Frustrating

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Quantum of the Seas

I had booked this trip in Feb 2014 for 6 of us in two cabins. We were beyond excited to sail on this brand new smart ship! About a week before we sailed I had read the reviews and that's where our concerns set in. However, we hoped for a better outcome. We drove from Connecticut to Bayonne and trying to drop off luggage and park was difficult. There was no organization and many drivers appeared ...

Disappointed

The Quantum has been over-hyped. Big ideas, little follow through. In building the ship that "changes everything," RCI changed what makes cruising so pleasurable: personal service. All of the new technology has come at a high price. I have never felt so unwelcome and unnoticed as a guest on a cruise ship. The boat is beautiful, more elegant and soothing than flashy, but there is very little ...

Big on glitz, small on content

Quantum of the Seas promises to wow it's passengers with the future of cruising. In reality they have reduced cabin sizes to accomodate more passengers and added "Dynamic Dining" to increase their bottom line. I felt like we had to WORK for this vacation between making reservations for restaurants, shows, entertainment, activities and standing in long lines at Customer Service to correct ...

Overhyped ship but still fun New Year's cruise

Background: experienced cruises with 40+ total mostly on Royal and Celebrity, but also on Holland, Carnival, Princess and NCL. Arrival: arrived for our 10:45 window. iPad check in quick. We got hung up in security since had a bottle opener in my backpack that had a small knife that I had forgotten about. Thought my little scissors would have been more dangerous but whatever. Basically walked ...

We were on one of the early Quantum cruises. We left Cape Liberty. Nice big terminal. First go through the "TSA" scanning equipment -- several stations. We were suite guests, but there were no special lines for such people. But no matter. There wasn't that much of a line. Looked for the so-glad-you're-cruising-with-us smiles, etc. Don't remember any. I will say the senior citizen helpers wearing ...

Curmudgeon

I must be a curmudgeon because I didn't take the ship the way that the cruise critic review did. In fact, pun intended, I took the ship to ferry me to Martinique and back. I've been to most Caribbean ports far too many times to care about, but I was to Martinique only once before and that was twenty five years ago. So it was Martinique that made me make the final decision to make the final payment ...

We sailed on the Quantum of the seas from Cape Liberty on the 12/01/2014 on her first Caribbean cruise and I can say without Hesitation This will be our last cruise on her or any of her 2 sister ships we did not like Dynamic Dining and missed the MDR trying to book dinner and organize shows was just too hard and often overlapped so you were rushing to eat your food and then make your shows (if ...

Beautiful Ship, But Not a Fan

I've sailed on Hal, carnival, celebrity and royal in the past. I had high expectations for the quantum, due to the hype that was put out there. Some things were great: 270, wifi, ifly, skating rink, virtual interior rooms. But as for the dining: dynamic dining is definitely not for those that like the same waiters each night that get to know their personal likes/dislikes... , constantly making ...

Bigger Isn't Always Better

My wife and I have been cruising since 1976. Our Christmas cruise aboard Royal Caribbean's (RC) new Quantum of the Seas marked our 15th one - many of them on RC ships. Last year we cruised on RC's Oasis. It was such a memorable experience we assumed cruising aboard this new larger Quantum would be even better. My wife and I along with my daughter, my son-in-law and our two granddaughters booked ...
