Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Ruby Princess

I did this cruise 2 years ago and had a great time. This time everything was changed. They said the ship was newly renovated but what they really did was add 100 staterooms. The result was less seating on the promenade deck inside. They also changed the menu which affected the dining rooms and the buffet. The quality took a dive with a less appealing menu and an addition of things like ...

Elevators and power outlets made it poor

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Royal Princess

Elevator service was abysmal. LONG waits and overcrowding. The room had NO 110 volt outlets near the bed, only 220v. They did give me an extension cord, but that was a major tripping hazard (and the cord was frayed). I ended up DUCT-TAPING it across the ceiling, an ugly sight indeed. My cabins on my Norwegian cruises had no such problems! Too much formality for me - this was a vacation ...

Great ship for the fit.. Layout is different from other Princess ships Buffet is great BUT very big, lots of walking. Seems 3 times longer than otherships. Not good for passengers with walkers/scooters etc Miss deck 7 for walking, walking only on top deck, very windy and cold. No sit down lunches at dining room on sea days. Only buffet, as I said..lotsa of walking Always sail ...

Blah food and terrible excursions

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Ruby Princess

The food was very repetitive with little variety. All meat was touch and stringy. The excursions were terrible as far as getting dumped off at locations (Ensenada in particular) where we spent 1 1/2 hours at a dusty, dirty Mexican flea market. We chose Princess because of the itinerary and we had never gone with them. This was the first and last. I hate to say it but Carnival had ...

Just returned home from a seven day California Coastal cruise on Ruby Princess. Many pros and cons with ship, but most cons lay with Princess Cruises themselves. We are 63 + cruises into our lives, 14 of those with Princess. We have enjoyed many things with Princess through the years, but unfortunately, the amounts of staff reductions and food quality, make it difficult to sail again. Full ...

Great ports, mediocre food

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Ruby Princess

We needed a quick get away and enjoy SF, Monterey and San Diego. Hadn’t been on Princess in a while. We found the entertainment to be pretty good, comedy was clean and the magic show excellent. There were a couple of excellent food courses but with a few exceptions the food is average at best and dreadful at worst. We went to Curtis Stone’s restaurant Share, some of the food was really ...

Beautiful coastal cuise. Cabins are bigger than average with a refrigerater within. Ice brought 2x a day. Ruby Princess was overrated though. Of course no cruise is a bad cruise but from all the recommendations from my friends (for Princess) I was expecting a lot more! Older ship- mediocre food- mediocre entertainment- bar service great- restaurant service great. Food nothing special. ...

We chose this cruise because friends of ours saw it online and wanted to go to Hawaii. We departed from San Pedro. Departure was great. Long Beach is lovely. We were on board in no time at all. Smooth sailing! Weather was not the best, very cold in California. Disembarkation was also not a problem. Princess does that well. The ship was not in top form. The hot tubs had barely any jet power ...

Great Way to Cruise to Hawaii

We chose this cruise to travel to Hawaii. Being our first timebto Hawaii we wanted to see more than one island. At the time of this booking Princess was the only cruise line we could find that sailed round trip from California. We had a decent time but the entertainment onboard was awful especially the Atomic Party Band. The entertainment of various classes like Spanish lessons and ukulele ...

OK, first of all this is our fourth cruise, our 1st on Princess. We booked this cruise to visit four of my sisters in the Islands. We've sailed on Norwegian, Celebrity and Disney. We flew into the L.A. area a few days early and stayed at the Crown Plaza in Redondo Beach, nice hotel and staff. Nice pier to hike around with good seafood to boot. We took an uber over to the Reagan Presidential ...
