First room smelled like sewage so we did not even unpack. Was moved to room the air didn’t work. Then they moved us to the Covid-19’s and isolation section. Did not say a word about being isolated section we just kept seeing more and more doors blocked red stickers on doors. Why would you place at risk seniors in the middle of an isolation section. Is this not elder abuse. I ask if the CDC ...

This was our first experience with HAL. We selected it because of the good itinerary and competitive cost. PROS: this is a big, safe and high tech ship. Nice atmosphere at the Casino. There was always good and consistent temperature in all public areas and cabins...very compfortable. Good support from the Front Desk staff. CONS: Cheap shows, cheap muscicians, cheap artists and poor ...

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

We’ve sailed on Holland America numbers of times over the last several years and expected the newest ship of the fleet in service for three years to be an improvement in design, services and accommodations. We chose this “low impact” itinerary to enjoy the vessel and not require early departing excursions and for the most part the itinerary met this goal. However, the new ship missed the mark in a ...

St Lawrence River, Canadian Maritime Provinces and East Coast Transit to Florida

We picked this cruise to catch the Fall colors along the St. Lawrence and for first time visits to Canadian maritime provinces. Embarkation was fairly smooth as folks seemed to come to the terminal at their appointed times. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing lovely Quebec and the other Canadian ports of call. The ship's crew was outstanding, very hard-working and they aimed to please. The meals in the ...

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

I am not a fan of online reviews. I don't like Yelp or Trip Advisor for this reason I hate the idea of hurting people's jobs. In this case I have to let everyone know how unhappy and awful Norwegian was to us. My wife and I took our mothers on a cruise because we thought it would be easy and a special way to be with the both of them. My mother in law is in early stages of dementia and ...

We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit places where the leaves were changing, and for the most part, we were able to see the beautiful colors (several of the Canadian stops had been hit hard by a hurricane 2 weeks prior). We chose Norwegian because we had a previous wonderful cruise on the Breakaway. We were very disappointed by the Pearl. Frankly, our group of six found the ship ...

Cruising has changed

This cruise has long been delayed and postponed due to COVID. Began in Quebec where embarkation was very impressive. Very smart to have check in times. Cabins have much less storage space. The safety video is smart but very annoying to get MULTIPLE emails indicating the need to watch it. Someone should fix this. The 24 hour Sheehans is nice to have as a backup for meals. The restaurant ...

Not up to expectations

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Silver Whisper

We just finished 22 Days on Silver Whisper doing a B2B Fall Foliage/Canada cruise. There were some very good things, but there were instances that didn’t reflect well on Silversea. Unfortunately, the expression "You Get What You Pay For" did not apply here. As background, we’ve cruised dozens of times, mainly on Crystal, as well as Regent, Oceania, Celebrity, HAL, Lindblad, and most ...

Writing this now because I can not believe that SilverSea has been named best luxury cruise line. As far as we are concerned never again. To start with the positives- our butler and steward were both absolutely fantastic. So were the staff in the medical centre which I visited each day to have a dressing changed . However the praise stops there. Food, decor and entertainment all very ...
