Big management problem with dining access.

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Crown Princess

This is my first attempt at writing a review so I hope it helps future cruisers. This was our fist Princess cruise and probably last, for us, the dining experience is 30% of the cruise, and honesty very important. Embarkation : We got lucky and rolled right through with a little unsolicited help from one of the ladies working the lines, but it looked like a free for all, caused mostly by ...

Check in. I saw 2 lines, an elite line and a “Green line”. Green line is for those of us who have completed the medallion app documents, which I did. They put me in the elite line anyway since I’m elite, and both lines moved almost exactly the same. It took 42 minutes from the time we got in line to get on our way to the ship. I think in the past, prior to COVID, I never waited more than 10 ...

We chose the cruise because of the itinerary, travelled with two friends. We were all platinum members. We were looking forward to a relaxing time and excited for the planned stops. Stops at Bora Bora and Pago Pago were cancelled prior to the ships departure, very disappointing for many of the passengers. Understand this was out of Princess control. Embarkation at San Pedro was the easiest and ...

Discovery Princess not ready for prime time. Where is my Princess?

I love to cruise and have been on over 30 cruises with more on Princess than any other line. I do understand how covid affected the cruise industry. Any day at sea is a good day, but this cruise had some serious issues. Please read the entire review as there were good spots as well as some not so good spots. I will start off saying this was a replacement cruise as I was originally booked on ...

Beautiful ship, but the Medallion app was a concern

We had cruised earlier this year on Majestic Princess (a sister Royal-Class ship to Discovery) and loved the experience. But as with Majestic, we had some issues, many related to the Medallion app (note: the actual Medallion itself worked flawlessly). Medallion app- absolutely useless on embarkation day. 1 - it removed us from the "green lane" when we arrived at the port. We then closed ...

DISCOVERY PRINCESS and the dumbing down of Princess Cruises

Back in 2015, my wife and I took a 10 night repositioning cruise from New York to Ft. Lauderdale on REGAL PRINCESS. Despite the ship having a few quirks, we had an amazing time. Service, food and entertainment were pretty much top-notch. All of this made us really look forward to sailing on DISCOVERY PRINCESS. First of all, like the REGAL, DISCOVERY is stunning. The ship is absolutely ...

Lovely cruise but ship needs work

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Sapphire Princess

We chose this cruise for our honeymoon to Hawaii from LA. The crew were absolutely wonderful and couldn't have done enough for us. The entertainment was very good but I felt there were too much reliance on singers rather than varied performances and everything shut down at 11pm. We mostly did the trivia and game shows which were excellent. The medallion was a fantastic addition! Embarkation and ...

Some good news and some bad news.....

Review for a Transpacific Cruise on Grand Princess

We chose this repositioning cruise because we needed to catch up with friends in Australia that decided to fly and the dates matched. It's an old ship, renovated about 10 years ago, and considering that it's in great shape. The service attitude of the staff is impressive, the food is hovering between good and great, with the buffet having essentially been sacrificed on the altar of Covid. ...

Ship Itinerary, Food, entertainment and activities has left ti me second thoughts about cruising in the future. First Cruise since Covid, only good thing was it had a challenged new crew which did their best to make it pleasant. Food was a repeat of the last day and same in all the restaurant's, you had no choice of menu change. Buffet so small with a very low standard of selection and tase. ...

Back in service after 2+ years

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Sapphire Princess

We were aboard the first Sapphire Princess cruise (10 days R/T LA to Mexico) after she was out of service for 2+ years. Here's what I found: This was truly a shakedown cruise. Minor "technical" issues such as elevators out of service, A/C problems, sound system issues, were pretty frequent. Ship is pretty clean. At least some percentage of the staff has been aboard since March working ...
