We chose Princess because we had never taken this line before and we wanted to take the family to Alaska this summer and had to check the line out. Embarkation was a couple of hours late with no explanation. Our cabin was as expected. We could have used an extra chair, but we made do. Our luggage did not make it to our cabin until after late dinner. So we had dinner in our clothes that had been traveled in all day. We wanted to traverse the Panama Canal during the holidays, but Princess didn't seem to want to celebrate the holidays. There was a smattering of Christmas trees and one Menorah and that was it for decorations. The crew sang carols once. Other lines have made us feel like we were in a winter wonderland. The dining room food was 90% great and if it wasn't they would try to make it great. Always eat in the dining room. The hot dogs in the Salty Dog are also good for a snack. Never eat in the buffet...… You have been warned. Now for the worst part of the cruise. Our excursion in Panama City uses tenders (life boats.) Two of the tenders were not working. A third tender broke down with people on it. How could this be???? What if there was an emergency? Didn't they check these before we left? So our 8 hour day turned out to be a 4 hour day and we could not get to any of the excursions planned because everything was so far away. Thank you Princess for ruining my time in Panama. Late that night, our ship LOST POWER. Yes, we were floating at sea with no power, no lights, no nothing. No emergency power. And, no one came on the intercom to reassure the passengers for 15 minutes. Another 15 minutes before power came back on. Lots of "technical issues" on this ship. Sound system, etc. Now for the positive. The employees: the dining staff, the cabin stewards, the bartenders, all had the best customer service of any ship. That is the one thing that Princess does the best. They know how to train their personnel in customer service. Read Less

Was offered a deal at 1/4 of original price! Ship was fully booked. Worst Food/Service/Entertainment of any Princess cruise I have ever sailed. Ships staff were poorly trained. Ship badly needs a complete overhaul. Buffet was a mystery, only about half the dishes had signs, about 10% had the wrong signs. Some tables did not even have salt and pepper shakers. Ice machine in one side was down for 3 days. People who were supposed to bus the tables, looked straight ahead and would only come to the table if called. Phone in room didn't work (auto dial features). Many of the elevators had buttons that didn't t light up or had to be pressed several times. On some floors, some call buttons did not work. Ships power completely failed for 15 minute, no propulsion, electricity! Several of the tenders were inoperable, so on tender ports, there were an inadequate number of tenders. Ships paper sometimes listed incorrect time of events.Listed incorrect TV channels for canal commentary. Loved the dance band but I have never seen a group take 20 minutes every time to set up and do a sound check. As a result, they always started late (but quit on time). Took the photo package and (as we had always done on other princess ships) requested that they hold photos till end of cruise. They gave us a hard time, but eventually agreed to hold the pictures. One person claimed they couldn't find the package, another found it immediately. Talked to many other passengers (who also had cruised frequently with Princess) they all were extremely disappointed with this sailing. Expected a lot more for Xmas cruise; few decorations and little music/shows. Only decent production show was broken; entertainment not good except 2guest entertainers. Public bathrooms constantly dirty and toilets broken; water on floors; dangerous. Elevators not working well; I was stuck in one twice, doors close on you and some floor buttons won’t work/light up. One night all 4 engines blew and no power. We were stuck in the dark in a part of our mini-suite that didn’t have a small back up light. I had to hold up my non-walking spouse, who was “transferring” at that time. The joke/saying by passengers is “technical problems”, as we heard it announced a lot. Our cabin awful: the HVAC broken all the time; it would be too hot or too cold, and they couldn’t seem to regulate, and this affects my spouse with M.S. We were in ADA cabin, and my spouse in wheelchair couldn’t use balcony as you can’t close balcony door from outside and ramp deployment mechanism broken and old and they couldn’t fix; also the balcony door got stuck in the open position several times. Cabin toilets broke a lot. Shower drips all the time, without stopping. I injured myself, my hand, trying to show cabin attendant how to work/turn ADA shower nozzle/bar. Takes hours for someone to come and fix anything and it keeps breaking anyway. I spent 1/2 my vacation waiting for people to show up to”fix” things. Refrigerator in room broken and leaky. Front desk mostly takes 20-30 minutes to answer phone;quicker to walk down in robe. Communication poor. Example: It took me several attempts to get our disembark paperwork; I asked in person and called multiple times, and had to walk down in my PJs after 9PM the night before disembark. Problems with “Movies Under The Stars” screen; the top part had a black line across screen, affecting viewing. About 1/2 of the Guest Services Reps were snooty. Shore excursion Rep was to get back to us on two ?s and never did and trip sold out. Device to print your bill often broken (line too long to get from front desk); I suggested they put a note on machine, and they refused! (lot of passengers upset they can’t print and wasted time trying to figure out). Early in the a.m. one day, we were awoken by lots of noise outside cabin, and a Plummer had opened the plumbing closet by our door, and when I went out in hall in my PJs to ask what is wrong now, he just said “normal maintenance”; ridiculous to do this when people are sleeping. While food in dining room good, the buffet was no better than a low level cafeteria, and mostly same food each day, often cold and they ran out of food and didn’t replace. I had to ask staff there, and also in Int’l Cafe and bar to wipe up dirty tables. Read Less

First of all I want to say that my husband and I are Elite on Princess and have been Elite for about seven years. We were also on Royal Princess for 49 days in February and March 2019. That being said, we were excited to sail on the brand new Sky Princess and were shocked and dismayed at the incredible decline in service and food quality in just nine months. Over the years each time we boarded for a new cruise, this feature or that was cheapened, vanished, or became an upcharge. I must admit also, this was the first cruise that we didn’t buy any future cruise certificates. Cabin - We had a forward mini suite on Deck 12. We were not offered our welcoming glass of champagne that all suite passengers are supposed to get on either the first seven days or the second seven days. Bars of soap are no longer available. The Elite toiletries bag was not provided. I asked for it and was told the gold bag was no longer available. No more hair conditioner, no more tubes of lotion. My room Stewart handed me a nail file, a linen freshener, a shower cap, and a tube of chapstick. He said they put it on a towel now. We had already been aboard for two days. It took two days to get our bathrobes and Elite cocktail guides. The lights behind the sofa were constantly not working. Maintenance got them both working for about two days, then back to only one light again. There are two TVs in a mini suite. If you are sitting on the sofa and attempt to turn on one TV, they both come on. To turn off the second TV you must take the remote to within one inch of the TV then you can turn it off without turning the other TV off. It was aggravating. Non skid bathtub mats were also no longer available. Food Sabatini’s- There is a new menu so we thought we would give it a try. Big mistake! The upcharge is now $25. We expected better than what the buffet served. First, menu descriptions do not match what you actually receive. The bread is the same as every other dining venue. The appetizer was not as described. We got some kind of pastry puff instead of the wheat loaf. The fried zucchini while tasty, was three McDonald’s French Fries size pieces with two strings of yellow squash. They came with a slice of very stale bread with a glob of cheese melted on it. Just plain nasty. Next came the pasta course. I got the trio. They came in small baking dishes. What I actually got was the exact same lasagna paste served in the buffet, what was called chicken parm but turned out to be cubed chicken, half of which was breaded in a tomato soup sauce with a few salad croutons, a leaf of spinach, and a sprinkle of cheese. The third pasta was a rigatoni with pasty Alfredo sauce and mushrooms. I choked down the Alfredo pasta and pushed the rest away. At this point I began to complain how awful it was. Next course was fried sole. The fish was very fishy and tasted very old to the point of being spoiled. Needless to say I pushed it away. Hubby had seafood linguine that had no linguine! What he got was thin spaghetti with two shrimp and two clams in olive oil. Next he ordered the veal. He got two paper thin slices with a leaf of spinach in between, covered in brown gravy and mushrooms. The veal and the spinach were the same size. At this point, we again said how awful the food was. We got up to walk out. We asked where to pay but we were not charged. We then ended up getting a hot dog. World Market Place - Is the Horizon court with a new name and worse food and service. Food is a matter of taste so I will speak to quality and preparation. All over the ship passengers were talking about how horrible the food was. I got mashed potatoes with with hard cubes of nearly raw potatoes. I later saw mashed potatoes nearly brown from reheating so many times. Cheap cuts of beef brisket were served nearly every day. All food looked warmed over and most vegetables were previously frozen. Before our first seven days, the ship ran out of lettuce. We saw lots of people eating salads. Soups were mainly broth based with not much of anything in them. I noticed one woman who got rice in the buffet and vegetables and broth in the bistro. The day after formal night the buffet had a lobster dish with the tails cut into 3-4 pieces shells and all covered in a red sauce. Looked nasty to me. Food on the buffet was never hot. By the time you got to your seat it was tepid at best. Horizon Bistro - We got many meals here. You can make your own sandwiches, salads, tacos, or nachos. It was always crowded. Layout of the taco bar is backwards and you have to move back and forth to get meat and vegetables on your tortillas but it was edible. International Cafe - sandwiches and salads were edible. We ate breakfast there most every day. The panini press is gone but a new type of oven replaced it. It seemed to do a good job without ruining anything. Salads are now served in jars, about 2/3 cup per jar. Condiments are gone. You have to ask for ketchup to be put on your plate. At the coffee bar, sugar packets and coffee stirrers are gone. The biggest complaint is the muffins would be served no matter how stale and hard they were. If you really paid attention you could avoid this by remembering the muffin assortment from previous days. Salty Dog Grill - Real hit or miss. Real American cheese on cheese burgers was replaced with American Singles in plastic. It was hot on the deck and the grill cooks has issues getting the plastic off the fake cheese and the fake cheese stuck to their gloves. No cheeseburgers for us. The tacos at the grill were disgusting. Prefilled tacos were reheated on the grill. Soggy where the filling was and hard elsewhere. One bite and they went into the trash. Grilled chicken sandwiches were very thin. You really needed to order two and take the filling out of one of them, to get close to what we used to get. Hot dogs were just placed on the grill now. They were edible. French Fries were edible if you got them fresh cooked. Slice Pizza- The Lido deck pizza was very greasy. Lots of people were eating it. Not sure how they did it. Alfredo’s Pizza - We ate multiple meals here. The food was hot. Menu descriptions did not always match what you were served but, everything that was served was all right. MDR - we never ate there. We also heard the food was poor from other passengers. Entertainment - We went to one magic show that was just OK. We attended two movies in the Vista Lounge and two MUTS. There were lots of football games for football fans. Embark/ Debark- we were held up in the cruise terminal for about 2.5 hours because VIPs were aboard having a naming ceremony. Debark was a breeze. Internet - worked great when it worked. It frequently went out and took in room movies with it. Ocean Medallion- Personally, I don’t like carrying around a tracking device. It opened my stateroom door and recorded my transactions just like my key card used to do. I don’t see any value added to using it. Read Less

Ok first time ever on a cruise ship and choose this ship due to being new and the reviews I have seen. I had noticed a few low scores and people saying they are working out the kinks. Here is my review and I made sure to ask other gusts some on their 30th cruise. First. I paid way to much for this cruise nearly 3800 for a dlx R 106 room class 1_. Food cold poor choices and no flavor no seasoning. Zero. Please know we only ate at the buffet. My wife and I want to wear shorts and T-shirt’s. So we did not go to formal dining 2- staff. All seem confused and could not answer simple questions 3. A hot tea on the ship costs you extra money. A cup of hot water and a tea bag for 6.00 US dollars. Not a value in my mind 4. WiFi not working 60% of the time, medallion not working I could go on but you get the picture If I could give a negative 1. I would! The ship is new and the rooms were nice, but for 3800 not including airfare. No value from a first time cruiser We also went to a resort on Honduras that was supposedly safe and recommended by the excursion desk. We were robbed and quickly had to leave, I am a retired law enforcement officer and my wife is a retired marine. My training and my size 6-1 230 of muscle and quick thinking saved our lives in a situation of a whole crew of thieves are working at the resort. I am in the process on detailing what happened to ship security. So in conclusion. Poor value, food mediocre at best! Read Less

Do not take the Caribbean Princess at any time for any reason unless you want the worst experience of your lifetime and want to waste your money and time. On our first night on the ship, the dining room was freezing cold. The waiter did not care. One lady at our table asked for a tablecloth and wrapped herself in the tablecloth to keep warm. That was only the start of it. We arrived in the dining room at 5:00 pm and we were not served until 6:30 pm! An hour and a half waiting for our food and freezing at the sane time. That night our room (R736) had a knocking noise every second of every minute of every hour. Still awake at 2:00 am, I called the front desk and asked for help. No one came to our room that night. We called again the next day and asked for a room change. They said nothing was available. That was NOT true, there were plenty of rooms available. We kept asking for a room change and they finally took us to a room on the opposite side, the last room of the long hallway. The next “room” would have been the water!!! I said NO! I did not cause the knocking problem, so why were they treating us like total crap? We paid full price for our cruise. finally, at 8:00 PM, they changed our room on the second night of our cruise. They ran the same music and plays over and over again. There was very little variety of shows on this ship. How disappointing to see the same comedian and the same magician over and over again. We reserved the Sanctuary on the ship, but we quickly found out that their LIFT for scooters is/was broken (and still is broken) for the entire duration of the cruise, so I was only able to hobble up the stairs on Panama Canal Day. The whole reason we booked this ship was 1) to go to The Sanctuary; and 2) to go to the pool by the spa. Well, I couldn’t go to The Sanctuary because of the broken lift and I could not go to the pool by the spa because for most of the cruise, it was NOT filled with water!!!!! The other pools had ladders and this was the only pool with stairs, so having a bad knee, I could not use the other pools and the one pool I could have used did not have water in it. The food was always cold and if you like cold food, you will love this cruise. The prime rib was raw, the lobsters were small, and tonight the strip steak was like shoe leather. Everyone was always complaining about the food. Everyone was getting sick by Wednesday and throwing up and they had vomit bags everywhere!!! I stayed in bed for the day because the ship was so rocky. We heard from crew who said it is always like this on the ship. I’ve been on many other ships and I’ve never ever felt sick at all. There’s more, but you get the idea. We heard that Princess moved half the crew to the new Sky Princess and this crew now is leftovers and newbies that are not trained. I would certainly agree with this because the staff on this ship was not friendly and they were not helpful. We are GOLD level with Princess, so we have been on other Princess Cruises and always had a great time. The wait staff was always friendly and would joke with us. Well, this wait staff was NOT friendly at ALL and they didn’t even give us their first names. The coffee cups were so hot, others at our dinner table burned their hands and/or lips. Everything was cold when it should have been hot and hot when it should have been cold. This was just a mess of a cruise and I highly recommend that if you want to go to the Panama Canal — do NOT take the Caribbean Princess. Stay home and watch a video or take another ship that cares about their customers. We just booked a Disney Cruise and spent $5,700 on this new cruise set for March of 2020. After this horrible cruise on Princess, they will never ever get another dollar of our cruising dollars!!! Read Less

My fiancèe and I love to cruise. We have cruised with Carnival and Norwegian. Now we saw this awesome itinerary that featured places we've never been from top to bottom. Now we get to the check in point. The old man was rude and grumpy I asked a question and he summoned up his most bitter NO that he could find within. We looked at each other and said nothing because we were at the final stop before vacationing into bliss. Not one greeting did we receive as we boarded the ship. What we did receive were shocked appalled stares from other passengers. We are minorities in our 30's. The median age on the ship had to be 67. Now everywhere we go people look at us like we are pariahs. We go into calypso to buy items and it took forever the cashier had to figure out prices on notebook and then key them on register. So I don't like the cruises private islands, to me you might as well stay on the ship. So I was stopped by the metal detector three times. Now the lady who is at the card reader gives a weird look and the metal detector goes off. So the guy with wand is talking to me as if he knows this is wrong but he's just doing his job. While on deck 15 walking to get a snack a repair man pushing a cart doesn't wait until we pass or say excuse me he just drives in between us not breaking stride. So a buffet employee just brushes in between my fiancèe and another woman so my fiancèe has to lift her plate so he doesn't push it into her stomach. No excuse me or pardon me just impolite. He comes back through again but now he can go through with ease. I make the comment about the rudeness to my girlfriend and he looks back at me with a oh man I messed up look. Still no apology. The stateroom had stained towels bathrobes and pillowcases. Now the stains were face up, as soon as you look at the bed I see stains on the pillowcase. I threw it on the floor they cleaned room left the dirty one. So I took the case off and threw it in with the wet towels from the shower. It was replaced then. We go in effy and not one greeting not one offer for help. The cashier did not acknowledge us so we kept our money in our pockets. We go back to calypso for earbuds and the cashier while having a general conversation with someone else doesn't greet us and watches us like a hawk. 6 locations visited and we were offered a photo one time only. It's like we're low class peasants and nobody acknowledged our existence. We spent $5000 on this trip and other than good food at the buffet it was a waste of time. I would not recommend any young people or any American born minorities on that cruise ship. It felt tense at times like we didn't belong in that realm. There was no thank you on disembark day just scan your card and go. The crew needs diversity training I feel like the crew is just as bad as the passengers which leads me to believe that is the atmosphere that is cultivated on the ship. I hope others come out and be honest about their experiences on the crown princess. Something has to change and it needs to happen before an altercation happens. Read Less

Weeks before the cruise I spent hours setting up the Medallion Class and Ocean Ready applications on four cell phones so that my parents (in D514), my husband and I could communicate and utilize the newest technology during the cruise. The application never worked for either of my parents or my husband. I was only able to view the stateroom charges the first 3 days of the cruise and then nothing worked on either app. The weeks leading up to the cruise, when logged into the Princess website it stated that we could get on the ship at 10:00AM. When we checked in, we were told that we would have to wait until 11:15AM. When we boarded the ship we were told that the rooms would not be ready until 1:00PM. Therefore, we did not leave the public areas until 1:00PM. We later asked the stateroom attendant when he had to have the rooms ready during turnover and we were informed that staterooms are ready at 11:00AM. We had been awake since 12:30AM for travel that day to Fort Lauderdale and getting to the room for a nap would have been nice when we boarded. Upon entering our room D518 there were dirty towels on the balcony which I had to get housekeeping to remove. When we met our housekeeper for the first time I tipped him $20 as I enjoy the towel animals and requested them in our stateroom. When we did not receive an animal the first couple of nights, my husband tipped the stateroom attendant another $20 in order to get nightly towel animals in the room. During the entire 10 night cruise we received two towel animals for the $40. Although the towel animals were very detailed and we enjoyed them, we do not tip that kind of money for 2/10 nights for something we enjoy so much when cruising. Missing from our room when we arrived was the dining assignments card. The first night of the cruise, we had no idea where to go for anytime dining until other guests mentioned the card that was in their room. We returned to our room, asked my parents (D514) to check their room and neither of us received it. We had to go to customer service to get the information on where to eat. Later we noticed that our shower drain would start backing up after a few minutes of showering. The issue became worse so we had to have maintenance come in and fix the issue. Half way through the cruise our showerhead wouldn’t stay upright no matter what we did so we ended up wrapping the emergency pull cord around it to get it to stay up. The D514 stateroom on the morning of 10 November had to take a cold shower during the 7:00AM hour because there was not hot water available in the shower or sink. My parents stated that several mornings they were subjected to cold showers early in the morning, as they did not have hot water in their shower or in their sink. Prior to booking the cruise, we contacted Princess about their staterooms and amenities as we were comparing cruise ships and staterooms. We were never informed that the Crown Princess had tiered balconies. We paid a lot of money for a mini-suite, we could have purchased a balcony on Celebrity with the same square footage, that would have cost us less money and provided us with more perks. We never would have booked such a room had we of been informed. Our balcony had zero privacy, deck ten could look down and see the entire balcony. The balconies were also very unsafe as the handles to the balcony staterooms do no prevent a lock out. If one guest were on the balcony and another is in the stateroom and turns the handle ever so slightly the door is locked and the guest on the balcony is stranded. The bathroom plugs would not support any American electronics, not an electronic toothbrush charger, not a hair dryer, not a phone charge or even an extension cord for these items. The only thing that it would support was a nightlight. During the evacuation drill we were sitting in the lounge area where the employees were directing people into the lounge and failed to continually warn them about the steps up into the lounge area. There were four guests that fell just during the short time we were sitting there. The employees would yell muster station 7, watch your step and then another 30 people would walk in before they warned them to watch their step again, another person would fall. Someone could have been seriously injured. After the drill, we went to the customer service desk to check on a significant football game and whether it would be available somewhere, anywhere on the ship. I told the gentlemen that the game was being broadcasted on CBS at 3:30PM on Saturday 9 November and that it was LSU ranked #1 and Alabama ranked #3. The employee did some research and stated that if it was a big game like we mentioned than they would be showing it somewhere on the ship possibly the casino or available in our stateroom. Saturday (day at sea) arrived, dozens of guests were wondering if the ship was going to play the game. I went to the customer service desk that morning and asked. The employee stated that they do not get CBS and handed me the NFL game schedule that they would be broadcasting on Sunday. I argued with her that we were told Thursday the game would be available somewhere on the ship. She claimed to have contacted headquarters and claimed that she emailed the cruise director. She stated that if I returned at 1:30PM she would have an answer for me. When I returned she stated that it would not be available. After being lied to by Princess yet again, I had to pay $20 for Wi-Fi to stream the game on my phone. The first cocktail that I ordered at the bar on deck 16 next to the smoking section I asked the waiter for a straw and what the charge would be for the drink. The waiter disappeared and never returned. We enjoy the typical fruity cruise drinks like Pina Coladas, when ordering these drinks they were given in cocktail glasses with paper straws. The straws were not even long enough to reach the bottom two inches of the drink. We eventually had to order them in juice cups so that we could finish our $10 cocktails. The smoking section on deck 16 should state that there are no children allowed. There was a couple that had a 5-year-old sitting in the smoking section and eating breakfast every morning. The ashtrays in the smoking section on deck 16 are the cheapest thing on the market, other cruise lines have windproof ashtrays so that non-smoking guests are not subjected to unwanted ash and smoke that are inexpensive. We attended the Horizons for lunch after boarding the ship for lunch and again later the first day of the cruise for dinner. On two separate occasions on the first day of the cruise the dining room ran out of silverware and cups. On that note, why is the silverware wrapped and on tables, what if you want to take food to your room, you are expected to eat with your hands? The silverware set up is absurd, we have never seen this before and it was a huge inconvenience the entire cruise not just for us but we witnessed other passengers having the same issue. We were looking forward to the juice selection at the buffet in the morning as we do every cruise and it was terrible. There were two options, orange or apple, the orange juice was disgusting it was filled with so much pulp. The juice was handed out in glasses not much bigger than shot glasses so you had to continue to flag waiters down for a refill. In addition, the juice was only available at breakfast so you only had water and tea to drink the rest of the day. The milk was only available in a spout instead of small cartons like other cruise lines, so if you wanted cold milk it was hit or miss. If you wanted to take milk out onto the pool deck or in your room, you had your hands full trying not to spill it. When entering the Horizon buffet from the pizza café, the first drink station you see on the right, the ice/water machine was broken the entire cruise and water and ice were available in jars, which ran out all the time. The omelet station was another ridiculous system that Princess needs to revamp. The first time it took 20 minutes to get the omelet, we could not pick the omelet up a waiter had to continually check on the status, and the order was never correct. One morning the omelet station ran out of all cheese except Swiss, who in the world has Swiss on an omelet. Just outside of Horizons buffet, we were eating lunch by the pizza place when two employees with white button down shirts started to reprimand a female waitress employee in front of guests. The two male employees kept going back and forth lecturing the girl who looked like she was going to break out in tears at any moment in front of dozens of guests. It was utterly unprofessional, I’ve never seen anything like it before on vacation. We dined often in the Da Vinci dining room when we did not have a late excursion. The Da Vinci dining room requires pants, a nice shirt, and if jeans are worn they cannot have holes. The second night a gentlemen came in with jeans torn up and down and an Affliction t-shirt on like he was attending a night club. But I guess since his female companion was in a dress they allowed them to dine in Da Vinci. Another night we noticed the couple in their 20’s occupying table 471 in Da Vinci were in lounge clothes. The male had sneakers, basketball socks pulled up to his knees, basketball shorts on and a t-shirt. It was so shocking I couldn’t even remember what the female was wearing. Why have dining room attire standards if you aren’t going to hold guests accountable. Movies under the stars were a huge disappointment. This was the ONLY reason we decided to give Princess a try as friends and family had bragged about watching movies in the loungers with blankets, cookies and milk, and popcorn. There were no cookies and milk provided. There was popcorn made but it was not handed out, it was placed in bags in a basket next to the bar. Had I have not gone to the bar for a beverage I would have never known about it. The popcorn was barely edible as it was old and stale. Movies being played at prime times on the big screen by Calypso Pool were for children and families. Does Princess even take into consideration the age of those booked in their staterooms? Families possibly totaled 5% of the entire ship on this sailing, why weren’t adult movies that were on the demand stateroom system played on the big screen. Extremely disappointed. During the two days at sea that the four of us spent by the Neptune pool there were ZERO waiters/waitresses walking around to order a drink from. We had to continually go to the bar for service. At least the third day at sea we sat at Calypso pool and there was service there. When entering the elevator area from the stairs on deck 9 and making a left to hit up or down on that elevator, the buttons do not work. Then, the fact that the far two elevators are on separate operating systems where you have to hit the up or down button on both is ridiculous. The elevator that takes you to deck 16 by the pool bar was broken the entire cruise. The sliding doors by the Neptune pool were in and out of service the whole cruise. Public area restroom by the casino had a sink out of order. I felt like I was on a low-budget cruise line like Carnival but with an older, less-rowdy crowd. This was the first cruise in 14 years of cruising (my parents have been cruising 34 years) that we did not attend an evening show. There were several times we went by to see if it would peak our interest but each time after reading the description and other guests talking about it we were not interested. Our last cruise on the Celebrity Equinox we attended 8 shows on a 10 night cruise and all were excellent. While the ship was in port, the air conditioning throughout the ship in public areas was turned off. It was horrible when returning to the ship expecting to cool off and it is just as hot walking around the ship public areas as outdoors. I understand trying to save money but this was ridiculous. Princess should be embarrassed by all the corners they cut and embarrassed by the outside appearance of the ship. There was so much rust we noticed when walking alongside the ship when in port. There was also rust on the tile by the hot tubs, around the balconies, it seems that every ship we saw in port that was not ours look brand new compared to the condition of the Crown. So many other guests were pointing out how nice the Celebrity, Viking, Disney and Princess ship next to us looked when in port. I have never experienced a ship that was rocking so out of control. It took my husband and I a week after returning home for the feeling that we were moving to end. The two days at sea returning the ship rocking was out of control. The stabilizers either need to be updated, maintenance performed, be replaced or something else done. Nowhere is the ships location within the Caribbean displayed on the ship so we could not understand why the ship was going so fast and putting guest’s health safety at risk. I have cruised a dozen times and never had this issue before. When doing laundry on ninth deck had issues with the coins. When we called customer service via the phone button labeled as such which routed to a guests personal room. The pool activities were canceled for the entire second day at sea. There should be a backup for entertainment when the ship is rocking too much for scheduled activities. There was not even music being played on the speakers. You have hundreds of people by the pool for entertainment, and no entertainment. I guess when the cruise gets past the halfway point Princess has told their stateroom attendants to only provide clean towels and linens to save money because neither D514 nor D518 received toilet paper or tissues napkins in stateroom. The last night of the cruise, we had to search for assistance to get some. There are usually refills supplied in the rooms. Every single port we visited we were late arriving and leaving the port early. Why are we paying so much money for these stops to be cut short. There were times when we were 30-45 minutes late getting off the ship (first wave) and we were told we had to be back at the ship 30-45 minutes prior to the ship departing. Completely ludicrous. Princess website: “We selected only the most reputable companies available to provide your excursions. The companies providing your excursions are selected by Princess based on their excellent reputation for service and safety.” The tender process at Princess Cay seemed as though a brand new cruise line, with brand new employees were implementing a brand new system by how terrible the process went. With no exaggeration it took us an hour from getting off the elevator to get to Princess Cay. Then our trip was cut short as we were told we had to be back on the ship at 4:15PM when the ship was not leaving until 5:00PM. So two hours of our day was wasted. Then when we got off the tender there was no one directing us on where we could go, whether one side or the other was open, what amenities were provided, it was unreal. At the cookout lunch they ran out of food and didn’t care that guests were still coming by to eat. The bars closed hours before departure and guests were stuck without beverages. It was a horrible first stop. In St Lucia we purchased two tickets for SLU-320B for $69.95 each to participate in the volcanic island experience and mud bath. This by far out of numerous cruises over 14 years has been the worst excursion I have ever booked and we book an excursion at every port. In the description it says the scenic drive goes through two traditional fishing villages. This tour does not as it ends up at some point where the drivers buddy can try to get money from guests in their little shops that overlook from afar these villages. Description on Princess website states we descend into Soufriere which is deceiving since we really wanted to stop and see the black sand beach of Soufriere and we got nowhere close to it. Princess says the mineral baths are oozing with mud which was a lie as we applied mud from a 5 gallon bucket. Website says we will stop briefly at Marigot Bay and we stopped a mile from it at an overlook in which I can provide my photographs to prove such. Nowhere in the notes or medical restrictions does it mention the aggressive and terribly long drive it is for this excursion. We were in a vehicle for 4 hours making “hair pin turns” every 50 yards with 40 mph in between. This tour was the first time in 36 years on the earth that we have ever gotten carsick. After the first stop I had to ride in the front. My husband had to take anti-nausea medication. Another guest on the same bus had the driver pull over to vomit. Had we of known that we would be in the vehicle for 4 hours of a 5 hour tour we would have never considered it. We stopped by the excursion desk to receive a refund and of course, no one was there on every occasion. In Barbados we purchased two tickets for BGI-820A for $64.95 to snorkel with turtles and enjoy the beach. This was a good excursion, Barbados was beautiful. However, Princess claims that the companies providing these excursions are selected for their safety reputation which was not the case on this excursion. The Captain of the boat allowed a guest to drive the boat who had no boating experience. The Captain then left the helm and went downstairs. The guest sitting in the Captain’s chair started freaking out as the boat veered out to sea. I promptly grabbed the wheel and steered it back towards land and the Captain came back up after she realized the boat was going astray. The Captain also admitted that she did not know how to dock the boat after I asked what slip she was pulling into. She pulled the boat alongside another tour boat and the ropes were tied together to unload passengers. We had to climb onto another boat in order to then climb onto the dock to depart. In Antiqua we purchased two tickets for ANU-880A for $74.95 each to kayak, observe Bird Island, snorkel, visit the beach and hike. The excursion was listed as 4.5 hours in which it lasted over 5 hours and we were late getting back to the port. Kayaking was listed as 45 minutes and nowhere does it state on Princess website that the kayak portion is guided. The guide took us about 100 yards through the water, not the mangroves, looked for sea creatures to show guests, didn’t find anything and had us return. Kayaking did not even last 30 minutes and a portion of that was wasted while the guide assisted unsuitable guests back in their kayaking after falling out. Guide didn’t even take us by the mangroves until the last 50 feet when returning. If Princess lists this excursion as strenuous and suitable for the most active passengers in excellent physical condition then why is the excursion desk allowing people to book this tour to those clearly obese and elderly. Princess states that the companies providing the tour have an excellent reputation for safety, well I had to say something to the driver of the boat because it was a very small boat of maybe 22 feet filled to capacity with guests and he drove the overloaded boat into large waves that were not safe. This is coming from two people who own a boat, have attended the United States Coast Guard boating safety course and have obtained a boating license. The guide then turned the boat around, and decided that 50 yards away was the spot to snorkel. It was so unsafe that I didn’t even get out of the boat. The waves were so intense that guests were being pushed against the boat. Then the boat transporting the other passengers was tied to the same buoy. As guests were getting off one of the boats came untied and started drifting into snorkeling guests. They couldn’t start the engine and create further risks and continued to jeopardize the safety of guests. Also, on the ticket for the excursion it stated that water shoes were required, not recommended as it states on Princess’ website. So when we pulled into port we had to go purchase water shoes to prevent being turned away from the tour. When we arrived no one had water shoes and our money was wasted. Princess should refund us not only for the tour but also the water shoes that we did not need as we have a pair back home. When we received the final bill it stated that we could not receive any money back after we left the ship. So we went to shore excursion desk again to complain about our deceitful excursions again and no one was there to provide assistance. Customer service stated that it is not something that they can address and has to be handled by shore excursions representative. We paid for this cruise and received less. Last cruise was also a 10 day cruise, we paid less than the Crown, and we received the drink package, free Wi-Fi, pre-paid gratuities and room credit. For us to pay $3868 for the cruise and $789 for excursion for the gigantic list of issues we encountered, we should receive a refund of some sort. It is sad to say that there were only three good things to say about the Crown Princess. The food was good, the beds were nice, and our Da Vinci dining staff were excellent. Jeanette the junior waitress, Francis the assistant waiter, Stanford the waiter, Puja the hostess, and Rui the head waiter were all amazing. Francis went above and beyond and always had our ice tea waiting for us without having to order right after we were seated. Stanford had a great sense of humor always helping us pronounce entrees correctly and made great recommendations. The service at Da Vinci was the only good thing we looked forward to each day. This was my 5th and probably final cruise on Princess. I chose it entirely for the ports (especially Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba). The ship was a huge disappointment though. From the moment you walk in you can tell the staff aren't very friendly and don't seem to like being there. Nobody smiles and hardly anyone says good morning or afternoon. Not one person called me by my name, not even our Cabin Steward after 10 days with him. Service in the restaurants was also horrible. One waitress in the buffet area gave me a stern lecture because I ordered a lemonade from two servers by mistake and she told me it was a long walk to the kitchen to get lemonade so next time I should just wait and not ask anyone else and waste her time. When we asked our waiter in the restaurant to bring us fresh rolls because ours were stale, he said "no problem" and just slid the half-used basket from the next table on to ours!! The food itself was also awful with stale bread and baked products and tasteless, weird menu and buffet items.I normally enjoy the casino, but on the Crown Princess, the dealers are so cold and unfriendly they made playing there a very unpleasant experience. Overall, I would strongly recommend you consider booking on another Princess ship, or maybe another cruise line. Princess is going way downhill for sure. At least the cabins were reasonably priced. After doing research for 6 months, my best friend and I decided this was the trip we would celebrate our 50th birthdays and 38 years of friendship! What a nightmare! Our balcony didn't have air conditioning for 2 days! The maintenance man came to our room 5 times in those 2 days with a stinky attitude! Finally after complaining to the customer service staff, they send another tech who replaced the entire a/c unit and did so with a smile. The room was old, carpets were stained, the towels had black stains in them, the mattress killed my back. Old school furniture, the only thing we enjoyed was the big screen TV! The customer experience manager was a joke!! He gave an excuse for everything, he said the staff on board were not changed out, they didnt know the layout of the ship, they were overworked and tired. I'm sorry, I work in an industry where customer service is everything and if I provided poor service like we were provided, my customers would go elsewhere! The CE manager comp'd our specialty restaurant, Sabatini's and promised to follow up with us, he never did! We go for dinner at Sabatini's and the Matre'd gave us the most discriminating look, he walked us half way to our table and pushed us on the waiter, meantime, he walked everyone else to their tables and put their napkins on their laps. The food at Sabatini's was blah, the food in the main dining rooms was disgusting! I finally told the waiter just bring me bread! The food served in the buffet was better than the food in the dining room. Dinner at the Crown Grill was good, however, they charge $10 for a rubbery lobster! The casino assistant manager was a rude jerk! While playing the slots you scan your medallion and accrue points, how am I supposed to know the medallion times out while in a bonus round. This guy comes over and talked down to me, says "oh its a known issue, don't you know?" I got upset and cussed him out and said I DONT WORK HERE, I DONT KNOW! The activities on board were horrible, the live shows were horrendous! There was a disco show, yes disco is dead, but they really killed it. The voice at sea was good, probably the best thing to do as everything else sucked! You heard the Cruise Director, but never really saw her. I knew after reading reviews that Princess caters to the older crowd, and we were okay with that, but holy smokes!! There was also a group celebrating Pride, but these guys were too much! I chose deck 14 to enjoy the pool on that deck and these guys were doing some unspeakable activities in that pool. Needless to say, i wasnt getting in and contracting whatever was in that water! This was my first cruise with Princess and we won't be back! So disappointed to wait 10 months and 2 weeks for what we thought would be the vacation of all vacations! We paid a lot for this trip to make memories for a lifetime, unfortunately the memories were not good. The day we disembarked we received surveys regarding our trip, it took me 2 hours to complete it and wrote a letter to the President of Princess Cruises, I have not heard from anyone regarding our experience. I initially chose this cruise because of its itinerary. Unfortunately though the stops are very appealing, be sure to check the amount of time spent in each port; I found that some of the best ports only had a five hour dock. Also, this ship never disembarked on time along with the fact the majority of its guests are 70+ years of age and have assistive devices (even longer wait times and disembarkation times). Ship itself is average- nothing fancy, nothing extravagant. We spent the first 3 nights of our stay in a HOT cabin due to "AC issues". The dining for us was a huge disappointment. This ship happens have the smallest buffet area I have ever seen that served leftovers from previous days. The food is bland and lacks presentation. It would appear as though we're being served slop. My son and I had to rely on the Salty dog and Slice pizza to enjoy any meal. The ship was filled with individuals that have gotten free rooms (because they gamble in the casino) so they come across as ungrateful/bored/miserable people. My son hated this trip and told me he refuses to cruise again. I was robbed in Bonaire during an excursion. When I got back on the ship after spending my time in the police department filing a report, I needed to contact my bank. USAA was called for me however they needed to verify me with a text message or email. The ship refused to give me internet access for the moment to verify my account NOR did they ask me if we were alright! I was told we could purchase internet for the day rate of $20. At this point I felt Princess didn't deserve any more of my money so we stopped at a Starbucks on the next island. I will cruise with others again, but Princess is a HUGE disappointment. Read Less

This is my 7th Cruise, 2nd time with Princess who I did rate my favourite. However, not anymore. This cruise has been my worst experience ever. Very embarrassing when we have brought our friends with us and it’s there first cruise! The food in the main restaurant Bottecelli is absolutely disgusting. The presentation is the lowest I’ve ever seen. There seems to be a selection of 2-3 soups on the starter menu every night. This is a choice out of 5-6 starter choices so this leaves you with practically no choice. My friend ordered the chicken pie it was presented in a pot on a plate, no veg nothing just pastry over what you can only describe as a bowl of soup! There is a steward operating the pool bar on 16th deck by the smoking area who refused us straws for our cocktails said it was management/company policy that straws were only allowed with blended drinks! Very rude argumentative Asian guy. The ports apart from St Thomas have been very poor. We docked in Dominica and expected some nice shops but instead we had a run down shanty town with nothing to do and this was our longest stop. Today in Grenada it’s a Sunday and all is closed up. We have sailed with Princess a number of times, but had a very bad experience two years ago. We decided to give them another chance as the itinerary appealed to us. We won’t travel with them again, and our fellow passengers that we spoke with also felt very let down. Their cost cutting attempts affect all parts of the overall experience from having nothing to stir your coffee with, to reducing time in key ports at the last minute - just speed up and stop trying to save money on the fuel!!! Princess’ biggest issue is the fact they never accept responsibility for their actions, they lie, offer up pathetic excuses and blame the passengers. The reason it took 2 hours to disembark at Newport - because we all decided to get off the ship at the same time!!! The reason we had such a ridiculously long queue at Boston - that’s right, our fault for wanting to make the most of our short time there! We paid over £3k each for a mini suite but it took 36 hours and 3 phone calls to get our shower fixed. 24 hours to get water delivered that we had already paid for prior to the cruise. Vegetarians are not catered for (unless you want to live on salad), food labelling is dangerously bad and food is always cold. I’ve never seen food temperatures taken. General staff like room stewards are as nice as ever, but everyone else in what may be considered a more senior position are rude, unhelpful and critical of their guests referring to them as ‘idiots’. The entertainment is worse than 1960’s Butlins, but then the cruise director and ents team behave like that’s where they all came from. My advice - Celebrity or Royal Caribbean will value you much much more and understand the importance of good customer service. Read Less

All regular dinning venues had through the ship had the menu, but we were offered ONE additional appetizer & entree per night. Could not believe that when ever the ship was docked all dinning venues are closed with the exception of the buffet We did not take a large suite to go to the buffet I will say the food & service were fine We were only able to get seats to one show in 13 nights by cutting dinner short, everyone was complaining. The theater is too small Tendering was a joke, people were going crazy trying to get off We were supposed to spend a whole day in Quebec City, but one night received a notice that the water authority issued an order that everyone must go slower so we wouldn't arrive until 12PM. They must have gotten several hundred complaints as two days later the authority miraculously changed its mind so we could speed up and arrive at our 9AM scheduled time. The food is very low quality. The steak knifes couldn't even cut the steak. The food selections were unappetizing. Dinner in the dining room took 2 hours very night and we would have to leave before dsssert to see the show. The waiters were working very hard but there were not enough waiters They had to many tables to cover. If you ordered a drink, you never got it before the food arrived. There was no music around the ship. There use to be music in the lounges for cocktail time. The port tendering was a joke. Waiting 1 1/2 hours to get to shore. You never knew where the gangway was to get off. Then you had to walk half a mile to get off. What happened to the on and off gangways?? The entertainment was good. BUT the most spectacular show broke down in the middle and we didn't see the whole thing. Said they would show it the next day but didn't. We got off the ship to take the hop on-hop off bus to find out that it was being charged to our ship. Which means we paid $40 more than just getting on the bus ourselves. The tour we wanted from the ship was filled before getting on the ship. Most everything that we enjoyed from cruising has changed. Now it is just move the people along. Once in board, we saw little evidence of this. The ship is very OLD AND TIRED. Dining on board was not good. We ate in the main dining with a 7:30 seating. We had a large group of 14 and had thought we could all sit together. This was not the case. We were sitting by each other, but at 2 separate tables. The head server would “suggest” his picks for dinners, which he would add that the picks were not good. We had 2 formal nights. Having read the required attire we do not remember the mention of NO shorts for men. The first formal night 2 men of our group had nice linen shorts. We had the exchange of words with the head guy and finally sat. The 2nd formal night one of our group only had shorts with him, he was not permitted to enter for dinner. The cabins were small although clean. Our group ended up sitting in the back of the boat on the sea day. We never did see anyone to serve drinks The boat itself had a lack of bathrooms. The one women’s bathroom by the main dining room only had one of the toilets working and that was only for 1/2 of the cruise. Other then that, the bathrooms were not marked well and very hard to located We saw one show up in the Skylounge. It was horrible. We all were very disappointed. One in our group checked his bill the night before we disembarked. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the whole cruise and was told the employees were at the end of their contract and was just plain tired and this was why the service was poor. Seems to me that this shouldn’t be the paying customers problem and if this was the case the cruise should have been at a deeply discounted price All in all, I was 100% disappointed and as stated before will never cruise with Princess again, along with the 13 others who were with me Read Less

Ocean Compass and Ocean Now required us to sign in repetitively, and frequently told us we had disembarked, were not onboard... we were seated by the main pool on Deck 15. IT staff onboard could not resolve the issue..we were finally told it was the make of our phone....and that upper management knew. They knew and did not inform passengers pre-cruise. Very poor. Entertainment mediocre at best. Food fair unless you wanted to go to non-fare included restaraunts. Anytime dining means 7:30-9:30 PM . Oppressive smell of sewage emanating from the Spa on Deck 16. Do not recommend snorkeling excursion at St. John's...passengers poorly monitored for safety. We have been on several cruise lines, including Disney. This was the worse cruise we have ever taken. This was the first time and the last time we will ever cruise with Princess. We were on the Caribbean Princess. Our toilet wreaked of urine and the sink water as well!! The balcony furniture was broken. The staff refused to replace the broken furniture. We found a shopping list to a girls mom from 2018 under one bed because I pulled a mattress out from the wall looking for a remote. It had a ton of trash and candy under that bed. The bathroom shower had lots of cracks in it and the floor grout has darkened from probably water and algae (grime). We slept pretty well because of the nonstop vibration and rocking of the ship! Thankfully I don’t get seasick! They showed a movie twice on the “movie under the stars”! All of the movies they showed had been out for months! I gifted this cruise to my dad and my best friend. My dad had never been on a cruise. I’m disappointed that this is his memory of what a cruise is supposed to be like. We’re going to Hawaii next!!! ON A CARNIVAL CRUISE SHIP!! Yes I know carnival owns Princess but they operate so very differently. Also, the Bahamian waters were cold! The water animals refused to show up!! People were just really disappointed! Yes I know they can’t warm the waters or call in the sea turtles. But it put a damper on everyone’s moods. This ship needs an overhaul on the interior badly!! The waitstaff has zero personality! I was told that Princess was on par with Celebrity which Ive been on Equinox twice, and traveling with friends, this seemed to work out best for their needs with 2 teenages. I will say, when we arrived at port, this was the quickest we ever boarded, and I thought this was going to be a great cruise... boy was I wrong! Our cabin was warm at best, with the thermostat as low as it could go. Our friends had one cabin down the corridor and you could feel the temperature drop 10 degrees half way to their cabin. Their cabin was nice and comfortable unlike ours. I shut the drapes and kept the balcony door closed to try to cool things down but to no avail. My friends aaid to say something. So we went to the customer service desk where they ssid they would check it out. The room steward kept asking if they came but I I never saw anyone or get any reply or notification. I called front desk to see if I could get some Ice as the refrigerator was warm. I was told it was more of a bottle chiller and not a fridge. I asked for Ice and they said to call the room steward, his number is on the desk. I told them it wasn't but he insisted it was. I told him the room steward said he was going to bring the card later when I had asked for ice, but neither had arrived. The front desk reluctantly stated they would send up some ice as I had medication to keep cold. Half an hour later still nothing, so I went to get some ice. The room steward sees me with the ice bucket and comes to grab it from me and says he will get it for me. Next day still hot, complained again, was told they came to room at it was within operational parameters. Thats when If I didn't know Princess was owned by Carninval, I would have known with that useless generic answer. But it gets better. I complain again, switch my cabin, my friends have air and I need some, the heat can trigger some bad headaches, but they have no other cabins. The person at the desk says she will try to find a fan! It made it only slightly less unbearable. Princess Cay. They turn off the water at 2pm and if you want to prevent heat stroke or dehydration, buy a bottle at the bar! Unbelievable! Back on board. We have not been able to enjoy the view or balcony as we are living in a cave. Drapes closed. Afraid to open the door to the balcony and let the heat in. Went and complained again, this time I asked what do I need to do to get off the ship in St Thomas and fly home and get a full refund! The man at customer service says He doesn't know but will find out. Next day I have hotel manager, the customer service manager who found us a fan, an officer from engineering I think and the guy from maintenance all in our cabin, suddenly they are able to drop the thermostat a couple of degrees! Meanwhile, it must be 90 in the elevators, it felt like 95 in the lobby to the elevators, and it was so humid in the elevator I asked another passenger if he was enjoying the portable sauna. Later in the cruise, the art show auctioneer said they have been working on the ac all week and it was the first time he held an auction in a sauna, yet everyone says the ac is working properly. It was getting hot all over the place. Took 4 days to find a server at dinner that served appropriately! Women first, then the teenagers, then the men. Went to specialty restaurant for more upscale dining, service lousy, no tablecloth, served men first, women last, never checked on things, when he said eggplant when placing a dish in front of my highly allergic wife, we all said wait, she's allergic to eggplant, and he says i never said eggplant, yet 4 people heard him say it as clear as day, and not once did he ask how everything was or if we would like more bread, and when the desert was suppose to have a frozen center yet 4 out of 6 of the deserts had a warm melted mess inside. It was just horrible. Thankfully we reserved the section with the waiter we found for the restbof the cruise except the last night when they refused to take the reservation. The other servers and the rest of the staff all seemed like we were interrupting them, bothering them, or when they asked if we wanted anything, it was as if they were angry when we said yes! There were very few examples of good service, the ice cream was ice milk and horrible, the ice cream in the dining room tasted like they took the ice milk from up too, mixed in some flavoring, then refroze it. Don't ask about the shows, as we never got to see one. It was probably because the kitchen was so slow to send out food that it was a good two and a half hours for us to have dinner. One day it was full and too hot to stand, the next show had the doors closed and a sign said full, the one day we got in early and made it to the theater, they had the doors closed and they said they had some technical difficulties but were doing a sound check and would let us in shortly. Well we stood for half an hour, then they let us in, then we sat for another 20 minutes before the lights went down and the cruise director comes out and says they had some technical difficulties with the stage, blamed it on the waves yet it was the smoothest sailing Ive ever been on, and says that the technical staff has been working on it but said there was no way to fix it and due to safety, they were replacing it with a last minute replacement by one of their performers and brings out the lounge singer to do a tribute to Stevie Wonder... banging on the keys something awful, it was horrendous. It would have been proper to inform us of the switch before we waited almost an hour for something put together in 45 minutes. We went to see the drag Queen show in the nightclub, those are usually funny and raunchy and a good time, this was just bad. He went to do a quick change and was on the second verse singing off to the side and struggling to get changed even with help. I asked slmebody which pool was open, he said none, eventually I found the one that was open. The entire cruise director staff seemed unorganized and even rude at times. The cruise director wasnt even sociable, it seemed like nobody really could care less. That waitor we found was surprised and in disbelief when we told him he was the only decent service we found on the ship, he almost cried. The food was jot very good everywhere we went, pizza was wait and get so so pizza, took forever to get items replaced when they ran out in the buffet, the hot stuff was cold, the cold stuff was luke warm, and the couldnt even cook the eggs correctly, and the guy running the omlets was too busy foing too many things and talking to coworkers to do things properly, took my pager and then went on to fo other things while I stood waiting, then wanted to know why I was standing there, and then When I said he needed my food, and gabe him the number from the pager, he handed it to me like I was a bother, yet he just forgot to give it to me, but he also couldnt be bothered to apologize at all. And if you do not cash out your bank at the casino, it doesnt go back on your account, you would lose it, so make sure you cash out your casino bank. After 11pm, nothing available except a small cafe with limited pre-made items and coffee for a fee, no activities except the nightclub. Tried to go to the stargazing, sorry, we dont have enough equipment, maybe next time. Next time not in a heated dungeon with horrible staff from the dark ages... people on the ship who have taken Princess before have said it was not like this before, but I dont think I will ever do another Princess cruise again. I guess taking my money to keep the princess in her jewels is all they do! I cant see why anyone would take a Princess cruise based on this experience. Read Less

We chose because, although this would be my first cruise. the other three people had previous good experiences with Princess. However, all four of us will NEVER sail with Princess again. From booking on there were problems. We were misled on the use of on board credits; our free premium drink package was not honored until we proved it was legit; food was lukewarm on the buffets while the plates were scalding hot. One real danger to passengers: Princess is very misinformed about passport use. They claimed passports did not need to be carried with you off the ship, and were totally ignorant of when a passport needs to be stamped at entry. Almost got us arrested following their advice. Luckily, quite by accident, we met a Spanish immigration official in Barcelona who gave us the real information. But the real problem was with shore excursions. Be forewarned, Princess will not come to your aid if something goes wrong. Our tour guide went rogue. During the "kidnapping", I tried to call Princess. No phone numbers worked. Their offices were not open. When I finally got someone and gave all the info, including the location,tour number, my name, and all contact info, they hung up and failed to call back. Then for the next five days, they attempted to bury the incident. They never investigated. I forced their hand, and had meetings with all levels of management, including the captain, who took no responsibility and claimed that Princess would never cover up any incident. BTW, after this horrendous experience, I could not leave the ship due to panic attacks until we got to the end of the cruise. I was a prisoner in a billion dollar jail. All Princess staff claimed that no cover up was going on. They never investigated, even 30+ days later and never tried ANYTHING to help. They endangered my life and the lives of 40 other passengers, and showed nothing but neglect and indifference. Keep in mind that Princess Cruises was just fined $20 million dollars for covering up dumping waste in the Caribbean over a five year probationary period by falsifying records and lying during inspections. So the bottom line is: Princess just wants to cash in, and anything else can be bought off, even the health and safety of its passengers. Read Less

This cruise fit into my schedule, also I liked the itinerary. Most of the port I have never been to or its been many years since I visited them. I was especially looking forward to Bilbao Spain and Portland England. I reserved an oceanview view unobstructed view guarantee. @ days before departure, I was told my cabin number. They gave me an obstructed view room. When I called Princess, they assured me that it would be changed for me when I check in at the ship. When I checked in I was told to see guest services on the ship. They told me that all they cabins were full, If someone doesn't show up, they will let me know tomorrow and make the change. Twice, guest services gave me excuses, no one cared that I didn't get what I asked and paid for. I finally was able to speak with the Hotel Manager. Dana was very nice, she explained to me that the ship was overbooked by more than 10 cabins. She said she would ask corporate what they would do for me. A couple days later, someone left a phone message in my cabin, they offered me a $200 on board credit for my next cruise- I was insulted! $200 was the additional amount that I paid for the unobstructed view, but no refund, just an onboard credit for my next cruise. If they wouldn't "do me right" why would I cruise with them again? The cabin was nice, except for the lifeboat that I was forced to look at outside the window, it would be nice to have a chair in the cabin as I like to sit and read often. The cabin attendant was excellent! The dining and buffet staff were also very good. The food was lacking a variety of choices, also the small portions didn't have a good flavor. I was underwhelmed by the food! I like to sit by the pool and read, however the loud music and loud movies took away that pleasure. The public rooms were usually noisy from the activities just outside of the rooms. The public rooms had out of date décor and furnishings, too much mirror and glitz. Most were not functional for events- good only for drinking with friends, but they still events there all the time. I like that the ship was not huge, I prefer smaller ships, less lines especially when getting on the off the ship at the ports. Overall, I doubt that I will return to Princess, the impression I was left with was that they did care much about me, this was my first cruise with them, they cared about those who have been many times. I have been on over 50 cruises and have generally enjoyed most of them. This is the only time I have ever written a review after a cruise. I was so unhappy. I am taking cruises with other lines in July and August, lets see what happens. Read Less

(Just cruised eastern half) Planned this cruise to celebrate my husband's retirement. Thought it would be a spectacular start. This was our fourth cruise, fourth cruise line. Never had a complaint before. Can't believe how horrible this was. The good: Embarkation was incredibly smooth. Went early to escape the crowds waiting at the hotel. Figured we'd rather wait in a long line at terminal and were surprised to walk right on ship shortly after 11am. Our room steward was the perfect mix. Had everything in order without being intrusive. The other good is the medallion system. Once you figure it out it's awesome. All their training seems to have gone into this. Need to work on service now. Had anytime dining. No table for two first night so sat with others which we enjoyed. Surprised to see many men in shorts. Next night (not formal) my husband decided to wear dress shorts and button down shirt. We accidentally ended up walking near the set time dining room. The host dressed in a white suit came rushing at my husband demanding to know if we intended to eat there. I said no, we were looking for the anytime. He made a spectacle of us and announced loudly that he wouldn't be allowed to eat there either dressed like that. Everyone in line staring gaped mouth at this. Three days into retirement and an arrogant ignoramus is yelling at him. He changed to dress pants and we rode the elevator down with a couple men heading to dinner in their dress shorts. I did let them know my husband had just been yelled at for this. And laughed and tried to let it go. Not being a meat eater the dinners were quite disappointing. I don't know how they turn fish into a dry leathery substance...even the everyday favorite salmon is incredibly dry. The trout was spectacular one night, probably because I asked if it could be made without the seafood stuffing so they made me a special one, which I greatly appreciated. I had read the complaints about how lengthy dinner service was. We enjoy leisurely dinners so I thought that was overblown. The time it took between each course was ridiculous. Complaints are spot on. Probably why there is never enough seating as well. Booked the enclave for the week because I have back issues and the heated stone loungers are a godsend. Usually. They have many of them. None work as they should...lukewarm at best so no point. Asked at desk if she could up the temperature. Said she would. Never happened. I improvised and laid down on a double seat in a heated room to get the heat in my back. This worked well for a couple days. They lost their heat as well. A couple days in...no heat. The voice of the ocean finale they handed out remotes to vote for your favorite. Had to trade it for your medallion. The way out of the princess theater was a nightmare...I had come out the far door from desk. People all around getting their medallions back. Mine had a novel attachment unlike any other so I put the remote down and picked mine up. Unable to name here (the girl at desk) literally screamed at me "don't touch them!!" She took it back then looked at the remote for the number and yes, it was mine so gave it back to me. I just walked away in shock...having not been yelled at since I was twelve. Then went back to get her name so I could complain to passenger services, who basically said "well you should have waited in line so it's your fault but yeah I'll let them know". I understand they put this single crew member in a terrible situation with everyone exiting the theater at the same time coming from different doors. But no passenger should be screamed at. A polite " I'm sorry no one can handle these but me" would suffice. Totally unacceptable behavior from her and passenger services who should have just apologized for the behavior. Need to come up with a more fluid system with the remotes so crew unequipped for handling pressure don't crumble. Pub lunch at wheelhouse was the best fish on the boat. In the ship fact sheet it states lunch is offered daily. It was offered once. The last full day so a ridiculous long wait to get in. The same host, who yelled at my husband previously, seating everyone with lots of attitude. I don't think princess understands they are in the service industry. So severely lacking. The cruise started with my husband being yelled and and ended with me being yelled at. As if that wasn't enough, the final insult...we purchased the transfer to airport. Went to the dining room assigned for disembarkation,asked if there was paper I needed for transfer. He said no, just follow the group. It will be clear. Was easy getting out of terminal. Followed to blue sign saying princess transfers to right with rep also saying transfers to the right....which everyone was led to a lineup of taxis taking our bags and putting them in cars. (No princess rep in between) Drove to airport and then driver demanded payment. I needed a voucher for transfer which princess never gave us. Are you kidding me?? Ended up paying him. What else was there to do. Finally made it home and all I want to do is cry. Thankful that we at least met some lovely passengers along the way. Read Less

Wow what a disappointment! I read the reviews before booking and dismissed the negative ones thinking they were exaggerating. They weren’t. This was the worst cruise of the five I’ve taken. Biggest disappointment was the customer service and appearance of the ship in general. I finally figured out why the staff doesn’t seem to care: there’s a mandatory daily gratuity charged per person so they have no incentive to treat you like “royalty”. $13.50 per person per day - I don’t remember being told about this. So staff is being tipped regardless of service and it shows. This cruise was severely understaffed. The wait at the bar for a simple Diet Coke was maddening. Not one time at the pool did a waiter come around asking for drink orders. Always always had to go get it myself at the bar. Didn’t even have soda in the buffet, had to leave to go to the bar to fill my cup. I bought the soda pass which meant I had to carry around that big cup all the time to have it refilled. I was “upgraded” without being asked to an oceanview. The view was of a lifeboat. It’s laughable. I would rather have kept my interior stateroom. Buffet was unremarkable at best - never once thought wow this is delicious. It was just food. Tables were always dirty - again understaffed and couldn’t keep up with all the people eating there. Tried the dining room once and again not impressed. I really expected this cruise to be like the ones in the past where I just felt pampered and everyone was nice and friendly and happy. Not this crew. I felt like I was imposing more often than not. Our safe in the room quit working after a few days. We just laughed and thought well of course it doesn’t work. They claim this ship was refurbished. What the hell did it look like BEFORE?? It’s so dated that I felt like I’d been had. Harry Potter trivia was an event we attended - it was like a twelve year old’s mom threw together some questions and had us all sit around guessing the answers on paper and boom it was over. Twenty questions and that’s it. Pencil and paper. I mean come ON Princess. It was just pitiful. I heard other people talking and the same thing was being said. Not as good as other cruise lines. I will never again sail with Princess and will go back to Royal Caribbean where they know how to treat their customers and keep the ship clean and the food amazing. Princess is substandard and even smelled of raw sewage towards the end of the cruise. I was glad when it was over actually which is a sad testimony given the money spent. Read Less

Crew is not friendly at all, food was terrible. Very little entertainment, unless all you want to do is play bingo. Was my first and last cruise on Princess. They charge you for everything. The sanctuary, which is called the serenity deck on carnival. You have to pay to use the sanctuary on princess, $80 for a day. I think this was ridiculous. The entertainment was non existent. We had 2 comedians on a 10 day cruise. The dining was terrible. We paid $58 for the crab shack. I figured we would get enough food to be full. I got about 3 ounces of actual crab meat. After dinner my wife and I were looking for more food. The overall experience was terrible. I have been on 6 other cruises. Luckily I have has very good experiences on the previous cruises. Princess could have ruined my cruise experience if I didn't have any thing else to compare it to. If you like to sit in your cabin and watch TV all day, this is the cruise for you. If you like to be busy and have fun, don't use Princess !!! Read Less
