Ship is beautiful. Still had that "new car" smell. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. The cabin was clean. Love the new colors and the new curtains to the balcony. FOOD - they need to have more Vegetarian / Vegan options. When I did place a special order (before breakfast for dinner - in the dining room - Anytime dining) - when I went to diner, they did not have a record of my order. The head waiter (Andrea) was very helpful and worked with the chefs to make my meal. The food in the buffet was always cold. It is open like on the Regal & Royal, so it's not as chaotic. However, even though there are 2 sides to the buffet, they don't always have the same food on each side. So you either miss out on some things, or your food gets even colder walking around to see everything. Sugar is now in dispensers (regular & raw). Splenda, Sweet & Low, and Equal are still in the little packets. Straws are a hot commodity. You are no longer given one with your drinks. You have to ask for them. So, if you like using a straw, ask for it when you order your drink. If you forget, then the waiter has to go back to the bar and get one for you. They are also not happy about that either. On the SKY, the bar at the International Cafe has been replaced with Belinis. They still HAVE the coffee "bar", but the bar in the lounge area has changed. If you would like to order a juice from the bar in the International Cafe, you have to ask a wait staff person and they will have to make it for you. ENTERTAINMENT: Saw Five Skies show. It was AMAZING!! Loved it! We missed the Rock Opera. I did not know that the production shows were only performed 1 day (2 showings). So, if you missed it, you are out of luck. HINT: Get to the theatre a MINIMUM of 1 hour before the show to get a good seat. The seats in the theatre no longer have the side table that comes out of the arm of the chair. So, if you have a drink, you will have to hold it. PRINCESS CAYS - it's different. Rearranged a lot of things. No longer have local vendors. Only ones selling Princess stuff at prices you would see on the ship. A baseball cap with Princess on it (on Princess Cays) was over $30. There is now a LONG que line area in order to get back on the tenders. It also has water misters to cool you off. HINT: the tenders leave every 15 minutes regardless of how many people are on it when it has to leave. If there are only 2 people on it, they leave. ST THOMAS - we took a taxi into town. I wanted to buy some jewelry. The sales people were WAY BEYOND pushy. I gave up on the jewelry. Did go to E's Garden Tea house. Great hidden gem. If you like tea (hot or cold) you will love this place. We spent over an hour there. Bought 3 different kinds of loose leaf tea. I did do some shopping in Havensight after. The ship was in port until 10pm, so we went to the ship for a late lunch, then back out when it was darker to see the Christmas lights. The sales people in Havensight are not as pushy. I did find a ring. The sales people were not pushy and I was able to browse peacefully. ST MAARTEN - there was a protest on the French side, so all excursions were cancelled on that side. There were also 5 ships in port. One of them was Harmony of the Seas (over 6,000 passengers). MSC, which I heard holds around 5,000 passengers was also there. It was quite crowded on the Dutch side. Again the sales people are pushy! I did manage to find a woman selling hand made jewelry at great prices! She was very nice. It was out of the way of all the pushy stores. Very calm and quiet. OVERALL: The ship is beautiful. The beds are VERY comfortable. Food needs work. Even the quality of the food has gone down hill. The crew is overworked. They have fewer crew members, so each member has twice as much work to do. Service is not what it used to be. Cabin stewards used to have 10 cabins to clean. They each now 18 cabins. There are only 2 waitstaff per table in the dining rooms and they have 5+ tables to handle. If each table has 8 people, that's 40+ people that they have to take care of. 1 person does the drinks & change of plates & silverware. The other takes the orders and delivers the food. This was our 12th Princess cruise. Read Less

One of the newest ship from Princess cruise. Little disappointment about the food. There're great food for almost every ship of princess, but this one is really bad. Ship are new, beds are very comfortable . Room is small for 3 people. Our waiter from dining room is good, most of the food are cold, really bad compare to other Princess Cruise. Buffet breakfast harsh brown use to be one of my favorite, this ship make very very bad harsh brown, I have never eat a chewy harsh brown. Also, the scramble egg has very strange textures, like eating flour more than egg taste. Coffee machine broke down most of the days. They use a electric pot to heat up some coffee but it's always empty. Ask the manager what happened and he asked me back if I know how much it cost to fix the machine and he's asking someone to do it! Should I know how much it cost them? I guess not. Also, they start cheap to their casino customers, you have to ask for a manager approval to get a drink everytime. I sail at Royal Caribbean, they just put a sticker on my card & I could get drink whenever I want. At princess casino, I just need a bottle of water still need to approve by manager. This is the first time I sail back to back. Let see if the second week gets better! Read Less

As expected, Sky Princess is a beautiful new ship that Princess' customers will love. A few tweaks would make it even better. Not sure about the Medallion technology though. Embarkation was very good, if not as easy for us as it is for US customers, who get their medallions in advance. (Transfer tip: we got an Uber from Miami to Port Everglades, for about $40). Leaving the ship and finding our Miami transfer was seamless. Although we were on our own, the Christmas week was very much a family cruise and had a great atmosphere. the week before was significantly quieter, with half-empty bars most evenings. Our 'obstructed view' cabin had a lifeboat outside the balcony but didn't spoil the view. We used it like any other balcony cabin we've had before. But which muppet put the toilet roll holder on the opposite side of the bathroom underneath the sink?! The Lido deck is excellent with plenty of room for loungers, although I think one of the two roughly-equal-sized pools should be a Family pool, and one an over 18's pool. We discovered the Retreat pool a little too late - get out early if you want to find a lounger. We were disappointed that Movies under the Stars only had one evening showing at 7.45pm, so you can only watch the film if you eat early. We used to go to the late showing at 10pm on other Princess ships, but that wasn't an option here. Also, this being a 95% American cruise, NFL games were prominent - one day had 3, morning, noon, and night (can't imagine P&O getting away with showing 3 Premier League football matches, can you?) The Slice pizzeria on the Lido deck was superb, yet surprisingly quiet, while the Salty Dog burger bar was also good, with queues around the corner. The Horizon buffet is excellent. The Wake View pool at the back of deck 16 was very small and also smokers' corner, so we didn't use it. Inside, the beautiful atrium is the place to be as ever. On Deck 5, are Vines and Bellini's bars, International cafe and gelato shop. (Credit to Princess for using recyclable take-away coffee cups, lids and paper straws across all bars) The house band Static were excellent and unbelievably energetic, keeping people dancing in the Piazza every night, to the extent that DJ Mateo was redundant in the Vista lounge - Princess should not have scheduled him to be on at the same time. Deck 6 has the (very small) art gallery, dozens of photo selection screens, and small-but-packed casino (busiest place in evenings), and also the uninhabitably-cold Take Five jazz bar. If you're allergic to seafood don't go on Deck 7, the smell of which is dominated by the Ocean Terrace seafood bar, overpowering the (excellent) Alfredo's pizzeria. Brave choice, but unlike us, lots of people like their shrimps. Stretching back from the atrium on deck 7 is the Ocean Front helpdesk where you will (need to) get help with the Medallion App, the Princess Live! lounge with great evening gameshows with the entertainment team, the Crown Grill & Lounge, and the Vista Lounge, which I thought was very plainly decorated for what it is supposed to be used for. The theatre on 6 & 7 holds a lot of people but is quite plain and functional. We're not ones for shows, but the bits we saw were on or above par. The cruise team was good, having only been together a couple of months, but they get an easy ride from Captain Michele Tuvo, who probably entertains more than any other individual (He's no shrinking violet!) We chose Anytime-Dining in the Estrella or Soleil dining rooms. Good food and service, if lacking a little choice of deserts (different type of cheesecake/souflee/profiterole/creme brulee every night, not much else). The simple pasta starters/mains were excellent. The Medallion & App The medallion concept is sold to us as a way of personalising our experience, but in reality is about making their operations more efficient and saving money/making more profit. Why else would they retro-fit thousands of sensors to older ships? The process of becoming ‘Ocean Ready’ when you fill the phone app with all your information, is really about doing all the admin for them. For UK customers it doesn’t help you board the ship as they don’t send the medallions to you in advance, as they do in the US. This wouldn’t be such a bad thing, but we found the app unbelievably slow. I wasted hours waiting for it to load pages and had to log in well over 100 times in two weeks. We only managed to order one drink in all that time, as it seemed unable to tell where we were. The Ocean Front helpers fobbed us off with excuses about updates and memory capacity. All told, I probably spent a full day of my holiday faffing with phones. The only way we really used the medallion was to open our stateroom door, which seems like an expensive solution to a problem nobody ever wanted solving. Each room now has a tablet outside to tell you it has seen you coming and unlocked your door, but it couldn’t ‘see’ the medallion if it was in my pocket and it certainly didn’t open the door any faster than the cards did (but it will have told the office when you were in/out of your room. And why is there a medallion sensor above the toilet?) We loved our cruise but the medallion did not enhance it in any way, and actually made it unnecessarily frustrating. Service in all of the bars (inside and on deck) was incredibly slow. Is this a consequence of them being busy fulfilling app orders and not having to go looking for business any more? It was always quicker to go and get drinks yourself. Read Less

I was disappointed with the Food on the Sky Princess, our table of 6 were served cold escargot and the Dining Room food was not the usual Princess Food. I ordered a Filet from the Crown Gill menu and it was black and tuff, our waiter said “can you eat it”. The names were fancy, but the food was not. There are no drink stations, you have to wait for a Server to bring you silverware and drinks at the Buffett. The Medallion App, needs a lot of work. No restaurants listed on it and you can not make reservations for Dinner. You have to get in line an get a Beeper and wait. The Princess Theater held less people than other Ships, No Balcony and the seats are even smaller than others. Our toilet stopped working, for this brand new Ship. There was not as much entertainment as usual. Read Less

The staff was good. We ate a couple of times in the World Fresh Market and for a buffet it is real good. Nice new design all these places. The only thing we has a small problem with was our room steward got ill and his replacement was no where as good as he was, also there was a communication problem with him. It was taken care of by the Hotel Manager after the 2nd day. We did get our room steward back and was the best. We did not like what the new design of the Sanctuary took out lounge chairs and a area that you could sit under away from sun and rain. They added more Cabana's and put in 1 Hot Tub. Entertainment & activities are real good, the entertainment various no-one is going to like it all. The mini suite is also updated and nice, the balcony is small not much room Read Less

Main food did not have a good selection so we ate at buffet the whole time Great getting on and off the boat was great. Very effective and time saving. The last stop waste of money! Drove 30 mile down the beach, turn around drove 30 miles the other way Stop at outlet for 45 minutes which was not enough time Complete waste of $50.00 per person. Also did not like the LGBQ theme on the boat. I would not recommend this cruise to anyone, family friends even my dog Read Less

The service in the dining room was excellent with good menu choices. Try the Curtis Stone pork belly, it’s wonderful! The food and service in the buffet were very sub par. The food was not up tp Princess’s usual standards and the service was extremely lacking. Most meals we had to get our own beverages. Very disappointing. The entertainment was very good. There were two dance bands, a Latin based band BA Quartet and a Jamaican band Project 5. Both were very talented but Project 5 tended to talk way too much especially with black patrons. It really just used up time others could have been dancing. The guest Entertainers were very good, especially comedian Bengt Washburn and singer Claude-Eric. This was our second time on the Caribbean Princess and will probably not cruise on it again. We prefer the Regal Princess but will try the Royal, Sky, or Majestic. Read Less

First of all my loyalty level with Princess is Elite so I have sailed with them numerous times. I just retuned from a Dec. 10 - Dec. 20, 2019 cruise on Caribbean Princess. We had a great time. We had two mini suites next door to each other. We loved eating in the main dining room and find it much better food than the buffet. The buffet setup encourages people to overeat. We ate at the Crown Grill and loved everything about it - superb service, delicious food, and wonderful ambiance. We visited countries close to the equator and they are hot and humid all year long. Luckily we did not encounter any rain except on Jamaica, our last port. Our room attendant was Christine, and she was amazing being helpful in every way. The ship was decorated for Christmas and the final night we participated in a sing-a-long in the atrium. Grand Turks - went on excursion, the Rainbow Calypso Tram where he drove us around the island. Highlight was seeing the donkeys near the lighthouse. In Cartagena, Columbia we went on the scenic drive of Cartagena and San Pedro Claver Church. Nice tour but as day progressed so did the heat and humidity - no one's fault but unbearable. Panama Canal partial transit very interesting and excellent speaker/commentary. The new locks are huge and interesting to see. Well planned and everyone was able to enjoy it that chose to participate. In Limon, Costa Rica we went on the excursion Limon Waterfront and Backstreet Canals. Loved this! We saw a beautiful island up close with its natural beauty and in the canals we saw several sloths. Go on the first tour of the day! In Montego Bay, Jamaica we went on the scenic drive which was a disappointment partially due to the rain. Montego Bay is a vision of poverty. Very sad to see the conditions in which the locals live. Resorts are beautiful but obviously provide to help to the island improving itself. This was not our first cruise on the Caribbean Princess nor will it be our last. Read Less

We selected this cruise because of the destination (i.e., new Panama Canal) and timing (Winter). We have crossed the old Panama Canal in the Coral Princess some time ago. Adding the new Canal excursion to cross to the Pacific (in the Caribbean Princess) in a boat was great! We got both new and old experiences of passage, fortuitously. We left Syracuse just as Winter snows were upon us! Despite the rain showers, the temperatures during the voyage were quite enjoyable in swim trunk attire. Prior to departing New York, I had pre-ordered the medallion accessories and uploaded our pics, boarding info and docs to activate OceanReady. This facilitated our embarkation (and disembarkation) immensely! The Caribbean Princess clearly showed improvements from having been rejuvenated in the docks last May (2019). Our balcony cabin reflected what we experienced on several cruises aboard the Caribbean in the past; our cabin attendant did a fantastic job caring for our bedding, ice, and flowers. The variety of dining with seafood and BBQ, in Planks and Steamer, has improved our dining experience. But we would still like to know how to specify a seating in Anytime Dining MDR on the first evening to be reserved every dinner at the opening (i.e, 5 pm); on the first night aboard. Our prime entertainment is Movie Under the Stars with many new movies we had not seen before. We did not experience many Princess Theater entertainments except a comedian. Still, service aboard the ship was excellent with exception to the selection of a table located in the MDR. Ports and Shore excursions were about what had been reported in the Princess online descriptions. We did not travel with our grand-child. Yes, we would go again in the future. But we have other destinations in mind in the Caribbean aboard Princess Cruises. Read Less

Chose this cruise to see Panama Canal. Had the opportunity to see some South American countries for the first time. Stops at ports were a great experience for the entire family. We will take Princess Cruise again in next two years. Shore excursions were set up in an orderly manner. Easy to get on and off ship unlike Carnival that is a free for all. Free movies to watch plus we watched the news daily. Rooms extremely clean; buffet was excellent; staff service was top notch on entire ship. Checking in luggage and getting to our room was very fast. Only complaint was baggage handlers tore the hell out of one of our check off bags getting off ship. We will carry our own bags on and off ship from now on. Loved the dedicated daily night dancing on 18th deck. Great dj playing music on daily basis. The comic Bengt was worse comedian I had ever heard. He needs to get a new career. The second comedian Scott Weyler was very funny. Read Less

Reason for cruise was bucket list destination of the Panama Canal - Princess choice based on value with solid reputation for good food and entertainment which we have experienced on prior Princess Cruises, which did not disappoint on this one; however have noted a decline in food quality, type and variety in buffet since previous cruises with them - Elite status for this cruise. Was older ship that needs updating in bathrooms and particularly the shower (compared to previous cruise on Celebrity with nicer room and restroom / shower). Compared to very same previous cruise, Princess much better in main show and average entertainment and cruise director. Very efficient embarkation was a nice surprise in Fort Lauderdale with Princess ground personnel and medallion - the port location itself has allot to be desired - old dilapidated and congested airport and cruise port - not Princess fault; also very mismanaged departure back to airport if using independent shuttle service that we acquired through hotel to port and upon return to airport, with disorganized and horrible waits and wait areas - also not cruise line’s fault; in fact for same price would recommend using cruise line transfers or taxi to airport. Different cruise lines have their various plus and minuses compared to others I have sailed - this one overall good experience and a great time. Read Less

We had our vacation ruined by loud chair shuffling, carts slamming and doors opening all night long every night. Other than that, the cruise was good, the food and the service were top notch. The itinerary was great too however Grand Turks was kind of a letdown, we took a coast to coast island tour but unfortunately there’s not much to see other than some random donkeys here and there. We ended up at a abandoned lighthouse were we were charged additional money to see it. In Columbia, we took a hop on hop off which was great but the locals shoving items for sale in your face was too much. Our group was harassed like I’ve never before. My husband and I wanted to see the Panama Canal. Overall the trip was satisfactory. The staff were wonderful. My only objection was that some of the ports were not much to visit unless you were going on a tour. We found that many of the tours were too expensive. The best port was Cartagena, Columbia. It had a small park with exotic birds and a free shuttle. I wanted to go on this cruise because my birthday was December 18th. Our steward Edgar was so kind and competent. He changed our room ( picture window) to a better configuration so we could both get out on each side of the bed. My husband is allergic to msg as well as a number of other things so the staff in the Main Dining room were very accommodating and watched over him including Kieron who was the head waiter. They had him order the night before so they could make sure there were no food additives. The problem was generally the sauces or anything that was a preordered item. We really enjoyed the cruise but encountered a problem when my husband fell in front of the dining room due to the motion of the ship. The medical staff were great though and my husband is now all right. Read Less

First, let me start by saying that my wife and I have more than 15 cruises with Princess under our belts. Royal is simply the biggest of the ships we have sailed on with Princess. While I will always recommend Princess Cruises to someone, my future trip planned for next year on this vessel, we are cancelling. Let me start with the creepiest thing about Royal and the Ocean Medallion experience....they put sensors in your cabin bathroom. Ocean Medallion tracks your every move about the ship and allows them to data mine your activites. But do they really need to know how many times I use the bathroom in my cabin? Creepy. The Piazza. Originally a nice idea. Small shops, little restaurants, like an italian piazza. On Royal its just another Entertainment venue. The performers and activities blasted so loud over the entire area you simply cannot enjoy any venue. Its a big space...and the audio system has the watts to fill it. Having a conversation with that nice couple you just met in the wine bar? Forget it. Run into a crew member covering tables in two venues at the same time who, remembers you from a previous cruise and want to catch up on their lives while sipping a martini in Crooners? Lol....nope. Pools. Royal has also traded the traditional two exterior pool design for one, oddly smaller pool and a more congested pool area. Also used as an entertainment venue. Quiet day lounging by the pool? Not on Royal. Perhaps in the Sanctuary, a reservations required venue. Elevators. Royal carries about 20% +/- more passengers, with only about 4% more crew and the same number of elevators as other ships. Wait, wait, wait. If you require a walker, or any other mobility device, good luck with that and these elevators. The primary specialty restaurants, Sabatini's and Crown Grill were excellent as always. The buffet, confusingly laid out but, with good selection, was a slight improvement over other ships. In some ways Princess has found a way, with Royal, to cross-over with their sister line, Carnival...the "party ships" and in many respects Royal is just a big Carnival ship but with better food and no towel animals on your bed in the evenings. Getting a drink on Royal literally mandates the use of the Ocean Medallion fob and phone app. The venues are short wait staff for the passenger load. (The corporate money making feature of Ocean Medallion, safe to say) So, best way to get a quick drink is to order one on the phone app. Delivery times averaged 7 minutes for the items we ordered. Fundamentally everything about Royal runs contrary to why many people cruise Princess. Adult atmosphere, decency, quiet and privacy. Royal is like a trip to the mall on Black Friday. If you like that kind of thing, than for you this ship is five +++ stars. We however, will pass. Read Less

This was out third cruise on Princess. We were previously on this ship once and her sister ship, the Royal Princess, once as well. After our previous journeys, our expectations were very high for this latest trip and, unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and very quick. We had a mini suite which was very nice and a bit more roomy than the typical veranda cabin. The cabin service was good. The disappointment was in the food and the entertainment. The food was a bit less than average and while the quality was not bad, it was the preparation and variety that left lots to be desired. There were a couple of nights where we actually couldn't find something on the dinner menu to choose. One of the things we loved about our previous Princess cruises was the Pastry Shop. Unfortunately, on this trip most of the pastries were dry and the assortment was bland. The buffet was about what we expected. When we cruise, we look forward to the nightly entertainment. The shows in the main theater are less important than the entertainment in the smaller venues and, on this ship, in the Piazza area. The only way I can describe the entertainment is that it lacked energy. The shows in the theater were ok, although the talent level wasn't what I hoped for. With regard to the other venues, with only one or two exceptions, the talent was almost amateurish and boring. As I said earlier, perhaps our expectations were too high. Our last cruise was on Holland America, the Nieuw Statendam, and the entertainment was stellar. Very professional talent, day after day. We were sad when the cruise ended. On this Princess cruise, there was one night when a large group of crew members put on what they called a Rock Show and it was excellent. But again, that was one night, one performance. Needless to say, we will likely think twice before choosing another Princess Cruise, unless our research shows that they have done some upgrades to their food and entertainment areas. Read Less

Wife is a Vegan and thought the food selection was poor compared to the 40 plus other cruises she has sailed. I found the food selection fine but the taste just average. The Italian specialty restaurant was excellent for me but not for my wife as there were no vegan opportunities. They did try hard to prepare a pasta dish for her and she found it to be OK. Buffet service above average. On board entertainment really lacking. Comedian was great but other shows just OK. We did not do any excursions. Princess Cay was a major disappointment and should not even be considered a port. 40 acres of sand and a few shops. Will never do a cruise again that spends half its time at sea (3 of 6 days). St. Thomas and St. Maarten great if you are shopping for jewelry otherwise no big deal except quite beautiful. Suite level priority embarkation and disembarkation was a joke. There were no special lines or preferences that were apparent especially disembarkation where we fought for elevator space like everyone else in spite of the Concierge assuring us we would get priority. The food was mediocre at best and some of the staff were condescending. However, the ship was really nice and our steward was amazing. We stayed in a suite, and the beds were really comfortable. The room was bigger than I would have expected too. I think some of the staff were on edge from working too much and it showed in their response to us. When we asked where to find something, they would say over there and point. I quickly figured out that was a way to get rid of us. I spent some time looking for stuff because the staff lead me in the wrong direction. There is a communications barrier if you speak English. Many of the staff do not have a great English vocabulary. Which is fine, I just didn't realize that would be an issue. The internet is WAY over priced and not work the money. I thought the alcohol was priced fair. We went on a snorkel excursion in St. Thomas. Save your money. No fish or turtles to be found. Big waste of money. Read Less

this cruise was a late booking to fit in a week before some time in Florida for these snowbirds. Bed was not as comfortable as Princess advertises. Cruise Director Dan Falconer from the UK was excellent, very witty, cute jokes every day, great job hosting Marriage Game had 3 sea days, so lots of activities Lots of movies under the stars and NFL, movies were shown next day in your stateroom Food was acceptable, but lacked variety in some dinner menus 2 formal nights were excellent, with surf turf, like steak and shrimp or lobster tail on last night, excellent french onion soup and escargots on these nights, why not every night, like Celebrity and Royal? all Princeses ships have the poor dining room design with the kitchens between dining rooms, requiring one to go up down floors. Also Horizon buffet design needs some work, very hard to find what you want, should use more islands instead of all the laneways between the main flow buffet food was good Princess pizza is the thin crust, new entries each day and the best at sea soft serve ice cream, Celebrity has real ice cream scooped. Some shows should use Vista lounge instead of much smaller Princess live Princess main theatres like on this ship are quite small compared to others, often no balcony. So to see shows you must arrive around 30 min prior. Lots of seat savers unfortunately. No drink holders in theatre. 3 production shows Sweet soul music, Born to Dance and Bravo. Bravo was outstanding with super singing. Dancers were awesome in born to dance. Excellent stage orchestra that played in atrium a few times, don't miss it, rock and roll and world mixed music. Comedian Robbie Printz did 2 shows, really funny. Beatlemaniacs were excellent, looked, sounded like Beatles, did a second show in the atrium ,don't miss it lots of other lounge singers/music. Michelle Joly, from Northern Alberta, was outstanding, interesting voice, has 4 of her own albums, she is going places The usual game shows. good movie selection Abba dance party Princess medallion, interesting but if you don't have a smart phone it will just open your door and be security in/out of ship. need to download 2 apps, they don't always work, but when they work, you can track locations, chat with another shipmate you add and view daily program, order drinks, play games and casino online. Did not see many people using it. A RFID device like Disney band, but smarter. A shame it can't be reprogrammed, new one every Princess cruise Internet, they say fastest at sea, not at all Royal is better Read Less

My husband and I went on our first cruise with our children aged 7 and 5 and with my parents. We chose this cruise based on my parents recommendation as they are platinum Princess cruise members so they have enjoyed many Princess cruises across the world. We chose the Eastern Caribbean cruise as we wanted to escape the winter cold. The check in and embarkation process was very easy and efficient. We stayed in a mini suite located mid ship on deck 14 (Riveria). The mini suite cabin is perfect for a family of 4 but I’d stay in one as a couple too as you get more space. My husband and I had a very comfortable double bed and the kids slept on bunk beds that were folded away during the day by the cabin steward and turned into a sofa. We had two TVs in our suite, a long table/desk and the bathroom had a shower/bath which was very suitable for us and our kids as they enjoyed the bath. There was plenty of food, beverage and dining options both casual and formal. We chose the anytime dining package as we preferred the flexibility to eat when and where we wanted. The Camp Discovery (kids club) was open everyday in the Morning till midday then reopened at 2pm to 5pm. At night the kids club was open from 7pm to 10pm but we also used the late night babysitting service till 11pm which is only $5 per child and you can extend the time till 1am if you need to. The kids club was excellent and had a fun daily program. The staff were kind, caring and professional. The kids club was well maintained, organised and clean. Our kids had so much fun which gave us time to enjoy plenty of the ships activities or just time to relax. The kids club will even look after your children during port days which is great if you want to explore or participate in more adventurous activities such as zip lining, snorkeling or jet skiing at the beach etc. The food was delicious and the customer service was outstanding. My Mum and I enjoyed the Afternoon high tea in Concertos on several days which was fantastic, highly recommend it! We also dined one night at a speciality restaurant (The Crown Grill) on one of our formal nights, the food and service was outstanding. We enjoyed Horizons buffet for breakfast and often at dinner time, plenty of variety and quality food to choose from, you certainly won’t go hungry! I do like a coffee so was happy to enjoy a latte or two at the International Cafe which is open 24/7. We liked the photography services on board as staff were able to capture several family and more formal couple photos which we ended up purchasing, wonderful memories to take home with us! There was plenty of activities to choose from and the activity and entertainment services was communicated well via a daily ‘Princess Patter’ newsletter delivered to your room or you could access cruise information via the Princess app. The disembarkation process was organised and ran smoothly including getting quick access to our luggage and taxi transfers to the airport. Feedback I’d suggest is that all mini suite cabins for families have a proper bolted child lock on the balcony sliding door just for added safety and protection. We watched our children at all times but the balcony has a small table and two chairs that a child could easily climb onto. The handle on the balcony door was hard to slide open but my 7 year ago had no trouble opening it. We just reinforced to our children that they do not go outside on the balcony without an adult and at night we pushed the coffee table in front of the balcony door, just for our own peace of mind. The only other feedback would be pack a sweater or jacket even if your traveling to a warmer location as I often found the dining and entertainment areas (theater, piazza, casino etc) to be quite cold, the air conditioner is set quite cool around the ship. It was a fun, relaxing and enjoyable 7 day cruise. The quality and standard on the Princess Regal was of a high level. We’d definitely go on another Princess cruise in the future as it was a wonderful first cruise experience for our family! Read Less

It was a present for my wife's 65th birthday and was going to the Virgin Islands, she had never been there. We wanted to experience the out Island beach time and the opportunities for the other beautiful beaches offered. We also thought the cruise down time would be restful: I had a deeptissue massage --- wonderful experience, but a little pricey. The service staff was international and seemed to try to engage with passengers where possible. The food lacked taste in the formal dining room, but was EXCELLENT in the "anytime dinig area". We didn't want to have to go to Miami so the Ft. Lauderdale option was acceptable, prefer Cape Canaveral, still feels like you're in the U.S.A. when you depart and return. People cruising for the most part were nice and polite with few exceptions, some passengers were very rude and attempted to exert their importance on other passengers. Seating in the main theatre was extremely tight, most cruisers were elderly and little consideration was given to their mobility needs. Seats were narrower than on aircraft (hard to believe, but true) making it difficult to sit, stand or let others pass. Read Less

The Crown Princess is a smaller than Caribbean Princess. It does make a difference like the lobby isn't as grand and the shops seem less. But after awhile it didn't seem to matter because the staff, food, things to do and the ports are what we came for. We choose anytime dining because it's more flexible. If you can't be accommodated, you're given a buzzer to take along so you're not standing doing nothing. I like there high tea (from 3-4 pm) because it's so fun and different! The entertainment is amazing - Princess Theater has many excellent performers. There's Movie Under the Stars, where you can watch on the deck and eat pop-corn, ice-cream. pizza and have a blanket to keep you warm. If you want to be entertained in the comfort of your room, there's a ton of shows you can choose for free - unlike some other cruise ships where they charge. I also appreciate that their activities aren't all about buying the next Diamond or some SPA miracle. There are people who go on a cruise simply to relax and have a good time. Service is excellent. The staff are really friendly and helpful. They make you feel so valued and pampered. The ports are a good selection. You can go on Princess shore excursions or venture on your own. It's quite safe as long as long as you go with the crowd and you are mindful of the time. We make sure we're back or near the ship an hour or so before Ship departure time. Princess is great for couples looking for excellent value for money. Read Less

We were expecting to see results of last year's refurbishment. We had a mini-suite, but, the beds were way too soft and lumpy, scuffs on furniture, dark stains in bathtub and on tile floor. Rust stains on balcony, varnish on balcony railing was worn off and chipped. One eyesore on the ship involved the elevator doors. They were a gold color and the paint was scratched and marred from suitcases probably banging against them. The appearance looked like the elevators could have been in a dive hotel. Food was pretty good in the main dining room but the cooks can't seem to cook fish dishes without overcooking them. We never had an issue with getting seated so that worked out well. We chose anytime dining. Wished we had the opportunity to use club dining but it wasn't available when we booked. Service from staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The shore excursions were ok for the most part. We mostly did snorkeling excursions, but in St. Thomas, we were taken to a dead reef, so that was a waste of money. Wish there was more honest detail on the type of transportation you get on a shore excursion. We took a 4wheel drive tour of Grenada, and the tour guide was delightful, but the open back KIA truck was very uncomfortable and there were 10 passengers cramped together on bench seats facing each other. It was still enlightening to have the guide explain plants and flowers we saw along the way, but the discomfort outweighed everything else. Not sure I would believe it anymore when they say a ship has been refurbished. Read Less

First of all I want to say that my husband and I are Elite on Princess and have been Elite for about seven years. We were also on Royal Princess for 49 days in February and March 2019. That being said, we were excited to sail on the brand new Sky Princess and were shocked and dismayed at the incredible decline in service and food quality in just nine months. Over the years each time we boarded for a new cruise, this feature or that was cheapened, vanished, or became an upcharge. I must admit also, this was the first cruise that we didn’t buy any future cruise certificates. Cabin - We had a forward mini suite on Deck 12. We were not offered our welcoming glass of champagne that all suite passengers are supposed to get on either the first seven days or the second seven days. Bars of soap are no longer available. The Elite toiletries bag was not provided. I asked for it and was told the gold bag was no longer available. No more hair conditioner, no more tubes of lotion. My room Stewart handed me a nail file, a linen freshener, a shower cap, and a tube of chapstick. He said they put it on a towel now. We had already been aboard for two days. It took two days to get our bathrobes and Elite cocktail guides. The lights behind the sofa were constantly not working. Maintenance got them both working for about two days, then back to only one light again. There are two TVs in a mini suite. If you are sitting on the sofa and attempt to turn on one TV, they both come on. To turn off the second TV you must take the remote to within one inch of the TV then you can turn it off without turning the other TV off. It was aggravating. Non skid bathtub mats were also no longer available. Food Sabatini’s- There is a new menu so we thought we would give it a try. Big mistake! The upcharge is now $25. We expected better than what the buffet served. First, menu descriptions do not match what you actually receive. The bread is the same as every other dining venue. The appetizer was not as described. We got some kind of pastry puff instead of the wheat loaf. The fried zucchini while tasty, was three McDonald’s French Fries size pieces with two strings of yellow squash. They came with a slice of very stale bread with a glob of cheese melted on it. Just plain nasty. Next came the pasta course. I got the trio. They came in small baking dishes. What I actually got was the exact same lasagna paste served in the buffet, what was called chicken parm but turned out to be cubed chicken, half of which was breaded in a tomato soup sauce with a few salad croutons, a leaf of spinach, and a sprinkle of cheese. The third pasta was a rigatoni with pasty Alfredo sauce and mushrooms. I choked down the Alfredo pasta and pushed the rest away. At this point I began to complain how awful it was. Next course was fried sole. The fish was very fishy and tasted very old to the point of being spoiled. Needless to say I pushed it away. Hubby had seafood linguine that had no linguine! What he got was thin spaghetti with two shrimp and two clams in olive oil. Next he ordered the veal. He got two paper thin slices with a leaf of spinach in between, covered in brown gravy and mushrooms. The veal and the spinach were the same size. At this point, we again said how awful the food was. We got up to walk out. We asked where to pay but we were not charged. We then ended up getting a hot dog. World Market Place - Is the Horizon court with a new name and worse food and service. Food is a matter of taste so I will speak to quality and preparation. All over the ship passengers were talking about how horrible the food was. I got mashed potatoes with with hard cubes of nearly raw potatoes. I later saw mashed potatoes nearly brown from reheating so many times. Cheap cuts of beef brisket were served nearly every day. All food looked warmed over and most vegetables were previously frozen. Before our first seven days, the ship ran out of lettuce. We saw lots of people eating salads. Soups were mainly broth based with not much of anything in them. I noticed one woman who got rice in the buffet and vegetables and broth in the bistro. The day after formal night the buffet had a lobster dish with the tails cut into 3-4 pieces shells and all covered in a red sauce. Looked nasty to me. Food on the buffet was never hot. By the time you got to your seat it was tepid at best. Horizon Bistro - We got many meals here. You can make your own sandwiches, salads, tacos, or nachos. It was always crowded. Layout of the taco bar is backwards and you have to move back and forth to get meat and vegetables on your tortillas but it was edible. International Cafe - sandwiches and salads were edible. We ate breakfast there most every day. The panini press is gone but a new type of oven replaced it. It seemed to do a good job without ruining anything. Salads are now served in jars, about 2/3 cup per jar. Condiments are gone. You have to ask for ketchup to be put on your plate. At the coffee bar, sugar packets and coffee stirrers are gone. The biggest complaint is the muffins would be served no matter how stale and hard they were. If you really paid attention you could avoid this by remembering the muffin assortment from previous days. Salty Dog Grill - Real hit or miss. Real American cheese on cheese burgers was replaced with American Singles in plastic. It was hot on the deck and the grill cooks has issues getting the plastic off the fake cheese and the fake cheese stuck to their gloves. No cheeseburgers for us. The tacos at the grill were disgusting. Prefilled tacos were reheated on the grill. Soggy where the filling was and hard elsewhere. One bite and they went into the trash. Grilled chicken sandwiches were very thin. You really needed to order two and take the filling out of one of them, to get close to what we used to get. Hot dogs were just placed on the grill now. They were edible. French Fries were edible if you got them fresh cooked. Slice Pizza- The Lido deck pizza was very greasy. Lots of people were eating it. Not sure how they did it. Alfredo’s Pizza - We ate multiple meals here. The food was hot. Menu descriptions did not always match what you were served but, everything that was served was all right. MDR - we never ate there. We also heard the food was poor from other passengers. Entertainment - We went to one magic show that was just OK. We attended two movies in the Vista Lounge and two MUTS. There were lots of football games for football fans. Embark/ Debark- we were held up in the cruise terminal for about 2.5 hours because VIPs were aboard having a naming ceremony. Debark was a breeze. Internet - worked great when it worked. It frequently went out and took in room movies with it. Ocean Medallion- Personally, I don’t like carrying around a tracking device. It opened my stateroom door and recorded my transactions just like my key card used to do. I don’t see any value added to using it. Read Less
