Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Emerald Princess

This is my third Princess cruise, second with the medallion app. Last October on the Discovery we thought we were just having bad luck with their technology, but its failure this time around can’t be a coincidence. Trying to upload documents before the cruise was a joke, and it took sitting on hold for TWO HOURS to speak to a live human being to resolve it. We finally got that taken care of, and ...

First Time Cruiser • Age 40s

Let me say that this was not what I expected after all the money I spent to have a relaxing time. First, let me say that there should be a disclaimer to let people know that this line caters to senior citizens. I’m not knocking the elderly at all but less then 5% of the guest on this ship was under 50 years of age. For me and my opinion it was a nursing home at sea. Let me put it this way, the ...

I have always wanted to see the Islands, my daughter passed in December and her heritage is fraternal side is Hawaiian. The cruise started off at LA port we were with the wheelchairs as my sister has had 2 back surgery's and Knee replacement also can not feel her legs so anytime up slants is dangerous for her. While waiting were informed most people didn't need this help only used to get at front ...

Beautiful Ship, fantastic crew, disappointing food and little variety or quantity of entertainment

This was my first cruise to Hawaii and the longest cruise I have been on. The ship was beautiful, the rooms spacious and comfortable. Some don’t care for the medallion, but I find it so convenient, you have your arms full and approach your door, it unlocks, it does everything and more than the card does. The entertainment was sadly lacking both in variety and what they offered. They had only ...

We chose this cruise because we live in Southern CA and it was less travel to be on a cruise. We haven't gone for a number of years, for obvious reasons, and looked forward to the days at sea, port activities, and the destinations. The first afternoon on the ship, we went to the "app" to get dinner reservations for that night and found out that we did NOT have dinner (table or time) for the entire ...

My first and last time on Princess!!!

I choose this cruise because of my 87 year old aunt, someone in her age group told her that they like Princess and that’s the one they use. There were issues from the time we made it to embarkment, it was a disaster the lines were wrapped around and issues with having enough porters to handle the luggage. Once aboard the ship, the steward assigned to our room introduced herself and I explained to ...

Chose this ship because it had a Pickleball court and we wanted to play a lot on sea days. On the first day we headed to deck 19 to play only to discover that the plastic playing surface did not allow the ball to bounce at all. The net was in disrepair and everything was covered in soot from the smoke stack. Not possible to play and sure why the court even exists. On day 2 I went to the Fitness ...

We chose this cruise because the timing was perfect and were excited about boarding a fairly new ship. This was an 80s themed cruise. They did have a couple of 80s cover bands, we attended Journey and Bon Jovi. Both shows were pretty good. The DJ in the Vista Lounge played quite a few 80s hits as well. We were in a mini-suite and the room itself was very nice. The service, food, and medallion ...

Crowded with slow food service.

Crowded public spaces even during port days.  Had to wait in line to enter dining rooms for dinner, even with a reservation.  Mini-suite cabin was very nice.  Room steward was very helpful. We found the ship to feel very crowded.  From what we could learn the ship was around 90% capacity.  The buffet, during normal dining hours, was very hectic.  The huge long space seemed like a cheap ...

If you are considering Princess, I would seriously urge you to reconsider. Since Covid their standards have dropped, smaller meals, cheaper ingredients in meals etc. - probably industry-wide. However other practices amount to scams. My wife and I have sailed Princess for over 20 cruises and are classed Elite with many benefits. Due to their loyalty program we have remained with them, but not ...
