Cheap and somewhat cheery

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Ruby Princess

This was not our first cruise with Princess, nor the first time we have sailed onboard the Ruby Princess, in fact, we are "Platinum" status with Princess. Yet it never seems to surprise us how different each ship (and sailing) is. Specifically, when it comes to service level, it's surprising to see how much of a variation there is between ships, to the point where there appears to be no real ...

Good people, not so good food

Ship A bit dated but overall in decent shape. Dining rooms were well kept up and the casino was spacious. Decks were clean and emergency boats were in top shape. Every cruise I find spots that need painted and this cruise was no exception. However it’s on the decks exposed to the salt so it’s normal to see this. I expect only a new ship is totally rust free. Room Balcony room is smaller ...

Embarkation disaster

This was our 3rd 15 day Hawaiian cruise on Princess. We bragged about it to friends and they booked on our recommendation (we got nothing from Princess). Embarkation was a unorganized disaster, we did not find the staff to be happy or friendly. The food in the dining room and buffet tasteless, I think they do this to sell the upgrade $29 each meal sites. Loved the island stops, the captain ...

Great cruise with a great staff; Issues with Los Angeles Cruise Terminal

It was an easy cruise to get to since we live in Arizona. We just wanted to get away on a cruise where we could just relax so we looked forward to the sea days. Plus we love the Hawaiian Islands so we always look forward to going back there. The entertainment was outstanding. We felt the entertainers were the best combination we have ever had on a cruise. Our room steward (Enrico), dining ...

The way to see Hawaii

Ports and excursions. Great way to see 4 islands in Hawaii without the hassle of plane rides, car rental, accommodations, food, etc. Each island is unique. Maui had an unbelievable number of whales. There were about 10,000 in the area and we were there in peak whale watching season. Oahu was crowded but we did the hop on hop off experience. Saw and climbed Diamond Head, Boy for snorkeling as ...

First and Last time on Princess

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Ruby Princess

We choose this cruise due to an excellent rate. We have been down the Mexican coast many times and wanted a little get away. We booked a Ocean View cabin, but were pleasantly surprised by an upgrade to a balcony. The food was not good at all. I compared it to something like cafeteria food or hospital food. Very bland and repetitious. The horizon buffet area was horribly crowed all the ...

We were looking for a honeymoon cruise that we could drive to and still have warm weather. Since we live in Southern California, the Mexican Riviera fit the bill. Boarding was a breeze. We parked across the street from the ship and were on board in no time. Check -in was efficient and stress-free. The Ruby was recently updated and it showed. The ship was immaculate and looked very modern ...

We chose this cruise about 6 weeks beforehand as we were looking for a winter getaway. I was looking at a few different options and I am very pleased with the choice we made. Starting with embarkation, the tone was set. Really efficient and seamless - we got our luggage quickly and from port to ship was fast and all staff were friendly! Although it was not perfect (what is?) there were so many ...

We chose to cruise with Princess on this sailing for the opportunity to cruise the pacific coast of Mexico. The ship has been updated and is lovely. Easy to navigate through. Very clean and comfortable. Our balcony stateroom was roomy, with a separate alcove area for the closet. Comfortable bed. Bathroom size was fine, however shower a bit smaller with a curtain. Problem with our stateroom was ...

Relaxing getaway

We took advantage of the drop and go special. Great value and relaxing itinerary. The art auction was the only disappointment. They really like to push 2, maybe 3 specific artists and don’t offer much variety beyond that even when guests request others for auction. We attended all 4 events they offered, the staff was great and friendly and the experience fun overall, you could just tell they had ...
