The GRAND...not so GRAND, anymore!

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Grand Princess

We were excited to do our first "Transatlantic" cruise. We booked the GRAND PRINCESS because the rates were excellent, and we wanted to go to multiple continents. We visited, Rome, Cannes, Barcelona, Gibraltar, Morocco, Canary Islands, Brazil(biggest disaster at any port EVER!), Barbados, Dominica and then finally Florida. The trip was long, but enough fun that we have already booked another ...

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Grand Princess

Our arrival into Rome was flawless and our B&B had arranged transportation from the airport. As we exited the baggage area the driver was there waiting and our trip was uneventful except for the Rome traffic. The B&B we chose was located close to the Vatican and our hostess met us at the door and helped us get settled. Our accommodations were excellent but small. Breakfast was served daily in ...

This was our 8th cruise and our fourth with Princess Cruises and we feel that it did not live up to expectations. The menus in the restaurants were abstract and ambiguous. What you ordered from the description on the menu was not what was served up to you, i.e. a ribeye steak turned out to be a sirloin, a fillet steak turned up as medallions and also what was described as ribbons of beef turned up ...

Having very much enjoyed our first Princess cruise last summer to the western Med on Sea Princess, my wife and I responded to a bargain offer from Princess to go to the Aegean this summer on its newest ship, Ruby Princess. The itinerary was a history teacher's (that's me) dream, calling at Naples, Santorini, Ephesus, Athens, and Venice, all of which have some connection to the curriculum I teach. ...

Just a Scratch of Europe's Surface . . .

Our Mediterranean cruise was chosen primarily for its itinerary, and taken by mom & dad (late 40's) and daughter (15) along with another family of similar configuration from the Puget Sound area in Washington, USA; for most all of our extended group, this was our first trip to Europe and was our first cruise with Princess Cruises and our 7th cruise overall.  The cruise was booked through a local ...

First of all, let me preface this review by stating I am not a cruise fan. After much input from my wife, I reluctantly agreed to a 12 day 11 port Mediterranean cruise with Princess. We boarded the Crown Princess in Civitavecchia Italy after spending two days in Rome. Check in was very smooth and organized as we arrived to our stateroom on board the Crown Princess. Our balcony stateroom was larger ...

Grand Princess Eastern Med Oct 17th-Oct 28h First a couple notes. I will try not to repeat what has been said before in prior reviews and concentrate on only those things that have not been mentioned or are new. My wife and I are reasonably seasoned travellers and don't tend to take many excursions, preferring to do many ports on our own. For this reason, most of the notes on ports of call ...

Background Information: end of peak season cruise French rivera, Italian coast, 5 Greece stops, western Turkey. Ship Info: 3500 passengers, 19 decks, 5 swimming pools - huge. Something wrong with this ship - very loud mechanical noises (Emerald/8 deck near the bow, and Aloha/12 deck midships) Activities: great teen activity, good for older at heart, challenging for 22-54/younger at heart Service: ...

Mediterranean Vacation July 2006 We spent 17 days on a pre-cruise 3 night visit to Rome, 12 night Mediterranean cruise on the Grand Princess, and a post-cruise 2 night visit to Venice. Thanks to a lot of input from the CC Boards we had an awesome experience for this first time visit to the Mediterranean. We were 3 families consisting of 6 adults plus 5 children (ages 9 through 15). The focus ...

The Grand Princess doesn't quite live up to its "Grand" name. The atrium is only three decks high, and the so called "Panoramic Lifts" are only glass at the atrium (decks 5, 6, 7) and deck 14 (overlooking the pool). Elevators took a while to catch and the stair cases were terrible to use. Beyond deck 7 there is no midship stair case, the aft set of stairs only starts at 5, cuts off at 6, and the ...
