $46.00 and that was one of the less expensive bottles. The pound at the time of writing is currently $1.27 so for the Pinot Grigot for instance you are paying £12.62. Having said all this, the staff are marvellous and very welcoming. Nothing seems to be too much for them and they seem genuinely concerned that you have a good time. The food on Queen Victoria is excellent. One can choose to eat in the Britania restaurant - which is silver service all the time ie. breakfast, lunch and dinner. Or can choose the more relaxed style of the Lido restaurant which is self service. In either place, the quality and amount of food is outstanding. The only drawback of having dinner in the Britania restaurant is that you have a fixed time and men must wear a jacket (dinner jacket on gala nights). There are also other restaurants on board but they involve paying a supplement. We had dinner in the Verandah and it was very good. Accommodation is extremely comfortable. We had a cabin with a balcony and it does make all the difference if you want some privacy. Passengers are kept up to date by a daily newspaper and daily programme of events left in the cabin by the steward. Dressing gowns and slippers are also provided for your own use and you can even buy the dressing gown from your steward to take home. Be warned though, you might find that you’ll be asked for $75 each for the privelege. Interestingly, the purser told me it was only $35 while another passenger told me he paid $55! If there was one gripe I had about the accommodation though it was non functioning toilets. Most mornings it didn’t work for about half an hour - most unpleasant. The trip on Queen Victoria was our second cruise (last year P&O’s Oceana) and like the previous ship enjoyed the evening entertainment. Now bear in mind that the majority of people on these ships are around the 60 mark so the entertainment is geared up to them. The stage shows were very good and the performers were talented however some in our group thought they were a bit ‘samey’. The other aspect of the activities offered on Queen Victoria are afternoon dances. It seems cruising is a favourite way of dance fans to spend there time. Finally, on our cruise we were offered a number of talks by experts - well, it’s up to you if you find them interesting or not. For example because we were visiting St. Petersburg, we had a couple of talks on the Russian revolution and Faberge eggs - all relevant of course but you’d be surprised at the amount of people who weren’t interested. In summary, would I recommend this ship - undoubtedly yes. Bon voyage. Read Less

Expected a top of the line cruise and for the best part not dissapointed. On par with Celebrity cruises that we have done in the past. Having to dress up with a Jacket every night after 6pm got a little tiresome especially when it ruined a 20s Dress up night. If you love Ballroom dancing this is the cruise for you. Food is great even in the Buffet restaurant. The abundance of quality juices for free in the Lido restaurant at any time is very welcomed. Best entertainment by the ships singers and dancers that we have ever seen,quality westend type of performances. Lots of costume changes and great choreography. Entertainers on for just that cruise very high quality. Liked the guest speakers like Sir Michael Parkinson. We stayed in a Deluxe inside cabin that was set up for mobility challenged guest it was huge and a real treat to come home to . Missed the luxury of face cloth sized hand towels in the restrooms. Drinks are expensive like most cruise companies. Almost no Low sugar drink options just Diet Coke or water. Waiters to take drink orders are very rare to find. Each room attendant works on their own and services 16 cabins . Tipping individually proves to be the best way to reward the 4 persons that we dealt with each day. First cruise line we have used onboard cruise excursions. They were reasonably priced and with Gibraltar got us to the Rock very quickly and early. We had a rude French speaking bus driver in Corsica that would drive us mad singing with one hand only on the wheel . We got 50% refund following a complaint. Ship beautiful, crew fantastic, courteous, efficient, caring. Would book again... but excursions.... Oporto went on boat / wine making tour. 3 hrs. Guide extremely poor. Got to Port Wine making business for tour and waited 30 mins in dark reception. Weren’t aware we were coming! So didn’t let us in! Boat trip was rushed and guide on mobile all time trying to find another company to do wine tour. Then she rushed group through town to coach and left elderly behind as could walk at her fast speed. Then lost tour members, and another 40 mins lost trying to find them while coach parked on roundabout. No time to see Oporto shops or wander as so disorganised! Then Carriage Tour in La Rochelle- well it was a cart! And heavy rain and everyone got soaked. No plan B by tour company. Spent 40 mins sheltering in local church waiting for coach. Very poor organisation again and yet high cost. Q.V. is wonderful ship but do your own tours by local taxi- will be cheaper and you’ll use your own time wisely. Read Less

We arrived around 11.30 and the terminal was already fairly busy. The bag drops are just outside the terminal building and split by deck number. It would have been useful if our e ticket had explained that in advance. Check in was fairly swift with 3 desks dedicated to grills passengers with a separate seating area after check in (though not particularly luxurious utilising the same seats as the rest of the terminal). We started to go through airport style security at 12.00 which again was swift and we were on the ship in no time. There were lots of staff on hand to direct us to the lifts but no one showed us to our cabin. Our first bag was already outside our cabin (Q4) when we arrived and the second arrived very soon afterwards - very impressive. Our assistant butler arrived soon after we got there. He brought our drinks order slip for the cabin bar and was very keen to get us to fill it in without really giving us time to think about what was available. This had a larger choice than we had anticipated from reading the reviews and blogs. There was a choice of 3 scotches and Jack Daniels, other spirits and around 8 wines. We regretted taking wine bottles on board having seen the choice but we are still unclear whether the wine would be replenished as the assistant butler said we could choose 2 bottles. It’s a pity you can't select which drinks you want in the VP. I asked for the Carlberg in the mini bar to be replaced with Speckled Hen and cider which our assistant butler took a note of. He then disappeared without showing us around or explaining anything to us. He told us our butler was a lady and she would see us soon but she didn't appear in an hour so we went for lunch. As we approached the lifts we spotted our butler standing by the lifts (her name was on a card in the cabin and on her badge) so we introduced ourselves and asked her to unpack for us which she set off to do immediately. The unpacking was obviously done in a rush as very little was hung up in the wardrobe. Even my shirts were taken out of the case and stuffed in a drawer. We had to recover the situation on our return from lunch. When we returned to our cabin after lunch the beer and cider had arrived but not the scotch I ordered. I called the butler around 17.00 and she told me she would bring it after dinner which she did - 2 bottles of Glenfiddich. This was not the Glenfiddich I am used to as it was much darker with a stronger flavour but ok. The cabin itself was very clean and comfortable. Our butler wasn't the friendliest we have had and at times her manner was quite abrupt - I asked if they did warm canopes when she delivered the cold ones and she said "if you want warm ones I will bring them tomorrow". We certainly didn't get the feeling of nothing is too much trouble - quite the opposite initially at least. However the next day the hot canopes turned up and they were delicious. The cold canopes we didn't touch as they didn't appeal to us. The warm ones were nice but seemed to be beef and prawns every day with the occasional addition of spring rolls. They were sometimes delivered at 17.30 which put us off dinner at 18.30. We did warm to our butler as the week went on and we had several chats with her. The cabin was kept spotless throughout the journey. The towels provided are not soft and fluffy like a 5 star hotel but more like a bath sheet you would expect in a cheaper hotel. The bath robes likewise are not so luxurious. We were allocated a table in the queen's grill restaurant and a card was left in our room advising us of the table number. It wouldn't have been our first choice of table as it was right next to the server station with the wine buckets and the walkway but it was ok. Our waiter and his assistant were excellent. We asked him to change the milk for our coffee to semi skimmed on day 1 and at breakfast the following day he advised us that we already had it on the table. The choice and the food in the restaurant was probably as good as we have had on any ship although many of the dishes feature onions or garlic and creamy sauces. We did have a couple of disappointing meals where the meat was sub standard . Chateaubriand and veal cutlets were poor quality meat. Cooking at your table is actually in most instances a re heat of something cooked previously. We asked for sirloin steaks for dinner one lunchtime (you have to pre order some dishes or if you go off menu) as we didn't really fancy anything else on the menu (yes we were getting really picky by then) and the restaurant manager noted exactly what we wanted and it was really good and cooked exactly as we asked. I am not a fan of having to pre order my meals as I like to decide at the time what I feel like not 8 hours in advance. Coffee and tea at dinner is included. Coffee at breakfast tends to be on the cool side and not particularly good. The table in the QG restaurant is for your sole use throughout the cruise so there is never any pressure to vacate your table. The allocated table system has good and bad points - you do get used to your waiters and they know your preferences but if you don't strike up a good relationship with them or the people at the adjacent table then you are stuck with that for the cruise. Likewise if you don't like the table position you can't switch it to another. On balance I would prefer to choose my table and as we eat early we normally have a good choice. The windows in the queen's grill restaurant were dirty throughout the whole cruise spoiling the view of the fiords. The price of drinks is well covered in the reviews – I fall into the far too expensive camp - $46 for an average bottle of wine is a rip off. Pillow menu - there were 5 on the bed and that was that. No choice or change offered. The walk in wardrobe in our Q4 was a bit of a challenge as it is quite small. We had to go inside and close the door to access some of the storage. There is a lot of storage in the cabin however. If your cruise involves a time change be warned that the clock in the cabin adjusts itself at 02.00. The clock normally clicks forward every minute anyway which can be annoying if you re trying to sleep. But at a time change it clicks 60 times nonstop to alter the time!! Security staff held us outside at the gangplank on occasions to enable crew to disembark? We have never had that on other cruise lines. The Grills deck areas not policed and apart from a small sign there is nothing preventing other passengers using them as they did frequently. On day 6 our butler advised us as we returned from breakfast that the lights in our bathroom/toilet/wardrobe had failed and they had reported the fault soon after we left the room at 08.00. We discovered that 50% of the other room lights had failed also. When we returned from our trip ashore some 3 hours later they were still not working. I called the pursers office at 11.15 and they were repaired at 11.30 - why couldn't they have responded so quickly when the butler reported the fault? Afternoon tea we avoided as a sacrifice for all the other food we had. But we had to try it once so we did. We went to the Princess Grill restaurant and it was fairly chaotic from where we viewed it. English breakfast tea was the standard issue followed by sandwiches. I asked for a scone which came with something masquerading as clotted cream. The scone was probably the worst I have ever had so I couldn't eat it. We then asked for a cake but that had to come on a 3 tier stand with 4 cakes 2 scones and sandwiches. We tried the carrot cake but left that as well. My wife asked for peppermint tea but got Moroccan mint and jasmine instead with leaves all over the teapot outside and in. Lots of the leaves went straight through the strainer and finished up in the cup making the tea unpleasant to drink. We didn't try afternoon tea again! We went to the theatre two nights - one was a singer performing with the orchestra who spent a lot of time name dropping Andrew Lloyd Webber and the other was a musical type production with reasonable dancers but poor singers - we left both shows early. There was a bit of posturing for extra gratuities towards the end of the cruise but I considered the 189 dollars taken automatically was sufficient for the service we received. Our restaurant waiter even presented us with a Cunard folder inscribed with “Hope you enjoyed the excellent service”? We packed our suitcases ourselves as it was easier to sort out what we would wear on disembarkation. Our butler didn't offer to pack for us! We received our priority labels two nights out and our gathering point was deck 3 in the Britannia restaurant. When we came back from breakfast on disembarkation day before 07.00 the butler and assistant were already stripping the cabin. We told them we wanted to use the facilities and they said ok and carried on with what they were doing in the cabin. The moved all our hand luggage to suit themselves. Disembarkation was delayed for some reason but announcements were almost non existent. We sat as requested in the deck 3 upper part of the Britannia restaurant until it became so crowded hot and noisy and we gave up our seats to some seniors (more senior than us!) with walking difficulties. We set out in search of the gangway only to find that many of our fellow passengers had the same idea. The area around the gangway stairs and lifts soon became over crowded with people unable to get out of the lifts. Eventually a young lady shouted to the masses that disembarkation was commencing but there was so much noise not everyone could hear what she said. Priority disembarkation seemed to vanish and a free for all commenced. This is the worst disembarkation I have ever encountered and was more like a cross channel ferry than a 5* cruise ship. Would we sail with Cunard again? Possibly but it would have to be a QG with a good itinerary not requiring the very expensive shore excursions and at a good price including OBC. Otherwise we are back to Regent. Read Less

We choose this ship because we are amateur ballroom dancers who want to dance every night on a large floor. We were NOT disappointed! In addition there were 3 dance hosts, lots of lessons offered in the morning, and great bands and singers for ballroom EVERY NIGHT before and after dinner! Their shows are not as great as Royal Caribbean, but everything else -- service, food, rooms, excursions, etc -- was just wonderful! (they don't really cater to children in any big way) If you like ballroom dancing every night along with a wonderful cruise, Cunard is the place to be! Doesn't matter which ship you choose, you will luv it! They often run specials so watch for them! You won't see them on any of the discount sites though since they usually sell out on their own! (If you get motion sick, use the Queen Mary as she is not a cruise ship, but an ocean liner, and handles rough water much better than any of the cruise ships on any line) Read Less

The Cunard queens have enjoyed a reputation for elegant cruising that we wanted to experience. The 14 day T/A on Queen Victoria was offered at a reasonable rate and we booked it for our first Cunard cruise. We found the public rooms spacious and well appointed. The theater/showroom is large enough to accommodate all of the passengers in the two shows each evening without reservations. There is a large ballroom where nightly big band dancing is held. The main dining venue, Britannia, and the buffet are nicely decorated and of adequate size. There is a promenade deck that goes completely around the ship. Our balcony cabin was clean and of average size with a balcony that was slightly larger then the average cruise ship balcony. The food was of the same quality one would find on Celebrity or Princess. The service was slightly better than average. We were concerned about the assigned table dining for two weeks, but found our other six table mates most enjoyable. Surprisingly, there are only two alternative dining venues, a French restaurant at a $40 per person up charge and a pub with a smaller up charge (not counting a corner of the buffet that was roped off where one can dine at a $20 up charge). Entertainment on the ship was geared to the mature audience. Shows by the cruise ship staff were better that those on the average cruise ship. Shows by other entertainers were mixed, some better, some not so good. There were at least three speakers who each put on a series of talks during the cruise. All were interesting and educational. A string quartet and a harpist provided classical entertainment daily during tea in the ballroom and at other times in the atrium. The orchestra/big band provided ballroom dance music daily. The dances were well attended and the ship provided male and female dancers so singles could enjoy dancing. Give Cunard a try if you find a cruise that interests you or if you enjoy ballroom dancing. Don't feel you're missing something if you stay with your regular cruise line. Read Less

We recently sailed South America 50 days roundtrip from/to Fort Lauderdale on Queen Victoria. Main reason for selecting this cruise was the destination ports of - Barbados, Rio, B Aires, Montevideo, Santiago, Lima, Montechristo, Equador home of Panama Hats and passage through the Panama Canal - Belize was also a pleasant surprise. The service we received from our cabin steward and restaurant and bar staff were excellent - these were by far the most helpful and best people onboard. The ships decor was very good, although a little dark in the main areas and too bare in the deck corridors (a few pictures would help). However, i would never cruise on this ship again and possibly never again with Cunard. Embarkation was a 5 hour nightmare, leaving Miami hotel at 10.00 am on a 45 min journey to FLL to then be left sitting in a waiting room with hundreds of passengers for 3.5 hours without water or any real explanation for delay. - Cunard are not good at organisation or communication - they appear oblivious to the frustrations of their customers, many of whom were as equally upset. Unfotunately this problem continued throughout the trip - we booked many shore excursions and were herded along lengthy queues into either the ballroom or theatre to sit for minimum 45 mins whilst the ship berthed or cleared immigration etc with little recognition from the shorex staff as to the poor quality of communication and organisation - only a condescending thank you for your patience over the speakers. Our final disembarkation was the worst experience and poorest organisation I have ever encountered. We were asked to vacate cabin by 8.00am latest and removed from ship by 8.15am to queue for almost 2 hours as we cleared US immigration (could have been done onboard as with other ports) - then transferred to a nearby hotel curbside and placed in a ballroom with hundreds of other passengers to await instructions about transfer to airport. There was no Cunard representative to be found, only an outsourced contractor service agent. Shuttles were arranged throughout the day - ours being the final transfer at almost 5.30pm to travel through Miami rush hour for nearly 2 hours - why we were not taken to Miami in the morning begs belief. Our driver dumped us outside departures some 25 to 30 mins haul with multiple suitcases to our check in desk. Ship to check in desk took almost 12 hours - if that is Cunards idea of hospitality and Customer service, then we, as will many others we spoke to, will not be enduring with Cunard again. The ship suffered many problems during this Exotic World Cruise - power failures, near disaster rounding Cape Horn as crew were stranded trying to take photos from a jet boat that took over 5 hours to rescue due to extremely hazardous waters and weather conditions, multiple outbreaks of throat infections, flu and gastro illness plus noro virus isolations and 5 days emegency hygienne controls due to a reported 4% incident level. If you like ballroom dancing, playing cards and dont mind paying extortionate wine prices, being entertained by acts from Britains got Talent style shows and like to be in bed between 8.30 and 9.30pm - Queen Vic may be for you, but not us. WiFi is more dial up than broadband. Read Less

Black stain in the loo, and smelt of urine! Stain of looked like dried on milk up the wall! They seriously need upgrading! The money Cunard have spent on upgrading has not gone into the balcony rooms, I guess it’s gone into the new luxury apartments! Cabin was not vacuumed for nine days! Had to ask for it to be done! Was not clean when we arrived! Food wasn’t great! The choice in the self service restaurant wasn’t good on some days! Shows were very good! Costumes were amazing! Commadores announcements were good, he kept us informed of the weather etc! The wine sommelier was excellent! The entry into Fort Lauderdale was long and tiring with only four immmigration officers to check in over two thousand Passengers! I felt sorry for the old and infirm of which there were many! The art classes were so busy with so many people we only went to a few then we gave up as it was to crowded! This was our tenth Qunard cruise! We won’t be doing another! Very disappointed! We sailed over New Year’s Eve, out of Southampton, with family & friends. This was our first time on Cunard. Windstar, by far, remains my favorite. We stayed 2 nights pre-cruise in London, it was a good choice. The ride to Southampton was almost 2 hours. Embarkation was smooth and trouble free. The ship itself was very nice. It was a bit glamorous and was still decorated for the Christmas holiday. All public areas were very clean and the ship itself is spacious. It was larger than I expected. The cabin seemed to be of almost standard size compared to other cruises, but had a very small bathroom – 1 sink, and a tiny shower. I found the number of electrical outlets to be adequate for us. The bed was very comfortable with extra pillows (5). Closet space was tight. There were plenty of bars on board, including an English Pub and a Gin Bar. Entertainment was fairly respectable: top floor had a piano player in one lounge, and then a live band mixed with a disc jockey in the dance room next door. Occasionally there was a Harpist or a quartet in the main lobby. Also the orchestra would play once in a while in the Queens Room. There were 2 shows each night in the Main Theater. I’d give each venue and performance a 4 out of 5 rating. Something I thought was interesting – one show was called Hollywood Rocks. They performed some song & dance from Hollywood for almost an hour, then ended with 7 Abba songs (which was the best part) … but Abba has nothing to do with Hollywood. The main dining room was very nice – good menu and very good service (incredibly speedy service from my experiences with main dining, and always with a smile). The buffets were always good but especially the New Year’s Eve midnight buffet (however, I missed it, but my travelling companions went on and on about how nice it was). The New Year count down was great. We were in port in Amsterdam for the midnight count down(11pm ship time) & an impressive fireworks display, then down to the main lobby for the ships countdown(midnight ship time). Cunard did it right; providing multiple venues on board to choose from. We chose the Queens Room where the orchestra was playing. Count down, hats, noise makers, balloon drop, and glasses of Champagne were provided. The casino was lively and the dealers made it enjoyable. The casino used American dollars which surprised me. Due to poor weather our stop in Belgium was cancelled, creating a 2nd sea day. We had 2 activities pre-booked for Bruges via the internet, confirmed 3 weeks prior to the cruise. We lost both with no refund. My advice would be – Do Not pre-book anything unless it’s through the ship itself. The other 2 stops were interesting - Amsterdam & Cherbourg. However …. The ships staff seemed to be put out – especially the bar staff at the Pub. Wow, these guys were terrible. They were always grumpy with a short attitude. With the other staff it was hit or miss with how we’d be greeted and treated. Maybe it's just the British attitude, I don’t know, but I certainly didn’t like it. The daily activities were hit or miss too – people would show up, but the event might be cancelled, you just never knew. The fellow passengers on Cunard were ok, but a little stand off-ish and boring. Dare I say "non-adventurous"? We are used to warm weather cruises, to destinations like the Caribbean and Mexico; usually with Americans, and I’ll say that Americans are much more enjoyable to be with. Dressing up in the evenings was very nice, our group enjoyed that, with Tuxedos and formal gowns for New Year’s Eve. Another cruise on Cunard? I might be talked into it one day. My partner had done the QM2 Transatlantic but I had never cruised before so it was all new to me and I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. We had a wonderful time on the Queen Victoria over Christmas last year, i'd thoroughly recommend it for anyone looking to get away over the festive period. We chose a deluxe inside on deck 1 and were very pleased with our cabin. There was plenty of hanging space, the bed was very comfy and our room attendant (I can't remember his name) was very good, our room seemed to always have been done whilst we were at breakfast. I thought not having a window would bother me, but as we spent very little time in our cabin I honestly didn't notice it. The food in Britannia was delicious; we ate in there every evening and a couple of lunch times (we found the lunches better than the dinners on some days). We also enjoyed breakfast in there each morning as buffets aren't really our thing. My partner and I are both in our 20's and were at the younger end of the scale on the ship, but this didn't bother us. There was plenty to keep us occupied and we made some great friends whilst on board. The ship was done up beautifully for Christmas, and we all received a lovely Cunard Wedgewood plate on Christmas morning, which was a nice gesture. The officers did a Carol Concert one evening which was enjoyable and there were other festive things one could get involved. My only slight negative from the whole cruise was the prices in the bar (as pointed out by many other people), meaning we didn't drink as much as we usually do when we holiday in other places. If they lowered the prices just slightly, I think the bars would be much busier in the evenings. We purchased a FCD whilst on board and have already booked again for October. This time we're going to try an Ocean View and see which we prefer moving forward. Read Less

As to be expected the itinerary was changed due to the weather although we did make 3 ports as planned but Rotterdam instead of Amsterdam Zeebrugge on a different day and Cherbourg. I had decided to go into a Q5 and there is no mistaking the cabin is a move up from the standard cabin. The fact the bathroom has his and her sinks a shower and a bath tells you all. 4189 is an aft corner balcony so in warmer climes you could fit 30 people on it if so inclined! You get a butler and complimentary drinks, but only for use within the cabin. Otherwise this is still a pay as you go ship. The Queens Grill was a bit of a disappointment. The menu and choice is amazing but recent changes means it's not what is once was. The A La Carte menu has shrunk and the number of items that need to be ordered by lunchtime has grown. However my big gripe is how they operate the Grill. As in Britania you have an allocated table, it works for dinner but otherwise you end up, as in my case, as a one on a table for 9! Breakfast and lunch with no thought about maybe offering open sitting so not leaving solo guests, or indeed a couple stranded on a table. The other challenge is guests arriving as they wish. On more than one occasion the cast of Ben Hur poured in at 8pm the table ordered by 8.10 and food arrived 40 mins later. I raised it with the maitre d and he apologised and had my food expedited, which was nice but left the rest of the table waiting. The Grill is supposed to be the pinnicle of culinary experience at sea, it wasn't and for me there was a creeping in of this becoming a bit of a banquet experience. My other complaint is the price of being on board the bar prices and wine list are very expensive and it was obvious that a lot of passengers were voting with their feet and not purchasing. The packages are badly thought out which doesn't help. So would I go back to the Grills, no. For the price you're expected to pay they're not worth it. Yes you get a fab suite with all the trimmings but the Food experience blighted the trip and the Britania, whilst it has its issues, is on balance much better value. My overall 3star may be a tad harsh but based on expectation and £400 a day it's not a 4star experience Read Less

A customary trip to the Caribbean in Princess grill, the suite was fine with a very efficient cabin attendant, the kitchens made a good efforts with the food and the service in the Princess Grill was commendable. The Concierge Seltran Ebillo was personable and efficient. The evenings entertainment was good particularly from the group called the Rewind Project. However the trip itself encountered bad weather and in particular on the return trip there was storm force 11 and if you have ever been in that you would know. There was little respite at night or day for around 48 hours. Waves hit like torpedos, and everything rocked and creaked. If I had a complaint it was the tannoy system. the Captain clearly liked to speak for far to long and repeat himself( - must have come from a holiday ship or something, experienced captains don't do that) and often announcements were made through the cabin speakers when they needn't have been, ie crew exercises etc. Not great when you are trying to catch up on sleep. The entertainment was very good but we are getting a bit fed up of Roy Walker who seems to have been on every cruise we have had. We had a couple of stormy days one was a force 10 the day after leaving Ponta Delgarda and the other one was sailing back through the Bay of Biscay which was force 11. In fact the captain (who only looks about 17) came on the speaker in the middle of the night to pacify the passengers. The only complaint was the passengers, we have never come across such a miserable ignorant bunch, The ship seems to attract them so no more Queen Victoria for us. One last thing, do not get on the mini buses in Barbados because the way they jam you in with the fold down seats its just a disaster waiting to happen Read Less

This was only our second cruise and we picked it because we wanted to experience the "luxury" of Cunard. We were aware that the clientele would be older and were OK with that. Embarkation in Venice was somewhat chaotic and very slow, there was not a big crowd, but it took a long time to get through the process, not really great in this automated day and age. First impressions of the ship were favourable, it was nicely appointed, and really quite stylish. It was also easy to navigate around. The room was OK (what I expected). Décor somewhat dated, but acceptable anyway. One word of warning, Cunard's website states that the cabins have UK and Euro plugs, in fact our cabin had 4 US plugs, 2 European plugs and 1 UK plug, so take your converters if you have more that one device to charge! The 1/2 bottle of sparkling wine was a nice touch. Cabin Steward was superb. Food The Lido restaurant (Buffet) is typical buffet fare, not good, not bad just average, BUT the service is poor with tables not being cleared quickly. There are free juices and coffee but it is self serve (which I was OK with). Breakfast was a bit of a scrum, the Britannia restaurant is only open 8 - 9.30, which means almost everyone hits the Lido Buffet and there simply is not enough space. Either make more space of extend the Britannia breakfast hours. Staff in the Lido seemed depressed, not sure I saw a smile all cruise! Britannia - Reasonable food, a fair choice and (in our case at least) very attentive service. Good wine choice, but very expensive. Waiters very good. Golden Lion Pub - limited lunch choice, but quite nice, service a bit hit and miss. Drinks inordinately expensive, $15 for a double G and T is a bit eye watering! Entertainment - Mixed, nothing really in the day time, other than the odd lecture and cards etc. I guess suited the older clientele, but not us, fortunately the weather was OK so we could sit on the deck and read or just catch some sun. To many of the courses are charged for (learn to use an iPad for example), and it just felt like they were nickel and diming (more on that later). Evening shows OK, on board entertainers were a bit "Saturday night live", but reasonable, the visiting acts were quite good with one being excellent. But it always had an "amateur hour" feel to it. And the entertainment director seemed to feel the need to introduce and say goodbye to every act - sometimes less is more! Excursions - Well organised and in most case quite good, but VERY expensive (similar tours could be had immediately you stepped ashore for 1/2 the price), I expect a mark up but this was too much. Disembarkation went well - we elected to "self serve" that is take our own case s off, which was effective. Transfers from the port to Rome were nothing short of profiteering, with a bus ride costing $69 and a private car $325 (it was only a taxi). There were taxis available at the port, and we pre-booked a car (port approved, pick up at the ship) for about $140. Again a mark up is OK, but this was daylight robbery! So overall I enjoyed the cruise, the ship was nice, the food was reasonable, and the itinerary was good. But I would not go on Cunard again, I can only compare it with one other cruise (Royal Caribbean) and that had a much "happier" and more lively feel. The real issue was that Cunard have a reputation for "luxury and Quality", yet my over powering feeling was that I was being nickel and dimed at every step - so slightly disapointing Read Less

We had heard much about Cunard from friends so we thought we must try it. Cunard staff were all absolutely delightful and showed genuine interest in our well being. I would single out the waitstaff in the Club Britannia restaurant in particular as being just perfect as was the food. They made our 2 weeks onboard utterly enjoyable. All lectures were stimulating and covered a broad selection of subjects and much of the evening entertainment was of very high quality The ship exudes comfort and luxury and, in the main, we had few occasions when eyebrows were raised. Our shore excursion in Genoa was a disaster because the guide poured out facts non stop without context and therefore added little to our understanding of the city. All 31 of us complained and were reimbursed 50% of the cost which was fair as we had partaken of local food and drink. We did spend many hours just drifting or at very slow speed because the Italian ports visited were very close together and this did detract from the experience of cruising as it felt more like a bus tour. We look forward to spending more time at sea on our next voyage. Several people have complained bitterly about the additional costs onboard. Yes they are steep but it is quite clear when you book as is the fact that there are different dress codes on different days but several cruisers went out of their way to ignore that and it was disappointing to note that the staff were unwilling to say anything. It was sad that when most people had made the effort to add elegance to the ambiance to find that there were some who continued to visit bars and other public spaces in very casual attire, When I raised this with ship's officers they at first said that bar staff should ask people to leave the area but Chart Room staff certainly did not and continued to serve. The officer's follow on comment was that these people had paid a lot of money to join the voyage and could therefore not be spoken to. I venture to disagree as dressing for dinner is part of the Cunard USP and if cruisers don't like it they can go to another line. I fear that Cunard is on a slippery slope to 3 star status and that will cost them their reputation for elegance and luxury. When originally booked cruise was going to spend 2 nights in Istanbul; after the problems in Turkey last year the itinerary was changed with Sarande, Albania and Heraklion, reteadded. After research into Sarande, decided to stick wit hothead reservation. From the moment I stepped on board I got the feeling that the QV was a good ship. Crew were friendly and the whole embarkation process was handled smoothly and efficiently; certainly more so than when boarding the QM for the Christmas cruise. There were even shuttle buses to take us from the terminal building to the ship. The Victoria recently came out of a refit and my cabin was immaculate. I had booked a deck 4 guarantee obstructed view cabin and was pleased to be assigned a cabin on deck 5 and the only obstruction was when looking down. I was concerned about the quality of the food given some of the reviews I had read but was very pleased with the quality and quantity of the food. I am lactose intolerant and got to chose my meals the night before and have them cooked without dairy. Lots of choice so no complaints there. Lunches were taken in the Lido except in Crete and Rhodes when I ate ashore. Lots of choices and even a few lactose free sandwiches. The salad bar was particularly good and there was no wilting lettuce. Breakfast was also usually in the Lido, usually lox and bagels and scrambled eggs on one day when a new pan appeared in front of me. The bread and rolls were freshly baked and far too tempting! I took one course on using an IPad for photography. I wish it had been offered on one of the sea days before our first excursion as it had lots of good advice and was worth the $15 charge. I did not attend the shows, nor did I attend any of the lectures. Neither interested me. I had hoped there would be something on the history and culture of the area in which we were sailing rather than an ex White House staffer from the “W” era or some one talking about pop music. Enjoyed listenening to the string quartet, and the hardest on a couple of occasions and watching the ballroom dancers. Most passengers were from UK and man, many of themcould dance! We chose this cruise for the itinery, Venice to Athens. The check in and out was seemless. The ship had been refurbished beautifully, our cabin-balcony was large enough and very comfortable. The food in the Britannia restaurant was top class, with top class service. The Lido buffet restaurant had everything you could want and was mostly very nice. There were a variety of bars, a pub and nightclub which was always nearly empty. We usually stayed at the back of the ship pool area which had a few lovely daybeds with shade. The only thing was that to go anywhere but the nightclub, pool deck bar and winter garden bar, (which was lovely, but usually empty), gentlemen had to wear a jacket, which was not ideal, even to go in the pub a jacket was required, which we thought was unnecessary, collared shirt should have sufficed. There was a wide variety of ages, but mostly elderly on board. The band played some good music, but catered more for older guests. Formal night masquerade ball, did not require a mask even though we wore them. Not all guests wore formal wear, so long dresses were not a must for the ladies. First off, let me say the ONLY reason I'm taking the time to write this review is because of the constant nickle and diming of Cunard and their stingy ways. Otherwise I'd have just blown even the extra $3,500 off. But they're just stingy and to the bone. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary mostly - however, I am confused why we called a couple ports - and because of Cunard's reputation and reviews. We had priority embarkation so that was flawless. The community rooms, except for the Lido dining area, of the ship are well decorated with stunning under stated taste. Cunard had a half bottle of complementary sparkling win in our room which was a nice touch. That's where my amazement ended. Embarkation is at 2:00 and coincidentally lunch is over at 2:00-ish. We dropped our stuff off in the underwhelming state room (See Cabin Review Section about the stateroom's decoration and abysmal bathroom.). When we headed up to the Lido, which is decorated circa 1995 in pale blues, ugly yellow and white wood and can be hot, we found that not twenty minutes after getting on the ship on a turn-around day, they were closing up shop for lunch. I had to find a manager to leave the salad bar open. There is literally nothing to eat but mostly bread, skimpy on the filling sandwiches and cookies - all fattening - between 2:30 and 5:30ish on the ship. I don't like bread. I ended up hording bananas and cereal in our room. Other problems with the Lido dining are lack of service in at breakfast and on deck and surcharges to eat on the Lido in the evening. In the morning, there is NO table service. The food is good - in fact, except for the specialty restaurant - it is basically the only excellent food on the ship. The food is fresh prepared daily on the ship, there is a wide variety of foods, and the eggs and omelets are prepared to order. However, the beverage area is a free for all - Seriously. Oceana, or any high end hotel, has a server bring water, coffee and juices. Not Cunard. And forget any service on the deck in the pool area if you aren't ordering something that you have to pay for - like COKES. Yes, the charge nearly $3.00 for soft drinks. The Britiana dining room has food that is obviously not prepared on site. It is bland. It all tastes the same. The beef was TOUGH. And forget a vegetable. Well unless you like your vegetables drowned in the same brown gravy the meat is drowned in - day after day. So we tried the Lido one night. Um, no. The food is fresh prepared and not bad, but there is a surcharge to dine there of nearly $18.00. And the other side is a buffet style, lunch place. No, just no. The specialty restaurant was pretty good, but as per usual, they were stingy. They served a seven course meal that was quite good, but the wine paring - which was NOT INCLUDED - was two SHORT, AND I MEAN VERY SHORT glasses of wine for six courses! That's a sip of wine per course literally. And the wine didn't necessary pair well with all the courses it's supposed to pare with. WHAT?!? Normally it's a different wine per course or SOMETIMES a restaurant will combine two courses such as specialty breads and a light soup for just one glass of wine. The final course came with a so-so desert wine. And before all the diners had left the dining room they were clanking own the cages over the bar and making OBVIOUS attempts to move us along. Which brings me to the beverage prices on board. I already mentioned the charge for sodas. Wait for this. There is NO complimentary bottled water on board. There is no specialty fountains for filling Nalgenes or any other portable water device. Bottled water, wait for it, is $19.25 for a six pack of a liter and a half bottles or $3.00 for a half a liter - No, I'm not kidding. Wine? Expensive. Ordinary, and I mean nothing stellar, bottles of wine were $50 and up. Our wine package was $425 and it was only good in the Britiana which is the main dining room. Couldn't use it in the specialty dining room. OMG, and a glass of wine in the bars or in any dining room was $13.50 - nothing special either - plus 15% gratuity. Service in the Britania was so-so. And now we get down to the real cheap part. They CHARGED US $22 PER HEAD TO GET FROM THE SHIP TO SAINT MARK'S SQUARE IN VENICE. Yes. That happened. On one of our excursions that was eight hours, LUNCH WASN'T INCLUDED! And the coup de gras, and actually why I'm writing this review, is we bought a wifi package - expensive BTW, and the wifi was so horrible I couldn't get onto my bank. I talked to the lady who runs the cybershop's boss and he told me I needed to go ashore to get good wifi. Going ashore in this particular case was a fifteen minutes walk - and of course, as cheap as they are, they had no shuttles to take you to the terminal building. Anyway, they REFUSED to refund me the whole time I was logged on trying to get onto my bank. That's just stupid. I told them I would write a negative review, and nada. Another bone of contention is they have you all aboard at 5:00 to 5:30. Why? So they can sail at nine knots and save on fuel costs? I've never been on a ship that had you on board consistently at that time. Anyway, we talked to a lot of people that are looking to move away from Cunard since they got bought by Carnival. And bottom line, our $6,500 cruise ended up costing us an extra $3,500. Sail at your wallet's own risk. We're going back to Oceana and/or we've heard great things about Crystal and Viking's new, ocean going cruises. Read Less

Having cruised many times with Princess Cruises, we decided to try Cunard's Queen Victoria because the itinerary included Dubrovnik, Montenegro and overnight in Venice. The ship had just undergone a £34 million refit in May and looked splendid, especially the Queens Room, Garden Room and theatre. That said, the new Grand suites and the additions like the Britannia Club restaurant are of no benefit to the majority of passengers. The ship was filled to capacity (around 2,000 passengers) with 1,300 Brits and several hundred Australians but, surprisingly, it seldom felt crowded. PROS • Good itinerary and we had sufficient time to explore independently at each port. • Efficient embarkation, disembarkation and port tenders. • Splendid decor with elegant Queen's Room, Garden Room and good theatre. • Excellent afternoon tea in Queen's Room and good pub lunch in the Golden Lion. • We enjoyed Jenny Bond's lectures, talks on forensics and the piano and guitar recitals. • Cunard is not constantly trying to sell passengers photos, art works, spa treatments etc. CONS • Food in the Britannia restaurant was a major disappointment. • Service was generally mediocre, especially in the Lido but our cabin steward was good. • Drinks were very over priced. • Ship can be unpleasantly cold, especially in the Queen's Room and Britannia restaurant. • Too restrained - nothing resembled "fun" and no sail away gatherings on deck. • Port lectures were poor and simply promoted the trips instead of giving useful information. • Shuttle bus charges were applied to selected passengers who had booked Early Saver fares. FOOD AND DINING There is no anytime dining in the Britannia restaurant, so we chose to eat at 8.30 pm. The service was variable and our table of 6 could finish eating at any time between 9.30 and 10.30 pm. We also went there for breakfast at 8 am and the service then was quite efficient. Food in the Britannia restaurant was a major disappointment with dull menus, no seasoning and very little flavour. We normally prefer the fish dishes but found them to be poorly cooked and flabby with not even a slice of lemon. Carrots and pak choi were served most days as was rice and mashed potatoes. Half of the menu seemed to be vegetarian options and the gluten free soufflés were mainly egg white. We explained this to the restaurant manageress but nothing improved. Even regular Cunard passengers commented that the food standards had deteriorated significantly - but few people thought to complain and just said "it's fine" when asked. We were served a mushroom tart with pastry like concrete, a crab starter that was a spoonful of nothing much in a bun and several deserts that were swimming in ultra sweet golden syrup. The menu on the four formal nights contained nothing special and lobster was only available once during our two weeks on board. Being presented with a set of menus on the last night only served as a grim reminder. The lunch time menu was also very dull, so we often went to the Lido restaurant where we could be more selective. Service in the Lido restaurant was poor, with nobody offering to fetch drinks and disinterested waiters. The Golden Lion pub served fish and chips, chicken curry, pies etc each day and we found this to be a really good alternative. The daily highlight was afternoon tea, served each day in the elegant Queen's Room with a string quartet or harpist to create the right atmosphere. There was a nice choice of crustless sandwiches, followed by cakes and then scones with jam and cream. All were served nicely at a leisurely pace and with a choice of teas. DRINKS Cunard charged around 50 USD for a bottle of very ordinary wine, which is extortionate. We took a couple of bottles on board and, even with the excessive 20 USD corkage charge, it was OK. It was, however, noticeable that little wine was being consumed because it was over priced. A half bottle of chilled bubbly awaited us on arrival which was a nice touch. One glass of wine and no canapés were served at the Commodores reception in the Queen's Room, which was a poor affair compared to the Princess's Captain's Circle. It reminded us of the P & O champagne waterfall, where they charged for every drink! ENTERTAINMENT The TV was small and there is no "on demand" capability, even after the recent refit. The theatre is very comfortable and we enjoyed trying the boxes at the sides. Drinks are not served in the theatre and there are no tables in the arm rests, which are useful for taking notes during lectures. Theatre entertainment ranged from excellent to poor but was perhaps a bit above average. We enjoyed Jenny Bond's lectures and talks about forensics. We enjoyed hearing a group called The Rewind Project presenting the music of The Moody Blues, The Hollies, 10cc and Cliff Richard. Another group (called the Overtures ?) also put on a good show of 60s and 70s music. A comedian named Jon Courtney entertained us with some good jokes and piano playing. David Howes, a multi-instrumentalist played the piano and trumpet and put on quite a show. Ilia and Plexus provided an interesting gymnastic show but trying to fill an hour with such performances is difficult. There was also a grim comedian / ventriloquist one evening. The resident singers and dancers, who put on four shows, were OK but the singers were not very good. CONCLUSIONS The Queen Victoria is a lovely ship but we were very disappointed with Cunard, who failed to come up to their quality image. Breakfast and afternoon tea were good, but, for most meals, menus were dull, food was poorly cooked and lacked flavour. Service was mediocre and the crew simply did their job. Drinks were over priced and the ship was unpleasantly cold in some main areas. No cruise line is perfect but, in our view, Princess provides a much better experience and we have no desire to cruise with Cunard (or P & O) again. Read Less

We went to try Cunard again after a cruise 8 years ago . This time we chose the much vaunted Queens grill penthouse suite . The Flight out was ok with BA though putting people who have paid top whack in the tail of the aircraft by the toilets was a bit of a surprise. When we arrived in Athens it was all very efficient and with a very quick transfer we were in our room in no time ,our bags arrived 10 mins later brought by our really hardworking and lovely Butler Elvie. Elvie was our room steward on our first cruise and not only did she remember us, she made sure that everything that was needed in our room or by us was catered for seamlessly. She is a real credit to Cunard. The Room itself was a nice space with everything that you could want well kept with plenty of storage. There was a crooked picture above the bed though which as it is fixed in place could not be moved ,drove me mad !! The Queens Grill had really great waiting staff Aurica our waitress was again a credit to Cunard and made our dining a nice experience, However the food in the restaurant varied sometimes great ,sometimes average many times lukewarm. I think Oceania offer better Menus with much less pre preperation than Queens Grill and this should be looked at by Cunard. Cunard can not choose its passengers and some of them in the Queens Grill were really nice but you also get those difficult elderly snobs who seemed to enjoy making the waiting staffs, life impossible remember the people that serve you are human too guys. Our deck area was clean well arranged and had nice touches with tea and snacks provided it lacked a whirlpool though. overall Queen Vic is a lovely ship with very little movement even in bad weather. Disembarkation was well organized again for me, However the big letdown for me, is that on a B A flight charted by Cunard we got split up and we and many other Queens Grill passengers got shoved in the back of the aircraft provision of catering would also have been a nice touch. We chose this cruise because of itinerary,the ship was visiting some places we had not been to before. Cunard is our chosen favourite line for elegance,excellent food and service.Passengers are mainly Brits of a certain age so only a few children,there were however 42 different nationalities on board so it was interesting to meet and speak to people of other countries. My only adverse comments would be that the prices charged for wine and excursions are excessive. The evening entertainment is varied and the resident Cunard singers and dancers put on some good shows. Lectures during the day are interesting ,Jennie Bond the former Royal correspondent was well worth listening to and my husband found the art talks very good. We were lucky with some wonderful weather and the ship coped well with a force 8 gale,this might be of interest to those who are not good sailors. If you haven't cruised before try it ,you will get hooked! Read Less

This was our first time on Cunard. We had been wanting to try them for a while and the dates, itinerary and cost for a balcony cabin seemed just right. We were a little apprehensive about it, given some recent negative reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Visually, the main public areas look elegant and stylish and we rather enjoyed the formality. We were in a balcony cabin on deck 5. The lifeboats are situated on the deck below and so, when seated on the balcony, we could see the roof of the lifeboat below. On other lines, this cabin would have been described as partially obstructed, but that was not the case with Cunard. That said, it didn't really bother us but I do think that Cunard should more accurately describe the cabin. In addition, the cabin seemed smaller than ones we've experienced on other cruise ships and the bathroom was especially tight. Wardrobe space was plentiful though, with much more hanging space than we've been used to. Food, on the whole, was good although lunch options in the buffet were disappointingly limited. Nonetheless, there was always something to eat and it's impossible to go hungry. Afternoon tea was especially impressive and beautifully served. On the whole, the main shows were on par with other cruise lines but the range of other entertainment around the ship felt very limited. We were concerned that on embarkation day, we had a Cunard arranged flight which didn't land at Athens until, around 7pm. This meant we didn't get on the ship until about 9pm. On other cruises, we had been used to boarding by early afternoon and so it felt as though we had lost a significant part of our first day. However, on disembarkation day we had an 8pm flight home and were able to remain on the ship until 4pm which compensated for the late arrival. It would have been helpful if Cunard had informed us of this arrangement in advance as we were concerned at the start of the cruise that we would be transferred to the airport in the morning or that we would have to do a tour with an airport drop off. Despite a few gripes, outlined above, the overall experience was a good one and the ports met our expectations. We would cruise on Cunard again if dates, itinerary and price are right. Read Less
