We just returned from the 10-day Mexican Riviera cruise out of San Francisco. I should preface this review that this was my very first cruise. I am 62 and retired. Middle class.
Embarkation was a breeze. Quick and easy, with polite, friendly, helpful shore-side staff.
I had read a lot of reviews about the Grand Princess being a little run down. This being my first cruise I had ...
We chose this cruise because our friends asked us to join them to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We have cruised from California to Hawaii twice before. So, we expected the cold weather for the crossings but we had never experienced such rough seas both going and coming back. We are seasoned cruisers and have never been seasick. However, my husband was sea sick twice. The ship is in ...
We had heard great things about Princess and liked the dates and itinerary for this trip. It exceeded our expectations by far. Crew, staff, entertainment, food, etc were all excellent. If asked one thing to improve the experience, I have nothing to offer. Highly recommend Princess cruises. Every event we did was fun or relaxing. The spa is great. The shows are great. They even swapped out ...
We wanted to cruise out of a different port, so we chose San Francisco. We enjoyed the entire cruise, including multiple sea days in a row (very restful), shore excursions with a lot of adventure, and a debarkation tour of San Francisco that allowed us to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.
We took shore excursions in all 4 ports in Hawaii. The zip lines in Kauai were fun and on the snorkel ...
Sailed out of San Francisco with a couple of rough days at sea (thank you cruisecritic reviewers for the fair warning) during the first couple of days. Weather changed from chilly to nice and warm when the seas calmed. The four sea days going over seemed long, but then a different port each day seemed pretty hectic.
Thanks to Princess' miscommunications about their excursions not being ...
Embarkation and disembarking were the best I've experienced! The cruise was the absolute worst! The crew for the most part were very rude. Our cabin steward would not fill up our ice and did a horrible job at cleaning the cabin. The casino was always packed and impossible to find a machine to play. The grand princess is very dated. We noticed numerous water leake, they put buckets in the halls. ...
This was our first time on Princess, as we had typically sailed on Carnival in years past. I will say that Carnival cruises can be a lot of fun, but we were going for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation, ideally free from kids and rowdy groups. Princess delivered.
The Ship
The Grand Princess is an older ship, but she wears it well. The interiors have been updated probably several times since ...
Princess has it right on Embarkation and Disembarkation. Smooth process proved to be one of the best. The ship is older and void of all the exciting pastimes of newer ships but full of traditional pastimes for older passengers. Cabin service was so exceptional that any flaws in furnishings was not noticed. Wow service for sure there! Food was exceptional in all aspects..better than any other ...
I would never suggest this cruise. The sea days sucked. 1 or 2 sea days aren't bad but 4 or 5 at a stretch is too much. If your under 70 you will feel like a teenager. I have never seen more elderly people in one place at a time. 1 lounge area was nicknamed "Gods waiting room" The ship was very outdated and had very few activities like newer ships have. The service and food were great! ...
The staff of the Grand Princess went beyond my expectations to provide me with a wonderful and relaxing vacation. Our purpose on this cruise was to relax and unwind. I loved the itinerary with the days at sea before and after arriving at the ports of call. I only wished we had more time at Cabo San Lucas, it was my favorite stop. The staff in the dining room made our experience quite enjoyable ...
