Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Island Princess

We chose this cruise because it was a complete transit of the Panama Canal. The cruise had 5 stops plus a full day transiting the canal. Stops were Puerto Vallarta and Huatulco, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Panama City, Panama; and Cartagena, Columbia. We booked local tours through Travel Advisor for all ports but Puntarenas which we booked through Princess. The Princess tour in ...

Tobacco Smoke Nearly Ruined My Cruise

I was so excited for this cruise because I got a great deal on a Junior Suite and took two friends who had never cruised before. I booked the cruise far in advance because I need a handicapped accessible room. Our room was wonderful but it’s easy to see this new ship also has new and inexperienced staff. My husband and I took several Princess cruises prior to his death in January of 2000. Quality ...

We chose this cruise because we were planning to fly to Hawaii and stay in Lahaina at a hotel or an Airbnb.Instead we found this cruise at a very reasonable price and decided to do two things, going back to Hawaii again, and doing it at a cost less than previously planned.Pluse we really enjoy the cruise expierence. We had several problems from start to finish, however i will say that the ship was ...

Ship was good overall, dining not so much out of 5 nights at the mane dining rooms 4 of them the food was not great I had to return it. The choice at the dining room limited and not up to talking standard . I preferred to go up and eat at the buffet. Internet is awful it doesn’t work . Coming to the restaurant where you pay for your diner was amazing at the steak grill restaurant ...

Entertainment was hit and miss. More misses. The Hawaiian couple were very talented. Not only performing each day but even teaching ukulele and hula to passengers with a presentation at the end. The ship singers and dancers performed 2 shows over a 15 day cruise, really? The other nights were comedians, magicians, and game shows. The destination and subject matter speakers were good, even if ...

Beautiful Ship, Way Too Crowded

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Discovery Princess

This was my first post covid cruise and was looking for something close to home, The fact that I could drive to the ship and park across the port was great. Check in around 11AM wasn't super smooth with the long lines a precursor to the amount of passengers on board. Cabin: I liked the cabin as a solo, but unsure how two people could cruise in such a small space with tiny balcony. ...

The Tarnished Crown

This was our 23rd cruise with princess. First time on the Crown. This is also the first time we were disappointed in a cruise. Embarkation was smooth and efficient. My wife had wheelchair assist from the terminal door to our cabin door. We even got scanned for location of muster station on way to cabin, saving a trip later. Our balcony Baja deck cabin was all the way aft on the Starboard side. ...

We’ve had better

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Discovery Princess

Thanks to my friends, we got a good deal on a cruise of the Mexican Riviera. It’s a nice ship, but I have to question some of the design choices. For example, there are very few common areas beneath the pool deck where you can actually see the ocean. The Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway restaurants were surprisingly dark, with walls or heavy curtains blocking ocean views. I contrast that with recent ...

Our 11th Princess Cruise, not up to Par

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Discovery Princess

This is our 11th Princess Cruise. Discovery Princess is a new ship, it's physically lovely overall, even with some cost saving architecture. Dining has been a challenge. The food quality has been poor. Bland, lessor quality cuts of meat, shrimp cocktail has shriveled into a sad little dish. Some of the dining rooms have some square tables that are too large, creating a cramped environment. ...

Since new ship that was doing around trip LA, picked this cruise and especially it being a 10 day and holiday cruise. Been to Sea of Cortez ie into the Gulf of California before but it is worth doing again. But when got on board was disappointed that it did not feel like a new ship. The walls were not real wood but artificial wood ie pictures of wood behind clear plastic to give appearance of ...
