1-9 of 9 Princess Sapphire Princess Cruise Reviews for Singles to Antarctica
Buenos Aries. Embarkation was a nightmare. The cruise terminal was destroyed by a storm 4 weeks ago. Princess has not adequately responded. If you have a Princess transfer you will be taken care of. Everyone Else waited in long line in the sun. I was in a wheelchair and line took 3 hours and 20 minutes. No English speaking Princess employees to even explain what was happening. No signs to ...
I can't say enough words about how great our 30-day B2B cruise to South America was, which included 4 days cruising around the Antarctica Peninsula as well as visiting the huge Iceberg A23a and Elephant Island. We were fortunate enough to have booked an aft-facing Vista Suite with the weather fully cooperating, where we didn't miss one port due to rough seas or high winds. We of course dined ...
I chose this cruise to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was myself and my parents. We ended up in a Family Suite ( see below) and we got to enjoy all of the perks of the suite benefits.
Embarkation/Disembarkation: Embarkation to Valparaiso was a breeze. Princess was very helpful at the Santiago airport and we had no trouble at the terminal. We did have to be shuttled from terminal to cruise ship ...
The Sapphire Princess is in very good shape for an “older” ship. Sure, there were some stains on carpets and chips on tile, but on a whole I was very impressed. We enjoyed the fact that this Princess ship still maintains a full wide wrap-around Promenade deck (with only the need to go up and down a flight at the bow.)
Embarkation: the worst ever. Princess was not prepared for this, although ...
We joined friends and my daughter for this "once in a lifetime" Antarctic cruise. The big takeaway was the outstanding customer service throughout the ship in every venue: room steward, dining room hosts and stewards, Guest Services, photo shop, and internet booth. Across the board the staff at each of these went above and beyond to ensure a smooth and delightful cruise!
The Captain did a ...
We are Platinum level Princess cruisers. We chose this cruise primarily for the itinerary which included a Land Tour to Machu Picchu followed by a cruise around Cape Horn and Antarctica. Unfortunately, that itinerary was in flux and cut back before and during the trip. We've written a long, detailed letter to Princess' Executive team. An abbreviated version follows, which I've called "The ...
We wanted to visit Antarctica but was dreading the Drake's passage as one of us is prone to seasickness. So we decided to go with a suite on bigger ship instead of a cabin on one of smaller expedition class ship, giving up the opportunity to land in Antarctica. We had some of the best experiences on this cruise and some of the worst.
The best experiences:
(1) We had close encounters with ...
We chose this cruise for a relaxing time as I had recently had surgery.
Fewer excursion days and more cruising was a priority.
Bucket list as well!
A very memorable experience was when we were crossing the Drake Passage. The seas were 26' and the winds were 115MPH! It was like being in a Catogory 3 hurricane!
The Sapphire princess is one of the older ships in the fleet. We found it ...
Sailed on Sapphire to Antarctica in December 2022. Overall, a good cruise despite cancellations due to poor weather. We missed Punta Arenas, Port Stanley, and Cape Horn. However, we were lucky to see wonderful land- and seascapes in Antarctica, going further south than is usually possible. At the time, the captain said we’d made the record for southernmost pizza delivery, as the ship was able to ...
