As we live in the Vancouver area we had a friend drop us off at Canada Place port. It took a bit of time and patience to get through security but then is was a quick embarkation. After having lunch we went to our cabin to find our luggage waiting for us. The emergency drill location for us was the Princess Theatre. It was very well organized and no need to bring life jackets. It is well worth it to get the "Coffee Card" to be able to have specialty coffees and a better cup of brewed coffee in the Piazza. We enjoyed the Enrichment Lecturer, George McGuire. He was very informative and entertaining. I did a few of the crafts, played cards and Mah Jong on the sea days. We went on a tour of Honolulu that we arranged at the port. The $50 each price was a lot better than the ship's tours. The Pearl Harbour Memorial was our last stop, before being returned to the ship. We were not able to see the "long movie" (all tickets - they are free, had been already given out) but we checked out the two small museums and they were good - also free. In Nawiliwili we walked to the nearby shops and enjoyed the picnic / park area and boardwalk. We decided not to get off the ship in Lahaina as we had spent quite a bit of time prevously in Maui, and this port required a tender. We enjoyed a peaceful time on the ship. In Hilo, we went to the farmers market and ate lunch at the "Pineapple" Bar. We had Pulled pork sliders and Pineapple cider and ale. The bus back is cheap, but takes a long time so it is better to get a taxi or Uber and share the cost with another couple. Back on the ship we participated in putting, ring toss and paper airplane contests. Daniel Oliver was a great singer and piano player in the Crooners Bar. We really enjoyed this cruise because of all the Canadians on board, over 2,000. A lot of passengers were from the Vancouver area. Princess provided us with a traditional Turkey dinner for our Thanksgiving and had a special trivia and Canadian Name that tune that evening. We chose the Walk-off option so we were off the ship before 8am. We took the Canada Line to Bridgeport station and then a bus home. Sure beats having to fly. Read Less

After being on the Regal and the Royal, this was a much smaller ship. It is also a much older ship and is in relatively good shape. We had a mini suite on Caribe and it was a great location and everything in the mini suite was fine. I did miss the International cafe but we did adjust to just having the coffee bar. Breakfast buffet was fine, but the lunch buffet has no imagination. I love a salad at lunch, but the same boring items were offered every day. No glaucamole, no diced eggs, no chicken, but lots,of pork done any way you can imagine. If you eat pork, you are fine for a meat selection but for those of us who like a little chicken on a salad, we were out of luck. They need someone to redo the entire salad bar and make it interesting, not the same dull and not many items to choose from. How about a taco bar once in a while. Dinner in the Provence dining room was very good. Lots of items to choose from and it was always different. My only complaint was the coldness in this dining room. People complained every night and nothing was ever done about the temperature. Take a coat with you as most,of us wore one at dinner. Sad, when you can’t enjoy a meal without your coat on. This really needs to be addressed. The indoor pool was a nice option on the rainy day we had at sea. You have your usual chair hogs at the main pool, but the deck attendant was very good checking chairs and removing items if left for an hour. Limon was a horrible place to walk around. Trash and graffiti everywhere. We will stay on the ship next, time. Amber Cove was fine and we enjoyed our day there. Falmouth, Jamaica has an enclosed area that was wonderful to walk around in. In Cartagena, Columbia the vendors totally ruined the day. They were in your face and way too aggressive. That is another port we will avoid and we were on a tour, which made it worse. The Panama Canal was amazing and so glad we stayed on ship to go through the locks. Such history and it was fun to see all the ships, going the other way. All in all a good, cruise but do,wish they would go to some other, ports that are more pleasant to visit. Read Less

The Panama Canal was on our "Bucket List". Aftrr a lot of health challenges, we knew we wanted to do this. We liked the smaller size of the Island Princess. Fewer passengers, not so busy and crowded. We had a balcony cabin starboard and midships. It was more spacious than we anticipated with lots of storage space and a generous balcony. The cabin steward, Zaldy, was a Godsend. He handled all our special requests, including extra pillows to help make hubby more comfortable. He even found a lost hearing aid after we had searched diligently and couldn't find it. We selected early dining, but I don't think we would do that again. Oir table mates were delightful and we enjoyed getting to know them. Restaurant staff (Bernie and Roy) were great. However, there were entertainments that we missed because we were at dinner. Next time we will chose anytime dining so we can enjoy the piano guy or get to the Princess Theater earlier for seating. We also liked the food choices at the buffet as much as we did the dining room menu but felt locked into the dining schedule we had picked. Not Princess' fault, just didnt want to leave our seats at the table empty when we were expected. Amenities on board were amazing. With 3 pools, we rarely lacked for z deck chair when we wanted one, the pools were used but not crowded. Of course, kids were in school so most passengers were adult, we saw very few kids. We particularly liked the big screen movies (3 Cirque shows, Greatest Showman, Dumbo, Spiderman and a couple of others). Entertainment was excellent--awesome comedian, great stage performances, intimate crooners and instrumentalists in the bars and pubs. We.didnt have enough time to see them all, but really enjoyed what we did. Shore excursions were ... disappointing. Our favorite by far was the train/canal/bus tour in Limon. Our guide,Ivan, was remarkable--by far the best guide we've ever had anywhere. Puerto Plata was a lot of bus time without time to really explore any sites. We got off to see a church (be careful: our guides 'helpers' will grab your camera, take a few shots and expect tips when they hand your camera back). Shopping was limited to one store and I'm guessing the guide gets a 'gratuity' for bringing the bus there. Jamaica was also a lot of bus time. We took the Konoko Falls tour, but the tour itself was very rushed, no time to wander the grounds at leisure. Read Less

We went to witness the Panama Canal again for the second time to see more of it and understand the sacrifices that it took to build the canal. The Island Princess is smaller and was able to travel through the older canal locks, On our previous Princess cruise to the Panama canal our ship was larger and we got to travel through the newer locks. It was exciting both times. The Island Princess ship was very nice but needs a few new updates. It is showing a little wear in a few places on the ship. The ship's entertainment was very good and Benny the cruise director was very entertaining. The selections of food were also very good and there were always new foods to try. If you like a rich Cajun flavor in your dining experiance the Bayou Cafe is the place to try. Service was excellent and there was plenty to eat. The only disappointment was during a walking tour in Cartagena, Columbia. Street vendors were constantly in your face even after you would tell them no thank you, and made me feel uncomfortable Read Less

We wanted a short relaxing get away that was round trip from a west coast city. We were r/t Los Angeles. The ports were places we had visited many times before so we did not do tours and got off when we wanted to or just stayed on board. We had done the Ruby in the British Isles and it was a nightmare. Too many things to mention here but my review echoed many others for that cruise. I was reluctant to go again on a Princess but I am glad we did! MUCH better experience! We had the free beverage package which I found didn’t not add to the he basic fare and we really enjoyed that. The wheelhouse bar (Rosalee, Raffy,Dennis, etc) was the best and we basically closed it nightly. The clientele is much older and the ship was full of wheelchairs, walkers, and canes but this ship managed them much better so we were not put off by that. The food is not great, the entertainment not so great, the games were rather silly but we did what we wanted and it worked for us. We normally go Disney, Cunard, Holland America and I like them a great deal more but for a short, inexpensive break, the Royal was just fine! If they were to offer the beverage package again, I would grab it in a second!!! Read Less

I’ll admit, this was my first cruise so maybe I don’t have anything to compare it to but I came away from this cruise totally thrilled. Sure there were hiccups, it was the inaugural cruise, but the very good far outweighed the bad. The Sky Princess is gorgeous, especially the piazza. Our cabin with balcony was more spacious than I expected with tons of storage facilities. Our steward was awesome and made me laugh the way he set out my pajamas each night. Thanks Ivan. I have never had service this amazing before. The food was fantastic. The bars, especially Vines, was also fantastic. I loved their wine flight. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze. I had done my homework and was “ocean ready”. I had no problems with the medallion and I liked the bookmarking feature for daily events. I barely looked at the Patter. Entertainment was fantastic, especially the Rock Opera show on our last evening. The costumes and music were broadway quality. We did one ship’s shore excursion to Amalfi and while crazy expensive, it was very well done. I have motion issues and was concerned about that, but I almost forgot I was at sea, I felt very little motion at all. Smooth sailing. I was very sad to leave this lovely ship. I’d go back in a heartbeat! Read Less

We choose this cruise for the experience of sailing through the Panama Canal. We actually had 2 days in the Canal with the first day experiencing going through the locks and the second day a nature sightseeing excursion that gave us the chance to see the canal on the water while also finding several varieties of monkeys, birds and a croc. Having white faced monkeys in the wild taking banana pieces from our hand while in the boat was a can't miss activity. Also seeing container ships at water level in the canal was amazing. This cruise also gave us a chance to explore San Francisco for 3 days at the end of the cruise which was very well time spent. The Coral Princess is an older ship which needs some TLC. It also has an older passenger list with an average age above 60. Our balcony cabin was very small and the shower was so small it was a challenge to use. We only got warm water from the faucet in the cabin and the sink did not drain well. Entertainment was a disappointment and did not happen often. Food was marginal at best with a limited selection in the main dining room. Service overall was good but 3 of the 5 ports were tender ports which created an extra layer of difficulty in leaving the ship especially if you did not have a ships excursion. We did take some good excursions, but a Cartagena city tour billed as "easy" was not with extensive walking through uneven city streets on a hot and humid afternoon. This was our first Princess cruise and honestly we were disappointed in the accommodations, food and entertainment. We were very surprised when the Casino did not have a bar as my wife likes to play slots and I will usually sit at the bar, have a drink and watch sports. This did not happen on this cruise. We are avid cruisers this being or 3rd cruise this year. There are too many cruise options and destinations to have only an average shipboard experience like this with Princess. Read Less

first cruise had no idea what to expect , will know how to go about how to book next time,we were very happy with the entertainment, which was different every night, the room steward was very efficient and the room was always cleaned on time.the cabin was as good as we would have expected especially the bed which was very comfortable, the position was the downfall however ,we payed for a cabin in the centre of the ship through an agent but was allocaited a room at the rear , lucky for us we only had a few rough days which was quite uncomfortabe to sleep.the dining was quite pleasant with a great variety of food every day, over all it was a great experience for our first cruise and would and would recommend anyone to go ahead and give it a try, we are sure to try again but will be sure to use our experience when we do our booking .the ports we stopped at were quite disapointing for shopping but i guess thats what to be expected ,give it a go you may like it. The Star Princess is showing the age that she has. Overall, she is still in good shape. But the Crew! They are what made the trip. The Asst. Cruise Directors Molly, Dan, Roxy, and Oz were the best. Always with a smile and a funny quip to start your day or night off. Funny, Funny games always. Our two servers, Benny and Mario, were always there to help us get whatever we wanted and when we wanted it. Great with the suggestions when we were not sure of the food that we wanted to try. In the photo gallery, the trio of Marita, Illia and Patrick were very understanding of what we wanted in our pictures. The light was always right and the poses prefect. We had a Renewal of Vows for our 25th and the pictures were wonderful. The Officer Andrew that organized our Renewal of Vows was great. He looked after everything that we needed and could not apologized to us enough times. It wasn't even his fault. The Captain did not speak loud enough for my wife to hear and could not repeat after him as requested. As such, it ruined the video of our R of V. He made sure that we received everything that we were supposed to and even threw in some extras as for a sorry. The last one would be Milos, out Crown Grill waiter. He made the already great meal at the Crown Grill better. Milos was smart, witty and always taking care of us. My wife wanted to adopt him. It was a great, great trip and we could have not asked for a better trip. Read Less

ports of call were very a good variety and accommodating - food service was great and well presented. Rusty was a great server in the Explorers Lounge for daily beverages. there should always be transportation from ship to shore installations for handicapped and elderly embarkation and disembarkation was very efficient and smooth. the anytime dinning was easily adjustable and worked well. the casino is very dated and very poor in winning, we only spent about one third our usual casino time on the ship as we say in our gaming circle the casino was very very tight and not worth playing or paying. other activies were well and readily available - my major concern is that there were no church services offered on this cruise we have taken 44 cruises and this is a 1st for us LGBT seeemed to prevail for services, and the bererage package was outrageous in price you should offer a 10 drink daily limit for $800.00 a cabin not $1415.00 Read Less

Relaxing 2 weeks. Dining room was a highlight. Food was brilliant. All staff on board were friendly and helpful. Share by Curtis stone was really good. Would recommend. Needs more shared outdoor areas and more seating inside. Shows were good. Very smooth check in and disembarkation. An older crowd though so not that great got younger cruisers as the entertainment was directed to the older demographic. Other than that it was a nice cruise. Got to see some beautiful places. Dravuni was the most beautiful place I have seen. Spent the day swimming and hanging out with the locals. Getting to shore at our stops was easy and well planned. Our balcony room was great. Excellent wardrobe and storage. The bed was amazing. If I could I would of taken it home with me. Best sleep I’ve had in a long time. Would cruise princess again if just for that amazing bed! price and convenience, local cruise. Liked princess before and like mostly princess this time, but they need to get the bugs out of the medallion, worked great to get on board. Luggage was assume they where at room by time we got on board and went straight to room. MEDALLION worked part of time, getting on board was great but then lots of people didn't use it, so in the future when everyone uses it might not be so fast. I bought the internet package, wasn't worth it. half time didn't work, always waiting, and always dropping off. when it work was ok. Food was good, some times hard to find a place to sit, this is a problem with so many people. Went to formal night, they didn't enforce it!, also had to wait for a table 30 minutes, when we did get a table there where 8 tables I could see empty, cleaned and ready for diners, why did I have to wait? no problems on cruise except couldn't get off in Cabo, due to weather. PV was a bust they had only about a dozen tents in port to shop, if you wanted to shop need a bus or taxi to go into town. Getting off was great easy luggage and customs great. Would I go again, probably. It was still pretty good, no cruise is perfect. but good times out did the bad. Read Less

Anytime Dinning in the Concerto is on the downgrade. Also in the Horizon Court. What is going on? Four meals at Concerto and all were unimpressive or poor in Concerto. Crown Grill and Crab Shack were excellent. There were 800 kids on board and the staff allowed them into the hot tubs which is a health problem. Ship in good shape. Have been on the ship many times. Mini suite was just fine and service there as well. Room service very good. Stage productions were ok but Silk was a bust and I do not think anyone understood what was going on about a big white bird flocking around in Asia. Deck parties and Atrium parties seemed like a bust. Not like they used to be like. Why no balloon drop? We are Elite with 60 cruises and should know something is wrong. In my opinion Madallion apps did not work most of the time on my android phone...so I think it stinks. Internet worked great. Boarding and leaving excellent organization. Hotel and food managers had better get on the stick or this will turn into a Carnival like cruise. Read Less
