Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Quantum of the Seas

In May 15 I took the Quantum of the Seas 16 Night Suez Canal - Barcelona to Dubai. These are my comments from that cruise. I stayed one night prior to the cruise at the RCCL booked hotel, Hotel Regina. This was a pleasant experience and good location. Due to a last minute change in my room assignment by RCCL on the morning of my departure from the US, the luggage tag was posted to my ...

i-pad check-in? Waited 2 hours at the terminal in Barcelona. Water offered may be nice! More broadband than all cruise ship added together? Internet barely works. Satellite TV? Can't get any basic news for 5 out of 16 days. Staff- They are all very good. Tries hard and sincere. That includes all dining rooms, pool bars, activities etc... Guest service area- VERY POOR. Minimal line ...

As loyal regular celebrity cruisers and after a fabulous transatlantic with them on Silhouette in November, we were persuaded by friends to join them on the Quantum -Barcelona -Singapore cruise to celebrate my 50th birthday. The ship looked great in the advertising, and the ports appealed.. However as we found out. Marketing was not reality.. While the first leg Barcelona to Dubai had ...

This was our first taste of Royal Caribbean having cruised on Cunard and Celebrity. The booking was many months in the planning and was looked forward with much excitement. Thinking that this brand new ship with the “WOW” would be something not to be missed with long sea days and interesting ports (apart from the risk of going along the Arabian Sea.) I travel often with my son and we pay ...

This trip was our 40th cruise and we have up until now kept away from the Mega ships but Quantem has totally changed our minds. From the moment you step aboard the ship has an amazing wow factor but also has some quiet corners to relax in. The only problems we encountered were with fellow passengers, jumping lines etc not adhering to dress codes. People who were not used to the western ...

Most fears unfounded

We boarded in Barcelona, the "tablet" check-in was not in use and the usual Barcelona chaos with desks was in operation. We had originally planned to check in as early as possible and then to spend the day in town but having learnt that RCI would not allow guests to leave the ship we altered our timings and arrived mid afternoon. Barcelona port terminal has a duty free shop after their security ...

We spent 29 nights in Quantum, sailing from New York to Dubai on the first two legs of her repositioning from the US to China. I’ve waited a month to write this review, in order to try and give as balanced a view as possible. Embarkation: Embarkation in New York was particularly well handled. Queues were short, and the staff handling the throng were helpful and friendly. Cabin: Our balcony ...

My terribly romantic images of cruising vs. the cruise business

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Quantum of the Seas

This is a brand new, very sophisticated ship. Some things work really well and some don't. Unsurprisingly the most impressive bright spots I recall involve crew members doing a particularly good job. The technology never really shined and it never felt like it was making my life better (I am a tech guy from Silicon Valley, btw) but was acutely tuned to making more money for RC. Bright spots: ...

We went on transatlantic cruise from NJ to Barcelona and it was perfect. It was my 31st cruise, 9th on RCl. Don’t believe bad reviews, it is amazing ship. If you are looking for traditional dining, you will be disappointed, but you are adventurous and willing to try different restaurants, you will love it. The variety of choices for dinner is excellent. In 11 days we did not have a bad meal, no ...

This ship was exciting and had so many activities that we could not do them all. The service was excellent in all areas and the dining options were enjoyable . We never felt overwhelmed by too many people , including the embarkation, which went smoothly and quickly. The shows wee great and the lounge acts were varied and entertaining, particularly Joe Hollywood in the Schooner Bar. From ...
