So some authentication: we have gone on over 80 cruises and on several lines. Not only ONE line. We have a little experience. What a disappointment. The food was not good at all. We went to the dining room twice and vowed to not return. The maître d' offered to bring additional entrees but we were on a schedule for the show and declined. The buffet was a bit better since they had more choices. Since I am fond of soup I chose to try it at most meals. Most were uneatable. They were bland, flavorless; even though the names were enticing. But even the buffet was unsavory. Breakfasts were good; lunch and dinner left much room for improvement. Surprisingly, the Crown Grill, a specialty restaurant was great. We enjoyed our dining experience. But I was not surprised. Was that an enticement for spending more on a cruise to have better meals? Food for thought. The shows were extraordinary! The production shows and the comedian were great. It was an extra special treat. The casino was extra 'tight'. We usually spend a lot of money and time in the ship's casino but not this one. Looking around we did not find one 'hand pay'. Also in looking there were not many winners. In fact, the casino was partially empty most of the time we participated. So overall I will spend more time thinking about cruising with Princess in the future. Read Less

December 20, 2019 1) Entry to ship using Medallion App was great. 2) At 3:30 PM, Muster Station was a disaster. No organization. I was asked to sit on the floor at 70 years old! No one knew where to go. No seating for older people who could hardly stand or walk. Took too long to review from the time of arrival to the time of end. 3) At Palm Dining Room, we were charged for drinks but we have a premium drink package. They charged us for Perrier water we requested at our table. 4) At the Wine Bar, the drinks offered up to $12 were not listed. Only a few red wines listed at $11 and the rest were $ 13 or $16. Obviously, the wine list was not updated. In fact, we could not get any of the wines we requested because the wine bar did not have them for the entire trip! 5) As Platinum members, we never received the special menu for the captain’s circle appetizers. We found out about it at dinner the fourth night from the neighbor who was Platinum as well. He received the invitation, but we did not! December 21, 2019 – December 24, 2019 6) I had to wait 25 minutes to get any service, so I got up to get my own drink. 7) Every day from the 21st to the 24th during lunch, I could not get Ice for my ice tea in the Horizon Dining Room because I was told “There are too many people on the ship to keep the ice”. I asked why this waiter could not get some ice and he said to me “Welcome Aboard” . I reported him. I then had to walk outside to the bar to request ice for ice tea! Wow! In 6 other trips on Princess, I never had to get my own ice or tea! 8) My husband spoke to the Food and Beverage Assistant Director personally after Bingo was over on the 22nd of December about the problems to get Chianti or any other red wine of choice at any of the bars. He listened attentively, and was going to bring Chianti to all the bars we go to and he also wanted to send a bottle to our room. Later that day, we went to our room, and there was a GLASS of wine sitting on the table. No note, nothing. My husband called it in to the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage to find out what happened? After dinner, there was bottle in our room, no wine glasses, no opener! What’s up with that? Are we supposed to use our teeth to open the bottle, and drink out of the bottle? I have always felt that Princess is well above the other cruise lines in quality and service. But this proves me wrong! December 23, 2019 9) We ate in Palm Dining and my husband ordered the Stuffed Trout for dinner. When it arrived, it was a bright pink fish, not the taste of trout, but salmon. The day before he ordered sautéed vegetables, but they came Fried. So there is obviously a problem with the menu that is given in the dining room. My husband asked to speak to Peter, the manager in the dining room about the fish, and he argued with my husband, told him that this fish is a trout from the Pacific Ocean because he googled it and tried to show my husband in front of all the customers which was a definite confrontation and embarrassment to my husband. From that day forward, we never ate in the Palm Dining Room again. Customers should come first and should not be humiliated in front of other customers. 10) We did not know anything about the Wine Packages offered in the dining room. There is nothing offered on the website, and only the Wine Bar Attendant knew about it and told us about it. That is sad! We are big wine drinkers! I was disappointed. December 24th, 2019 11) We took a Princess Excursion to the beach in Antigua. We were herded like cattle on the dock without regard to the heat or sun. Then we boarded a van that took us to Mystic Beach which was a total disaster! People were falling into big holes in the water and could not get out. We helped many of the customers. The person who runs the bar was awful, mean, and plain nasty to the customers. We left on our own after 1 hour because we couldn’t stand it any longer. Princess needs to go on these tours prior to allowing the 3rd party vendors to make sure they are safe for the customers. As a result of this trip, we returned to the ship and cancelled all the other excursions we booked. From now on we will get off the ship and book from the outside. December 25th, 2019 (2nd Formal) 12) Crown Grill was amazing! Best food, best service! 13) The Photo Team is also amazing! We purchased the Photo Package, and I can tell you 100% that the team members are professional, they know how to take great photos, and JP from South Africa is the best one. Every photo he took was perfect! 14) We received an invitation for Sabitini Grill due to our Anniversary so we made reservations for the 28th of December. We appreciated the invitation. December 26th, 2019 15) We finally got a call from the manager of the Coral Dining Room who apologized for the incident with Peter over the trout, and told us to come to his dining room anytime. On the same day we went to dinner there, and said he would come over and check with us. He saw us, and never once came by. He was rude too! So we never went to that dining room either! 16) We reported many situations on a form and gave it to Customer Service Desk and requested answers to the comments. One concern was after looking at the history of charges on the Medallion App, we were billed for 3 drinks at the bar when only 2 were ordered. Naturally, we don’t pay for them, however, someone got a drink on our package. That was a concern to us. That is FRAUD! We waited 3 more days before Misa, from Customer Service called to let us know that we would not be charged for the extra drink. We already knew that. He never told us what happened with the extra bill and who did it? He just wanted to get the problem over without telling us what really happened. January 1, 2020 17) We received 2 plates of 8 chocolate covered strawberries in our room after dinner and we have no idea who sent them or for what? We could not eat that many! It was such a terrible waste of such a delicious item, but way too much! The communication needs to improve so that we know what is going on and there is no double orders. 18) Another issue was the Medallion app. In the Casino, the bar waiters told us we had to order from the app. The beverage manager told us if we order from the app, we get charged! Other bar waiters told us that you don’t get charged. No one really knows how to deal with the app. There were too many new employees under training on this cruise. We felt like we were Guinea Pigs on this cruise. 19) The quality of the food has really deteriorated. Princess always had fresh mashed potatoes. Now they are using Instant Mashed Potatoes, and it tastes like school lunch food! There is not enough variety of foods. For example, we don’t eat Pork and many nights only Pork was the main meat for many dishes. 20) We spent $5000.00 in the Casino. We received an offer but we cannot use it because both of us are teachers and work on a school schedule. This is the 2nd time we have been given an offer we cannot use. It is a sad situation. Why can’t the offer be used on a schedule for an upcoming cruise? We have just booked Alaska for June 6, 14 days. Why cant the casino put the offer on that cruise. The purpose is to spend more money and reward those that do spend. We are not getting the reward we deserve. In reviewing all of this, you can see how much we did not enjoy this trip. We work all year long and look forward to having a relaxing, trouble fee, and wonderful vacation which cost us over $6000.00 without Casino expenses. And to not have this wonderful, relaxing vacation at such a price makes us now think twice about moving away from Princess Cruises. We felt angry and disappointed the entire trip. We were not the only ones either! I don’t know if any other customers will send you a letter like this one, but I sure hope they do. You need to do something about this or you will lose your customers of years to other Cruise Lines. Now we are looking into Celebrity Cruise Lines for next year. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the number of ports which were mostly impressive in the end. The embarkation process was quick and organized which was nice. The ship seemed older and offered less to do than we have been accustomed to in our other travels. The cabin was what it was - we don't book a trip for the cabin since we won't be in there much, but we did have a few issues with the cabin. The bathroom flooded out two days in a row which ruined some of our personal belongings. The hot water was down for three days non-consecutively - it would get lukewarm but never reach hot. Both of these issues were addressed and corrected after multiple efforts, but our personal belongings ruined were never addressed. The dining was overly slow - taking 20-60 minutes just to get us a table every single evening. We wasted so much time waiting for the dining room that we missed several shows that we originally intended to attend. We also had to listen to the head waiter in our section belittle and speak down to the assistant waiter which was sad. We ordered the drink package and every single soda we received was flat - we eventually asked for our money back on this. The buffet had minimal selections and the food offered was not all that good anyway. The cookies in the buffet were the best - if not for the cookies, I would have lost weight on this cruise which I would think is impossible. The salad bar offerings were tiny and downright pathetic. We had to get our own drinks in the buffet and when the staff cleared the tables, we would say thank you to them and they never once responded - it seemed like they hated their jobs and didn't want to be there. Entertainment was just okay - there were singers in the Voice of the Ocean that could sing better and were better entertainers than several of those in the cruise shows. The service was lackluster and there was not much holiday spirit on the boat at all - from decorations to attitudes. We worked with the customer service rep about some of the issues we had and she was outstanding - polite, professional, understanding - a real treat to deal with. We wished the rest of the staff would have taken some cues from her on how to interact with the guests and others. We booked a couples massage online before arriving. When we got to the spa on the day of our appointment, they had no record of our appointment claiming their system was down. We waited for 20-30 minutes and they scrambled to find two masseuses to administer the massages. We also put in writing and verbalized that we wanted upper body only massage for one of them and they didn't perform the massage as requested. Ports were great - beaches on Aruba and Barbados were amazing. Megan's Bay is always a nice stop! We are not sure we would cruise with Princess again as this was a real downer. If not for the great ports and amazing company I had with me, this was a bust. Read Less

First things first. The crew and staff on this ship are exemplary. I cannot fault them on anything. Especially our cabin steward - Jerry. That man is a true and pure gem. However, I can't say the same for one young man part of the guest services team - which I'll get to later. That boy needs to learn how to use a tissue and not the back of his hand. Now on to the meat of it. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. We didn't get our medallions ahead of time because we live in Canada and they only ship them to the US. But that wasn't a problem as we had downloaded the app and were "ship ready" before we got there. Although I was annoyed that we got our embarkation email stating we wouldn't be able to get on board until 2:30 pm. When I called to ask if we could be bumped up to the first embarkation group (because I had medicine I needed to take in a clean and sterile-ish environment) - I was told that the earliest anyone could get on board would be 12:30. We arrived for 12:00 to check in, which went very quickly to be fair, only to find out that embarkation had already started at 11:00! We could have been on board 90 minutes sooner which would have equated to being able to get to the Sanctuary to book seating much sooner and not have to get waitlisted. (Read more on the Sanctuary further down). OCEAN MEDALLION: About halfway through the cruise, my medallion wouldn't recognize me as I walked up to the cabin door and would only recognize my husband's medallion even when he was walking about 5 steps behind me. Even when I tapped my medallion on to the screen it would take a while before it would recognize me. I don't like the idea that the medallion is more of a tracker. It's not necessary for anyone to know where I am or where I've been. Why does my name and face need to be plastered on the screens that I've interacted with on board? Why does my name need to appear on my cabin door? I'm sure that violates about a dozen privacy laws - including GDPR. That should be something you should OPT-IN to not have to opt-out of!! I only knew I could opt-out of it when we spoke to some other passengers who shared our privacy concerns and they told us they went to the front desk and asked to have their name removed from their cabin door. Deplorable behaviour on the part of Princess. Don't even get me started on how crap the apps are! Constantly crashing, rarely working right. It even crashed my phone to the point where I couldn't use it and had to delete the app altogether! GUEST ARRIVAL EXPERIENCE: Of all the cruises we've done over the last few years, we've never had to wait more than a couple of hours for our luggage. This time, we didn't get our luggage until almost 7:00 pm and we boarded at lunchtime. Not great. Luggage collection at the terminal was not ideal. Princess should be paying the porters since I'm required by Princess to drop my luggage off at the curbside. That burden should not fall on me financially. Unacceptable. SHIP: I felt that I was deceived by Princess claiming to have fully refurbished this ship. It's blatantly obvious from the moment you step onboard, that has not happened at all. I only noticed one area that had clearly been refurbished (Sanctuary). The ship was obviously retrofitted to be turned into a Medallion Class ship - but if that's what you're claiming is a full refurb - then you need to re-evaluate how you market your ships. Like I said - I felt deceived since simply adding panels all around the ship and outside each cabin to accommodate a system (which let's face it - doesn't work well at all) doesn't constitute a full refurb. The ship is big enough but seriously lacking in activities that don't revolve around quizzes (which we love and attend at every single opportunity) or the like. This ship is very old. Retrofitting it to be a Medallion Class ship doesn't change anything other than adding more grief with a system that rarely worked on our 2 wk trip. They've sullied the ship even further by adding more casino gaming options on the Medallion Class app itself & adding gaming panels throughout the ship. The ship is in a state of disrepair as is evidenced throughout. Eg: the cabins have dated, old furnishings. The mattresses need to be overhauled (i.e. - thrown out and not simply renamed as "luxury soft"). You may be able to pull the wool over the average cruisers eyes (i.e. - octogenarians who don't know any better) - but those of us that are savvy cruisers see your scam coming a mile away. The Spa & dining rooms need massive updates. There are broken tiles all over the spa changing rooms & the dining areas look like they belong in a retirement home - especially the Palm Dining Room. It smells horrid & looks even worse. DINING: Princess is known for their food. Heck - they've been voted as 'Best Dining at Sea' for a number of years. What happened on this ship - I have no idea. This was not the Princess food we were used to. We used the Island Dining Room and found it to be dated decor. The dining room was very clean & the service was exceptional. Wait times were not too long - on average, about 10 min (at the time of evening we were going - between 7:00 - 8:00pm). It was nice to have the option of anytime dining and not be restricted by having to dine at a specific time. The food however was not up to par. Apart from a few meals over the 2 wks, most of the food was not of a good standard. Quality was fine but taste was not. Bland, boring or just not appetizing. We had to return food on several occasions. One evening we were sent to the Palm dining room for dinner and sent back ALL of the food. It tasted atrocious. We ended up eating in the buffet. In the buffet, the crew were always on hand, very polite and cleaned up tables regularly. They always asked if we wanted coffee/tea at breakfast or anything else during lunches. No issues with the crew at all. The ice machines were constantly broken. We had to traipse around the buffet area looking for an ice machine that worked - EVERY SINGLE TIME. Quality of the food was ok. There were some items/recipes that were quite nice, while others should not have been attempted. WAY too many desert options, and not nearly enough healthy options. Total lack of variety in fruit. They even ran out of watermelon about half way through the cruise. You're in the Caribbean - explain to me why the ships stores couldn't arrange for more varied fruit / veg options from the various ports we stopped at? Not nearly enough is done to usher people towards the hand-washing stations. We've cruised with other lines where they won't allow you to pass through to the buffet area if they haven't watched you wash your hands. Not Princess. The open deck food outlets were hit & miss. The ice cream bar needs work. You can't have soft serve ice cream ONLY and call it an ice cream bar. Every other cruise line we've been on has a large variety of free ice cream available in their buffet restaurants (RCCL, NCL, even the horrid ones like MSC and Costa have REAL ice cream available). One day - we went to the ice cream bar to get some ice cream and it was 10:59 am. The attendant wouldn't serve us because "the machines aren't ready yet because we only open at 11:00 am". Seriously? The machines weren't ready at 10:59 when you open at 11:00? The pizzeria though is exceptional. Delicious authentic pizza. One of the best pizza's I've had at sea and on land! BAR SERVICE: The only thing I'll say about the bar service we used was that one evening in Club Fusion (while waiting for a quiz to start), we ordered drinks from the app on our phone. I had a glass of wine (very nice) and my husband ordered Grolsch beer (something he'd been ordering the entire cruise). The waiter comes back & says "we don't have any here". So I told him very politely, to kindly go to whichever bar on board has that beer and get us one. He then changed his story to "we don't have any onboard at all". The exchange went something like this: Me: You have no Grolsch anywhere on board? W: No, I'm sorry. Me: Not one single bottle? W: No ma'am. Sorry. Sometimes this happens. Me: Yes I know. But with beers like Bud or Miller not Grolsch! W: Well, we had a batch and it went bad a few days ago. Husband: Wait - you've been serving me bad beer for days? I just had one yesterday! W: No sir. It's just this one batch. Us: What??? At that point we gave up & ordered a glass of wine. The bar staff at the Crooners Bar were fun and lively. Which is probably why it was always packed. That bar needs to be bigger to accommodate more people. It's probably the best bar on board in my opinion. That's where they should have put some of their so called refurbishment money. ENTERTAINMENT & ONBOARD ACTIVITIES DuVaul and his activity staff are EXCEPTIONAL. DuVaul's talents are wasted on this ship. He had us in stitches all the time! Hilarious antics. They need more game shows like the ones he hosts. He's intensely funny & has a great personality. We couldn't stop laughing. The activities staff work so hard to make everyone's stay pleasant & fun. There just aren't enough activities on board. That's NOT a slight against the CD & his staff, but against the company for not offering more physical activities on board. The Links (apparently a mini-golf course) is laughable. How do you get off calling that a golf course? That's a 10 x 10 space with some holes in it!! Movies under the stars should be renamed to "college football all day long". Pathetic. Production shows were lacking quality. We only went in to see one or two and decided better of it. Just not up to the par that we're used to with Princess. And how do you NOT have shuffleboard? That's the epitome of a cruise ship! Shuffleboard and cruising are synonymous! But I guess that's no surprise since they only have one fully outdoor deck (and I don't mean the higher pool / sports decks). That's where they SHOULD have spent their refurb money. Outdoor areas. Why would you put a smoking area out there on deck 7 forcing those of us who want to have a nice walk around the deck to have to inhale that garbage? It's 2020 - get with the program. Ban smoking across the fleet! PORT & SHORE EXCURSIONS Don't even get me started on the destination presentations given by Mrs. May (can't remember her first name). They were a pathetically lame excuse for a port lecture. Total joke. She got most of the info wrong, was grossly unqualified for the job and immensely inaccurate most of the time regarding historical 'facts' about the ports and general port information. I kept wanting to scream out at her that she was wrong every time she opened her mouth! During her talks she kept constantly saying "I don't know what excursions they have for this port - I don't work for the excursions team". What in the actual what? You can liaise with them and with the port authorities and the port tourism offices to get a better understanding of how things change since the last time you were there. The amount of times she said things like "I don't know if this is still valid because I've not been to this port in over 2 years" was extraordinary. There wasn't a single thing she said on those port talks that I didn't already know from looking at the internet before we set sail. Unfortunately, Princess didn't do well on the itinerary when they were trying to figure out how to have a 2 week cruise over Christmas and New Year. They should have accounted for those ports that were visited on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Clearly the team that plans the itineraries didn't do their due diligence and research to find out what services and attractions would be open in those two ports that were affected by Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Unfortunately, we were unable to see anything of any value in those two ports - especially Barbados - since EVERYTHING was closed. They failed miserably on those two ports. Princess should look into extending stays in many of the ports. Antigua should have been longer. It's such a beautiful island and needs much more time to explore. Same for St. Kitts. Curacao was EXCELLENT because we had an actual FULL day / evening there. Arrived just before 08:00 am and didn't leave until 10:00 pm. That was perfect. ONBOARD SHOPPING BOUTIQUE Why would you not stock essentials in the boutiques? Things that are practical that people might either have forgotten, or damaged while on board? Practical things like belts, stockings, even lingerie! Those are the kinds of things that would make a difference in someone's vacation. Even things like evening shoes for both men and women. My husband ruined one of the heels on his shoes and had you offered dress shoes in your boutique, he would have bought a pair. As it turned out his sneakers were damaged about 1/3 of the way into the cruise and he ended up buying a pair of Sketchers that the boutique sold. THAT'S practical stuff. Not pointless $500 + outfits! We all look forward to the sales at the end of a cruise. It's a given that there's going to be mostly crap they're trying to offload, but you also get some really good deals on jewellery, watches, clothing, etc. Oh no - not Princess. Couldn't possibly. EVERY cruise line does this. They put out the more popular items (not just t-shirts) for sale and people snap them up! Learn from other lines Princess - learn! LOTUS SPA & SALON: My only comment here is regarding the actual physical spa itself. It needs refurbishment. Especially the changing rooms. We used them all the time and in the women's changing area, one of the two bathrooms was CONSTANTLY closed for repair. The toilet was leaking regularly and had to be serviced ALL the time. They spent how many millions supposedly refurbishing the ship (which we all know means nothing) but clearly didn't spend it in areas that matter. The tiles in the bathroom (inside the changing rooms) were all busted. I only used the Salon for one service (pedicure) and that was very nice. My technician was lovely, personable and knew exactly what she was doing - very high quality service on her part. CASINO: Oh wow. What a waste. Tightest slots at sea is what they SHOULD rename it to. We're not heavy gamblers but we always walk away with more than what we spend in casinos at sea. Not Princess. She just gobbles up your cash and doesn't give you any back. I've learned my lesson where Princess casinos are concerned. Never again. The amount of gambling terminals spread throughout the ship and their availability on the Medallion app is deplorable. That's just another way for Princess to get more money from people. They should be encouraging other activities - not just gambling. Read Less

Desired a short cruise over the Christmas season. However we chose a large ship with a large passenger capacity and the ship was completely full. Tours were poorly organized. Tenders were not all in working order. Missed our tour of Panama City due to lack of maintenance of tenders and disorganization of moving people off ship to get to shore. Complete power failure on one occasion - very concerned about situation should a crisis occur. Poor quality evening entertainment. Buffet staff consistently looked very unhappy. The only positive thing I can say is thank goodness we were assigned a very competent, pleasant and good natured steward. Disembarkation was totally disorganized, had 10 minutes to make our flight. If I had not spoken to security and waited for our disembarkation scheduled time we definitely would have missed our flight. Previous cruises with Princess have been excellent but cannot say the same about this cruise. Read Less

This is not the company that we knew, our previous cruise was 5 years prior to this and we have 16 Princess cruises to measure this disaster against, We chose the cruise which was over Christmas and New Year going through the Panama Canal. Embarkation took over 2 hours , we stood outside in a line with no refreshment , check in was tedious. Christmas decorations were minimalistic with exception of the foyer, very plastic but ok , each public area had one tree and the main dining room had a table decoration which was a band of plastic berries and a flower ( photo attached) the staff all had a veil Father Christmas hat on. The service from all the staff throughout the ship was excellent Our outside cabin had only one chair and no sofa it was inadequate The food and service was good, in the restaurant, The Lido buffet was a bit like a football match , at peak times it was difficult to get a seat nonetheless the food was OK In that area it is impossible to sit quietly with events and films competing to be the noisiest. Entertainment was badly scheduled and poor , was it because acts did not come on during the Christmas period. There were no big shows , poor singers and dancers with 3rd rate”Stars” . The cruise director was ineffective. The reason for doing this trip was the new Panama locks this was well executed and narrated and did not disappoint. The tours that we did were excellent except the tender we were on lost power in one engine and there was no steering so we waltzed around for a good 20 mins before we got back to the ship there was another tender waking for us but guess what that was broken So 2 big tenders out of action? Good job there was not an evacuation. But wait, that evening for about 15 minutes the engines stopped, everything including lights went out. We were sent a drinks voucher . Speaking of which Not sure were all the officers were on this ship were they in hiding they only seemed to emerge for the Captains circle event The drinks were outrageously priced plus tax and tips , hence the bars were quiet . New Year’s Eve was yet another disaster the main event was scheduled on the top of the ship but it was too cold and windy there was nothing scheduled in Explorers as the best band was on the top of the ship We have seen much of the world with Princess and we feel sad that the decline in the experience is so great that we will not be travelling with them again. I won't use Princess again. Always trouble with time lines including being crammed into a room before embarkation. 3 of 5 tenders were down for Panama excursions which left little time on land, 7:30 am early disembarkation turned into 8:00am. Food in MDR started out fine but got worse - poor cuts of meat. We were told to get our outgoing mail in by a certain time each port. Problem? They only had American stamps and didn't send mail until Los Angeles. Who wants mail stamped from home? Why not tell us that to begin with and maybe told us where to fin a post office on shore? Cost of shore excursion were over priced for what we received. Spa was excellent, our waiters in the MDC were amazing and our cabin steward was great, too. Actually, most of the service crew aboard the ship were very pleasant. The entertainment had a couple of good acts, but it left a lot to be desired. The ships engines quit one evening and all power went out. "Stay were you are until further notice." They did get it up and running quickly but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. This was an expensive trip that should have enjoyed everyday but that didn't happen. Shore excursions didn't give enough time to see a lot - especially since there was always a wait time getting on or off the ship. Also, his is the first cruise where I heard passengers complain s much. Elevator, bathroom, steps, waiting in lines, etc. Read Less

The Crown Princess needs to be in dry dock for updating and renovations, along with their entertainment staff of singers and dancers. The whole ship, from outside rust to deteriorating furniture to elevators that had peeling paint on doors to non working balcony doors in staterooms - You name it, it needs repaired or replaced. The worse part was the lack of effort to correct problems. Our balcony door was extremely hard to open, sometimes it would not open at all, and yet after repeated requests to front desk staff and room steward, problem was not corrected until last day of a 10 day cruise. Entertainment singers and dancers must of been a new group that had not been together for very long. Opera singers trying to sign disco or motown did not lend itself well to a good show. Food was repetitive and uninspirational - buffet food at dinner was better than dining room. Read Less

used Princess Crown for British Isles cruise in August 2019 and found it very enjoyable. In our December 2019 cruise to the Virgin Islands aboard same ship we found maintenance issues on several days in two different assigned rooms. Leaking ceilings on two occasions, our clothing was soiled from leaking directly into our closet; repairs by on board plumbers failed twice. TV needed repair, thermostat refused to function needing repair. In the course of all these issues we began to believe we were certainly not aboard a Princess cruise ship and certainly not the same Crown Princess we had sailed just a few months past in August 2019. Ocean view room requested resulted in room fully obstructed by lifeboat that prevented seeing the island or any of the area beauty; we did see the interior of the lifeboat. The Production Shows and the Anytime Dining in the Michael Angelo Room were outstanding in every respect, and the ship's decorations for the Christmas celebration were memorable! Read Less

Crown Princess is a beautiful ship, but not beautifully designed, it is all very bland in colors and finishes. One area looks like every other area. Nothing unique or memorable. Cold, cold, cold ship.... cold in your state room, cold in the restaurant, cold in the common areas of the ship. Even with the 2 room thermostat’s set on high heat, the room remained extremely cold. It is a miserable environment to be so very cold for a 10 day cruise. Anytime Dining..... the Concierge and staff of the dining room (Michaelangelo or DaVinci) will make you wait 40 minutes or longer for a seat if you do not want to sit with other couples. They often tell you that you could be seated almost immmediately if you will sit at a large table of people rather than a table for two. Treatment by Wait Staff not that good. We visited Michelangelo twice and never returned. We ate at the buffet where there was less drama. As for Crown Princess Anytime Dining... for a couple of two it is non-existent. Even when you tried to make a reservation, reservations were only available at 5:00, 5:15 and after 7:30. State Room Servicing..... staff would often not come to the cabin if you were present in the cabin, so rather than servicing the cabin twice a day, it would only be once a day in the early evening. Sheets would not be changed half way through the cruise (5 days), so we had used, dirty sheets for the last 5 days of the cruise. Theater Shows..... most cruises have a few theater musical singing and dancing shows. This cruise kicked off the week with an Opera and 1 musical. But there were many comics. So, Crown Princess does not get high marks for entertainment. Pizza..... Carnival and Princess bragged about serving the best thin crust pizza. For Carnival it was definitely true on multiple cruises, but Princess it was definitely untrue. Pizza served was often cold and did not taste as good as they have in the past. Buffet Meals..... it seems that there were less selections of food that you could eat. It also seems there was a lot of pork served during the 10 day cruise. The salad bar was very good. Would have been nice to have the option to put tune fish on the salad. Food overall at the buffet was OK, but not as good as past cruises. The way the buffets area were arranged on the Crown Price meant that by 5 pm it was difficult to find an available table near the buffet entrance. This problem was primarily caused by the inability to go directly from the buffet area to either side of the ship. It also is a possibility that folks were abandoning the dining room and heading to the buffet. State Room Condition..... clean but extremely well worn. Bathtub bottom had numerous dark stains and there was grout that was turning black... I assume it was mold. Sofa cushions kept falling off the sofa. But, the bed had a soft topper that was much nicer than previous hard beds that were very uncomfortable. State room had 2 temperature control is units on the wall. We kept the temperature on the highest warm temperature, but it was always cold, cold, cold in the room. So cold, we had to order bathrobes and wear them inside the room at all times to stay warm. Patio door never locked properly because the handle was broken and could not be moved into a normal locking position. (I checked the door numerous time and the door was locked. One time the TV satellite would not work in port because of electronic interference, so Satellite TV was not available to watch if you decided not to leave the ship. Plenty of OnDemand TV shows to watch. Now, the show you were watching would pause every few minutes, so you would miss small segments of the show (this was an everyday occurrence). These were not live shows, but one stored on the ship to play when you wanted. This pausing also happened during Satellite TV Live Shows. Twice one of the TVs completely failed. The steward showed us how to unplug and then reconnect the TV to get it working again. Our in-room safe broke the second night in the room. It took 2 calls to Service to get someone to fix it which occurred the next day. Our toilet stopped working/flushing on two different days. It took about 3 calls to get this fixed on 2 different occasions. The light on the balcony never worked, but I did not call Maintenance because I am on a vacation. I felt as if no general maintenance should occur in the state rooms, and was up to the current resident of the room to get things fixed during their 10 days in the ship. Not Good! Room Food Service..... Excellent. Food was ordered via Medallion App on the TV and delivered so fast. This area of the ship was managed and executed exceptionally. Job well done! Effy Jewelry Shop..... rings seemed to be $5000.00 and over. I think most people on this cruise would leave these pieces behind - prices were just too expensive, especially when compared to similar items at various shops in the ports of call. Medallion..... Works very well. I observed no faults at all. Very useful in terms of embarking on and disembarking off the ship during port calls. Originally, when we enrolled in the Medallion program, we were told that we would have a fast check-in and check-off the ship. This is a bit of misinformation because if 300 people were in the line to check-in, it still took 30-45 minutes of standing in a long line to check in. Same thing with getting off the ship. So, part of the lengthy process has been solved, but definitely not the entire process. There are some bad parts of the Medallion..... State Room staff would check to see if a passenger were in their state room, and not come to clean the state room as scheduled until the passenger(s) left the room. If the passenger(s) did not leave the room until 1:00 pm, then the state room staff were gone from the floor, so cleaning the room only occurred in the early evening. If you want to have the ice bucket filled in the morning or afternoon, you are out of luck. The GPS of the Medallion is being over-used by Room Service a tad. An example would be.... I ordered a sandwich one afternoon in my husband’s name. I remained in the state room while my husband walked around the ship. Room Service was trying to catch up with my husband, rather than bringing the food to the state room. Eventually, Room Service did contact me in the State Room asking if I would accept the sandwich. So, this is an example of the Medallion users going a little nuts. Another example of the Medallion problem is the kiosks in the common areas of the ship. The kiosks had a timeline of all event happening on the ship. I placed my medallion on the kiosks to check an evening out, and my name and photo never disappeared from the kiosk. It remained there for the entire evening. This is a violation of my privacy. The Medallion also keeps your full name posted on your state room kiosk. Again, this is another violation of my privacy. If a single woman were in a state room, why would she want her single full name posted on her door kiosk. The fact is, she would not want to advertise there was only one person, a woman, in the state room. On port calls, shop personnel would often ask for your ship card when you were making a purchase. We don’t have ship cards, we have a Medallion. Nobody from the Crown Princess bothered to notify any shop in port about the Medallions. So, this was a bit of a problem. Bottom Line...... I am not sure that I want to go on another Princess Cruise. Extremely cold room, food and entertainment was uninteresting, lack of state room service, room having many issues, etc. Read Less

Positives: excellent service, delicious food in MDR, entertainment good. Staff were friendly and courteous for the most part and we enjoyed chatting with them. Negatives: ship in dire need of reburbishments. Common areas extremely dated and worn. Cabins tired, but more surprisingly dirty due to cloth on headboard as an example being stained. Seating in public areas also looks dirty due to being so worn and stained. Pool areas were very uninviting - the interior area was extremely dated. Apart from Chrooners bar, we felt that there was nowhere on the ship that we wanted to hang out in and we genuinely are typically easily pleased individuals. We were quite surprised that Princess would deem this experience as acceptable, particularly in light of the lengthy cruises this ship operates. What also stood out was an element of tackiness that wasn’t expected on a Princess ship. Not sure who oversees their branding and visual displays but they may wish to stay clear of purchasing decorations from the dollar store (or similar). Main Dining room was great - after one meal we stayed clear of the Horizon Buffet as we’d prefer not to eat off plastic plates while on vacation. Read Less

You'd think it would be difficult to be pissed off after spending a week somewhere as gorgeous as the Caribbean. But congratulations, Regal Princess - you've succeeded. I'll start with a little background: This was the FOURTH cruise I've taken with Princess just this year alone - and my second on the Regal. I'm not the type to complain about every little issue on a cruise - I'm generally pretty easy to please. I did Panama Canal last month on the Island Princess and it was amazing. Zero complaints. I wrote a great review after that cruise because they deserved it. I just got home from a seven day Western Caribbean cruise on the Regal Princess. The ports of call and shore excursions were excellent, as always, but many things about the ship itself were pretty terrible. I don't even know where to begin, so I'll take it from the top... I boarded the ship the first day and headed up to the Riviera Deck to my stateroom - R311. I immediately noticed a funky smell in the hallway - almost like the cleaning products used to deodorize a toilet in a bus or airplane bathroom. It was pretty gross. I noticed that the carpets were wet, too, so I assumed that they had just wet vacuumed the hallways or something. I went into my stateroom and began unpacking. The carpet in front of my bathroom was also wet - bad enough that my socks got soaked after stepping on it. And the bathroom itself smelled like urine, which really bothered me, because I had the same problem last Spring in my stateroom on the Aloha deck. Later in the afternoon I went to explore the ship and stopped by the front desk to tell them about the smell in the bathroom. They said they'd have the steward take care of it, and he did - when I went back to my room an hour or so later, the bathroom had been bleached and scrubbed and the smell was almost totally gone (note: if you want your steward to take great care of you, give him/her a $20 tip at the beginning of the cruise as soon as you meet them and they'll do almost anything for you). I was tired that evening and decided to just order room service. This also turned into an exercise in frustration. I called several times and nobody answered. I was put on hold each time. After spending about 10-15 minutes waiting, I'd had enough and called the front desk to complain. They said they'd have the room service people call me back, and eventually, they did. I tried not to get too worked up about the situation because it was the first night of the cruise, and the room service staff are often pretty backed up at this time. I ordered the lobster and steak and paid $19 for it (it wasn't worth it, and not only that, they got my order wrong). Later in the evening I tried calling the dining reservations line to make a reservation for the following evening at Sabitini's, and same situation - nobody answered. I gave up after several attempts. That night I went to bed in a not great mood but was hopeful that the rest of the cruise would be much better. I was startled awake at 5:30am by a SCREECHING alarm that went off in my stateroom. I called the front desk and they said they were aware of the problem - someone else had also called from their room on Riviera to report the same thing - and that they were working on fixing it. The alarm continued screeching for another 15 to 20 minutes. At this point, I'm wide awake, and I go to use the bathroom. I open the bathroom door and the bathroom stinks like urine again. Now I'm definitely not happy. There's no way I'm getting back to sleep. The alarm is still going off. I go down nine flights of stairs to the front desk to complain about the alarm and the smell of the bathroom. They send a housekeeping manager up to my room to check out the bathroom, and he sends the plumber up. Eventually the alarm turns off. The plumber fiddles around with the bathroom drains for 15 minutes or so, and then says he's sorry but there's not much he can do - the entire Riviera deck was flooded yesterday by a burst pipe, which is causing the sewer smell in both the hallway and possibly the smell in my stateroom bathroom, too. Basically, I'm out of luck. I appreciated the honesty, because this was the first time someone had the decency to actually explain to me what the TRUE situation was. A simple letter of apology or acknowledgement from Princess would've gone a long way here. "Hey, sorry the hallway is flooded and smells like a sewer and we did nothing to warn you", or "hey, sorry to wake you up from a sound sleep at 5:30am with an ear-splitting alarm that went off in dozens of rooms for 20+ minutes with zero explanation and no way to quickly turn off". Needless to say, this never happened. In any event, I called guest services and told them that I wanted a new room on a different deck. They said the ship was filled to capacity but that they'd see what they could do and get back to me. I heard nothing back for several hours. It wasn't until I got my travel agent involved AND threatened to contest the entire cost of the cruise with my credit card company that guest services finally had someone up the chain reach back out to me. I received a call a little later from Dean - the guest services director - and he was fantastic. I really need to give credit where credit is due here. I explained to him that pretty much every single thing about the cruise up until that point had been a complete nightmare, and that nobody on staff either seemed to care and/or had the ability to help me fix the problems I was having. I pretty much gave him a list of complaints and he immediately began addressing and trying to fix each one. It made all the difference in the world to me that he took my complaints seriously and actually worked to correct them. He even made me a complimentary reservation at Sabitini's that evening. Without my experience with Dean and his help resolving everything here, I doubt i'd ever be taking a Princess cruise again. From this point on, some things improved and some didn't. I went to Sabitini's that evening and this was literally the highlight of the cruise. They were so welcoming and friendly - the level of service and quality were amazing. I wish the entire cruise was like this. It meant so much to me that they actually treated me like a guest, because for most of the cruise up until this point (and after it), I felt like just a number. The ports of call and shore excursions were all excellent. Thank God for that because this helped the cruise not seem like a complete disaster. I did have some fun, at least. But overall, the negative experiences I had that first day or two of the cruise overshadowed the entire vacation, especially because many of them were never completely resolved. The hallway and bathroom continued to smell, it was difficult to get a human being on the phone when calling room service, the dining reservation line, or even the front desk, and the ship seemed very understaffed for the amount of guests on board. With so many shortcomings during this cruise, I've been trying to put my finger on how things could've gone so noticeably downhill since my last Regal cruise this past March. My theory is that it all boils down to the Medallion system. It's obvious that Princess is eliminating staff and replacing them with a terribly inadequate and cumbersome system of online Medallion applications. What a huge mistake. Human beings should not be replaced by automation in an industry where the overall level of quality/satisfaction is so heavily determined by the level of care/attention you receive from actual humans. If I go to McDonald's, I don't care if the human interaction is replaced by a self-service kiosk. When I'm on a cruise, it's a completely different story. Not to mention the fact that the apps often don't work or drastically limit the number of things you can do/order compared to when you interact with an actual human staff member - which often necessitates an additional human interaction, anyway. The few staff still employed seemed totally overwhelmed with the number of guests on board. They couldn't keep up, guests were getting frustrated, there were lines for almost everything, and the decreased morale was pretty apparent. it's a lose-lose situation for everyone involved. I really hope someone high up at Princess reads this review. Some of the issues on this cruise might've been bad luck, but others were entirely preventable. A lot of it boils down to customer service. I've given Princess many thousands of dollars in business in the past year alone. Just because I'm on the younger side, and traveling solo, doesn't mean I should receive a lower level of service than an older couple or a family with kids - and that was the impression I got again and again on this cruise (as well as other Princess cruises I've taken). I guarantee you I'm contributing just as much to your bottom line as these people, if not more. Perhaps you should realize who your truly loyal customers are, and start treating them that way. We had our vacation ruined by loud chair shuffling, carts slamming and doors opening all night long every night. Other than that, the cruise was good, the food and the service were top notch. The itinerary was great too however Grand Turks was kind of a letdown, we took a coast to coast island tour but unfortunately there’s not much to see other than some random donkeys here and there. We ended up at a abandoned lighthouse were we were charged additional money to see it. In Columbia, we took a hop on hop off which was great but the locals shoving items for sale in your face was too much. Our group was harassed like I’ve never before. I know they are just trying to earn a living but they were overly aggressive and honestly it made us feel totally uncomfortable. The other stops were fantastic, Read Less

First, let me start by saying that my wife and I have more than 15 cruises with Princess under our belts. Royal is simply the biggest of the ships we have sailed on with Princess. While I will always recommend Princess Cruises to someone, my future trip planned for next year on this vessel, we are cancelling. Let me start with the creepiest thing about Royal and the Ocean Medallion experience....they put sensors in your cabin bathroom. Ocean Medallion tracks your every move about the ship and allows them to data mine your activites. But do they really need to know how many times I use the bathroom in my cabin? Creepy. The Piazza. Originally a nice idea. Small shops, little restaurants, like an italian piazza. On Royal its just another Entertainment venue. The performers and activities blasted so loud over the entire area you simply cannot enjoy any venue. Its a big space...and the audio system has the watts to fill it. Having a conversation with that nice couple you just met in the wine bar? Forget it. Run into a crew member covering tables in two venues at the same time who, remembers you from a previous cruise and want to catch up on their lives while sipping a martini in Crooners? Lol....nope. Pools. Royal has also traded the traditional two exterior pool design for one, oddly smaller pool and a more congested pool area. Also used as an entertainment venue. Quiet day lounging by the pool? Not on Royal. Perhaps in the Sanctuary, a reservations required venue. Elevators. Royal carries about 20% +/- more passengers, with only about 4% more crew and the same number of elevators as other ships. Wait, wait, wait. If you require a walker, or any other mobility device, good luck with that and these elevators. The primary specialty restaurants, Sabatini's and Crown Grill were excellent as always. The buffet, confusingly laid out but, with good selection, was a slight improvement over other ships. In some ways Princess has found a way, with Royal, to cross-over with their sister line, Carnival...the "party ships" and in many respects Royal is just a big Carnival ship but with better food and no towel animals on your bed in the evenings. Getting a drink on Royal literally mandates the use of the Ocean Medallion fob and phone app. The venues are short wait staff for the passenger load. (The corporate money making feature of Ocean Medallion, safe to say) So, best way to get a quick drink is to order one on the phone app. Delivery times averaged 7 minutes for the items we ordered. Fundamentally everything about Royal runs contrary to why many people cruise Princess. Adult atmosphere, decency, quiet and privacy. Royal is like a trip to the mall on Black Friday. If you like that kind of thing, than for you this ship is five +++ stars. We however, will pass. Read Less

Very disappointed. Our 5th cruise on Princess. Loved the first four. Booked this because we wanted to see Belize. Then Belize was removed from the itinerary. Our cabin was nice. Seemed just like the others but the shower was a little bigger. Liked the tv mounted on the wall. Because of the outrageous noise level nearly everywhere else onboard, I chose to spend more quiet time in the cabin. Nice new movies. The Piazza is larger than on the other ships but no longer a good place to relax. Always something loud happening there too. The games in Princess Live were enjoyable but really inane. Bingo was $69. Only played once. Way too expensive. Seems like most activities were built around shopping. All the shows were geared toward a younger crowd...those who think everything needs to be deafening. My husband had to turn off his hearing aids! I wore ear plugs but still had to keep my fingers in my ears. Conversation was near impossible except in the dining rooms. We walked through the pool area one day and the movie playing was so loud I threw my food away so I could plug my ears. I spoke personally to the cruise director about the volume level everywhere and he just shrugged his shoulders and laughed. We went on an $85 bus ride (excursion) on St Maarten for 4 hours with the only stops being stuck in traffic. It was horrible. The only other excursion was 'minimal' activity level. The first stop was a 45 minute walk. I got about 10 minutes in and turned around. My back couldn't take it. So I shopped in a shop the driver recommended. I bought a necklace, bracelet, earring set. I asked the 'recommended' seller if I would be able to put the necklace and bracelet together to make it longer. He said 'absolutely'. When we got back, I tried and found the clasps to he two different sizes. Pretty must wasted money. Plus the earring hang crooked. No receipt or purchase information in the bag. The food was good as was the food service. Our cabin steward was wonderful. It cost me $95 to see the doctor to get a prescription refill plus $1.86 per pill that cost me $8 for a month supply at home. I heard the receptionist tell other people coming in that the dr visit would be $45. No explanation why mine was so much. The furniture in the Princess Live lounge was quite uncomfortable overall. The seating in the Princess Theatre was much less roomy than on the other ships. Narrow seats with little leg room. I can't even imagine how larger people could squeeze into those seats. If this ship was designed to cater to younger travelers, that should be noted at booking. I feel like this may well be our last cruise. All in all, a great disappointment. Read Less

They were surly and not helpful. The food selection was surprisingly poor. We are Platinum level, so this was not our first Princess experience. The Panama tour was 2 hours late, cramped seating, and disorganized. When we disembarked, that was disorganized also. We were constantly assured we would get off the ship at the promised time. Then we were held because the terminal was “too busy”. We have enjoyed the loyalty program, but I’m afraid this will be our last Princess cruise . I think they have lost their edge due to nickel and dime motivation. This was our 6th Princess Cruise and 22nd overall. We opted for a Thanksgiving getaway cruise to the Caribbean out of Ft Lauderdale and this cruise fit our schedule. We opted for a full suite which was located at the stern (back) of the ship on the Starboard side (D-737). It was apparent on arrival that the Crown has not been refurbished in a very long time. The stateroom did not have any modern electrical outlets or circuits. There were no UBS cable ports. In order to use my CPAP machine they had to run a industrial size extension chord behind the bed over to the dressing table that only had (2) outlets. The size of the plug on the cable was so big it took up both outlets leaving us the charge phones and accessories during the day when we unplugged the extension chord. The bathroom had only one (1) vanity and sink and NO SHELVES. You had to leave every personal item on the vanity counter which got quite cluttered. The pull out clothes line in the bath area was broken and not usable. The exterior patio porch was in terrible condition and looks like it had not had any maintenance in a very long time. The hand rail was coating was all gone on the backside of the rail (varnish), the main support posts were filthy, the glass was not cleaned during our entire stay (10 days), there was visible rust all along the bottom of the rails where they meet the main deck. The patio furniture was very old but made of wood and very usable. There was visible rust everywhere your eyes roamed. Not what we expected or paid for in a Suite. The food was OK but not as good as other Princess ships we have been on. The entertainment was a very big disappointment. We did enyoy breakfast room service which was Excellent. Smoking in the Casino is still a big problem even when us non smokers have to walk thru the Casino to get anywhere. I can't believe Senior Princess Executives can't see that the smokers are the MINORITY aboard ships and that all smoking in Casinos should be eliminated. In summary I feel that I paid for a cruise at a Ritz Carlton facility but instead received a cruise sponsored by the Days Inn. We have taken the Crown Princess off our future cruise listing. We definitely did not get what we paid for. Time for a complete refurbishment. Read Less

The shore excursion desk was very rude when we tried to nicely explain problems we had on an excursion. The dining was ok at best. The service was nice, but the food was very boring. Pockets of good and bad service made the cruise average or less. Good to excellent were the stateroom attendant, bar tenders, casino staff, Steamers upcharge venue (add the lobster and crab for $12 more), and Ray Coussins on piano! Poor were the dining rooms for spotty service and errors in billing drinks; at least the food was good... Also the Ocean Medallion system did not work well except to unlock the stateroom door from 5 feet away. I was hoping to order drinks from any location but it was often not available or hard to get the order right. Food ordered with it arrived dried out and cold. Probably it’s best use was to locate cruise mates who allowed location sharing. The layout of the ship is good with 4 pools to choose from. The itinerary was boring except for swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Holding a ray as big as me made the whole cruise worth it. That said, we’ve decided our next cruise will be an all inclusive medium sized ship like Seabourn offers. Read Less

We have been on 70+ cruises including about 30 on Princess. We the sister ship of the Caribbean Princess and they are NOT alike. The cabin in the same area we had on the Caribbean Princess was very noisy with THIN not insulated walls. Dinner was slow and the menu was the worst I have ever seen with limited choices. People arriving 45 minutes late for their assigned seating were seated and delayed our service and the food was cool to cold We gave up after the third night and ate upstairs in the buffet which at least had a better choice of food and it was warmer even sitting in the heating trays. Normally we had very good service from our room steward, restaurant server, and the help in the buffet. The schedule everyday same was the same and lacked anything other than the piano and steel drum entertainers. We did a back to back 10 night cruises and between the cruises we had to get off the ship for BORDER PROTECTION. Why I don't know as we didn't re-enter the US until December 7th when we got off. I.C.E. use to board and do any passport checks in the comfort of a cruise ship show room where we had access to food and drink and the I.C.E. officials seem to like having theirs while checking papers. I will not be using the Crown and if the quality of the food does not improve we will change cruise lines. We like our 30 to 60 days a year at sea to relax and get away from the daily grind of being retired. Read Less

We had good experiences with Princes before, not this time. What can I say, fire alarm in the cabin going off every time we took a shower, the phone ringing 20 times afterwards telling us, then people at our door. We finally got moved after 5 days of this, but it took the fun out of our cruise already. The food was mediocre at best, but it seems all cruise lines are just not getting it food wise anymore. We really didn't't get very good info on some of our excursions and one got part of it cancelled, the best part and only a 50% refund The shows were really good, the best part of the cruise Dancing was non existent. One needs to really check out what you are buying excursion wise before you pay, some are really worthless, Hop on Hop off in Cartengena - don't do it, another took us up a dirty, smelly river for an hour. Mediocre ports of call. There is really nothing of interest in these worn out places. The ship overall was very average. Services overall were very average. The real sore point was the dining experiences. Buffets in the Horizon court were ok and average. However, the sit down experiences were terrible. People were friendly, and we were seated quickly enough. With the exception of Italian night the food was subpar. The worst thing however was the incredibly slow service. Sometime we waited 30-45 minutes between courses and that was trying Overall, very disappointing. I had been on quite a few pervious cruises with Princess and a fair number with other cruise lines. My favorites have been adventure cruises, but that is not Princess' area. This cruise did not measure up in any way to any of the decent Princess cruises. If this were my only Princess experience, I would definitely not recommend them or consider for myself in any future dates. Read Less

We did have 2 balcony cabins on deck 10 Caribe. Embarkation was swift and without a problem. The cabins, what to say about the cabins. The wear and tear is visible all over. The floors of the balconies were full of rust, paint spatters all over. Modern travelers carry with them a multitude of electric equipment, like phones and tablets. There is no way to charge them. There are 2 outlets hidden under the hair drier. If you use one you can't use the other. (See picture). So you ending up permanently trying to charge your electric equipment. The beds are good. But the cabins are really in for a refurbishment and a major one too. The best thing about the ship is the crew, in general friendly and helpfull. The food is at best very very average, sometimes even below par. Variation is minimal, certainly at the buffet. The any time dining was just OK, but also here the choices are minimal. The buffet certainly on the sea days is crowded, but still they keep the buffet at the 2nd part of the horizon closed. The first part is crowded so you have to walk to the second part for any seating at all. Lemonade is only available from the waiting staff, why? This is sooo slow! Entertainment, never experienced it so bad. The show in the theater "Blame it on the boogie" is 32 minutes!! All the other shows are also very short ones. Is in and out again. There was no change of the music, so after hearing the same band for 3 days on 3 different stages you've heard their repertoire, but you have to go for another 7 days with them. Fitness, 5 running machines were broken during the whole cruise. In the mornings allways very crowded. For what you have to pay this is a poor quality. I compare it with Norwegian and Celebrity and Princess is losing this here on most areas. Our first Princess Cruise but definitely the last Read Less

Ship is in need of repairs!!!!!! Rugs coming up all over the ship. Brass railings and elevators need major repairs. All the elevators are scrapped up and look like they were used as freight elevators. Balcony has excessive rust and not cleaned between cruises. Balcony table was pitted and paint peeling. Broken drawer handles in the cabin. Drawers hard to open and close. Broken door closer in bathroom. Mold found in the shower. First night i found feces ( skid mark)on the comforter. Ordered things for the cabin and the room steward never brought it. I ordered a bottle of wine and it was left without a corkscrew or glasses. The wifi was absolutely horrible. Cuts out in the middle if texting or streaming video. Medallion class connection only worked about half the time. There was a refrigerated display case in the international cafe that was broken and water leaking all over ,it took them 5 days to even start repairs. There were a few very good things. Food was very good in main dinning and exceptional in the crown gill and sabatini's a;ong with the service there. Read Less
