Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Ruby Princess

The Ruby Princess was built in 2008, refurbed in 2018 and surely must be due for another upgrade. It's clean but terribly drab and grossly underwhelming. There are three main dining rooms and each evening all three serve the very same menu. It would have been nice to have a choice of cuisines, i.e., Italian, Continental, French, etc. The food was really not good, the portions were small and ...

Princess, what has happened to all the things that made this line special?

I don’t know where to start: We cruised from Dec 18th-28th Christmas cruise. We have never cruised this class of ships and never will again. Embarkation was a night mare we were standing in long lines both blue and green were mixed up, and the staff had no clue what to do. We finally got our medallions, and went into a bar to get a drink, ordered the drink from a waiter and he took off ...

Not For Me. Good Service. Bad Food and Entertainment.

This was the first time I sailed on Princess. It will also be the last. I used to cruise relatively often and had been on RC several times, NCL, and Disney. But an illness made me afraid to cruise for a long time—maybe 10 years. So I don’t know if things have just changed for the worse in that time or if Princess is just not for me or we had a bad trip. I cruised with my husband, 18 year old ...

I took a chance on Princess and they failed miserably

A little about me... I got hooked on cruising in August of 2022 when I was gifted a 4 night Bahamian cruise on the Disney Wish. Disney was great, but I was looking for something more adult oriented. I chose to cruise the Celebrity Apex and inside less than a year had also cruised Celebrity Constellation and Summit. No one ship or cruise will be perfect, but I was able to easily see that ...

Old Ship

The overwhelming impression of this cruise is that the Caribbean Princess is an old tired ship. This was my first Princess cruise and I was disappointed to find that, unlike Celebrity, Princess does not fully refurbish its ships. Instead it focuses on tech (Princess Medallion) which feels like a gimmick. Most of the spaces look about 15-20 years old with dents, peeling wallpaper, and just old ...

Grand Turk was great! The Rest was ... Fine.

We chose this cruise because my husband is a scuba diver and we heard that Grand Turk was an amazing spot to dive. But there are limited cruise lines that sail to Grand Turk and we wanted a more upscale experience than what we'd heard Carnival offers. There was not a dive excursion offered through Princess, so we booked our own. That was all well and good, it worked out just fine. The real ...

Overhyped and Underdelivered

Too many issues starting with: Cabin set up for 2 singles vs the double we booked--had to get steward to rectify. No fruit or champagne waiting in room upon arrival--steward brought 2 glasses 3 hours after we got in our cabin!!! Medallion app messed up some of our dining reservations. Older ship with far fewer amenities vs. what is provided on there 3 newest ships (e.g. lack casual ...

Lacking in so many areas!

We had heard numerous concerns - engine issues, ac not working in staterooms and common areas - prior to our departure. While we were concerned we hoped all would be well once boarded. The positive: We sailed with our 2 teens and had 2 aft penthouse suites. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, albeit dated. The main dining room was solid fare ( Crown Grill is lackluster with horrible service and ...

Princess cutbacks hurt

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Island Princess

User Avatar

This cruise was quite telling about the degree of cutbacks Princess is implementing trying to regain financial stability at the expense of decreasing the quality of goods and services provided. At first, it did not make too much of a difference in not having any stationary or writing instrument in the cabin but then the soap bars disappeared. Now with the new medallions for the medallion class ...

We were booked onto this cruise as part of a package to visit the south usa rhythm and blues music area. The cruise was to return to the UK by sea. The food was good , the entertainment moderate, the music venues were generaĺy too loud and conversation impossible. There are more or less no quiet areas any more. Luckily the boat was only 2/3 full so generaĺy not over busy. The main ...
