We had our annual convention on board the Sun Princess so had no choice of ships or cruise line. This line caters for the old and very old. Passengers lived in fear for the total time of contracting Nora virus which has been on this ship since January The ship is old and out dated. The wait staff were great, they had a huge job keeping the virus at bay. The ship was very clean and food hygiene was also very good. Officers were never seen, staff of rank when about not friendly at all. Customer service desk also un friendly. Our owners suite was large, bathroom excellent. Bedroom was spacious also with a very comfortable bed. Both TV were large and modern. Room steward was excellent. Lounge suite needed a good clean by professional hot water extraction, all carpets also required professional cleaning. We will never sail on the Sun Princess again. We had 4 of us, 1 suite and 1 room with a window. With our room and the other one cost us $11,000.00 for 7 days. Read Less

The cruise was nice and the view of the glaciers was fantastic. The overall service of the crew was good. Thank you for such a good service to us. However, the first show in the Princess Theatre on 19th July, 2017 was not a nice experience to Chinese women. In the talk show at 9:45 p.m., the male speaker (humourist?) talked about Chinese women walking through him several times. He did not say "some Chinese women". He said "Chinese women". That was a generalization and was racial prejudice as well as sex discrimination. Not all Chinese women are like that. I and my friends are Chinese women from Hong Kong. We found that talk show offensive and insulting. It was the first show on board the ship and it nearly spoilt our holidays. Fortunately the rest of the journey was delightful and we enjoyed the trip on Island Princess. The restaurants were nice. We enjoyed the Crab Shack in Horizon Court as well as the food served in Bordeaux and Bayou Cafe & Steakhouse. All excursions on the shore were enjoyable. We enjoyed the performances on the ship too, particularly the piano and singing performances. Once again, thank you for your good service. We look forward to your reply telling us what action your company will take to make improvement to your talk show. Thank you. Read Less

I picked this cruise because of daily stops each day. Wonderful ports the whole trip! Ireland and Scotland Normandy are beautiful and safe to travel! We started in London and got to go to Wimbeldon pre cruise. Embarking was very smooth. Had private tours each day from the ship. Only place not offered was Kirkland. Only walk around this place. Do not bother with a tour. We paid for a tour from the ship was a horrible guide who we could not hear and he could not speak well at all. So we left the tour and walked around. Inverness and Belfast and Dublin, Cork, Glasgow and Edinbourg and Normandy! Wish we had 2 nights for France. Beautiful places to see and visit. The ship staff was wonderful! The food in Club Dinning was just good some nights and better in other nights. Sabatinis and Crown Grill had great Food and Staff was wonderful! Our suite was L106. My only complaint is the small bathroom, and loud speaker on our balcony, which woke us up each day at 7:00am, with daily announcements! We did not want to hear this on our vacation. We can set our own alarms. The other problem with this suite is the Gym above treadmill making noise above our bed each morning too. Bedding is nice and new. Our room steward was great! Shows were fun and many times no seats were left to sit in. Too crowded. Ship was big. Too many passengers. Be ready for this. Gym was hot and needs better A/C. Disembarkation was very easy. Chose a new ship having recently been on the tired Grand, loved the itinerary, found things lacking such as: No promenade deck! Well can go up and down part of deck 7, have to squeeze in past tenders, sweat as go past hot air vents then turn back and repeat as can't do circuit Space in theatre appalling, only went to 3 things as had to queue for an hour to get in ALSO mother disabled and viewing in disabled seating area in theatre was atrocious only top 1/4 visible if not in front row! No alternative entertainment being offered simultaneously in Vista to reduce demand in theatre 3,500 pax 900 ? Seats two shows the math does not work. Lack of bars/ drink service Lack of swimming pools Cabin ( standard balcony) very cramped , no second chair or table ( brochure picture clearly shows both) balcony very small Food tepid in self serve Why is towel booth required on deck 16 lido, when there are towel stands surely it would be more use as beverage station........ Lack of cold/hot beverage points in accessible areas, i.e. Prior to handwash... Ridiculous hand wash station prior to Horizon Court Excursions very expensive/ poor value for money, tour guides on the whole difficult to understand Piazza area superb but WHY the vast area devoted to photos surely these could be displayed on smart TV in cabins, this area would be much better as a social area Entertainment was lack-lustre, day time activities on Sea days minimal and/or un hosted, NO SAILAWAY / cocktail of the day or events like BBQ held on lido deck in evenings, theme nights / pool parties or local entertainments/food experiences Shops on board too high end!!!! Where were the rummage sales? We all want souvenirs and or grandchildren presents Read Less

We had 5 families joined at this cruise. Most of it was kind of disappointing. There were too little shows, especially when our dinning was at 8pm. All the shows were either at 7pm or 9pm, so we couldn't watch any shows. Also, because of the cold weather, all the movies played outside was bad idea. Most of all, our group chose Kayak and due to the bad weather, one of our boat flipped and others had to call for help to go back. All the kayaking after us were cancelled. But they wouldn't give us any refund!!! Terrible after service too!!!! But the only thing we would rate above Excellent were the 2 employees worked at "Vines". Mike and Olivia were excellent with service, so kind, and made us feel so welcomed. They definitely took all our stress away. We would definetly, go back just because of these 2 employees. Read Less

A very good trip. Food is not quite as good as some I have sailed on but good for most part. Cabin steward GERARDO is awesome! Can not say enough about him. Dining room service was a bit lacking , our dining staff during assigned evening meals lacked much in way of personality but during some of the other times the staff was most enjoyable. There is a head waiter by name of JOSE who was quite enjoyable and entertaining. The buffet area is a bit small and confining causing traffic issue but not a big deal. Cleanliness and sanitizatiin is a big deal with the line. Every trip into a food area you were encouraged to use as my grandson would say "hanitizer" (hand sanitizer). A great deal of marketing takes place onboard but it is not offensive. One thing that is offensive is the cigarette smell in the casino that you nearly always have to travel thru on deck 6. I understand some slots allow smoking. Never saw any smoking in casino but you could certainly smell it. We had inside cabin that appeared to be a bit larger with more storage than others we have sailed on. Be glad to cruise on the Ruby again Read Less

This was the second time we had been on the Regal Princess - the first was in September 2015 (Copenhagen to New York) and this last voyage was around the Baltics. We liked the ship - hence, our choice to travel on her again in preference to other cruise lines to our Baltic destinations. The ship is great, well laid out and easy to navigate. What was missing on this cruise was a "wow" factor - Yes, St Petersburg was clearly a highlight in terms of destination but it was more about the lack of energy on the ship to engaged with passengers. Compared to the previous cruise which had Martin Moss as the Cruise Director (who was fantastic), the current Cruise Director, Billy Hygate appeared to lack any overt enthusiasm and was rarely seen or heard around the ship. Apparently he had been with Princess for 45 years and it showed. His assistant also appeared over awed by him during the Wake Show. The Production shows were first rate and guest performers were entertaining. I must admit that it is disappointing that some passengers (and nationalities) lack a standard of manners that detracts from the overall on-board cruise experience - I refer here to courtesy around entering and existing lifts and behaviours around the Horizon Court and Buffet. It was my 10 princess cruise and I’m very disappointed with princess. I did 7 nights Greek isles cruise from Athens. I’ve been on Royal and Regal Princess before and it was much better than Majestic. I understand that ship is going to Asia and will be oriented towards Asian market, but it still sails in Europe for 8 -9 weeks and should be adjusted towards regular clients and standards. The décor of the ship is very dark and calm, some of the staff has difficulty communicating with passengers. The food was below average, except specialty restaurants where food was very good, especially in Harmony restaurant. The breakfast was the same in the buffet every day. The Alfredo pizza place was the best choice for lunch. International café was pretty good. The same labyrinth mazes in marketplace buffet that everybody complaint about on Regal and Royal was the same on Majestic. You could not find your way in our out of the buffet. But the worth was entertainment. It was only 1 production show on the last night, comedians were not that great, and singers were ok.Cruise director was the worth I’ve ever seen on the cruise ships. He was trying to talk as least as possible and had minimum interactions with the passengers. The embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth. The ports were great, but we only docked in 1 port out of 5 ports we visited and tendered in the other, which was a hassle for a lot of people and waste of time to get to the port and came back. The service was ok on the ship, not enough crew and not enough experienced crew to interact with the passengers. Make sure you check your final statement at the end of the cruise, because there were many mistakes made on almost everybody’s account. The ports were very nice, we had excursions in every port and they were ok, depending on the guide. We had balcony room and it was very nice, but the balcony was tiny. The room was decent size so is the the bathroom. Overall it was decent cruise for somebody who does not know what a great cruise should be. Princess cruise line used to have higher standards and better quality of cruises than Majestic princess. Read Less

If you fly from the East Coast to Hawaii you may spend 11 hrs flying. However, 5 1/2 hrs to SFO, hop in a cruise ship and you maybe saving $1500 if you count airfare, hotels, food, tours etc./ Things to remember: passport, book your tours before you leave home, otherwise you may find later on the ship your tour is closed. If you are traveling from SFO remember the avg temp is 61degrees. from Nov-May. Be prepared to feel cold weather, rocky seas and winds upwards of 25 knots for 6 of the 15 days you are sailing. Bring warm clothes for 10 days at sea. We brought bathing suits but the pool temperature was in the low 70s. If you are courageous you may watch movies outdoors. Book your transportation from SFO airport to Pier 27 and back as soon as you sign up for the cruise. Warning, it may take up to 1.5 hours from the airport. Our trip took that long on a Sunday at Noon. It took 35 minutes to travel two blocks at Embarcadero. Tours are very short, the best is the Arizona-Missouri Memorial. Be prepared to just bring a camera, tons of people go thru everyday and the security folks make you rent lockers at the reception center. This forces the rest of the tour group to wait for you to return to the bus. Hilo, Maui and Makawao are excellent tours. Unless you need to find a Pharmacy, the Ensenada tour is not worth getting. Oh, yes, the Pharmacy is 50 meters from the ship. The activity crew keeps you busy all 8 days at sea. Between Hula, line dancing, Ukulele lessons, Hawaiian history, art, photography lectures, Who can forget gambling? How about Bingo? At Happy Hour you can BOGO at 1/2 price. You can eat practically 18 hours a day and just in case you get up in the middle of the night hungry, just walk to the coffee shop and get a snack and a latte. Feel nostalgic? Go to the nightly shows and listen to your favorite tunes, magicians, dancers and stale jokes comics. Feel hungry after the show? Go to the pizzeria for a couple of slices. After all of these, you only wish to had less time at sea and more time in Hawaii. After we arrived home we couldn't wait to go back to work, we needed the rest........ Read Less

Friends (all of us in our late 50s) had chosen this cruise and itinerary as a way to get a group of old high school friends together on a vacation. Embarkation was held up a little due to a US Coast guard inspection. I assume this happens from time to time. Disembarkation was a bit strange, we chose to do our own luggage, but still were stuck waiting to disembark an hour after our given time. The ship is an older ship, but because I have nothing to compare, I believe it was just fine. Loved our balcony cabin R602 and its location. Being mid-ship, we could go up one flight of stairs to the Horizon Court or the pool, Muts, etc. Did get lost a few times when I ventured to the outreaches of the ship. Some elevators do not go to all floors, so that was a bit confusing. Had late dining in the MDR each night with our group. DH and I only skipped one night in the MDR. Was a little confused when we went into the dining room on one evening and our usual table was occupied by others. Apparently this was some sort of sit anywhere you want freestyle type of night and our group ended up being split up across 3 portions of the MDR. Food was fine if not perfect. Although, they really need to re-think how they make their Baked Alaska, was not impressed and certainly felt let down. The entertainment was nice, some better than others and some a bit cheesy, but fun overall. There were zero enrichment activities related to the cruise. Was looking for a digital camera or GoPro session and neither were offered. Had hoped for something related to the islands we were visiting, nothing :-( Loved our steward, Pedro, he was so attentive. Waitstaff and bartenders were professional if not exactly friendly. Was not a fan of our Maitre d. He came across a bit hurried and as if you were a job to him and he was trying to impress someone, but not you the customer. The ports of the Southern Caribbean are well worth seeing. Wish I had more time on a couple of the islands. Did one Princess excursion and two independent. The independent ones were the best I am sorry to say. Overall, it was a fun trip with friends to exotic places. Still not sure the money spent was worth it as this trip cost more than our 9 days in Kauai 5 years ago. Lots of nickle/dimeing right from the beginning. Haven't decided if we will cruise again yet. Who knows. Read Less
