The above is what I was told by the Deputy Captain when I finally managed to corner a member of the deck department to ask why some new lashings hadn't had a whipping or a back-splice put onto the cut ends.

The whole cruise was great, although weather not perfect but that is no ones fault, our only complaints were the cost of the alcohol on board, wine is extortionate so hardly anyone on our table of 8 purchased wine at dinner, in 22 nights we bought 3 bottles of wine,

About 2 years back I developed a desire to sail on the QM2. 50% of my friends who had been on the QM2 loved it and 50% hated it. We did enjoy the ship,how ever thought it lacked the wow factor. We enjoyed the QE last year much more.
The ship seemed a bit higgle de piglle with stairs all over the place.
Service was ok , but only ok over all. We have had better on other ships and on ships with less star ratings.
Ships Captain and Officers might have been on another planet,for what we saw / heard of them.
