"Plus Points:
The Promenade: even though it only goes 3/4 of the way around, the Promenade Deck on Island Princess is still the most spacious of any cruise ship I've ever sailed on, and a delightful spot for a good brisk walk.On this trip, 2-day service was taking 4 or 5 days, and when I appealed to guest services for help, I got a handful of free tokens for the laundromat -- precisely the nightmare I was hoping to avoid...."Read More

1-10 of 224 Panama Canal & Central America Island Princess Panama Canal & Central America Cruise Reviews
With so many older and smaller ships falling victim to the swinging axe during and after the pandemic, I wanted to fulfil a lifetime wish to see the original Panama Canal before the cruise ships all got too big to fit. This was the opportunity.
It was actually the final leg of the annual Round-the-World cruise, and so the ship was only about half full (if that). I could see that many of the ...
Chose the Ft. Lauderdale to Fort Lauderdale world cruise for the excellent scheduled itinerary. Was a bit concerned about the reconfiguration of the ship that replaced the aft lounge with additional cabins. Also concerned about general age and condition of ship based on reviews.
The delivered itinerary exceeded expectations, even with a number of ports cancelled due to weather. Princess ...
We chose this cruise as we wanted to do a full transit of the Panama Canal. And this cruise totally delivered on that. We experienced going through the canal from the Miraflores, the Pedro Miguel, and then the Gatun locks. We received a lot of really good history and information on the region, and got to see the locks in action.
As an added bonus, the food aboard was excellent. Hence we ...
I have looked forward to doing a full transit in the OLD locks - and finally did it! But that takes time (15 days) and a smaller ship (Island or Coral on Princess). There were some stumbles on board because she spent over 700 days out of service - and had only been in service for 15 days when we boarded. Some A/C issues were still being addressed. The crew worked feverishly to make everything ...
Honestly, the first few days were a bit rough with mechanical/hotel issues but I must compliment the staff - when notified, they went above and beyond to accommodate and respond and make things right. The crew was amazing!!! Ship was 50% full and the Island Princess sparkled. I will state that the first half of the first week saw the covered/spa pool out of commission along with a majority of ...
My sister and I chose this cruise because it was stopping at places we had never been to before and we wanted to see the old locks of the Panama Canal. It most definitely will be a cruise we will not forget! I can't believe how much the world changed in the 10 days we were gone! I asked my doctor if it was safe to go and he said yes when I told him the itinerary.
Well, everything went well ...
March 7-17 (2020), we were on the Island Princess for a 10 day Panama Canal Cruise. Due to weather conditions and of course the coronavirus situation, we were not allowed to dock at most of our ports! We were able to do the turn around through the canal and it was awesome! Island Princess was the last Princess Cruise ship at sea until their 60 day suspension is over. The captain and crew were ...
Picked this cruise due to its destinations and time of year. Service in all departments was good under the difficult circumstances. Disappointed that all excursions could not be made. This was through no fault of Princess or passengers. On board entertainment was good. Cabin service was excellent. Dinning was fair. Menu could be expanded. Buffet dinning was crowded and food selection was limited. ...
Route: 58 days round trip Fort Lauderdale including 21 ports of call, passage through the Panama Canal, rounding Cape Horn, and scenic cruising around Devil’s Island. Total trip 17,591 nautical miles.
1. General Comments: We are regular cruisers, and our focus of this cruise was to get an overview of the South American continent. This cruise showed us that further visits are needed. Five ...
After reading reviews for a few months ahead of our first cruise with Princess, I thought I would post about my personal experience.
Island Princess, Christmas in the Panama Canal . A bucket list tick cruise for many. One of the smaller princess ships, built in 2003, remodelled in 2015.
Boarding was flawless. We left our Fort Lauderdale hotel at 11am by cab. We were ordering coffee onboard ...
