VERY OLD SHIP

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Star

We chose this cruise to the New England Islands because my wife has never been to New England. The pictures and description on ACL website were misleading. This was nowhere near a luxury cruise. The best place to begin is the Rennaissance Hotel the day before the cruise. Room was nice but not worth $500.00. Embarkation was easy and without incident. However, the cruise line changed the port ...

July 2022 - My wife and I have been on numerous cruises (26+) throughout the world on various cruise lines over the years. This was our third cruise on American Cruise Lines (ACL). Our New England Islands cruise started on July 16 in Providence, Rhode Island. Our flight from Florida arrived a day early, July 15, so we could enjoy the Providence area. We stayed at the Renaissance Providence ...

Old boat that needs to be retired

Though I listed Boston as the embarkation point, it was actually supposed to be Providence, a location not listed on this survey. This was the advertised as a New England trip from Providence to Providence, but the point of embarkation and disembarkation was actually Fall River—a forty minute bus ride from the Providence meeting spot, which caused a lot of inconvenience for some travelers, who were ...

Great crew, worst ship ever

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Star

The New England cruise on the American Star was an example of blatant false advertising. The website shows a new, modern ship with plenty of light and large staterooms and balconies. The American Star is a cross between a coastguard cutter and summer camp, outdated and broken down. Rust, dirt, broken chairs, outdated decor, stains on carpet - it is an embarrassment to the cruise line. Our door to ...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR VACATION

I chose this cruise line because they had the itinerary we were interested in. The seaside towns and islands visited were quaint and picturesque. Everything we were hoping for. The ship, however, was horrible. I found the crew to be uncaring and lazy. I brought our issues to the attention of the hotel manager early in our cruise, and while she was friendly, and said she would correct our issues, ...

Not the Best American Cruise Lines Itinerary

This was our fifth cruise with this company. We did the cruise called, "New England Islands". As usual the food was memorable. And as usual service at meals goes at a slow pace. For the first time on a cruise I had servers dump food on me - twice! They also had a specific problem at breakfast. I believe most people are eager for the first cup of coffee in the morning. That was very very ...

Would not recommend to others. Food and service only fair. Overall rating on scale of 1-10 would be seven (7).Cruise director attractive and friendly but inefficient. Made a number of mistakes for our group on excursion scheduling. Hotel director inexperienced as was the entire crew. Cabin service was ok but not great. On two occasions room was not made up until the afternoon and then only ...

Training cruise and worst ship

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Star

We chose this cruise having experienced the lower Mississippi, which was wonderful. We enjoyed the Providence city excursion prior to the cruise. The driver was very knowledge and took us to many places of interest. However, this cruise was disorganized, seemed to be their training cruise and their oldest ship. Crew members were changed throughout the cruise. For example, the first ...
