Overall great experience. As usual, the crew was excellent, itinerary was great, room excellent, food above average in dinner room. Crown Grill the best ever. Ship recently undated and looks great. Cabin upgrade outstanding. Customer service in Vines was excellent. Cabin steward excellent. Did not do any shore excursions or attend any shows, expect the Rock and Roll Show, which was excellent. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smooth. Shore staff and ship staff were very well organized and ready to help guests, if necessary. The only disappointment was the selection of wines in Vines Wine Bar. Some are available in places like Walmart and grocery stores and sell for 6 or 7 dollars a bottle and sell on the ship for 9 to 10 dollars per glass. Over the last few cruises the selection of wine in Vines had gotten less and less and become more and more expensive. Looking forward to new wine list on next cruise. Read Less

We love to try the Royal Princess and a few of the countries it was first time visiting Loved everything and enjoyed every moment on the beautiful Royal Princess. Loved everything from sports activity to excursions dancing shows participation playing games,Zumba walking on the track on the back of the ship. Loved to sun tanning on deck beside the pool, occasionally enjoy the hot tub on the sea days. Enjoyed very much the ceremony of the crossing the Equator it was so fun. The dining service was amazing enjoyed delicious dishes, beautiful displays of delicious desserts . We had three formal evenings I love to dress up and have champagne enjoyed that very much also enjoyed some of the art shows. Most enjoyable experience was when we arrived in Peru it was first time it seemed like a different world seeing the Candelabra from the excursion boat was amazing experience, and also Nicaragua was our first time amazing place beautiful people (we also loved La Serena Chile.) Loved all the cruise members of the Royal Princess. Thank you we had a wonderful trip. Read Less

7 Family members joined us on this cruise to help celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Some family were first time cruisers and others have cruised with us before. The Sun Princess did not disappoint with staff that always exceeds our expectations, all of the staff just work so hard to make sure we all have a fabulous cruising experience and this cruise was no exception. Weather was great nice calm seas all the way to Hong Kong. We dined in the Share Restaurant which once again was Amazing!! Totally recommend this dining experience as food and service is A+ The only negative is that the smoking area is very prominent and very smelly on Sun Princess as you walk out on to open deck everyone sitting right there, I have been on other Princess Ships where the smoking area is much smaller and you never even see it but hopefully one day all Princess ships will finally become Non Smoking vessels which would be great. Lots of room around the pool and getting a lounger was never a problem. We all really enjoyed our cruise and looking forward to planning the next :-) Read Less

We chose this cruise firstly because it left Sydney harbour, secondly because it arrived in Hong Kong harbour and then for what was in between. We visited Brisbane and did a tour of town, lunch some shopping etc. Our next stop was Darwin where we went to Crocasaurus cove and did the cage of death with a croc, awesome. We visited Lombok where we snorkelled with Gemma from Mimpi Manis Snorkel Trips for the day, then to Ho Chi Minh City where we did a day tour with the ship, it was awesome. We visited Nha Trang also with the ship, we just could not have fitted it all in without these tours, we saw heaps. But the highlight for us was Hong Kong. 2 nights with the ship which was a very good idea, then we were on our own. We loved all the sea days at the beginning of the cruise and totally got into trivia, read a couple of books, great weather for swimming every day, the only thing I would say is there is just not enough shade around the pools, especially the back round one, (Sun Princess) but even around the other 2 the ones under the upper level get snapped up so fast. A pet peeve is seeing people in the pool or spa that are drinking and they dont move for sometimes over an hour, you know who you are and dont think that no one notices. This was for our 30th wedding anniversary and we booked at Share by Curtis Stone for our special dinner. The food was very nice but I came away feeling cheated, I really dont feel like we vot our moneys worth. Also I swear, unless my math is wrong, you actually pay $2.00 more for the fixed menu then buying a la carte...as I said maybe I'm wrong. I do think there is still work to be done on getting people off the ship in a timely manner at ports, Nha Trang was a disaster getting off, and there were a few hot heads letting steam off at staff that are just giving numbers out etc that have nothing to with how long it takes go get you off the ship. We had such a good time, the food was good, far too good for my waistline, the staff were friendly, my room was always clean and tidy, good coffee at the International cafe, no where else though, but bring ba k happy hour, what is the deal with that....its a great way to meet people. Now, I wonder what my next cruise will be......Princess of course!! Read Less

Helpful to find my better half anywhere in the ship. Food was great as well as service staff. Thought about. Specialty restaurant but main dining food was just fine. Good portions and still hot. Deserts were very nice and were wonderful. Sitting areas offer a wide choice from outside to quiet, music or entertainment were your choice. One of the nicest ships I have sailed on. Wife enjoyed the spa but too much hard sell for products. Photographers did not block walk ways. Cruise had perfect weather for outside activities While on this cruise the ship was requested to do a rescue of plane crash victims. We were tright there and saw the professional actions and responses of departments. Goggle Regal Princess Rescue Read Less

February in the South has been a chilly one this year. I am glad I booked this late Feb trip to my favorite part of the Caribbean, Eastern. It was just the right time to get a sunny warm up while winter lingers in South Carolina. St. Maarten and St. Thomas are great ports. 7 Day Eastern Caribbean on Caribbean Princess. Older ship, dry docked in 2017 for upgrades and the first ship in the Princess fleet I believe to go 100% live with Ocean Medallion. First item regarding older Princess ships, suites have nice big balconies which I have missed while cruising the Royal and Regal. Ok, the atrium is smaller, the Crooner Bar is smaller so is the Good Spirits Bar at the International Cafe but that lends itself to a more intimate experience where you spend time with the other guests. Crew goes out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. Crown Grill got 100% from me for this trip. Club Class anytime dining was super! It was all of the great comforts you expect and want from a familiar Princess Cruise. Ocean Medallion has some glitches to work out but for the most part it did its job. They are coming out with watch bands soon that you can put your medallion in and wear. Much needed! Embarkations and Disembarkation were THE smoothest and quickest I have ever experienced on any cruise line. Staff and crew are excellent. Shopping and Art Auctions were so much fun. If you have never cruised, this ship will spoil you for the other lines the next time you cruise. 7 days is just right on this ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary at a reasonable price. There were 3 stops and 3 full sea days. We were originally planning on leaving from a more northern port, but decided that we would have a better chance of good weather from beginning to end, leaving out of Fort Lauderdale. That proved to be the case. Fort Lauderdale had great weather from the time we arrived at the ship. Embarkation was very smooth and we were on and eating yummy food and drinking the beverage of the day by 12:30. The first stop was Princess Cays, the private Island and we elected to do the snorkel excursion there. It was a little cloudy during the excursion so the beauty was diminished slightly, but we still saw quite a variety of fish, and it was my first experience seeing and following a stingray on a general snorkeling trip. We both enjoy snorkeling, but I had seen no reviews for this excursion so was worried, but my husband and I both thought it was worth the expense. It was also well run and a lifeguard was with us to keep us safe. We then returned to the island and spent the rest of the day there. We were on the quiet side so never really felt overwhelmed by crowds. In all, it was a very nice day and it did become sunny and beautiful later. I will talk about sea days now. Our cabin was on the same deck as where all the pools are and a variety of food venues so we spent a lot of time there. It was a short walk down the hall and then we were out enjoying the day. Deck 15 has a lot of area to enjoy pools and sun and fun. One thing I would say is that sometimes it was hard to find a shaded area that wasn’t “saved” for the day. We noticed some lounge chairs would have personal items on them and the people saving them would not show up for several hours. This seems a little unkind to the people searching to get out of the sun. If you’re not going to be there, should you be taking the chair all day? We both had several hotdogs from the Salty Dog in the afternoons on ship and we highly recommended them. The back of the ship had a nice deck area for people too. It was fun to sit and watch the wake. We did that a few times and those seats were in high demand. There is also a large screen for under the stars movies in the evening. We did not partake of that as we had late dinner seating and show times did not work for us. But on walkthroughs it looked like people were enjoying the movies and were provided with comfy chaises and blankets if it was cooler. The large screen also had presentations by the cruise director during the mornings. We enjoyed St Thomas and St Maarten by exploring on our own. Actually, in St Thomas we returned to the beach where we had gone on our honeymoon almost 39 years ago so that was a must do for us. In St Maarten we also taxied to a beach and got a nice visual tour of the island on our way there. Both were nice beach days. St Thomas still looks beat up from the hurricanes but I know the island is working to recover. St Maarten looked like it was not hit as hard. Dinners were good in the dining room , and although we would not get late seating again it was nice for this trip. We usually prefer anytime dining. Entertainment was wonderful on the cruise. The dancers and singers put their heart and soul into making the cruisers have an amazing experience. Venues around the ship had top notch entertainers too. There are so many things to choose from, So little time. So much to do. The medallion experience was just alright. I think there are a few things still needing to be worked out. Twice we had charges on our account that were not ours. We had been in the same area of the ship where the charges took place. I think the WiFi picked up our medallion instead of the person that was supposed to be charged. Princess removed the charges but we would recommend keeping a close eye on your account while you’re on board. Overall it was a wonderful getaway on the Caribbean Princess, and I would sail her again. Read Less

our stwerd was awesome. He there when we needed something. Said hi in hall and talked with us. The Buffet was okay. Lots of food from different countries. Not my kind of food so I just picked. Breakfast was the same old thing and the bakery was the same at breakfast. Lunch and dinner bakery was great. Main room dining was good. Photographer they know their job. They do great shots. I loved all my 129 pictures. Get the photo package be you sail. Save $50. Do all shot and have fun with them. This cruise did not have very many kids on board. You only see them at food time. The shore excursions was good. Grand tuck stay away from the town tour with lighthouse. Big disappointment. Shop around ship or do water trips. Pamama canal going thought locks was awesome. tour after to see new locks pamama city and ride old train back to ship. Have to do it. Pools and hot tub very relaxing Try out spa. Got good programs. Getting on and getting off ship was very smooth from Fort Lauderdale fl. We carry-on our luggage. Bags 24 and 28 inch and two smaller one too. Long drive from lubbock tx. Two day drive. 3600 mile around trip. Nice drive if you have time. Oh yes!! Holiday Inn express off of us 84 and I 595 just 10 minutes from ship. Read Less

As I stated in my first review, the ship was great, crew was great and our cabin Steward Catherine and dining room waiters Alexander and Katherine were outstanding. We only ate at the buffet a few times and it was what you would expect, we ate ate Sabatini's and it was very good. We saw a couple fo the the shows in the theater and they were good. Since we were already aboard there was no issue with embarkation but when we did embark a few days earlier it was quick and easy. The lectures on the ports were very informative and though we did not see them in person, we were able to watch them on the TV in our rooms. Read Less

we chose this cruise as it is a destination we hadn’t been to before, we were not disappointed. The Saphire is a lovely ship, very easy to find your way to dining rooms and activities, the entertainment on board is varied and suits all tastes, The Drop band had a good range of music and entertained us in club fusion, around the pool on at sea days and in the Explorers lounge. The trivia games were fun and tested our knowledge. The art auctions, balloon drop, deck parties and movies under the stars plus shows in Princess theatre provide entertainment for all. The tours were well organised by the excursion team were reasonably priced and interesting. Great service in the dining rooms especially for people with food intolerance. Loved seeing Kuala Lumpur Petronis Towers. Chinatown in Singapore, James Bond Island excursion is well worth the 90 minute bus ride not suitable for people that have mobility issues though. Read Less

My family needed a cruise suitable for our range of ages and tastes and this family friendly, low stress cruise absolutely matched our needs. Very clean ship inside and out with friendly staff and fun entertainers. We travelled from Sydney, Australia to Melbourne and Hobart and then went to New Zealand getting stops at Port Chalmers, Akaroa, Tauranga and Auckland. There was a large variety of activities that suited the seniors in our group as well as the younger cousins, too. From Zumba to Bingo to jaw-dropping production shows, we were thoroughly entertained onboard. Food was easy to acquire and change to our tastes as necessary for those with food allergies. I am pleased to note that there were accessible shore excursions and the entire ship was accessible for people with mobility issues. The outside and inside of the ship were truly majestic, with details everywhere to enhance the experience for guests of any culture. Read Less

The captain and cruise director kept us informed about what was happening and made the stay very relaxing. Our cabin was smaller than expected but the bed was beautiful. We went on this cruise to relax and enjoy the ship. It provided that and more. Plenty of different areas to sit and relax. Love the movie under the stars. Food was good and plenty of variety. It started on February 15th with a 3 day cruise from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and back, and then a second cruise from Singapore to Kota Kinabalu, 2 stops in Vietnam & 2 stops in Thailand, then back to Singapore for a total of 13 days. The ship is very nice and the crew is awesome. Our flights were arranged through Princess and were very good flights. We got a transfer from the airport to the cruise terminal through Princess. Embarkation was very quick and easy in Singapore. We had a Mini-suite on deck 9. Our cabin steward Catherine was great and made sure we were well taken care of. Room service most every morning was very punctual. Our dining experience was really good. We did the buffet a few times, but mostly we ate in the Savoy Dining Room and requested Alexander and Katherine as they were just so much fun and very good at what they do. We went to a couple of the shows in the theater and they were very good. We ate at Sabatini's once and the food was as expected, very good! We had very ample time in the ports to get to our shore excursions. There were a couple ports where the cruise line arranged for transportation from the ship to the gates as we were very far away. We arranged tours in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore Kota Kinabalu and Koh Samui though private tours and our disembarkation tour through Princess. We would definitely go on Princess again. Read Less

I would take this cruise again. Shows and onboard entertainment were very giood, staff were very friendly and helpful wherever we went. The ship is showing its age, but this did not detract from the experience. Variety and quality of food, especially in the dining room was top notch. Crown Grill food and service was exceptional. We used the fitness centers extensively and jogged around the promenade deck at 3 revolutions to the mile. Itinerary was good with six sea days and four port days. A good mix of passengers was on this cruise. We did enjoy the onboard shopping and port shopping. Waiters, Room service stewards , bartenders , and service staff were exceptionally friendly and responsive. We had a great experience and will try other Princess cruises. Read Less

Friends have been touting the Princess Line to us for several years and we chose it on a whim. The size and old refined elegance of the ship was impressive. The food was outstanding and the service was exemplary. Only negative of the ship was the entertainment; the atrium piano player who sang show tunes, was okay for a while, but he then became overpowering and annoying. Also, we wish there was a venue of performers that sang/performed other types of music, like jazz or blues. We dined in the DaVinci dining hall and thoroughly enjoyed our waiter Heuerto and assistant waiter, Evalinda. The variety of menu options was good and suggestions from wait staff were on target with our culinary desires. We did not take any excursions offered by the cruise line but chose to go off and choose our own. The groups were smaller and we could tell tour guide exactly where and what we wished to tour, plus it was less expensive. Overall, the cruise was enjoyable. Read Less

All our ports were what we expected and we took some very good Princess Tours. Would go again, nice mid size ship. The pizza is one of the best of any cruise lines and is open all the time. Buffet was good and there was always a place to sit. Movies at sea are always fun and the cruise had most of the latest films out. The cabin steward was very good, worked with our odd schedule. We are a couple in our early forties and chose this cruise for two reasons. Firstly, we had taken a cruise with P&O two years ago which was particularly average. Secondly, we felt that Princess did not actively encourage children due to its lack of giant water slides and variety of kids' clubs. We do like children, but prefer a relaxing holiday in the company of adults - and this opinion was shared by many passengers that we socialised with. We were not disappointed! The demographic was predominantly adults 35-70. The ship was clean, well appointed and the staff were just fantastic. We booked a mini-suite which was spotlessly clean and spacious. There was a great choice of bars and entertainment throughout the cruise and our shore excursions were efficient and represented good value. It is worth noting that the James Bond Islands tour involves almost a four hour return bus journey and the K.L. city journey is not short either. We probably would not have booked those tours had we known the travel time. The best part of this cruise was the staff. They went out of their way to be friendly and share a joke or two. The ship is so clean and well maintained with plenty to do. The drinks package is definitely good value and there is a huge variety of included cocktails to choose from. The bed and pillows were just divine! We will absolutely sail with Princess from now on and are already looking for our next destination! Read Less

Its a big ship with plenty to do on board. Food is a little sophisticated for me. Wish they had more meals that were simple. Movies under the stars were great, first run movies, they could be a little louder. The wait staff for bar service were few and far between. they didn't really push the alcohol the way I was used to. Our room Stewart was very nice and kept our room clean. we did enjoy the extended stays at the islands. Appreciate Princess for its Loyalty Program. The new ocean medallion Cruise was great. Keeping the medallion for access to the room for entry was easy and worked quite well. We had window suite F301. First time ever travelling without a balcony and the size of the room and the bathroom with two sinks, jacuzzi tub and stand alone shower all added to the enjoyment of the suite. Plus breakfast at Sabatinis every day and Club Class dining also died positively to the experience. Both embarkation and disembarkation were seamless. We arrived around 12:30 pm and most of the crowd was already on the ship so there was no waiting and we went right onto the ship after checking in. My husband and I decided to take a 10 day Caribbean cruise for our 20 year anniversary. From the moment we stepped on the Crown Princess it was magical. All the guest are treated like VIPs with some of the best service I have ever experienced. Fernando and Sergi in the Michelangelo dinning room were the best Waite staff I have ever had. They were knowledgeable about the courses, made recommendations and in general gave us a perfect time. Jasmine in the Crooners Lounge is a “Joy, joy, happy, happy” very funny and attentive. I really enjoyed my time with her. We loved the chance to visit multiple ports and see other cultures and cuisines. We actually took this cruise because our good friends wanted to go to Hawaii and they like sea days. I'd read previous reviews , most of which were negative. Everyone was complaining about the condition of the Emerald Princess and how poor the staff were and bad food on board. WELL, I want to tell you they are all wrong!! The ship is due for a referb but it's by no means shabby. Everything was clean and shiny and everyone we came in contact with was OUTSTANDING! We'd never encountered a more service oriented or happy crew in all capacities and this was our 27th cruise. The quality of the food was EXCELLENT. The menus were imaginative and delicious and the Michelangelo Dining Room staff was top rate! Our waiter and his assistant (Lito and Jeffrey) were delightful and made our dining experience memorable every evening. Their Manager Alexander was so interested in how we were enjoying our meals. The cabin steward (Marlon) was pleasant and efficient and our balcony cabin was extremely comfortable. During the entire cruise we were contending with a big storm out of the North and our wonderful Captain Todd made it into all our appointed ports where others cancelled days ahead. He made a decision to stay safely in port in Hilo as the winds and waves were gale force that night. Everyone certainly appreciated that decision!. We had a Valentine's Day surprise where the Captain renewed our vows and presented us with a lovely certificate signed by him! Sorry this is so lengthy but I wanted to put a positive word in for this lovely older ship and her amazing crew. Read Less

It was an easy cruise to get to since we live in Arizona. We just wanted to get away on a cruise where we could just relax so we looked forward to the sea days. Plus we love the Hawaiian Islands so we always look forward to going back there. The entertainment was outstanding. We felt the entertainers were the best combination we have ever had on a cruise. Our room steward (Enrico), dining room waiter (Jack) and junior waiter (Edmund) were fantastic and rank with the best we ever have had serve us. The embarkation was the one negative point on the cruise. With a major raistorm on the embarkation day, the port was totally unprepared. You had to wait in a downpour of rain in a line outside of the tent for over an hour to drop off your luggage. Then you had to wait outside of another tent in the rain for another 45 minutes before you could get into the security tent. The City of Los Angeles should be totally embarrassed that this terminal is totally inadequate to handle a foul weather situation. Many people had the clothes in their suitcases totally soaked from the rain. Several people had clothes ruined from being soaked (like leather jackets). Now back to a positive. The food in the dining room would rank with the best we ever have had. The Chef did an excellent job of having a diverse menu and didn't repeat dishes on a 15 cruise. Take away the issue on embarking, it was a great cruise, Read Less

We arrived in Buenos Aires 3 days before setting sail which gave us ample time to enjoy this fascinating city. We stayed in a very lovely little hotel in Palermo Soho. The location turned out to be quite a distance from the city centre, but the inexpensive cost of taxis made the trip downtown less of an annoyance. Take some time to spend in Buenos Aires if you haven't been there before. It's multi faceted and interesting. On the day we embarked the ship, traffic from downtown to the pier was absolutely painful. We finally got there and were very quickly processed and boarded Star Princess in no time. Although the ship is by no means new, it has been kept in good repair and provides an attractive, elegent environment for the 14 day cruise. I am continually surprised by the nit picking that some reviewers use to criticize any minor issues that they encounter aboard ship. Their lives on land must be absolutely perfect. Our cabin, B621, inside, was tight but had ample storage space. The shower was a bit of a joke in size. The most amazing thing about our cabin and about all Princess cabins was the absolute luxury of the bed and bedding. Kudos to Princess!! Service aboard the Star was extremely good everywhere. We purchased the Coffee Card and bottled water prior to leaving home. Both good moves. We tried Sabattinis and the Crown Grill. Liked them both. Wonderful service in both. Food in the main dining room on the other 12 nights was good if not exceptional. But if you have 12 restaurant meals at home will you have 12 exceptional meals? It's the service in the main restaurant that makes a less stellar meal feel quite acceptable. And they were able to handle anytime dining quite efficiently with very little wait especially if you were prepared to share a table with others (we were). Activities during the day were sparse, but a big thank you to Princess for providing the equipment for duplicate bridge and a bigger thank you to the individuals who organized the games. 2.5 afternoon hours nicely spent. Evening entertainment was good. Enjoyed the commedian and singers. Almost forgot to praise the port speaker who was both very informative and extremely humerous. Played to a full house in the Princess theatre each time he spoke. Ports great and varried. When in Puerto Mott, go to Puerto Veras. You might think this lakeside town is in Switzerland. Ended up in San Antonio and took the public bus to downtown to Santiago. Comfortable and cost effective. Did not take any ship tours. Absolutely loved Santiago. Spend some time in this glamerous safe city. Read Less

There were countless activities and entertainment options - and all of the highest quality. Definitely arrive 30 minutes early for the evening shows in order to get a seat. The performances are exceptional. I have celiac disease (gluten allergy) and the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had many delicious options. Each evening at dinner Valentin showed me the menu for the next evening so that I could make my choices and the kitchen staff would be able to custom prepare anything on the menu. Our waiters were Marco, who was professional and pleasant, and Eugeniu, who was also impressively professional but also hilarious. He had us laughing hard at every meal. We did an excursion at each of the ports. The only one we wouldn’t recommend was the Fury catamaran and snorkeling tour. There were over 100 people on the catamaran, which was fine as there was lots of room. But during snorkeling the crew worked hard to keep everyone together in a small area (for safety reasons) so I usually had someone’s flippers or body parts in my face as I was trying to see fish and the reef. Other people seemed to enjoy the experience so it may just be me (and my husband) who were bothered. But next time I would look for a company that brings much smaller groups. Read Less
