My wife & I have cruised 40+ times (mostly Disney, RCCL, NCL) and this was our 3rd time to Alaska and only 2nd time on a Princess cruise ship. Celebrated 39th wedding anniversary and the Emerald Princess was absolutely wonderful. From the overall daily itinerary to the Alaskan excursions at these ports (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, & Victoria) to the quality of food offerings to the cleanliness of our cabin & finally to the service from all Princess employees. My grade is an A overall!! Just returned today (July 8th) and this review needed to be sent asap for those families planning on taking this cruise before summer is over. Weather??? Perfect....sunny with temps as low as 55 degrees while viewing glaciers to a high of 82 degrees while in Juneau, AK. a) excursions-so many to choose from seeing whales, killer whales, bears, bald eagles, dog sledding, etc. With boats, charter buses, trains, and even bicycles taking you to your desired spots. b) cabins-we began with an inside stateroom & was upgraded for free to an outside stateroom. But just a week prior to our planned trip on July 1st, Princess called us & asked if we wanted to upgrade ($149/per) to a balcony. We said YES! So glad we did because we were given a large spacious room located forward on the Port side next to the stairwell & elevator. Perfect location to get to & from places on the ship. And not a sound was heard from people walking outside our room down the hall or the sound of the "elevator bell". 3) dining-we are not a big fan of buffets, so we ate at the dining room & took advantage of the specials provided at the specialty restaurants (Crown, Salty Dog, & Share restaurants). We ate at the late seating (7:45pm) which was perfect. Plus, all the offerings were simply delicious! In addition, Pizza, burgers, fries, tacos, etc were offered poolside if one wanted to eat between meals. Lots of healthy items were available too. 4) entertainment-excellent; musical show, comedian were top notch. Loved the "movies under the stars" poolside. 5) Embarkation & Disembarkation was "super easy & super fast"! We had to catch an early flight home so we walked off at 7:30am today. No problems whatsoever. 6) I read past reviews about the "rudeness" of the Princess staff....Sorry, but we had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with anyone on our ship. In fact, they were helpful, friendly, and even went out of their way to converse with us when time allowed them to do so. We ended getting hugs from several of the staff members on the Princess. That only happened to us on the Disney ships. 7) Cleanliness-cabin, restrooms, restaurants, pool area, fitness center, etc "SPOTLESS" Want me to criticize? Had to think about this for a bit. Hmmm a) seats in the Princess Theater were tight (but only If you weighed > 275 pounds) b) casino was closed on the last day of cruise since we stopped at Victoria, B.C. and there's a Canadian law that prohibits casinos to be open 6 hours prior to landing in port. That's all we found on the negative side. Sorry to disappoint you, Debbie Downers. Great value for our money. Again, we give an overall Grade of A Read Less

The service on the Emerald Princess was exceptional. Our cabin was clean and well kept. We enjoyed the food and entertainment throughout the entire week. There was plenty of variety of foods and venues of service. We choice anytime dining and made reservations to accommodate our schedule for the day. The quality and service of food was exceptional. The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner had plenty of variety of food. We had gone to comedy shows, theatre productions and karaoke in the bar during the evenings at sea. We were very satisfied with the entertainment venues. We were lucky to have great weather to enjoy all ports of call. Every port had something to offer. We toured the beautiful Ketchikan port. There was plenty of shopping and things to see. Skagway's train ride is not to be missed. There is a tram in Juneau in which you can hike in Mont Roberts for $30 usd. We enjoyed the sites of Seattle and Victoria. We took a tour of the city in Victoria to accommodate the short time in port. Read Less

I thought Japan would be exotic beauty with Japanese gardens manicured and admired by all. The itenerary is weak. Cities visited are basically uninteresting and there is no particular beauty in anything that we visited. We went to Sapporo and spent the day wandering around looking for something to do. May have been my fault, but it was pretty uninteresting overall. Russia is a horrible stop. The Diamond Princess is geared toward Japanese cruisers which is okay, but needs to be considered if you plan to take this cruise. The entertainment staff onboard was really good the production numbers were exceptional. Especially the Bravo show. Awesome performance. The other production numbers are really older Princess shows that have been replaced on most other cruises. The Piazza is small and there is no International Cafe. So, after eleven each night, there is nowhere to get anything to eat. Nowhere! Amazing...cruises are know for food normally...but I was told that Japanese people do not like to eat late at night. O well...better for my health, but not so much fun. Read Less

We did quite a bit of research in selecting our Baltic Sea cruise because we are not frequent big ship cruisers. We chose Princess over several other lines because it seemed to offer more of what appealed to us. We are a mature couple who enjoy a little special treatment, a variety of shows, and a quiet place to relax at times. We chose a Mini Suite that included Club Class dining privileges, which turned out to be a smart choice. The price was not much more than a balcony cabin and included more room and some nice upgrades. We had priority embarkation and disembarkation privileges and check in/out was smooth and fast. We particularly enjoyed the Club Class Dining available on some of Princess' ships. For breakfast and dinner, and an occasional lunch, we had a dedicated part of the dining room and dedicated waitstaff to serve us. There was no waiting in line, and by the second day, they were calling us by name. The menu choices normally included some specials not available to the rest of the dining room. The service was excellent, relaxed, and we looked forward to dining with staff who allowed their personalities to shine when you showed an interest in them. The entertainment presented was amazingly professional. We enjoyed all the shows, and that's saying something since it was so varied. A non professional parody of "Dancing With The Stars" (6 select crew and 6 passengers with some dance experience) that took place in the Piazza was very funny and quite entertaining. We chose the Baltic because it offered a chance to see 7 different countries. In all countries, we were able to dock and didn't need tenders. In some ports, we took the Princess tour; some we did by ourselves; and in St Petersburg, we booked a 2 day tour with a third party company (Alla Tours). The Princess tours were pretty good, but seemed overpriced, particularly in Russia. The Alla tour was excellent (only 16 passengers in a comfortable Mercedes minibus) and you did not have to get a Russian visa. The days by ourselves worked well because Princess docked near town in those cities and we could walk. Most every port had HopOn-HopOff double decker buses that did an established circuit with buses running every 20 minutes. If you know what you want to see, this is a good option. since they leave and return right to the dock (does not apply in St Petersburg). Princess exceeded our expectations except for a few things. The buffet food was average at best. They seemed to have trouble keeping the hot food hot. Desserts, fruit, juice, and coffee were good. Sometimes, the line at the Service desk meant a long wait; they could have used a few more staff. The best thing about the cruise was the Club Class dining. When we cruise again, we will first look at Princess Club Class. Read Less

This is a great trip! We were first time cruise takers and the Golden Princess cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver made an awesome first impression on us. The ship is clean, well run, and the staff is professional, courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. The sights of Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay are awesome!! The three ports of call (Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan) were fun and full of exciting and fun-filled shore excursions. We highly recommend this cruise!!! We also highly recommend that you stay in a room with a balcony. The first two days of the cruise are spent at sea viewing glaciers (Hubbard Glacier on day #1 and Glacier Bay on day #2). Being able to relax on your own deck and watch the glaciers is very enjoyable. Also, since the ship travels in an interior passage and not in the open waters, there is land on both sides of the cruise for you to scan with binoculars for the entire trip. The Alaskan cruise is very calm as there are no rough seas. Just do it and book an Alaksan cruise. You won't regret it! Read Less

This was our first cruise ever. Landed in Vancouver at approx. 9am, dropped off our bags at the cruise terminal, and spent a few hours visiting a delicious donut shop and biking around Stanley Park. Wanted to check out a brewery before hand, but didn’t know how early to be on the ship. Ended up going to customs around 2pm and found out there was expedited entry for Global entry holders! Wish we would have known so we could have more time in town since the ship departed around 4:30. We were on the ship within 15 mins or so and had lunch at the buffet, which was alright. We got an interior room although heard that balcony was the best way to go for this cruise. There were 2 reasons why the balcony would have been nice: 1) get away from the crowds to relax in peace and 2) get some natural light in the room and feel the breeze. We personally didn’t feel the upcharge in price was worth this, but if you get a deal or just have some extra cash - go for it! When we were in glacier bay and the college fjord, the people who were out there on the deck with us said they had balconies, but couldn’t see the full glory of it all without getting out on the deck anyway. The interior room pros are that you sleep in total darkness and that it’s economical. We didn’t spend too much time in the room unless it was for naps, changing clothes or sleeping at night, so it was fine for us. The bed was super comfy and was wonderful to come “home” to every day...I’m considering buying the bedding set to have at home. The service was wonderful all around. Everyone is really nice and attentive. The food was really good in the dining rooms for dinner. We had anytime dining and rarely had to wait longer than a few minutes, but we generally always shared a table with others which was nice for good conversations. Lunch was not as great as dinner...would have settled for the buffet most days. Breakfast was great in the buffet. Afternoon tea was awesome and delicious. The pizza and burger grill place were just ok...I think mostly there for the kids since it’s by the pool. We didn’t get the alcohol drink package. My boyfriend drinks several sodas a day, so he got the fountain package deal and that worked out. I drink a moderate amount, but didn’t feel I could fit in 6+ drinks a day which is what I roughly calculated out it would be to make it worth the cost. I also don’t drink sodas or other stuff. What I do recommend is pre-purchasing the bottled water package...that saved a ton since it only came out to about 50 cents a bottle. As far as what to do on the ship...we personally didn’t do a lot except eat and lounge around. They had plenty of shows, educational classes, music, etc to check out though. We loved getting off the ship to check out the towns. Also the scenic cruising in glacier bay and college fjord were highlights. In college fjord, the Harvard glacier was super impressive and actually massively calved a few times while we were parked there watching it. Super memorable and beautiful. The captain was awesome! Lots of personality and made sure we saw all the sights. Disembarkation was the easiest thing ever. We were off the ship in 3 minutes. Overall, we loved the cruise for what it is, but we’re not sure we will be back again for another one. Generally when we travel we really like to stay away from the tourist trap areas and don’t find much joy in tourist shopping, gambling, or lounging for long periods of time. We also like to plan in a lot of stuff to see and do during our travel days. We did get to do this to our best ability on the dock days, but otherwise we found this challenging when we were not scenic cruising. With all of that said, I would still recommend Princess if anyone wants to go to Alaska and wishes to do so in comfort and luxury. There are certain things I would have never seen without going on this cruise, and if I planned this trip a different way it would have cost me a lot more. The other passengers we talked to who cruise a lot said that Princess was very good compared to the others. You’re going to get a great bang for your buck! Enjoy! Read Less

The food was good quality and the drinks were tasty. Specifically the hotdogs and pizza were the best I have had on any cruise ship. There was plenty of seating on the decks, the rooms were clean, and the ship was kept clean and organized. The disembarking and embarking were the easiest and fastest that I have ever had on any cruise. The Crown Grill had one of the best steaks I have ever had. Planks BBQ was just average barbeque, but this is coming from a Kansas City person where barbeque is life. Now it is time for some downsides. Drinks were reasonably priced, but all drinks had a 15% gratuity added to them. I do not like to be forced to pay a gratuity because our servers didn't have to provide good service since they would be getting an automatic tip. Sometimes the dining staff was not pleasant and I could not hear them because they just seemed unhappy and uniterested in serving us. There was not a lot of entertainment choices and not a lot of activities like you see on other ships. If you want a ship that is layed back with few parties and little entertainment, then this cruise is for you. If you want a party cruise with excitement and plenty of activities, this is not a ship for you. This ship also has no special deals. Other cruises I have been on have buy one get one reduced price deals on restaurants, jewelry, cologne, or bottles of booze. There have also been reduced drink packages like on Royal Caribbean, but there were none on Princess. This ship also has a lot of "wasted" space. What I mean by this is that where there could have been another bar, a rock wall, a play area, a miniature putting course, a hot tub, etc., they simply put chairs, or just left the area free of anything. Another bad decision this cruise staff made was putting popular shows or entertainment activities in the smaller lounges or venues. The love and marriage game show which is always popular on a cruise ship was done in one of the smaller lounges instead of the theater. Read Less

The cruise ports are pretty much the same amongst all Alaska cruise options. They are over saturated with the same jewelers and shopping that are sponsored by the cruise industry. The senic crusing in the fjords and at the glaciers was great though. The shore excursions could be found for half the price on land and I highly recommend the Jeep Self-Guided Tour in Juneau. The food was average and only one or two items were memorable. What was memorable was the poor dining service. The pastries and desserts were very well made and were the memoranble food items. Do be prepared to be nickeled and dimed with Princess - everything is ala carte. Pay for a cup of coffee on Deck 5, but if you go to Deck 14 it is free? I mean come on Princess it is the same coffee. Group fitness classes are also extra dollars - every gym on the planet has free spin classes, but Princess charges $15 per class! The Enrichment Activities provided by the National Park Servive (who came onboard at Glacier Bay NP) and the guest native Alaskians was a highlight of the trip. They did add to the trip. The cabin service was above average and our cabin steward was very professional. Now, this is my second time on this ship. The first time I was on it was 15 years ago. According to Princess they “refurbished” the ship this year - some new flooring? To use an analogy from real estate - they did a quick flip of the ship by adding some new flooring, maybe a coat of paint, new hull logo, and added mattress toppers to the beds. The paneling and almost all items that are visible in the ship are original and are very much showing their age. Chairs in the dining room did not match each other, mirror mouldings were missing sides, cfl light bulbs flickered, carpets were stained, lounge chairs on deck had tears throughout, cabin furnishings were all worn, etc. Finally, I feel it necessary to comment on the production shows. Now, I live in Las Vegas and work around professional entertainment venues - I literally see some of the best entertainers in world monthly. With that said, the entertainment on the ship was some of the worst I have seen on a cruise ship (this is my 8th cruise). Maybe if I had more overpriced and under poured cocktails I would have found them better, but 2/4 singers in the production cast could not make it as half-priced wedding singers on land. The dancers were mostly decent, but honestly when one of the male dancers practically collapses onstage during a lift of one of the more Rubenesque female dancers it is disappointing. The production value of the shows was good, but again when only 2 of 4 singers can execute it is just a recipe for disappointment. I do want to call out one performer who is a guitarist by the stage name of Philly - she was above average! Her personality and performance ability was awesome! Overall, for the “last minute” reduced price we paid for this voyage we were satisfied. If we had paid the full rate my review would be harsher. Read Less

Lots of wasted time on ship, Very short time in most of the ports. Ship needs to be more considerate of passengers needs and less on ships schedule. Would be my last consideration for future cruises. First dinner had to wait in a line for a table in a half empty dinning room supposed to accommodate " Anytime Dinning". Orders food before everyone around us and had to complain to head waiter to find out why everyone else that ordered after us was already having desert and we where still waiting for our dinner. Another morning of a day on ship went up to deck 15 to breakfast and ran into only one open section at 10:00am with a line of people waiting to eat. You would figure on a day with no place to be knowing that passengers would probable sleep in the ship would keep more options open. Zero entertainment after 10:00 pm. How about an after hours adult comedy show? Where have you seen a casino that doesn't pay you in cash. Was told they would mail me a check in 3 weeks and if anyone wins less than $30 they donate it to charity???? Read Less

We chose this cruise for many reasons; spending time with friends who've moved away, the convenience of round trip out of San Francisco, love of the beauty of the Inside Passage of Alaska. The weather was absolutely amazing!!!! Never have we been to Alaska when it hasn't rained as least some of the time. This time we had beauty sunny skies in each port. The day we were in Tracy Arm we were able to get closer to the glacier then ever before and the sun was shiny spectacularly on the glacier as we approached. The production shows were very good and I particularly enjoyed the "Born to Dance" show which featured the dancers. I thought the singers were unusually excellent and I really was aware of the beautiful blend of their voices. Our cabin steward, Florante Bagaio, excelled in his serve and attentiveness. He is quiet and unassuming but was graciously available whenever we had need of him. Because we were in a suite we were able to have breakfast every morning in the Crown Grill. Leo and his staff of Juieta, Zoran, Francis and Antonio are exceptional. We had three shore excursions and they were well done. We've taken this cruise before and so we made a point of going on different excursions and the dog mushers was my favorite this time. There is so much to see and do on this cruise that we'll definitely take it again. The only difference will be that we'll go to Glacier Bay. Read Less

We choose this cruise for our 30 th. wedding anniversary . Before the cruise we toured the city of Seattle. We had a great time. It was a good idea to try and arrive one day before you cruise so you are relaxed and not rushing. The Princess was a beautiful ship. When you pulled up to embark there were plenty of employees to help you along way, they were very helpful and friendly. When we got to our cabin we had balloons and a sign wishing us a Happy Anniversary, which made us feel great .Our steward, Nathaniel, was the best. He knew us by name whether we were near our cabin or just in the corridor. Our room was always tidy when we returned from an activity or a meal. He greeted us every morning with mail of what was planned for the day The food at all the restaurants was great. The waiters treated you with great pride in making sure you had everything you needed and that you had enough to eat Entertainment and activities were good but they overlapped or started at the same time so you had to pick one. Sometimes they did run an activity again but not all the time. Getting on and off ship for port excursion was very fast and very orderly Finding your way to excursions were very well marked so you had no problems finding yours . Would recommend going on any cruise; they are the best for the price. Had only one problem and looking back it should have been reported the first day. This took place the first day while touring the Lotus Spa at the gym. Here they tried to sign us up for different activities. At one area they were registering guests for a foot seminar, along with belly fat reduction. There were three instructors standing by. When they started to talk about weight loss and we told them we were not interested, one instructor stood very close to my wife, staring at her. When she inquired why he was staring, He said, "you need this class ".So she said to him, "Excuse me, are you calling me fat and he again said, "you need this".. We walked away. This made her very self conscious the whole trip. She had thought that she might like to have a massage while on our trip, but was so uncomfortable and insulted she did not want to step foot in the Lotus Spa again! .Princess may need to give some sensitivity training class to this member of their crew. Unfortunately, we were so upset by this encounter we did not think to get his name. By the way, I don't believe my wife is fat by any means. Read Less

Take advantage of the unlimited drink package and the prepaid gratuities. SPEND THE MONEY FOR THE DINNER ON THE BALCONY! It was worth it at twice the price. The only complaint was the internet speed on board. I figured It would be better. But if that is the only thing negative I can say then that is okay with me. We and another couple took this cruise to see a large number of places as a first visit. We briefly explored Rome for 4 days prior to joining the ship. The embarkation and disembarkation was seamless. We booked a transfer from the ship to the airport to fly home - again was extremely smooth. Our cabin had a balcony - it was used a number of times - entering/leaving port, watching the coast as we sailed along, and just getting some sun. We opted for fixed traditional dinning. The food was the best food we have had on any cruise ship. The wait staff were attentive and fun to be with. The entertainment was good with many exceptional performances. We enjoyed the comedians the most. The house band was very good and we enjoyed the song & dance performances. We typically had shore excursions during the day and became tired after dinner - we rarely stayed up late. I enjoyed the astronomy introduction - some of the ship's lighting was reduced to facilitate seeing the stars and 5 planets - Venus, Earth, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter. The ship's staff had a mixture of recorded audio and live discussion. The cabin staff was attentive, efficient and very interested in what we were going to do each day. We were consistently treated as valued guests - any request was handled very quickly. All but 3 of the excursions were provided by Princess. They were well done, but some of the descriptions of the excursions and reality did not match. Comments were submitted to ship's excursion staff and were acknowledged promptly. In one case a partial refund was made. Read Less

Princess has the absolute best customer service, staff and crew. The cruise directors are engaging. It's always a fun experience. The food is incredible. The cabins are small, but well maintained. Elegance that has seemed to disappear from the other cruise lines. The passengers are truly appreciated on Princess. Absolultely love that we could have dinner at different times each night and meet different people. The afternoon tea was delightful. Had a blast with the photo staff taking portraits. Best value for the money to get the portrait package. Includes the thumb drive (in the shape of the ship) AND the prints. No other line does that, (at least none that we've traveled on.) The guest speakers and educators were fun. And their presentations were fun, not boring. Loved the puppies and the ax throwing. One of my favorite things about Princess is how the cruise directors get involved and join in the activities with you. And they go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying yourself. And it's nice to see how well trained the wait staff is. Always there to fill a water glass, clear your plates and bring you whatever you need. By far our absolute favorite cruise line. We've taken 10 cruises and 6 have been with Princess. Booked our next cruise with them already for May. Read Less

My wife and I were blown away by the experience. Starting at embarkation; very efficient -- we were onboard within 20 minutes from my arrival at the port. A quick self-tour of the ship awed us with the facilities and atmosphere. Our cabin was surprisingly roomy, given what we had heard. Plenty of room, bed soft as a cloud, and the balcony -- we lived on the balcony. Even in Alaskan waters, we kept the door open overnight to hear the sound of the ship's wake. Crown Grille served what was among my best meals ever. Meals in the main dining room were almost always very good (not quite to the Crown Grille level, but very good. The Saturday night NY strip steak was a kind of tough. Champagne breakfast on the balcony was decadent. Cruise Director Alexander and his staff were always warm and entertaining. The Irish duo who generally played in the Wheelhouse bar (Rolling Wave maybe?) were our favorites. From campfire-style songs to bawdy Irish drinking songs, to Johnny Cash, their repertoire was broad and impressive. Second favorite was the Walker Black Duo, usually in Explorers. The guy in Crooners was OK, very personable and good with the crowd, but he yelled more than sang and his voice was subpar. Read Less

Selected this cruise for itinerary, perceived cost, and I’ve never sailed princess so I thought I give it a try. Room was fine. Entertainment was fine. Food was severely lacking. I had higher expectations reading other reviews. Variety was fine, but please season the food!!! I understand keeping buffets vanilla to appease the other 3799 passengers, but in the steak house and Italian restaurants ($30/person...) season the food. Don’t make salt a garnish!!! Celebrated an anniversary and were surprised with balloons and a note. We presented the note at dinner hoping for a glass of champagne. Nope. They brought us a second dessert after we already had our dessert on the table. Seriously?! Way to make us feel special! This was after a $15 corkage fee for wine at dinner. To cap it all off, they sang- off key- a la TGIFridays! Uggghh Pre booked a reso for the lotus spa. 2x 50 min massages. After buying a bottle of oil, 2 massages and gratuities we spent $410. When I presented the $50 off coupon they gave us, they told me it was only good for a 75 min massage. I told them I just spent $400 and they said there was nothing they could do. I got the wrong massage. Recommend get a single 75 min massage for a little more in order to get the $50 off for less than the 50 min massage. Since princess nickles and dimes it’s guests, nickle and dime them back. This ship is too big. Cattle call for dinner- especially at sea days. Cattle call for excursions. Cattle call getting back on the boat after excursions. Normally it was ok getting back on, but we did stand in the blazing sun at St. Peter Port for over an hour. Overall, the trip was just ok. Boat was nice and clean. Embarkation in Southampton was super streamlined. Nice job! Staff was mostly just ok. I don’t think I’d recommend princess. They seem to just want to charge for this and charge for that all the time. I recommend paying a little more for a more inclusive cruise. You’ll save more in the long run. Read Less

We chose this particular cruise because the ports of call were places we wanted to both visit and also re-visit. Embarkation went very smoothly and we were on board before we knew it. We prefer to go to Alfredo's on embarkation day as the horizon court buffet is generally very crowded and its very relaxing to be served at Alfredo's. Their pizza is the best and we also enjoy their traditional sangria. Our cabin was a balcony cabin which what we usually book. I just feel the difference in price for the relatively new club level balcony cabins is worth it. We do anytime dining and can usually make a reservation for dinner in the morning and then not have to wait for a table for 2. I don't mind sharing a table but that generally takes a lot longer to complete the meal, at least in my experience, and if you want to go to a show it can be difficult to make it on time. Our bed was for the first time not real comfortable which was somewhat disappointing because this has never happened to us before and this was our 19th cruise with Princess and the 5th or 6th on the Royal. We enjoyed the 2 new production shows, the Secret Silk and Encore. The comedians were very funny and the bands were all very good. Several of the ports were a little disappointing this cruise but overall we enjoyed them. I felt that the service was excellent as it always has been in our previous cruises. Disembarkation went smoothly as well. Read Less

Our friends were going and asked us to go too. We visited Vancouver for 4 days prior to the cruise which was great. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. The ship caters to every kind of trip that anyone can imagine. Our cabin was wonderful, comfortable and very bright. The steward was excellent and kept our room clean and tidy. He provided us with what to try and things to do. The dining was exceptional and had something for everyone no matter what they may desire. My wife is lactose intolerant and the waitress catered to her needs and advised her of what to have. Entertaining and activities were fantastic and had something for everyone. The service was astounding and beyond our expectations. The port and shore excursions were historic and very entertaining. We took. Us tours, walking trips, train rides to areas of Alaska that we had only heard about. The cruise as a whole was beyond anything we could have ever imagined and we were completely satisfied with our choice of cruises. Read Less

To celebrate our 50th anniversary. The cruise-tour exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. Vancouver was somewhat of a challenge. All excursions were awesome. Especially the Denali wilderness tour, on a clear day. Denali was spectacular. Some of the drivers told very interesting stories. McKinley was just as awesome for we got to see Denali from the other side, on a clear day. the Riverboat and gold panning was great as well as seeing the Alyska Pipeline. The train ride to Whittier was great, lots of fun. Seeing the Hubbard Glacier, the Inside Passage with the Marjorie Glacier and others was beyond words, spectacular. White Pass train was great, don't miss this one. Juneanu offered many adventures. Ketchikan was fun we did the "Lumberjack program" very entertaining. Saw bears, caribou, sheep, Moose and two calves, sea lions and whales. Food and accommodations were all exceptional. Our experience through Vancouver airport was, at least for us somewhat trying. It seemed to us that it could be less messy, with all the lines we had to go through. Overall, we would do this trip again. In a heart beat!!! The shows in the theater, Atrium and other areas were very good. Enjoyed the "Encore" and "Noodles" the comedian in the theater. Food was always super no matter which venue we chose. Our Room Steward always kept our room perfect. What ever we needed, it was done. Read Less

We love the Princess Cruise Line and this Ship, the Regal Princess was incredible! A Beautiful decorated ship and very functional and eye appealing. The food was diverse and wonderful and our waiters at our Dinner time were Very knowable, polite and Fun! All the Entertainment was fabulous !!! We even saw the Beatle Maniacs. Super singers and dancers entertained us while cruising the Baltic Sea. We chose a Mini-Suite and I loved the sitting area with a flatscreen TV and the Bed area also had a flatScreen TV. And there was thick curtain that divided the room if you should have children with you. And the Extra Mid room Curtain was great to block out all Sun for sleeping in on those Sea Days! The steward took meticulous care of our room. The Bathroom included a Tub and for the first time I could shower without water getting all over the bathroom !!! The shore Excursions were reasonable and exciting! Read Less

Price for this type of cruise was perfect , the staff was so warm and helpful, and the views incredible, and really enjoyed the food and the ship facilities ... would recommend this cruise and ship to anyone considering a cruise thru Alaska. The only set backs was the quality of the onboard internet, especially for the cost, as well as clearing immigration in Vancouver., maybe not so bad for US or Canadian citizens, but for others it is really painful, and extremely exaggerated. Entertainment was fun, the shows very professional, and loved every bot of the cruise. The cabins were quite spacious with walk in wardrobes, by far the best use of space i have seen on a cruise ship, and i have been on more than six cruises , very practical and comfortable, we never felt cramped or closed in, bed was king size, so large and again very comfortable Read Less

We had a fabulous cruise. We celebrated our 42nd anniversary and had two other couples with us this time. We had a wonderful time with Michel and Alvin as our waiters in the Botocelli dining room. Our whale watching excursion was top notch. We got to see 10-12 humpback whales “bubbling” and we enjoyed seeing them. We had a great time looking at the catch pot with starfish, urchins, and several fish in it. We got to count and catalog the catch. We also identified the whales flukes to see if they had been cataloged. Both embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. Our cabin was nice (Yoos took very good care of us) and we loved being out on the balcony watching for whales. All the entertainment we attended was fabulous. We especially enjoyed Oscar Carlos. We got to listened to him on two different nights and loved his performance. We even got to talk to him personally and found out he had been in San Antonio Texas for his military training. Service was exceptional. Anytime we needed something Yoos got it for us. Our excursions were great. Our friends enjoyed the lumberjack show and getting to see the native totem poles. Our whale watching tour was the best and highlight for everyone. The train ride was also enjoyable. We all would have liked to have more time in Victoria, BC. The tour we took of the island was good but would have enjoyed having some time visiting the town. Would we go again. Yes!!! This was our second time and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. This small ship is big enough and if it's going to your destination of choice then I think it's a done deal. We chose the late dining option with 3 other couples and made great friends. I liked the "sip and sail" option but not because of the endless alcohol but because you could have what ever beverage you wanted anytime. But I suppose that "sip and sail" option is for early bookers such as we happened to be. As per usual the excursions were not used as you could get much better deal elsewhere . We would gladly rebook if the destinations matched, but I'm not a cruiser as this was my first sea cruise ever. I loved that this was the Love Boat. It even looked like it a bit like it too. I thought the pizza/hot dog/ burger kiosk was lame and wouldn't recommend it unless you were in severe calorie deficit which would be quite unlikely. My favourite place for a drink was outside of the Panorama Buffet as the views were super. The upper floor library had reasonable views and looked stately; but I never used it for reading. it never seemed busy. We did do a non buffet breakfast once and found again that meeting people was the real advantage of it. The service staff at the restaurants and rooms were always pleasant Read Less

3rd cruise on Princess, first in 11 years. Normally we go Royal but this was the only itinerary hitting both Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay. Bad weather. Fog out of Whittier which plagued us for 3 days. We only got a glimpse of Hubbard before the cptn decided the conditions were too bad. Fog in Skagway which made our White Rail trip less scenic. Finally got OK weather in Juneau. Then rain in Ketchikan. Sun finally came out for our sea day to Vancouver. Ship isnt bad but has a few issues. A handrail in Princess Theater came off and almost sent an old man sprawling. Problem with water 1 day and they turned it off from 830 to noon. Some carpet got wet on promenade and we had a musty smell. Other than that it was ok. Ship was built for 2600. Now they pack on up to 3200. Feels crowded. Theater is too small. Not enough places to sit in common areas. Food was passable, though the menu was a bit fancy for our tastes. Entertainment was pretty good but not as good as what weve seen on Royal. For shore excursions - you get a lot of pressure to book in advance which we did. Bad idea. You can get these from vendors at port. And, if weather stinks, you dont lose your money. We blew 340 for an excursion in Ketchikan that should have been cancelled but was not. Balcony room a must. Read Less

We went with 2 sons and daughters in law. They wanted to go to Alaska. We went 25 years ago and had a fabulous experience. We were excited to go share it with them and my husbands parents as well. We’ve been on 10 plus cruises-different companies. Enjoyed being with family but overall experience was as lacking. Service was top notch liked the dining room food (rate a 5) the best but overall food (rate a 3) wasn’t what I expected. Bed was the most comfortable I’ve had and our room steward was great. Loved having a balcony! Was awesome especially at glacier bay. Weather played a huge factor in the excursions and even getting in to port in Skagway (we didn’t!) so that was very disappointing to have only 2 of our 5 scheduled excursions work out. It was unfortunate. Glacier Bay was a highlight. Last time we did the inside passage and I liked that better. Saw more wildlife last time. Entertainment was ok. Read Less
