Beverage package a joke. You paid for unlimited sodas, juices etc. And 15 alcohol drinks and they only give you one at a time! Couldn't even get 2 to take to your room! Had to keep walking back. Much to their surprise if you did use all 15, then they could have sold more to you! Felt like a teenager being watched. Get up early for an excursion to meet in theater just for them to make a big announcement it was cancelled! We could have slept longer. Need better system to notify guests! The hot tubs were not hot. Our stewardess was wonderful and very attentive to what we needed. The process of getting on the ship was smooth. Leaving was easy, but we were anxious to leave! Advice if you want to visit an island, book an all inclusive resort and explore at your own pace. Having "MAMA" ship control your much needed time off for a working person not relaxing at all. We choose this for the Panama Canal. It was fine. The two shore excursions were good. We especially like the Discovery, Meet the sloths tour. The room steward was great, best part of the cruise. The trivia was good. The Embarking and Disembarking was good. The rest of the experience left something to be desired. The food tasted like it should be served in a nursing home. No flavor. The best food was the burger place on deck. The pizza was good. The soft serve ice cream became the best dessert. The ship was dated. The shower was tiny. The front desk was less than helpful. Activities on board were limited. The theater was too small, another show should have been added. The lack of access from the 9th floor to the main dining rooms was annoying. We have completed 27 cruises. This was one of the worse if not the worst. Will not travel with Princess again. We like Celebrity must better. Read Less

Took Caribbean Princess on Jan 2, 2018 Panama Canal Cruise. 5th cruise on Princess, 9th overall. Everything as expected except condition of ship. Expected better as ship was 8 million revitalization in 2017. Excessive engine vibration noticeable throughout ship. Never felt a ship vibrate so much before. Very bad in Palm dining room. Was informed ship due for dry dock in April 2019 to fix. If they had a proper condition assessment program vibration problem might have been known at time of 2017 revitalization. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SHIP TO ANYONE BEFORE VIBRATION PROBLEM FIXED. Also seems to impact power available for air conditioning at times. Guests who paid $4,000 for canine could not sleep because of vibration and lack of air conditioning in room. Were told that they should have spent more on a better cabin if they expected to be moved. Another cabin was flooded and were reimbursed for destroyed clothing and offered free cleaning. Hallway nearby (on port side of deck 8, wet for almost entire trip, squishy sound when you walked through. It smelled moldy for a couple of days There were faint sewerage smells in our cabin, hallway and in one of the elevators. Not all the time, but enough to notice, and we weren't the only ones with problem. Were told to call when it occurred and had to wait over half hour for someone to come. Elevator with smell was eventually shut down. Iced tea undrinkable and coffee dispensers and ice machines out of service. There was a band aid on smoke detector in room holding it together? Rug on steps to Princess Theater fairly new but not at right height, lower than rest of step (two height levels in each step, front part higher than carpet) seem easy to trip on if not careful. Should not have been allowed unsafe. Similar issue in other areas, rugs lower than surfaces they abut to. Read Less

First of all, let me say Regal Princess is a beautiful ship. We chose this cruise based on recommendations from friends who had cruised on Princess multiple times and loved it. Unfortunately, this was not the case for us. We were instructed by Princess our boarding time was 2pm, yet when we arrived at 145p, terminal staff scolded us for arriving so late. Really? We were traveling with another couple and requested our mini-suites be next to each other. We were not able to select our rooms, and were given rooms on opposite sides of the ship. Our room was under the skywalk, making it impossible to enjoy our balcony or even have our drapes open any time of day, as people would wave to us. The noises day and night was ridiculous! Our room steward was pleasant and personable. We left cash tips for him times a day, in addition to the gratuity charged to our room. Yet, the last morning he stopped by our room and stood and stood, as if asking for more $$$. Food was disappoointing, at best. Morning buffet was mediocre. Crowne Grille..had to send steak back 3 time to get it RARE. Came medium well other times. Rest of our party waited, and ended up eating cold food. We also were late for the Show that evening due to slow service. We didn't stay for dessert. Crab Shack was pathetic! Crawfish were DRY!!! Don't waste your money. Sabatinis....pork was pure FAT and not edible. Veal was tough. We canceled our next nights reservation there, yet were charged since we had made and paid for the reservation pre-cruise. Word of advice....Don't pre-order special dining options. You won't be refunded when your plans change due to poor service and terrible food on a previous night Allegro.... our waiter, was rarely around and less than happy to be there. Service was slow and food was very salty. Communication on the ship was terrible. Staff didn;t know things they should when asked at Guest Relations and would send us running around the ship to find it on our own and being sent to various locations. MedallionNet needs tweeking. Difficult to use. May be better with internet, but was not willing to try. Productions shows were very good. Very talented singers and dancers. Crystal Starr needs to find another profession...... Comedian was very funny! I don't like to write bad reviews, but this 8 day cruise was a total disappointment. We had such high hopes. Read Less

I have been on many other cruise lines, but wanted to give Princess a try because of their "higher class reputation". The customer service was awful! We would acknowledge staff with "good morning","hi" etc., and rarely heard any comments back. We would just get an awkward stare back. Hardly saw any staff smiling or speaking with passengers. Ordering drinks from the bar was a horrid experience I felt like we were putting them out with the disgusted looks we would get. Again, I have been other cruise lines and none have compared to the bitterness we saw with the staff on Princess. We felt like we were needing to be congenial to them. One positive thing with the cruise was their food. The two formal nights we were served with high quality food. The chefs do an outstanding job. Management really needs to dig deep and find out why their employees dislike their jobs. You are going to continue losing business because of the lack of positive customer service. I suggest traveling on another cruise line to see what customer service should be like. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I loved the itinerary, but wish we would have chosen other staterooms on a different deck. Overall the ship needs overhauled. Quite disappointed in the photography....same 2 backgrounds offered for the first three nights of the cruise. One of those was a white background and it was offered another 2 nights. How many photos with a white background do people need/want?!? The entertainment was ok, the best part was trivia with Hammertime. Trivia with Yris was lame for those not from Mexico -- really all her trivias had bonus questions for Mexicans. There was not as much offered as I would have expected on such a long cruise. NYE was something I was looking forward to on the ship, and I was disappointed. I went to the deck party, but instead of the Princess band hyping us up for the New Year, they played slower songs. Certainly not the hopping party I expected. There were too many children with not enough to do, the playing around in the elevators and running up and down the halls was disruptive and impacted our enjoyment. Do not take your children on a cruise of this length with so few port days without planning something for them to do, Princess will not do it for you. For notes on my cabin, please see that section. It alone has me questioning any future cruises with Princess. Read Less

This was my second cruise with Princess. Both times I was on the conferences, so it was partly paid, but this one did not worse time I invested. First of, ship is very boring. Literally nothing going on aboard. If you want to get to the theater, you have to take you sit at least an hour before the show start. Their medalion program is absolute failure - my medallion stopped to open door for the last 2 days of the cruse (fortunately, my wife medallion still worked). The best medallion feature is that you can find your partner on the ship, but there is trick involved. If you used particular wall devise once, it will always show you location of your partner as you saw it the first time. Always! So, to get true actual location you have to find new previously unused device. Errors and trials took me some time to figure that out. Feature, not bug. Our ship was always late on every destination. As result we were waiting for the ship 1.5 hours in the bus returning from one excursion - only to wait for another 1.5 hours in the bus next day to go to next (both provided by the Princess). Since were were late again, excursion was postponed and due to series of miscommunication (Princess was responsible) we were waiting for hours in the bus. The best pert of the cruise suppose to be Cayman island. But we were LATE and all the boats provided by the Cayman port of authority to land were busy to serve ships which come earlier (Carnival and Royal Caribean were fast enough). Our captain did not want to use ourown boats to land, so he moves as fast as he could to the open seas directly to the North. Not only were deprived of Cayman Island experience - in 2 hours were were northern enough near Cuba with ~70 F outside temperature and cold wind, so that no one could be outside. Could we at least stay near Cayman Island where it was warm and sunny? Oh well, list of complains will be too long. Summary: very boring and mismanaged cruise, I want my money back. Read Less

The worst customer service and horrible manners. The room was not clean, the staff was rude, the activities were very little and same thing everyday. They do not care about their customers returning. They were very racist and only helped their own kind. I do not recommend anybody to travel with Princess. The excursions, all they cared about was taking pictures and selling the pictures. They rushed through my experience and made us go in the water with unsafe conditions just to be able to take a couple pictures. This trip was a disaster the food was good but that is it. They had the worst service at the restaurant. If you did not want to purchase anything extra from them, they were giving attitude and taking extra long to get your food. The room service messed up on my order twice. The directors of the cruise were very rude. All the staff were very unhappy with their job and ruined my entire experience. This was my first cruise ever and I will not be back to Princess. Read Less

We have only been on a total of 6 cruises (Princess twice, Royal Caribbean twice and Celebrity twice) so we are by no means expert cruisers, but the issues we had with our most recent Princess Cruise will prevent us from EVER cruising with Princess ever again...never! There were so many bad customer service issues I really don't know where to start, so best I start right from the beginning: 1. We are Canadian and our booking was from a Canadian email advertisement priced in Canadian dollar. We book directly with Princess and received a random agent. We received our booking confirmation with all the details including our flights. A few days later (wanting to upgrade and book our seats) I contacted the flight carrier only to find out that our flight confirmation number does not match. We contact Theresa and leave her a message once in the morning and again in the afternoon to no avail so the next day I call her again, this time instead of leaving her another message I press zero to get another agent...guess what...they won't speak with me. As soon as you provide the requested booking #, they said I have to speak with Theresa and puts me back to her voice mail...wow turns out Theresa was sick for 3 days and during that time I am stuck with no assistance! Not sure why the flight reference numbers didn't match but eventually I get the proper number and I book my seats but not after wasting about 2 hours with the various agents, Theresa, Delta, and WestJet…and it was Delta that got me the proper reference number for my WestJet flight from Toronto to Fort Lauderdale…what a waste of time! 2. A week later I receive another email from Princess advertising the Beverage Package but when I went to purchase it, I find out that it was quoted in US dollar...why? They know I am in Canada...everything else up until then was quoted in Canadian dollar...again frustrating but I buy the beverage package for us. 3. I learned that if I pre purchase the Internet Package online prior to the cruise I received a 20 min bonus per 100 min package. So I purchased a 200 min package and get a total of 240 min (40 min bonus). However, when I got on the ship, my Princess App did not show I had a package. After wasting time with the Purser’s office I learn that they provided a credit on my account and I have to waste time to re-buy the closest package I pre-purchased online and then waste more time tracking down the "Data Communication Manager" to ask him to add my bonus minutes...really! What a waste of time yet again! 4. Turns out that the internet was more frustrating than it was worth so by day 3 and 6 minutes of use trying to log into my office emails, I complain. The response from the purser's office..."ok then cancel" to which I said ok please cancel...he says, I have to contact the Data Communications Manager...lol So while I am upset an Officer named Oggie appears. After hearing my story he says he'll take care of the cancellation and committed to calling me to confirm the cancellation. It was late at the time and knowing we were staying up i asked if he could not call us before 10 am the next morning to which he agreed...guess what, at 9 am the phone rings, its the Data Communications Manager and he says, "I understand you want to speak to me". The guy didn’t have any idea and so I have to explain my situation all over again…I was upset but i stayed calm and asked if I could cancel, he says ok but get this…instead of crediting me back the full amount paid, he charged me for the 6 minutes I used...lol OMG really!!! 5. While on the ship, we had to go to the purser's office another 5 times to correct billing errors. We both had a Beverage Package, how is to possible that they charged us for water twice, a beer once and a glass of wine once...5 times on 4 errors because we had to go twice for the beer charge. Once at Princess Cay Island, twice at the buffet restaurant and once even at our dining room. I don't get it. And each time, we had to wait in line and had to speak with a rep who took forever to figure it out...good lord we had a beverage package, how difficult is it to rectify...and why the mistakes to begin with! On one of these occasion, after waiting the rep looks up from her computer and says "WHAT"...not how can i help you etc...she actually said WHAT. My wife almost lost it! 6. Our last evening, I call the front desk to request a wake up call for 6 am…done. Turns out that we were out a little later than expected so I called the front desk to change my wake call time from 6 am to 6:40 am…figured we’ll get a little more sleep but for fear they will make a mistake I decide to cancel my 6 am wake up call 1st…so I did, asked for it to be canceled. After confirming it was canceled I requested a new wake up call for 6:40 am…sounds simple, nope. The phone rings at 6 am, begrudgingly I get up by myself and run upstairs for a quick bite…I come back and now my wife is upset as they called her at 6:40…they left both wake up calls…I just don’t get it. We don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot but this was the worst service we have every experienced. Thank the good lord we went with another couple and met some great people on board. Our room steward was great and most of the staff were fantastic but the food was not nearly as good any of our other cruises. We will never cruise with Princess ever again...I hope this was helpful :) Read Less

Where to start? First I made arrangements due to dietary requirements as I have gluten intolerance. Get on board and there was no gluten free food except gluten free pizza that was sometimes not bad. Sometimes it was awful. The dining room lectured me about ordering my food the day before even though I had just boarded the ship and gave me very limited options and advised if I did not order the day before they would not have food. The buffet had nothing but really bad gluten free desserts. Princess Cay, besides being a waste of time, had no gluten free food except for fruit. The staff on the Royal Princess was extremely rude. I was scolded every time I asked for gluten free food event though I let them know at the time of booking. i complained about cigarette smoke on our balcony and was lectured by the ships guest relations that I should have known the ships amenities and it was my fault for selecting a room above a smoking area. Over with a few exceptions the ship staff was rude and condescending. It was a long week of putting up with being scolded. Went to the buffet a few minutes before they opened. Food was out and other were helping themselves. My wife had her food yanked out of her had and was yelled at for taking it. Asked for a supervisor who was extremely rude. He then proceeded to grab and squeeze both of us by the shoulder when we asked for his supervisor. There is never an excuse to touch your customers. Now on to the spa. We were celebrating out 15 year anniversary and I decided to schedule a massage for my wife. never did I expect that the massage would leave her in tears and pain. Fist they follow you around the spa and do not give you any privacy. Than she had a awkward massage with no music playing and and the massage was mediocre at best. She let the therapist know she had plantar fasciitis. at the end of the massage she bent her food leading to her yelling in pain and then she informed her the massage was over. She then tried to sell he all sorts of over priced items. When she was leaving the massage in pain and tears my wife let them know she was dissatisfied. There immediate response was that they would let the therapist know she didn't like it. At this point my wife was in tears. A manager came along and actually provided the one of the only resemblance of good customer service that entire week. She listened to my wife apologized and offered her a discount. There are so many instances of poor customer customer service during our week on the Royal Princess. Overall with the exception of our cabin steward, one waitress at the pizza restaurant, the party band and the piano guy, the staff on this ship were terrible. I almost forgot to mention the fitness area fitness area. First it is too small. They charged extra for fitness classes and then tried to sell you overpriced insoles. here is not enough equipment. For example, 5 yoga mats for a ship f over 3000 people. You would think after ripping people off they could afford more yoga mats. I think I own more yoga mats. If you are looking for good food, to be treated with respect and to not be bored out of you mind, go on any other cruise line. We had an awful experience on Princess. I complained to there corporate guest relations who offered me a $150 on board credit and refused to do anything else for us. When I asked for the customer relations manager she told me that i could not talk to anyone above her and any attempt would come right back to her. My advice based on this experience is to read reviews. After our cruise I realized that our experience was a lot more common. I wish i had spent more time researching Princess. I feel ripped off and I enjoyed time with my wife but had a miserable time on the Royal Princess. Read Less

My husband and I expected to have a lovely experience. The ship is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful and our cabin was comfortable. The dinner menus looked interesting but the food was bland, overcooked and tough. We truly hoped it was only a one night problem but we were disappointed in the dinners on the first 5 nights of our 7 night cruise. On night 6 we decided to have dinner at Alfredo"s cafe and it was the only flavorful and well prepared dinner on the ship. The staff offered us a chance to dine in Sabitini's specialty restaurant. It was probably the WORST meal we had on this vacation. The entertainment was great. We loved the production shows. There was lovely live music in many venues around the ship. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. There were always lounges and seats available wherever we chose to go. We loved the professional portraits taken by the great photographers. Sorry to say that we definitely will not take a Princess cruise again. Read Less

The internet, phones and tv was up and down. They need to fix the phone problem because someone is going to have an emergency and not be able to call for help. Entertainment was okay. Food options were very disappointing. Very few vegetarian options. If you are a carnivore, you have it made. We were on the crown last year and it was so much better. Ports were good. We had not been to three out of the four. International cafe is normally a highlight, but options were repetitive and limited. Room service was prompt, with no issues. The best part of the ship is the retreat. Our balcony was aft, there was no privacy from above. We only experienced the soot issue one night. Our cabin steward did a good job. Overall it was not our best cruise and not our worst. We’ll definitely choose a different ship next time. Disappointed since this was our third trip on the royal. Has definitely gone down from our past two voyages on her. Read Less

Itineraries and price led us to this princess cruse, our 5th cruse in 2 years. We have been on 3 other cruse lines. Princess was the worst. Other passengers told us in the past the food was better. Princess has a lot of return customers largely due to there loyalty program. Many said they have not been on other cruse lines. Food on the buffet was always the same for breakfast. Lunch was mostly the same except the main entree. I got the impression a lot of the foods were pre prepared or frozen. The new medallion program did not always work due to computer problems and it must’ve cost a lot because it seems the cruise line cut back in there food quality. The Bad : Ship shakes under sail and unbelievably worse in port, especially annoying when you are dining. Common areas good condition but we had hit and miss cabins this fall and winter, some ok and some awful condition. Ship staff said they can’t update the rooms without a dry dock and the company keeps putting that off. Personally had and witnessed some negative interactions with the Guest Services Staff. As typical of the brand no built in activies for active adults and children. Just off a Christmas cruise on another ship of the brand, many families cruising and the young people were bored out of their minds. Royal Caribbean, Carnival or Norwegian would have been a better choice for a family vacation. The Good: The company has invested in Internet upgrades for this ship. Room and Dining staff generally excellent as is usual throughout the brand. Food quality and selection was on par with the brand and far superior to Royal Caribbean. Read Less

Terrible food. Minimal Food selections. Small Balcony Cabin. Bathroom was so small my knees were jammed up against the Bathroom door when I sat on the toilet. The waiters rarely spoke, had no personality and sometimes quite rude. Not one single restaurant Manager ever came to the table to see how your dining experience was. Our cabin had no AC for the first two days at sea and it was totally miserable. It took 4 phone calls over a two day period and me getting extremely ugly with some of the management staff before they finally moved us to a cabin with working AC, by this time the cruise experience was tarnished terribly. The Buffet served the same exact items for both lunch and dinner all 8 days of our cruise, and was pitiful. The casino was so tiny it was the size of my garage and the machines were so crammed tight together that you couldn’t get to sit down without bumping into someone. The ship was supposedly sailed in 2013 but was so dated and worn that it looked to be at least 15 years old with no upkeep. In summary, my Wife and I have been on at least 15 cruises and have NEVER experienced this before. Do yourself a favor and Sail with Norwegian where the food is great, the staff cares and the ships the same age are beautiful and well taken care of. Read Less

1st time sailing with Princess, and it is the last. They said we were the inaugural sailing with the medallions, which in my opinion are a bother and did not work well - AT ALL. Ours broke mid-cruise and they asked for it and didn't return it for a day and a half. You can still use your card, and call out a four digit number (and yes everyone can hear it) to a waiter/waitress, who sometimes would take our card, and not give it back unless you go and find them, and it. The room was average, (Dolphin Deck) and not kept as clean as I would like. The cabin steward was impersonal an not friendly, and was borderline creepy. We think the steward took my wife's meds from our room, and the thumb drive I had, had been copied as we immediately got tons of new kinds of spam as soon as we got home. Should have kept that on my person. The food was ok (really, just ok, everywhere) Although we didn't try the Crown Grill steak house. We did try the Steamers Seafood (average at best) and Planks BBQ where the service was the best on the ship. Regular dining was a joke, and the service was below average. We checked our bill at guest services the last night before arrival into home part and it was about $350.00, which was about right, on the last day we left the cabin, a paper was rolled up, and places outside our cabin in the handle. It stated that we owed the cruise line over $985.00, mostly for drinks (my wife and I do drink, and did drink, but nowhere close to that much), the cruise line dismissed our dispute stating the medallion could not have made any mistakes (we only used the medallion once at the bar to purchase drinks) and the rest of the time we used our key card by stating (out loud) our 4 digit number on the card. Bad trip, bad experiences, sub-standard, unclean room and swindled on the high seas too. I am a cruise veteran and know what I am talking about. Stay far away form ANY Carnival cruise line ship, they have certainly have lowered the overall cruising standards and give little or no quality or decent service anymore. I was made to feel I was trying to take advantage of the cruise line, and as an executive for another travel provider (yes, you know who) - I was aghast at the service, food and subsequent treatment by Carnival Cruise lines. And - never, ever again. Read Less

The ship has been refurbished and the buffet has been cut down to a third of standard because Princess has two (2) new specialty restaurants (of course additional fee). The buffet has a picnic theme, subs and ready for this...at dinner...PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY SANDWICHES...unbelievable! One guest we met onboard is a professional chef in Las Vegas and he said he will never sail with Princess again. Let’s talk about the dining room experiences, the staff are so busy serving multiple tables that it takes hours (and we timed it on 2 separate occasions) to order, receive your dinner and dessert, needless to say if you wanted to catch the show in the Princess theatre you were forced to exit early. The shows were mediocre with the EXCEPTION of BRAVO, that presentation was what Princess theatre productions were 10 years ago. The comedian one night was so pathetic, my husband and I felt sorry for him and he was the talk of the guests for days. In summary the consensus amongst the guests we met in various locations and my husband and I are a huge disappointing 10 day experience. A number of guests we met this is their first cruise and they traveled from the UK and hugely disappointed, they won’t be back... Rey sad. Read Less

One of my favorite cruise ships was the old Caribbean Princess (before renovation) ugly ice cream cone and all. The food on that ship was very good. We recently took a 10 day cruise and were pleasantly surprised by the new renovation. The crew and service were terrific as usual. The new layout, decor and amenities of the Caribbean Princess were a joy to see. The cabin spacious and spotless and there are no shortage of entertainment day and night. However when we reached the buffet we were dismayed at the selection and quality of food time and again. It was by far the worst eating experience on a Princess cruise ever. Most of the meat was served stuffed with something, MeatLoaf, stuffed pork, stuffed lamb and even stuffed chicken. Sandwiches are plentiful if you want one for lunch or dinner. Cold stuffed lamb was served in a cheap gray paper plate, meatless spaghetti sauce in a jar and self service wine and beer machines. You get the drift. It is all about cutting cost and in this case to a fault. As a stock holder of CCL and frequent cruiser, I hope the food offering on the Caribbean does not become the norm on other Princess ships since I heard plenty of complaints from fellow passengers. We are elite members sailed many times with princess.but this cruise was terrible. We had our room Tv going off and on, no internet, only warm water and food in main dining room awful. The entertainment was very sparse no production show in main theatre and pursers office not personable at all. At,our dinner table one person was a diabetic and requested special menu ahead of time and did not receive and did not get special meals at all! Princess claims to have renovated the ship but cabins have not been renovated they are old and rank! Old carpets and very lumpy mattress dirty bathrooms not only in our room but all over the ship very worn, tired and dirty furniture. I think the crew tried to help they tried to be helpful. There were many small children on board and we had a lot of crying and running down the halls. THIS SHIP WAS NOT MANAGED WELL AT ALL. Read Less

This was my families third cruise. I would not recommend this ship at all. The ship had a constant vibration at all times which made it hard to sleep at night. The food in the dining room did not taste good and there was not much variety on the menu each night. On past cruises we have been on the service in the dining room was normally excellent, on this cruise we waited for quite a while on our food and had to ask for drink refills. In order to have good food you had to go to one of the restaurants with the cover charge. I was also disappointed in the lack of entertainment while at sea on sea days. The majority of the entertainment was trying to buy something. We were also supposed to have four ports of call and one of our ports was cancelled before the cruise began without any explanation. This was a repositioning cruise right after dry dock. Embarking was delayed for inspections. The passengers were told to wait in the terminal....except the terminal was FULL so they moved more people to a different terminal. We sat outside on a bench for 3 hours with no water or facilities. When we were permitted inside another wait. Got to our room and asked our room steward for a wedge for the head of the bed. He didn't know what we were talking about so he asked his housekeeping supervisor who also had no idea. We met the Hotel Manager, Carlo, at the Cruise Critic meet and greet and asked him for some help. finally got what we needed after the first night. At dinner, for an apology by the captain and offered a FREE wine or beer. I asked for a diet coke instead and was told there would be a charge for the diet coke. Remember beer and wine were FREE. Our assistant waiter was a disaster, our poor waiter needed to do both jobs. She couldn't carry the food from the kitchen to the dining room so the waiter carried 10 meals, she carried 3. The drinks were never refilled, the tables were not cleared. She just stood around. As an elite, we get free laundry. We put the laundry in 4 days before disembarkation in Barcelona. We hadn't got the closes back, so we were forced to go to the laundromat because we ran out of clean clothes. We screamed and hollered for our laundry to be returned so that we could pack. The WET laundry was returned at 9:30PM.....and we still had to pack. The best part of this cruise was disembarking...This is only a few of the problems we encountered Read Less

We chose this Cruise on the Crown Princess because of the variety of ports for 25 days. It had just come out of dry dock and full of problems...leaks in many places, laundry facilities not working, vibrations, late and unprepared check-in and the worst selection of food lacking any imagination. The hallways had ripped wall paper, the cabin carpeting was old and the ship had an elevator that had water leakage, so it was closed most of the cruise. The entertainment was very good. However, there was boring lectures during the day; no exciting topics. The manager of the Customer Relations was very rude to several people when they were upset about the laundry facilities not working. When we expressed our problems with this cruise, the Captains Club manger said "You should have booked a newer ship". The theater on the ship was too small and filled. In order to get a seat, you had to be there 1/2 hour early. The fitness activities were lacking classes. The shore excursions from the ship were above average tour guides.Thank goodness for Cruise Critic...we were able to sign up ahead of time for duplicate bridge games and everyone was so kind. My husband and I travel quiet often. Love cruises but this one was the worse. We booked the 25 days, Ft. Lauderdale - Rome. Bad from the start. We were notified to be at the terminal at 2 PM., so we did. They had us sitting on very uncomfortable chairs until 6 PM. Had no idea why, never a reason, never an apology. The next day, the Captain offered us a free glass of wine (cheap one) for the inconvenience. The story continues: Will not get on a Princess ever again. Except for 3 days, the food at the main restaurant was "cafeteria quality". Juice and regular coffee only free during breakfast hours. After that, $$$$. We had a mini-suite D202, and for one whole week, we kept reporting that the bathtub was clogged. It took one week to repair it. The quality of the soap, shampoo, etc, provided was terrible. We had to buy toiletries at the first port we touched. They had the worse entertainment ever and on booked excursions, on each one, they made us wait on the designated meeting place for one and a half hour before moving on. They even played some video clips (advertisement) to keep us calm. You get up at 6 AM to be there on time and then, they waste 2 hours of our time with no explanation. We purchased the maximum Internet plan. I believe is 600 minutes, well, we consumed all of them TRYING to connect to the system. The worse Internet system I have experienced on a ship. We feel that they had no respect for the passengers. NEVER AGAIN. By the way, we paid for a balcony mini suite. D202. Read Less

We take two cruises a year with Princess, and are members of the Elite Status in the Captains Circle, and we liked the Trans-Atlantic Cruise we took last year so we decided to take this one because it was going to Ports we never been to before. I turned out to be the wrong decision since this ship had problems from the very start. Coming out of dry dock, we expected a sparkly clean ship ready for a lot of cruises. The ship had rust over many places on the outside hull, our room wasn't clean, carpets were being replaced during the cruise in the common areas and you could smell the adhesive so we avoided those common areas, our room needed to have the carpet replaced it was stained so badly and air freshener doesn't cover old dirty smells in the room, we sent laundry of the cleaners and the clothes came back with dark spots on the clothes and the clothes smelled terrible. We like to sleep with the balcony door open at night, but the door between our balcony and a neighbor's balcony banged all night so we closed our door, but then the air conditioner with it set to the lowest level didn't cool the room down. The walls in our room creaked all night and the bathroom door did the same. The new beds were nice, but we couldn't get a good night sleep for the whole cruise. My room key had to be replaced 3 times during the cruise and the staff at the Purser's desk went from being helpful to rude for myself and other passengers who went up to get our keys redone. I stood behind one passenger that had a key problem as well as complaints about their toilet not working for the first 3 days of the cruise and they had to use public restrooms. The man wanted another room and the person at the Purser's desk told him "We can't change anyone's room just because they don't like their room". The mats in the gym were so worn out that people put pool towels on top of them to cover the worn spots. Since we cruise enough with Princess, we get to know their menu's for dining and it seems they don't change them. The menu's had the same thing each night starting with the first night to the last night that we've had for the last four years worth of cruising. Horizon Court isn't that great of an option. We feel the food there on this ship as well as other ships has gone downhill for some time. My wife even got a rancid muffin one morning in the Horizon Court! We don't go on cruises to eat hamburgers and pizza, but we choose to eat those items since at least they were consistent. The positives were the staff from the Lotus Spa were the best group we've ever had and the water we drank was great. Those two items don't negate the other negatives from this cruise. It's sad when you have to claim drinking water as being a highlight of your cruise. We always put a deposit down for our next cuise and we didn't this time. We just feel that Princess is starting to have too many issues beginning with maintenance like their parent company Carnival. We contacted Princess' customer service about all of the issues we had on this cruise and when the representative called me about everything he clearly didn't like hearing from someone who cruises a lot with them about all of the problems we experienced. His offer to us to make us happy was a $150.00 per person credit on our next cruise. Maybe Princess feels that is satisfactory. We felt it was insulting. I wasn't expecting a free cruise, but an offer of booking an inside cabin with a no charge upgrade to a balcony plus some dollar credit would have been acceptable. We've cruised a number of other lines and know what to expect from them. We'll take our dollars over them next time since Princess Lost Us! Read Less
