Saw some nice things, BUT!

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Ruby Princess

My first experience with Princess and I have to say on this size ship it will probably be my last. The ship itself was fine, although the elevators were always crammed with people and mobility scooters etc. which made getting from the lower decks to the Horizon buffet on level 15 tedious and frustrating. The cabin was well fitted out and comfortable. The beds were probably the highlight, so ...

Our 7th princess cruise and we felt the food quality is in a downward spiral in terms of flavor, quality and choice. We love Princess but might have to try some different lines and are open to recommendations? Coffee on board was terrible and we resolved to start bringing our own with a small filter and drip solution. Entertainment on this cruise was great on the positive side. Disembarkation ...

Great itinerary but not great pre cruise drink packages no bottled water packages so brought a case on ourselves . Ship was rusty on our mini suite deck and other spare as. Staff were mostly friendly but some could use nicer hellos. Shop had almost nothing with lord of the rings items which was disappointing and quality was limited. Disappointed captain didn’t do the champagne waterfall like other ...

3 Day Cruise to nowhere

First short cruise we’ve undertaken. Family and friends get together. Embarkation and disembarkation very smooth as took advantage of our platinum Captain’s Circle benefits. All our group had sailed before and only 6 out of 20 hadn’t sailed with Princess. Ship very nice and clean, cabin lovely. We chose first seating dining. Would have been happier with a bit later start than ...

We selected this cruise because it was to and from Australia and would include Milford Sound which we did not see on our last cruise there when we entered the sound at 5am and departed at 6am (all in the dark). We were also looking forward to seeing Christchurch and the progress there since the earthquake. Unfortunately, due to bad weather in both places we spent 2 extra days at sea and did not ...

Disappointed

We chose this cruise mainly for the South Island and the fjords. We had great weather up to Dunedin where it down poured all day. We woke up early to see the amazing sail in to Akaroa which is a tender port. Definitely get up early. It was spectacular with the sunrise. This is supposed to be the most beautiful of all the ports. It was a picture perfect day with very little wind. We were enjoying ...

We were super excited for this cruise and left feeling disappointed as it definitely did not live up to expectations. Yes we missed 2 ports of call due to bad weather but that is nothing Princess can be held responsible for. What they can be held responsible for is how they choose to amend guest entertainment so we actually had something to do during the extra at sea days (7 out of 14). Highlights ...

We book based upon itinerary, but have taken four long cruises on Princess. For this cruise we had Club Class D503. Platinum Membership. Pros: a. Crew members were very friendly and helpful. They brought a lot of enjoyment to our cruise. b. The Club Class dinning is very good to excellent, well worth it. c. Many of the excursions we took were well done: bike & wine tour, bike & ...

Australia/NZ have been on our bucket list forever. After much discussion, we decided that a cruise would be the least stressful way to go, if indeed we were going to do it. We have been on several Princess cruises in the past and the idea of unpacking once and being able to sleep in the same bed for two weeks appealed to us. Our past cruises with Princess have been mostly positive and we signed ...

Aukland to Sydney outrunning a storm

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Ruby Princess

The itinerary was exactly what we wanted. Both islands for New Zealand and Hobart Tasmania (our favorite), Melbourne and Sydney for Australia. Unfortunately, a storm and heavy seas caused us to miss Akaora and Fiordlands and gave us a number of days of rough seas and cold days. Not the fault of Princess and the decision of the captain was understandable and appreciated . Safety first. The crew ...
