Great value I had a great time and would definitely do it again. The ports were well chosen, just the time at the ports could be longer. It was sometimes a little bit rushy. The food onboard is great, a final cake walk would be great, and thr prizes at the specialty restaurants are too high.the food there is great though. Overall, there is a good chance beeing again onboard NCL The staff is friendly, the entertainment was great and the bar tenders new their job well. However adding 20%on every single onboard service is unreasonable. Also the prices for excursions are far too high, you can make some excursions in half prize, if you do them by yourself. Both are things not related with the cruise, more likely with the policy of NCL. Freestylecruising is a good invention and makes the cruise enjoyable for everybody. Overall, well done and save sailings Read Less

Let me start by saying that the actual ship is very nice and we had a nice trip. PROS: The cruise directors, Andrew & Andy, were really fun. The entertainment was very good. We enjoyed the various trivia games, there was a great magician, awesome juggler, and very interesting high-tech lights\video\music act. The food was great in both formal dining room and buffet. They have great video screen at the pool that plays recent movies (that you can also view later in your cabin). There are fun "touch screens" on every floor where you can locate the people you are travelling with, see deck plans, the entertainment schedule, AND there is fun "explorer puzzle game" for the kids to play. There are 3 regular sized pools (one is private one for adults only near the spa), and one very small "kid's area pool", so there are different options. I think they make good use of the space and boat doesn't feel too large (or too small). Also, very "non pressure" from the staff. I've been on some cruises where they are always trying to sell you things, but this ship wasn't like that. Stops on our cruise were awesome. In particular I loved Quebec City, & Prince Edward Island. Halifax is nice, but a bit more of a bustling city. Sidney Nova Scotia is cute town but a "young port" so tour options (e.g. if want to go to the Alexander Graham Bell museum) are limited if you don't book ahead. You can't even really even find a taxi. - - - CONS: There are limited shore excursions and most of the good ones they sold out months before the cruise. (Not sure why they can't see the high demand and arrange for additional tours). It ended working out OK for us though because we found that for most ports you can find alternative tours outside of the port for cheaper than Princess charges. The EXCEPTION though is the port of Sydney, Nova Scotia. If you don't book something ahead won't be able to find trips on short. The "app" (where you can order drinks and see entertainment schedule seems to be a bit of a work in progress (didn't work very well for me). I could see upcoming events schedule but never could do anything else with it. There was mystery "high seas heist" ongoing game that we participated in, which was semi-fun but sloppily run and slightly confusing. There is "kids club" for area but for some reason it is closed from Noon-to-2PM so it didn't work out well for my wife and I when we wanted to do some of the things like the art auction on the boat, or trivia. Also, the staff in the area are not that friendly, and per my kids (so take with grain of salt) they had strictly regimented task for them to follow. (e.g. they couldn't just draw, read, play video games or Foosball when there was an activity like "t-shirt painting" going on. You have to do what group is doing while in kids club, at least if you are in the 7-to-11 year old section). Perhaps not the cruise line's fault but found the "exit port" in Brooklyn NY to be run horribly. A lot of confusion, and they routed people into different lines... allowed people to cut in the lines... and ultimately you could just walk out of the port if you wanted to (there was no security check or anything) so all the confusion wasn't really necessary if they were better organized. Lastly, bad ratings to our cabin (E514), mostly because it is located directly above the lounge where loud music is played most nights. Read Less

This ship is medium size which we like. Our mini suite was great.Having a larger bathroom & balcony was very nice. Our room steward kept it neat & clean. Food on the ship, some good & some bad. Specialty dining in Cagney's, Moderno, Teppanyaki, & LaCucina were all very good. The main dining was average at best and the buffet which we only ate breakfast had a good variety but wasn't hot. Bars and entertainment were good. We went to all shows in the main showroom Stardust. Comedian Harry O'Donoghue was great. Their show Elements which included magic and music and dance was also very good. We also.enjoyed the Bliss Lounge for dancing. Quebec Tour to Montmorency Falls was good. Bar Harbor Acadia National park & lobster bake was great. We have been on five other cruises but this was first on Norwegian and we would cruise with them again. Read Less

This is not the first time we are doing this cruise, but we are really satisfied with it. Leaving from Quebec city is wonderful! The ship is a good size, it was easy to find our way on the ship, specially with fishes on the carpet, facing forward. The dining experience was also excellent. We had great food, and a variety of choices in the buffet. We really like the fact that it is a freestyle, not as some other cruise lines that proclaimed they have anytime dining, and it is not the case. On Norwegian, we have no reservation for dinner, at any time. It is also easy to have a table for 2. We almost never share tables, because my husband doesn't speak english, and at any time, we felt like asking for a favor, to have a table for 2. This is a cruise I would recommand for sure! Read Less

We had never been to Canada. We live in Florida so this longer cruise was perfect, we only had to fly one way. We love to travel on Holland America Lines, so the fact that Zuiderdam was due for an interior face lift did not bother us. We know and love their standards, so could put up with a few chips and rips. The Crew was wonderful, always helpful & Roxan in the Ocean Bar is the Best Waiter on board. the Food was a little odd by the second week. (an awful lot of fish, for someone who does not eat fin fish.) The food we ordered was good & we could order a baked potato if the sides did not appeal. I must say that the entertainment on board was a little disappointing, where did all the small bands and other singers & guitar players, that used to be in the small bars, Crows Nest, Atrium & Dining Room go? We miss being able to order afternoon drinks & listen to a Duo or single musician entertain us. The music seems to be at night & if that band is needed for the main show, nothing!!! Read Less

This was our first experience with Norwegian. We thought the ship was beautiful. It had recently been refurbished (although we never saw it before the changes). Really liked the Irish Pub that took over entire Atrium area. Also enjoyed the Mondavi Wine Bar. Port cities were all great, except for maybe Sydney. Food was fine. However, there are more pay restaurants than regular restaurants. Part of cruising is supposed to be food included. I notice no longer can we get lobster or high end steaks with regular cruise fair. Biggest gripe is no laundry facility for us to use ourselves. We tend to add a cruise on in the middle of a longer vacation. Count on doing our laundry at the end of the cruise so that we have all clean clothes again for the rest of our vacation. That way only need to pack half as much. We were offered a special laundry deal where Norwegian did our laundry, however it was offered 3rd day in. Still had 5 nights to go of using clothes that we could not wash. This ship also seemed to have an older crowd that the Princess cruises we had taken in the past. We always cruise spring or fall when school is in, however this crowd still older (we are 57 and 65 - almost youngest on the ship). However, ship and crew were great. Read Less

The embarkation was long and drawn out in Quebec City. Could have been arranged much better. But, once we were on the ship things went much better. We felt the problem was people on board wanting to disembark were hindering the embarkation process. it was not well organized at all. Dinner upgrades to French bistro , Cagneys steakhouse, Teppanyaki , and la cucina all added to our experience with the great promotions we were offered. Truly enjoyable. O'sheehans bar and grill was a highlight for all other meals whether it was breakfast or a snack in between meals. we really enjoy the exercise walking area to get our steps in daily after meals. We were fortunate our room and balcony were located very well on the ninth floor not too far from the atrium and central area for entertainment. During the day we could play cards in the lounge area close by. At night we had our great dining, then off to casino for a bit. We always had fab evening entertainment close at hand just down from our room on 9th floor yet the sound was not a problem. Read Less
