Booked one week before cruise for a good value. Used Princess EZ Air for flights Vancouver to Fort Lauderdale (big mistake). We each were assigned middle seats on opposite sides of the aisle for the longest flight legs each way (on line check in 21 and 24 hours before departure). Flight to cruise got us into Fort Lauderdale at 5:30 AM. To retrieve our baggage we had to exit secure area. Starbucks and a merchandise store were the only services. No restaurants. No luggage check. No pay phones or cell phone merchandiser. Prepaid transfer was after 11AM. Broward Sheriff vehicles and officers were constant. I was rushed by an unrestrained security dog upon exiting the washroom (scared much?) Seat assignment is not the fault of Princess (blamed the airline). I did receive a verbal "sincerest apology" to email complaint. Whooppee! One tour participant quit our group without telling anyone. We had to wait while tour leader tried to find the quitter. Excursion desk wouldn't acknowledge the glitch and we had to wait til the cruise was over (or waste valuable onboard internet minutes) to complain. Again "sincerest apologies". Disembarkation was a GONG show. We were late into port due to a medical emergency the night before. This caused a crossover of us leaving and new cruisers arriving. No signs or separation stands with ribbons. Buses showed no sign of their destination. There was a total lack of central communications or control. Princess people shouting conflicting orders. One woman stationed at the exit door of the building just kept calling "keep moving" even though we were jammed up against other exiting passengers. Not exactly helpful. If there is a next time, I resolve to actively dawdle if I have a later disembarkation. We had a memorable anniversary cruise for all the wrong reasons. Thank you for nothing Princess. Read Less

Hubs and I haven't done a Princess cruise for a few years and this one fit the dates we were available. We looked forward to a nice break. We had a Club Class Mini-suite, cabin A427 (one of the peek-a-boo cabins!) and so we looked forward to a bit more pampering. I must say, we really didn't notice much of a difference. We always have a nice time when we cruise, and we aren't 'complainers', but I did find that service was slower and from what I could see it was because the staff is over worked. I wonder if they have cut back? It was SO busy in the Club Class area of the diningroom by the 3rd night they put us in THE REGULAR SECTION of the Concerto diningroom and promised that we would still have excellent service. As it turned out, our waiter in the regular seating area was BETTER than the over-worked fellow who was serving us in the club class area. I noticed the bathrooms outside the theater were messy most of the time. Garbage on the floor, toilets in need of cleaning. Our cabin was lovely and roomy. We were worried that people on the seawalk would be able to see in, but the best they could do is see my toenails if I was stretched out on the lounge chair with my feet up. I wouldn't hesitate to book it again. Bad "toilet" smell in the hallway to our cabin, fortunately did not enter our cabin. All the meals were delicious. Internet was so-so. Never had a problem getting a lounge up top. Same with our last Princess cruise, the night life is pretty quiet. Early-to-bed folks on Princess. We certainly had a nice time, but this cruise did confirm to us that Celebrity remains our favorite cruise line. Read Less

We loved the itinerary and the tours were wonderful (except Malaysia but that was because the ship had a mechanical problem so we didn't get to Malaysia in time for any good tours). My cabin steward was excellent - the best ever - Robert on the 10th deck. Embarkation and disembarkation so very smooth. That was the pro's. Now for the con's - the ship is in dire need of restoration - our air conditioning didn't work well at all - we had it at the very coolest level and we still were too warm. The dining room staff in the Pacific Moon were for the most part not very good. It seemed that they were not happy with their jobs and it showed in their service. No one ever came and asked how we were doing during the meals like they used to. On this ship they acted like it didn't matter how they treated us because they were going to get the tips anyway. No real incentive to serve. The most disappointing thing was that only once did they have good dance music where there was a dance floor. There was a wonderful piano player and singer who played near the piazza most nights and we would have loved to dance to his music (the last night there was a group of us that did end up dancing in the aisle and really enjoyed it). He also did play one night at the Wheelhouse (where he should have been most of the time as for the one and only time the dance floor was filled with dancers). Also the other piano player played one night at the Wheelhouse and my husband and I were the only ones dancing because people had given up on finding a good dance place. On our other cruises the Wheelhouse was always the place to go for good dance music and it was always filled with people. That was my biggest disappointment as that is one of the things I always look forward to. Also disappointed that there were no Enrichment Lectures like they usually have. (Do not like all the shopping lectures). Also the accounting for our bills were terrible (I had gift vouchers and yet I was always charged for the item and then had to spend so much time in long lines to get it right - the long lines were because it was happening to everyone. Also when I got home I have a charge on my card for $600 more than what my bill was and now I have to call and try to get that straightened out. On the Pro side - the CS people were very sweet and understanding. The food was not as good as previous cruises. I heard that the ship has been chartered out to a Chinese company and if that is true then that would explain why it didn't measure up to all of our other Princess Cruises. In closing - even though there were many cons - the itinerary made it one of our most favorite cruises. We had never been to Asia and we loved it so we did come home delighted with our vacation. I had a great cruise on the Regal princess in April 2017. Since then, Princess raised my cost for a bottle of Korbel Champagne with tip from $23 to $39.10. That is a 70% cost increase! They raised wine prices greatly and did away with their wine card program which allowed you to pre-purchase a number of bottles of wine at a discounted price. I really think they blew it as the reasonable wine prices of the past were a very positive point of distinction. i talked with a Canadian couple that was devastated by the loss of the wine card program. They noted that their Canadian dollar didn't go far and that the wine card program had allowed them to enjoy a bottle of wine nearly every night on past cruises. They said they could no longer afford wine with the new extremely high prices and would have to look at other vacation options. In the Elite lounge, the drink of the day price was increased 30% from $5 to $6.50. It is cheaper to drink at happy hour (whose prices are about twice what you would pay on land at happy hour). Throughout the ship service was great. Food quality was good though some favorites (parm bowls and medallions of beef (on the everyday menu) are gone. Hamburgers replaced the medallions of beef in the formal dining rooms. Escargot was offered once on the 17 day leg of the trip but not on the following 14 day segment. Read Less

Great ship. Clean and room as huge suite. The service and nickel and dining every time we turned around was ridiculous. $10 extra on top of $29 special dining for surf and turf. Shows boring and spa services ok. Medilain wasn’t ready but looked stupid and the WiFi was $10day bur sucked slow and didn’t load most time. The clients are mostly older so the shows are suppose to be for their age but boring. The casino has smoking in it and travels up to shops and walkway for those of us don’t want to smell it. With enclose them in and let the smell each other’s smoke or don’t allow. Nasty. Pools are small and shallow. Our conserige was great. Nothing special about the enclave somsave $140/week we paid and go once. The club class isn’t any different from regular dining just napkins with CC on them otherwise nothing different. No special table side cooking just same food as other dining rooms. Don’t waste the money for that...Won’t be back to princess. Read Less

My husband had been unwell during the summer, he has always wanted to be in the Caribbean over Christmas, (we usually go Jan/Feb) so I booked it as a surprise for him. This was our 14th Princess cruise, so expectations were high. The ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas, we were greeted by carol singers in the atrium at embarkation, which was speedy and efficient. Nice balcony cabin, if a little small, and still the ubiquitous shower curtain (Celebrity shower much better with glass screen) in the bathroom. No welcome back drink or other recognition of loyalty. Luggage arrived promptly, but there were many empty cabins on board. Went downhill at dinner first night, we were on late sitting, a table for 6, but bench seats! Seriously? OK in a café environment, but when dressed in smart or formal attire, not acceptable to have to shuffle along a bench. We asked to speak to the M'aitre D, our waitress informed us he 'would not come to talk to us'. We assured her that he would, or she would need to deal with 6 angry people, did he think he was something special? He suddenly appeared and assured us we would have a table with chairs for the rest of the cruise. On to the food, it was okay, but only 2 offerings of steak out of the whole 11 night cruise, usually available every night. Cut backs were very apparent, sadly. The waiting staff were very good, around the whole ship every member of staff greeted us with 'Happy holidays!' which was lovely. Drinks in the bars were reasonably priced, lots of choice re: cocktails and margaritas, but a serious lack of joviality , due we think to the boat being so short of passengers! Great weather, great ports of call, we did our own thing as the excursions are so overpriced, eg, trip to a beach $39.99 per person, we paid $24 total for a return taxi trip to the same beach. Princess used to be our first choice, sadly Celebrity are now much better, although their drinks are exorbitant in comparison. Read Less

We choose this cruise because we had not been to some of the ports offered on this cruise before, and because we wanted something different to do during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Because we love the Caribbean, this was our 3rd Caribbean cruise. The cruise as a whole was awesome, the weather was good, the food was good and the company was good. I have to say, this is the first time we have had such a delightful cabin stewart. She was so happy and friendly all the time. And she keep our cabin immaculate and well stocked for our needs. You will be lucky if you get her on your cruise. Her name is Hedy. Sweet girl. Entertainment on the Caribbean Princess was great. The dancers and singers of the Princess theater was very professional. We enjoyed all their performances. I have to say that not all the staff on this cruise were as friendly as we have encountered on other cruises. Maybe they were just having a bad day. Also, we felt the food at the buffet was not as good as we have had on other ships. One more thing. The balloon drop for New Year’s Eve celebration was advertised in the Patter as to start at 10:45p.m. (Which we thought was odd, but then assumed that they decided to have it early to accommodate the young children and seniors) So everyone was gathered in the Piazza anxiously waiting for the drop, when it was finally announced that the balloon drop would be at midnight. Everybody moaned and and then started to leave the Piazza and head back to their cabins. Very bad mistake by someone. Poor planning. I hate to complain, but these are things we noticed compared to our other cruises. Read Less

We did a Christmas cruise on the Princess Crown 4 years ago and had a wonderful time. We followed that up with an Alaskan Cruise on the Pacific. This was our third princess cruise and overall we thought the standards for service declined. The staff in the horizon cafe, bars and deck areas consistently just did not care about the customer and were generally unfriendly compared to past Princess experiences. Within 30 minutes of boarding we went to one of the poolside bars to celebrate with a cocktail. I asked the waiter for the St. Thomas frozen drink. His response was (not joking) you can't expect us to know all drinks. When I explained to him what it was he said he could make it but would need to charge me for three drinks. No friendliness, conversation or suggestions for something else. We never went back to the bars. In the horizon cafe (buffet area) there are servers that provide silverware and drinks. In busy times, they would completely ignore us. We rarely got drinks provided within 15 minutes of sitting down. When we asked for drinks, the server kept cleaning her station and ignored us. We paid for the Lotus spa enclave. The attitude was very similiar. They had citrus infused water jugs and water pitchers in the steam room. They were empty every time we went. When we brought it to the attention of the spa manager he said it wasn't his job but the food staff. We bought the service from the spa, not the food staff. Poor customer service and not worth the $400 you pay for two people. What was great was the food and services in the traditional dining area and the cruise director staff. We really enjoyed the game shows and trivia. However, given the amount we paid for the cruise, we expected better service overall. Read Less

We chose this cruise to get a taste of New Zealand & because we had been advised the Sea Princess was a beautiful ship. After sailing with P&O & MSC prior to this cruise however, we were a little disappointed with our experience on the Sea Princess. Aside from the outbreak of the norovirus, which we fortunately didn't catch, the restaurant menu was very disappointing. It hardly seemed to change whereas other cruises we've been on had theme nights of food on the menu. The food was quite plain & inedible at times. We decided to eat in the buffet mostly, but even though there was lots to choose from, it was always the same. Our outside cabin was quite small. Here again on P&O and MSC we always had a couch in our cabin, but only one tub chair on the Sea Princess (for 2 people) and just as well we're not large people because there wasn't any room to spare either side of the bed. A point of caution, be careful to choose a cabin of 55 sq ft, not a 47 sq ft cabin. Our steward did a great job of getting around our bed to make it each morning. Still don't know how he did it. The ship also lacked shops so not much to browse. The staff on the ship were very good so no complaints there. The entertainment in the theatre was excellent. There was no one monitoring the library, so considering the outbreak of the norovirus, it was concerning to see the turnover of books without any cleansing the book covers. Also one of the cabin boys advised us they're not allowed to wear gloves when cleaning the cabins because passengers would question why they need to wear gloves. My query is, why are they NOT wearing gloves when there's an outbreak of the norovirus. Also, why were they not wearing protective clothing when entering each cabin, for their own protection, as well as the passengers. I wear gloves when cleaning my house. The cruise line needs to review their health & hygiene policies. This cruise has definitely ended our cruising days. Read Less

We had always wanted to do Mexico and it was the second cruise of our trip making the first was Cuba The bar staff (making the drinks) were very good but the waitress service to the tables and around the pool areas was very bad. We were in a night club area 1 night waiting for the band to come and play, there were about 4 groups of people there. There were 2 waitresses standing in a corner talking. Each group had to go to the bar themselves while the waitresses stood around talking Occasionally they walked around the area picking up glasses and not offering to get drinks On 1 occasion we noticed then attempt to take a glass where the lady had not finished her drink We are planning our next cruise and Princess lines would not be our first choice Also there were too many people for the open spaces. We choose it because of the different ports like suva , savusavu ect.But I found it a little disappointing there was no (24/7 international cafe), the buffet restaurant closes at (11pm) the mini golf advertised was hard to find at first and when you finally found it there was only putters hanging around and not a( ball ) insight. So I suggest you bring your own if you want to have a game.Tours over priced and very different to the adverting on voucher for example ( Deep Sea Fishing big scam) don't waste your money you would be lucky to catch a fish at all and is you catch one it would be no bigger than your hand. it is just bottom sea fishing. However Fiji Islands are very beautiful for swimming, snorkeling or shopping very good value for money. The cabin staff and dinning staff really make you feel good about the cruise. Read Less

My wife got sick the first day on Monday. She decided to not go to the island and stay in the room. (The right thing to do) I called the excursion desk to cancel the two excursions that we booked and I was told the only way to get our money back was to see the ships doctor which would of cost more than the two excursions. I have seen the ships doctor before on another cruise and I had trip insurance. I spent 6 months of doing paper work and never did get the $156.00 dollars back. The ship was old school decor and I loved it. Was had cabin R324 and it was the largest we had ever had. Plenty of space to keep our stuff. Our room stuart was Jojo and he was one of the best we have ever had! The dinning was great. The food was excellent and our server Natallia took care of us like we were her own kids. When we got on the ship we noticed we had anytime dinning. We have found out after many cruises that we prefer to have the same water every night. We get much better service this way. So when we got on the ship we saw the maitre d' and asked to have the same time and table every night. He gave us table 303 and 7:30 which was perfect. The shows were good including Doug Funk the comic. If you go to the cigar bar after his show you might get to see him. Warning he is trying to get a date with Hillary :). St. Thomas is in great condition because of the US government, they will tell you. Can't say the same for St. Maarten but it was still fun. The overall cruise was great. I missed not having a comedy club but the shows were better than most of the other cruises we have been on. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I had never been to the Panama canal and thought it would be good to see. It was disappointing at best. I have cruised about 9 times with many different ships and by far this was the best embark and debark one I had every been on. We choose to take a ksa tours bus $10 each from the ship to the airport. It was easy. Next time I would just take a taxi for $14. The cabin was big compared to other ships. I cannot say enough about the new mattresses, we did not want to get out of bed due to the comfort of it. We choose to do buffet every meal and we were not disappointed. We ate when, what and how much we wanted. Next time I would choose an early anytime dining. The comedians/magician were good the production shows were awful except Bravo. The service was good everywhere. The problems for me on this cruise were: the average age was 75 and up, not enough activities (except trivia 3x a day) for me to completely engage, many people travelled in groups of up to 10 and would take all the extra chairs, block walkways etc., a little bit of Zumba and diy pickleball, the gym was good but could not get on the treadmills until 8 am. We travelled with no children and there were a total of 7 on board so that was nice for a change. They had the biggest freshwater pools I have every seen with lots of room. Excursions: Hop on Hop off bus Cartenga but there was no hop, we were stuck on the bus for the whole hour to the old walled city. We had a walking tour which was good but the VENDORS were horrible! oh my word they were like fleas on a dog's back you would think you had gotten rid of 4 of them and then walk 15 to 20 feet or turn a corner and boom you would walk into a wall of them selling the same wares as the previous ones. If the bus stopped they would ring a bell to make you look down and start the spiel. I understand proverty but annoying was the word of the day for me. At one point I raised my voice to fend off yet another vendor wanting to put a hat on my head or offer me a necklace etc. Vergura Rainforest: Not worth the money to go. Two hour drive. It was mid afternoon by the time we got onto the tram and we all know what animals do in the warmth. Sleep! But no mosquitos or flies at this time of year. apparently there were propulsion issues with the ship not sure if that was true or not. Read Less

For the most part just what you would expect of a cruise. The things that most disappointed us were... 1. Conflicting information. From reading in the information book in the cabin that we could go to any MDR at any time for "Anytime Dining" then being told we could only go to Micheal Angelo. To being told so many different stories about the tendering procedures that we ended up canceling our shore excursion our of sheer frustration of not knowing what to believe. 2. Not having our pre-purchased wine in our cabin and literally waiting hours on hold to get through to Room Service to get them delivered. 3. Food in Horizon Court was usually closer to room temperature than hot soup or cold deserts one would expect. Snapper Ceviche in MDR was also room temperature and not chilled as it should be. One "so good it was bad" note is that the comedian, AJ Jamal was so popular his 3 extra shows were overflowing from the Explorers Club and should have been relocated to a larger venue. On the positive side, the coffee was smooth and excellent. Salty Dog's is definitely worth the up-charge. ( and a special shout out to Meena ) Movies Under the Stars, with pillows, blankets and popcorn, was a treat. The transfers to and from LAX were smoother than I expected Other than these things, I would say the good and bad were the usual for what you would experience on a cruise. Read Less

Just returned from a week on the Regal Princess. I will break this down in PROS and CONS: PROS: Great embarkation and debarkation processes; little to no wait time (we are platinum members so that helped ) Beautiful ship, clean and well maintained. Loved spending time in the Piazza. We loved Bellini's and Vines for wine and champagne. Wheelhouse bar for great cocktails and music. Entertainment venues were all great. We attended all the shows and enjoyed them all. Great cabin ( and steward). No complaints about roominess or storage. Employees at front desk were outstanding. We have been to the Caribbean many times, so for us, it was all about the ship and our time onboard. Alfredo's still has some of the best pizza at sea! CONS: Enjoyed pool area, but still don't understand the "fountain". Waste of space, only 5 minute water show at 9:00 p.m. and only a few times as wind cancels show. Liked the Retreat pool, but prefer ships with covered pool. Worst hamburger/hot dog at sea at pool. Don't understand how HAL ( another Carnival Corp. cruise line ) can have such a low quality product served. BUFFET food continues to go downhill. I'm not sure the accountants can cut anything else off this buffet. Breakfast always the same and all foods lukewarm to cold ( i even stir every pan and get the food from the bottom ) Lunch and dinner basically the same. No blue cheese dressing anymore on the salad bar. Had to ask fo bananas as they are never on the buffet ( except last day ) Almost no fresh vegetables and the protein items are extremely overcooked. No rare or medium rare meats whatsoever.Desserts almost tasteless ( only last day of cruise do they have nice desserts). Dining Room service continues to be hurried and most service levels not great. Servers are friendly and smile a lot, but with no captains or sommeliers anymore, the wait staff just has too much to do and not enough time or hands to do it. The DR menus continue to be cut every oyage we take. Almost a game now to see what has been removed from the menu. The only beef item now on the "Classic menu" is a HAMBURGER!! Yikes!! Too muh to say in this category, but I would just go on and on. SAD!! Would we cruise again with Princess? Probably not. We love the ships and the employees but the poor foodservice is a dealbreaker. Hopefully, Carnival will look to HAL and maybe their rivals, Celebrity, to upgrade or at least bring back a quality product to the line. Read Less

Getting on and off of the ship was easy with little delay or confusion. Itinerary was the prime motivator along with a relatively recent renovation. Renovation did not mean that the storage drawer tracks were in good working order however. The wear and tear was evident though overall service, Princess Entertainment, the International Cafe (food and service) and the dining room service were standouts. For our needs, more time at sea would have been appreciated. Two new ports this trip, Martinique and Trinidad. Each is really a city and not a vacation destination for cruises. Watch for your valuables as there are those who can pick a pocket with the best of them on the two new venues. (US$257) Three (or so) if the islands do not use US$ (Euros and Eastie's-Eastern Caribbean Currency) so if you need to buy anything on shore convert your money ahead of time. Watch for the washers and dryers ($3 per machine). On Baja they deposited grease and other undetermined substances on our clothes. Half the clothes were damaged and are now "yard wear." Others had better luck elsewhere. Read Less

We took this cruise several years before on another Princess ship and enjoyed it immensely. This time - not so much. First the downside. Originally the ship was built to hold 2800 passengers. Princess stuffed an additional 500+ passengers by making all the cabins, inside and outside smaller. For the first week the Princess theater could not accommodate all the additional passengers with only two evening performances per night. Passengers were upset so for the rest of the voyage, the ship relented and scheduled three performances a night. Various food lines were much longer this time but you soon learned to avoid the "rush hours." Because of extra passengers, access to enjoy popular entertainers at the piano bar and the ship's nightclubs was often difficult compared to the past cruises. Initially the dining room service was mediocre but improved a little as the voyage continued. One time we walked out after waiting a half hour without any dinner service. Another time I could have been arrested for assault. I grabbed the head honcho by the shoulder and wouldn't let him go until he called over one of the Filipino waiters to take care of our table. I feel that the larger number of passengers put much more pressure on the kitchen leading to delays and rushed meals. Chicken was always overcooked and dry - so we soon learned to avoid it. When steaks were offered, It was difficult to get it rare. The buffet often had better choices than the regular dining rooms. The good news is that the prime rib (when served) was very nice. The movies played "under the stars" and in the Princess Theater were entertaining. The "enrichment" lectures during the day were well done and interesting. Because of the additional passengers, the land tours were almost all sold out before you even boarded the ship. However we discovered that the private tours on shore were just as good and only half the price that Princess charged. As a long time stockholder, I appreciate the desire for Carnival to squeeze as much profit out of each ship as possible. If this was your first cruise, then I suppose you might have accepted all this as normal. But my advice for all the rest, is to avoid the "new" Emerald Princess - whether for Alaska or the Pacific runs. For future cruises make sure the other Princess ships like the Pacific or Coral Princess have not been remodeled to hold more than the original 2200 to 2800 passengers. You have been warned. This was my 1st Princess Cruise, NOT impressed! Ship was older but nice for the most part. Cabin was okay but they could have steam cleaned or replaced the very large stain in carpet. Wasn't prepared for the everyday long lines for food/dining. They ran out of food and alcohol, who does that? Once night in dining room, server was cutting my lobster out of shell and knocked it onto the table, all he did was picked it up and placed it on my plate. It took so long one night to receive our dinner our other 4 dining companions were almost finished with their meal. At the buffet, it took forever to get tables wiped down and to receive place settings/drinks. The Staff was not real friendly or apologetic, acted as though we were bothering them. Our cabin steward was the worst, had to ask several times for items we should have had in the first place, also not apologetic, I actually hated to see him coming. Ports were excellent except Ensenada, didn't feel safe there. I remember when passengers tipped for services rendered; stewards use to trip over themselves to help, now since the tip is taken off the top, they give less than a hoot because they know they're getting the STANDARD tip no matter what, such a ripoff! We really loved this cruise itinerary! The ports were amazing!! Couple tips were get out an hour early if you make port midday some people waited hours to get into Dublin day 1! Every other port was simple and well done with complementary shuttles in some ports too! Missed tender in guernsey so be prepared if it’s waves you are not leaving! Food at dining room was amazing bring a suit for formal night as menu was awesome lobster and other amazing mains!!! Skip the pricey tours all were easy enough to do yourself or getting a car online or train! Every City was so friendly especially Ireland and Scotland! Visit the willow in Invergordon by station for good local time and the ferry tap in south queens ferry for local fun too! Darkey Kelly was fun in Dublin too best! Shows were amazing!! We caught almost everyone there was always something to do and the sea days were a welcome relief of touring around. The really only stand out bad thing was the disembarkation! One hour late tensions were high there were some bad eggs in our time group and there was yelling and arguing it was crazy to watch and unfortunately our last memory of what was an amazing cruise. I don’t see why people couldn’t simply show staff their plane tickets and leave as priority if their flight was close! Tip do your own disembarkation with your own luggage at 6:15 there are elevators super easy. Read Less

We choose this cruise for a couple of reasons. First, it was going to Hawaii during our anniversary and second, we wanted a step up from Carnival. Step up it wasn't. Let me say that we will give Princess another try, just not on the Grand Princess. This ship needs to retire with all the issues it had with water leaks, toilet not flushing and not just your room toilets which was so un-sanitizing, staff ignoring us and the pricing was beyond what we thought it should be for photos and such, they weren't going to make deals with you, you pay or you don't get your photos.... We weren't impressed with this cruise and It did NOT meet our expectations, in fact it was the worst cruise we've been on. This cruise had many retired people with wheelchairs, walkers, scooters and such that it was hard getting around. There were lots of folks with health issues that I'm sure shouldn't have been on this ship and I was surprised were allowed on the ship. One man whom was in the ships hospital said the waiting room was so filled with sick people trying to get in that they sent him back to his cabin after a blood transfusion. This man hit his arm on something and couldn't stop the bleeding, lost half his blood and needed a transfusion, which I had heard the announcement for donors to help save his life at midnight just two days before. I was shocked that they wanted him out of there so fast, but as he said, there were a lot of sick folks waiting to get in. My husband became sick the day before we arrived back at port and I got sick couple of days after that. It's taken me a week to get over this illness and I'm still not %100. We are in our 60's and far from being young chicks, but we are very active people so this has been hard for us to say this least... The entertainment was very good but if you wanted a seat you had to get there one hour before the show, or 30 minute for an OK seat. I've never seen so many people arrive to the theater 1 hour before the show. We learned this quick so we also got a seat, we would talk and have a drink but it was a long night having to wait. Maybe it was because these were seniors, but they get there early, it could be that the theater was small too. Our personal waiter and steward were good, but some ship staff didn't want to make eye contact with people, maybe they are uncomfortable with the elderly, or maybe of their demands, which was way more then we had even seen before. The food was good, Not great just good, except when we did the Chief's Table, now that was great, we paid $95 per person for that, but it was great. Our cabin was just OK for the money, we've gotten a bigger cabin for the money on Carnival and Love it. One thing we did find on the door knobs was feces, which luckily for us I bring along disinfected wipes. I cleaned all door knobs, handles, the toilet and shower floor, which I was happy to do as I've found the stewards don't clean as well as you think they do, they didn't past my sneaky test. I put a couple of towels on the floor after marking them with a pin only to find them hanging back on the towel racks. Now you know that floor isn't clean, but those towels from the floor were back on the rack for us to use on our faces. If it weren't for the fact that my hubby and I Love to cruise, I wouldn't take another cruise knowing some of the stuff we saw and experience, but we do Love to cruise. So what to do, well take along your own cleaner, but aware of what your steward is cleaning or not cleaning in your cabin. I order bottled water for our cabin so I didn't have to drink the water on the ship and or from the cups provided. WIPE everything down. It's not just the seniors who get sick, so just keep it clean. Pull your sheets back and make sure it clean, if you have to make it over, so be it. Please, Don't lose your coffee card or give it to a waiter and forget to ask for it back. I gave my coffee card to a waiter and he didn't give it back, as I was getting ready to leave the restaurant I realized I didn't get my card back so I went back to the table and asked for it, they said they gave it to me, now I know they didn't because I kept that card in a pouch around my neck, had he handed to me, it would have been there. I was the one made to feel was at fault by the maître d', needles to say I wasn't very upset. It took some doing but they gave me another card after taking out the 7 punches for the coffee I had, rightly so, but they should have done that from the beginning instead of making feel it was my fault. I can't believe they put their coffee at a higher importance than their customers. The regular coffee was horrible on this ship so I was grateful to have my card to get specialty coffee's. For us, the stay at ports was just OK, the excursions were way to short and didn't give us the time we wanted and needed at places like Pearl Harbor, you need a whole day there. I think they could cut the Punchbowl and City Tour from the Pearl Harbor tour in order to see more of Pearl Harbor. We were sad that we didn't really get to see more than we did. Maui was great, we did enjoy the Maui Ocean Center, although we could have used another hour or two there. My favorite at the Ocean Center was the tunnel, Loved the sea life swimming right over your head, Amazing. My favorite of all excursions was, Wailua River Cruise, Luau & Romantic Ceremony in Kauai (Nawiliwili). The river cruise was beautiful, Mother Nature was at it's best. It was the most beautiful experience we had on this trip. Jim and I renewed our vows and had a nice lunch at the luau. The walk up into the Fern Grotto was just breath taking. The food was great as well as the people. In Hilo there is a free shuttle in to the city if you sign up fast enough, but that stops at noon in order do tours with his bus which means you have to find your way back or pay a driver that may or may not overcharge you. The taxi drivers at the port where we arrived tried to over charge by saying it was $20 a person even though Princess told us it was about $12 a cab and that if we shared a cab with someone, we could split it. These taxi drivers were trying to take advantage of everyone. Lots of people were upset and were trying to figure out how to get into the city, which by the way is closed on Sunday's which was the day we arrived there. Only a few people were open their shops, so they got all the business, but was very expensive. I can't believe that Princess would bring you into a city that is closed, so unless you signed up for an excursion, there wasn't much to see or do in Hilo on a Sunday. We had already spend a lot of money on 4 excursion so had we known that Hilo was closed up on Sunday's, we may have made different plans. Sure they was a very, and mean very, small farmers market that took all of 10 to 15 minutes to go through. We didn't really care for Ensenada, Mexico. We just walked around the port area, which wasn't much and returned to the ship. They need restaurants and more shops in the port area for those that don't want to go out into the city. This city could use some lessons from Cozumel, we really enjoy Cozumel's port. We didn't get in the pools or hot tubs on the ships because there were to many people with skin issues that shouldn't have been in the pools, so we opted not to get in which was disappointing. I think as much as the ships personal tries to keep things clean and when you walk in the any eating area they ask you to use the hand sanitizer, people still don't do it. I think that what my hubby and I got wasn't from not washing our hands, but from people that were sick not taking precautions. We had one man come to our table at breakfast coughing so bad that he finally left, now I'm no doctor but if your coughing like that maybe you should stay in your cabin. As I said, this was the worse cruise we ever had, but there were some awesome times. If your young and want to be around young people, The Grand Princess isn't for you. If I had to guess how many people were seniors on this ship, I would guess that at least 75 percent of the passengers were seniors and above 75 years old. While there were other little things here and there that were good and not so good, I think you get the idea. As I said, it wasn't so bad that my hubby and I wouldn't try another ship, but they only get one more try. I do hope that we find a ship with Princess that we can say we Love. We can't do our 20th over again, but we look forward to our next anniversary cruise. Embarkation was great, disembarkation was as well. Entertainment was very good. I could tell more but you get the picture. Be safe, be sanitary. Read Less

Enjoyed the Alaskan experience with Princess. Although I believe we were too early in the season to see the variety of wildlife we were hoping to see. We did see however a few eagles and whales. But, sadly no bears, or for that mater enough eagles and whales. Just much too early in the season. The scenery was beautiful and the locals were very friendly. The food on the cruise was just ok for this trip. We have sailed many times on Princess and both of us thought the food was not up to snuff. They changed the menu and removed such outstanding items such as the parmesan crust which was served with the fettuccini alfredo. They did not serve butter with the rolls, you received some kind of terrible tasting creamed butter. You had to ask for regular butter. Also they limited the rolls that you were initially given. You could ask for more which always took additional time to receive. The pizza was just not cooked enough and when questioned about it, the server made no effort to correct it. The best excursion was the one we did in Skagway. We did the best of Skagway which included a train ride, a bus tour, a tour of the Red Onion Saloon and trip to "LiarsVille" a spot right out of the movie "Deliverance". This tour overall was excellent. Best location for shopping was Ketchikan, Alaska, plenty of shops to see and review. Juneau was just ok, we went on an excursion which visited the glacier and did a tour of a boat to see whales, which as I mentioned was just a few. The entertainment was also not up to Princess standards. The dancers and singers were excellent, but the comedian just was not funny at all. Overall the crew was excellent (except for the Pizza Server) and provided good customer service. But, again, would rate this cruise just average as opposed to the man times of excellence we had in the past with Princess Cruises. Read Less

This was our second TA cruise. Our plane arrived 11 pm at Ft. Lauderdale the day before the cruise so we spent the night at the airport to save money. Embarking was smooth but the crush of people at the lunch buffet was overwhelming and the food was underwhelming. I was hoping the boring food was not a sign of things to come. Our cabin was a balcony with a love seat. The decor was old 80s style. We both thought it was shabby and dated. Cabin steward was friendly and came to our rescue when we had been drinking and lost our room key. Had one special dinner at the Crown Grill which was decent with good service. The food in the dining room was mediocre at best. The food was tired and dated. I have no idea where they found those spindly little lobsters on lobster night. Really pathetic. Why even bother. The wait staff attentive. The desserts were outstanding especially the chocolate ones. The buffet was hit and miss - I did love the sushi, shrimp and roast beef but everything else was just ok with exception of the desserts which were quite wonderful. The buffet waitstaff was good when they were not pushing some wine tasting event or the like. I felt embarrassed for them having to bother people with sales pitches. I hate getting hassled to buy things when I am trying enjoy my meal. It was almost impossible to get a seat by the window. Most of the entertainment was fine. Although the comedians told the same tired jokes that might have been funny in the 1950s but were just boring now days. The new Silk Road production was ok but I wondered why on earth they could not use original music instead of pop songs. In some cases the pop songs did not match the story line. This seemed lazy not to hire someone to write original music and it ruined the production for my husband and I. The only standout in terms of talet was Perry Grant. He is such an original and unique talent. We loved his shows but so did everyone else and we could never get a seat. He should be moved to a larger venue that can accommodate all his fans. The library was small and had a smallish selection of books. i did like that they had many travel books. The library table was monopolized by the puzzle people. They hogged all the chairs working on their puzzles at all hours. When I tried to move one of their finished puzzles to take some notes on a travel book I was reading several of the puzzle people turned on me like rabid dogs. It was scary. The puzzle people should be moved to a different room or better yet throw the puzzles overboard. Excursion desk was great. The lady that gave the port lectures was wonderful. Bermuda was pleasant but not a place I would return to. Azores was amazing and spectacular. Lisbon had a horrible hop on hop off bus that was late and waited until it was filled so we were stuck on the bus for an hour. My advice is to just take a taxi to the tourist area.. Booked a local tapas and wine walking tour. Le Havre was boring. Disembarking was easy. Read Less
