Much needed improvements

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Sapphire Princess

Travelled with Princess in earlier times and had not a good experience overall. The Hawaii destination did inspire us to use the company again and taste their latest trading style. Although we found lots of improvements on board, we still find the basic missing with much frustration in this matter. Having worked all my life in the catering industry in London's 4 & 5 star Hotels, found the service, ...

Mixed Feelings about this one

Princess did a great job with staffing. I made memories for a lifetime with various crewmembers stellar service. The shows were okay. Yes, quite dated in some cases. Ashley Rose Smith is a treasure with her singing and ability to keep a somewhat sedate crowd interested especially in her ABBA show. Sudarmo in International Cafe-amazing!! Rhoneil, our waiter. Well we never do set dining but when we ...

not as good as used to be

Too few waiters, too much cost cutting, penny pinching everywhere, but staff great and ship in good condition. Food nowhere need as good as it used to be and repeated items on each evenings menus. Some of the things that used to be included, such as lobster, now are charged extra, although we did get a small portion as part of the main meal on one evening.Limited options in Horizon dining room. ...

First the pros of this cruise and the Sapphire Princess ship, and there were several areas that were excellent: 1. Medallion service/functionality is great. Making it very easy to order food and drinks pretty much anywhere on the ship. Embarkation was simple/easy. The medallion appears to be the only new thing that Princess has done since we sailed last with them in 2016. 2. The ...

Worst Maintained Ship Ever

Review for a South America Cruise on Sapphire Princess

Beginning on Day 1, we saw signs in the bathrooms on decks 5, 6, and 7 that said, "We're On it." It got worse with each of the 33 days on the ship -- to the point where you could NOT find an operational bathroom (both men's and women's). The food in the buffet worst we have ever had on any ship. Much of it was not even edible. Even Carnival had better food! The food in the Dining rooms was just ...

Lots of changes with Princess, and mostly not good

Check in. I saw 2 lines, an elite line and a “Green line”. Green line is for those of us who have completed the medallion app documents, which I did. They put me in the elite line anyway since I’m elite, and both lines moved almost exactly the same. It took 42 minutes from the time we got in line to get on our way to the ship. I think in the past, prior to COVID, I never waited more than 10 ...

I was on a 33-day cruise from Los Angeles to Buenos Aires, Argentina starting Dec. 2, 2022. We sailed along the Pacific Coast with stops in Cabo San Lucas; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Lima, Peru for 2 days; skipped Pisco, Peru due to the coup in Lima; stopped in Coquimbo and Santiago, Chile; skipped Punta Arenas, Chile due to high seas and win and, sailed alternatively through the Strait of Magellan ...

First of all. let me say I had some trepidation after booking this cruise. We were originally booked on the Diamond Princess out of San Diego in October. We were anxious to have a Princess ship ported out of our hometown and yes it was "that" Diamond Princess of Covid fame. But unfortunately, Princess cancelled the cruise along with about seven or eight other San Diego departures due to a lack of ...

Relaxation Hawaiian Style

My husband had never been to Hawaii so we chose this cruise. His biggest complaint on this ship is that the casino had not poker table. It mostly met our expectations. The food was good, but not outstanding. The service in our dining room was excellent. It was sometimes slow at breakfast. The size of the buffet was small so therefore there was very little variety. The crowd was mostly older. ...

Smooth sailing to Hawaii

Embarkation with Medallion was a breeze. Checked large luggage with porter at curbside. Direct to check in counter. Through security screening and onto the ship. Time was about 1 PM. Wanted to give staff time to complete changed over of staterooms. Went direct to the stateroom and it was ready, with our Elite mini bar set up. Shortly after walking into the room, our Stewart Miguel arrived ...
