Just out of dry dock - New look

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Island Princess

This was a great cruise to see the Panama Canal and other countries. This cruise was supposed to go to Aruba after leaving Port Everglades, but the ship, Island Princess, was delayed one day; thus, no Aruba. A lot of passengers were upset because of the 1 day delay, but things happen. Because of the missed day, Princess refunded passengers the one day, gave an onboard spending credit and 15% off ...

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PROMENADE DECK

My first cruise was the Island Princess, loved it. Six years later, I find Princess has removed ALL access to the promenade deck in both the rear and front of this ship. The rear is blocked off to add ten or twelve large suites. The front is walled off so a few officers can sun themselves in privacy. As a customer, there is no access to the fantail even on the top deck (sanctuary). Princess offers ...

We chose this cruise for 2 reasons, first we wanted to see the Panama Canal, and second we wanted to try Princess since my cousin who is a frequent cruiser raves about Princess. We arrived in Ft Lauderdale a day early and stayed close to the cruise terminal at the Hyatt Place. At 3 PM the day before the departure, we recived an email that the ship was coming out of drydock and was going to be ...

Our 15th cruise with Princess and initial treatment was not up to par.

We chose this cruise because of its passage through the Panama Canal and other port stops. We have had positive experiences with Princess; however, the beginning was not good on this cruise. For some reason the ship which had been in dry dock was not able to be in port on time so we were put up in what I call "Bates Motel" in a section of town where Uber drivers don't go at night. It was ...

Trip taken mainly to relax and do the canal transit. Ship came out of dry dock a day late and was not finished. There were A LOT of contractors still working on board throughout the cruise. Ship was not ready to go, staff was understaffed and too many in training. Having said that, the crew did their best with what they had. Dinner staff was run off their feet and lines for anytime usually ran ...

Delayed a Day, Missing Port of Call

The ship was coming out of dry dock to commence this cruise, and, owing to unanticipated problems in dry dock, did not come out until a day late. There was simply an email from Princess (the evening prior to when we were otherwise scheduled to embark) informing that we'd be embarking a day late, and it was up to us to make arrangements for an extra/unanticipated day in Fort Lauderdale. There ...

The Perfect Cruise

The Cruise staff was excellent. We were treated like we were Bill Gates by all. The ship was a day late for Embarkation, but Princess gave us a very fair compensation. The actual Embark took less than 10 minutes. The shows were outstanding. It was like going to a Las Vegas Show every night. We particularly enjoyed the two violinist and cello Trio. Our room was spotless. The ...

Princess has consistently delivered excellent experiences for us. We just wanted a get away in the sun and to de-stress. Pricing was good so we took the Regal. We found the entertainment absolutely great. The quality of the bands and performers was probably the best we have seen. The Piazza was really neat. This is where the big ship shows itself off. All the usual princess spaces were ...

Nice room, bad location

Nice ship. Clean and new. Staff was very nice and helpful. Shows on this sailing appeared to be above average. Cruise Director and Staff were superior in every way. However, the ship does not have enough covered out side areas to relax in. Most areas are in direct sunlight, nice if you like to be in the sun all the time. if you like to take morning walks the jogging track is to small and ...

The ship itself was gorgeous. Very festive with decorations all over. Personally found the ship too large for our taste. Did not find the service or entertainment stellar, at times waiting without a beverage for a server to acknowledge us. Ate 5/7 nights in the Symphony dining room and had amazing waiter and assistant waiter there, however did not find the rest of the areas easy to get served. ...
