Having just come back from our Hawaiian cruise Princess need to be aware that Golden Princess got it wrong. Having been with Princess Cruises before, Sea Princess 2008 and other cruise lines I know what to expect from a cruise ship. Nothing major is wrong but a lot of small factors have left us thinking what is wrong with Princess. Most of the staff were great especially our table waiters and cabin steward but certain restaurant staff had a very couldn't care less attitude, Horizon Court and Trident Grill especially. For the whole of the two week trip two of the hot tubs were out of action. Due to sea conditions two of the swimming pools were empted, very understandable but next day in port they remain empty, why ? At any time of the trip at least two of the ships lifts were out of use causing congestion and frustration among passengers. I would expect to see the Captain and cruise director about the ship from time to time mingling with the passengers, we only saw the Captain once and that was at the Captains cocktail party. Not impressed with hygiene on board, no hand sanitizer at any gangway or any of the main restaurants. There was a large contingent of British passengers on this trip so why for the two weekends aboard was American football shown on the big screen all day long ? On our booking confirmation we had a hospitality room available, we asked at the customer services desk and they said that the hospitality room would be at the airport and someone would be there to meet us, on arrival at the airport no one from Princess was there and no hospitality room. Biggest disappointment of the trip was only stopping at two of the islands due to bad weather, I fully understand and agree with the Captains decision not to enter Nawiliwili harbour and appreciate why the harbour master at Lahaina declined to open the port, but you must understand that for us this is probably a once in a life time trip with a four hour drive to the airport a ten hour flight and an overnight stay in a hotel before we even see the ship, the Americans can just turn up and jump on. The good will gesture of $250 per passenger off any future Princess cruise booked before July 2012 might seem fair,but not everyone will be in a position to take up this offer. As final evidence that Princess got it wrong the customer survey emailed to us after we got home asks if we enjoyed our vacation on board Royal Princess with Captain Nicolo Binetti we were on Golden Princess!
