Pockets of good and bad service made the cruise average or less. Good to excellent were the stateroom attendant, bar tenders, casino staff, Steamers upcharge venue (add the lobster and crab for $12 more), and Ray Coussins on piano! Poor were the dining rooms for spotty service and errors in billing drinks; at least the food was good... Also the Ocean Medallion system did not work well except to unlock the stateroom door from 5 feet away. I was hoping to order drinks from any location but it was often not available or hard to get the order right. Food ordered with it arrived dried out and cold. Probably it’s best use was to locate cruise mates who allowed location sharing. The layout of the ship is good with 4 pools to choose from. The itinerary was boring except for swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Holding a ray as big as me made the whole cruise worth it. That said, we’ve decided our next cruise will be an all inclusive medium sized ship like Seabourn offers. Read Less

Do not take the Caribbean Princess at any time for any reason unless you want the worst experience of your lifetime and want to waste your money and time. On our first night on the ship, the dining room was freezing cold. The waiter did not care. One lady at our table asked for a tablecloth and wrapped herself in the tablecloth to keep warm. That was only the start of it. We arrived in the dining room at 5:00 pm and we were not served until 6:30 pm! An hour and a half waiting for our food and freezing at the sane time. That night our room (R736) had a knocking noise every second of every minute of every hour. Still awake at 2:00 am, I called the front desk and asked for help. No one came to our room that night. We called again the next day and asked for a room change. They said nothing was available. That was NOT true, there were plenty of rooms available. We kept asking for a room change and they finally took us to a room on the opposite side, the last room of the long hallway. The next “room” would have been the water!!! I said NO! I did not cause the knocking problem, so why were they treating us like total crap? We paid full price for our cruise. finally, at 8:00 PM, they changed our room on the second night of our cruise. They ran the same music and plays over and over again. There was very little variety of shows on this ship. How disappointing to see the same comedian and the same magician over and over again. We reserved the Sanctuary on the ship, but we quickly found out that their LIFT for scooters is/was broken (and still is broken) for the entire duration of the cruise, so I was only able to hobble up the stairs on Panama Canal Day. The whole reason we booked this ship was 1) to go to The Sanctuary; and 2) to go to the pool by the spa. Well, I couldn’t go to The Sanctuary because of the broken lift and I could not go to the pool by the spa because for most of the cruise, it was NOT filled with water!!!!! The other pools had ladders and this was the only pool with stairs, so having a bad knee, I could not use the other pools and the one pool I could have used did not have water in it. The food was always cold and if you like cold food, you will love this cruise. The prime rib was raw, the lobsters were small, and tonight the strip steak was like shoe leather. Everyone was always complaining about the food. Everyone was getting sick by Wednesday and throwing up and they had vomit bags everywhere!!! I stayed in bed for the day because the ship was so rocky. We heard from crew who said it is always like this on the ship. I’ve been on many other ships and I’ve never ever felt sick at all. There’s more, but you get the idea. We heard that Princess moved half the crew to the new Sky Princess and this crew now is leftovers and newbies that are not trained. I would certainly agree with this because the staff on this ship was not friendly and they were not helpful. We are GOLD level with Princess, so we have been on other Princess Cruises and always had a great time. The wait staff was always friendly and would joke with us. Well, this wait staff was NOT friendly at ALL and they didn’t even give us their first names. The coffee cups were so hot, others at our dinner table burned their hands and/or lips. Everything was cold when it should have been hot and hot when it should have been cold. This was just a mess of a cruise and I highly recommend that if you want to go to the Panama Canal — do NOT take the Caribbean Princess. Stay home and watch a video or take another ship that cares about their customers. We just booked a Disney Cruise and spent $5,700 on this new cruise set for March of 2020. After this horrible cruise on Princess, they will never ever get another dollar of our cruising dollars!!! Read Less

We wanted to see part of the Panama Canal locks. Plus all the ports were places we had not been too. Our first princess cruise. A smaller ship, older crowd but we truly had a wonderful time. It was my husband (45) , myself (44) & my daughter (20). It was a grad from college trip for my daughter! Food was delicious! Entertainment amazing. Loved Project 5 , performances, etc. Buffet was awesome and tonneau of variety and vegetarian options for myself. Pop package was disappointing with only one diet option of Diet Coke. We were used to royal Caribbean any diet flavour. Dining room was great food but not great vegetarian options . Excursions we did 3 with ship and 2 on our own. Short port times in a few places though . Very relaxing cruise as not a lot of activities on board as per our previous cruise experiences on royal Caribbean. Read Less

Crown princess an awkward ship. Tiered cabins horrible for those on lower balconies. But having a balcony is the only way to go if you like fresh air and a private space. Dining rooms were mediocre so stayed with the buffets which were amazing. Average BMI 50 so be forewarned. But good incentive to back away from the buffet. Difficult cruise to be on for seniors who are active and fit. Exceptional staff who for the most part were pleasant and helpful. Will bow out of automatic room gratuity in future and pay our steward and others directly. We payed full price which we knew we were doing but wanted a specific date itinerary and cabin so sucked it up. The whole cruise was nickel and dime you to death which can make you paranoid to spend after a while. Passenger policies not enforced so makes it awkward for those who are trying to play by the rules. Maybe we’re just not princess cruise people Read Less

We postponed an earlier cruise on Princess because of a medical concern for my wife. We had not been on a Princess cruise in a while; and we found out why when we went on this cruise. There was no way that we would consume enough alcohol to make the "package" worth while. However, when we saw the prices of a so-so bottle of wine, we wished that we had not gone on a Princess cruise again. The real complaint was that every one of the balconies above us stuck out far enough that we had absolutely no privacy. Anyone on their balcony could see us as we sat on the balcony chairs and even in the cabin. Also there was so much rust on the ship, you had to be careful not to rub against it as you turned around a corner. The food was mediocre at best. We liked some of the musicians (those who played dancing music). The gym was ok, but the equipment was not well maintained. Internet was terrible. Your Medallian Class required us to completely re do our internet capabilities on our devices. I should never have bought an internet package...it was worthless and the frustration level it caused me was beyond description...and the guy at the internet office could barely speak English...and he spent a total of about 10 minutes trying to get me connected...and I never did. As I said several times before (both on ship and afterwards, I will never go back on Princess Cruises. Oh yeah, we've been on over a year's worth of cruises with Princess. But never again. I want to be taken off your email list. Read Less

I chose the cruise for the ports and these ports of call because we had not been there before. We had cruised on Princess line before and gone on more than 20 cruises in the past, but this time had an exceptional 10 days and the vacation exceeded my expectations. This trip was great for the value we received. Yes, the decor was a little "tired" but the crew and their energy far made up for the old decor. We laughed, we played, we learned new things, we had a great week. I loved the crew and their hard work at keeping the ship clean. The food was exceptional in the dining room. The singers and dancers were excellent. They have a 24 hour International cafe were you can pick up cookies or pastries or desserts or even a light lunch. The medallion made the embarking process super fast. The cooking show with the gallery tour is something not to be missed. Very entertaining and enjoyable. Read Less

We decided to go with a group of friends - one couple very experienced at cruising, and one couple very new. The ports were beautiful and the excursions well run, but the ship is getting uncomfortable due to wear of the uncomfortable furniture. The any time dining was great. The entertainment was excellent (the shows) but the lounge areas had music that was deafeningly loud, leaving your ears ringing and making conversation impossible. We left areas due to loudness a number of times. Service was good. The ship doesn't have a lot of choices for places to be, especially on sea days, but activities that are planned are fun if you don't mind huge crowds. No kids were on this cruise, but we did notice a number of young teens that were really bored. Cabins are uncomfortably small. Beds are too used (soft with divots), but they were clean and our cabin steward was good. Embarkation was very crowded. Furniture in public spaces is horrible - very uncomfortable. Golf putting practice is completely flat - very boring. Food wasn't as good as the last time I was on this ship. I would only go if I was with a group that wanted to be on this particular ship again. Love the medallion aspect of cruising. So convenient. WORST CASINO I've been on yet and we were traveling on a Monopoly Retention cruise. The Tournament was a real joke and very unprofessioinally run. After spending over $10,000 on the slots, I was still paying for my own drinks! All ships also need to get rid of smoking in the casino. Too many malfunctioning machines and casino staff mostly unaccommodating. At least there is a little known service for elite members in the Vista with nice appetizers and drinks each evening. Also surprised that there was just a captains additional cocktail party for repeat passengers as opposed to a brunch . As always the Crown Grill didn[t disappoint, unfortunately the Itialian restaurant did. Dirty glasses and barely warm food. Unable to dock in Cabo due to high winds ans rough seas and the fact that we would have to tender. If you get a chance in Puerta Vallarata to take the snorkel trip with Pedro-THAT WAS FANTASTIC. We chose this cruise partly due to the ship. We were already booked on the Regal Princess for the British Isles in May 2020 and we wanted to learn the ship and evaluate the service. We were pleased and frankly impressed with several areas. First the embarkation and debarkation were the easiest we have experienced on any cruise line. The key to this is to complete all the necessary items to gain your "medallion" before departing home for the cruise. Secondly the ship was impeccably maintained and clean. Stateroom service was outstanding. Communications from the staff and crew was excellent, keeping us informed at all times. The food in the Horizon Court/Bistro was plentiful and good. Great selection for all nationalities. Dinner in the Symphony dining room was good. The selections could have been better but not a deal breaker. One of the highlight of the cruise was the nightly entertainment. The Princess dancers were excellent. The guest entertainers were as well as evidenced by the full auditorium each evening. All in all it was one of the best cruises we have taken. The only detractor was that we had an issue with the shower water temp controls and it took several calls and nearly 24 hrs to get the problem resolved. Great value for money .majority of pessengers ware 50+so it was very quite. Food quality and selection was very good. Shows and bars were well stocked with variety of menu. The entire process of embankment and disembarked process was amazingly efficient. Airport transportation is expensive compared to Uber/Lyft.Avoid that at any cost. Not only it’s expensive but wait time at airport is way more then Uber or Lyft We went to sabatini Italian restaurant which has a $29 cover charge per person. Food was good but price seems to little high compare to food served. Shore excursions were good but if you have little bargain skills you can save up to 50% compare to cruise ship. Most of providers are registered with local authorities and seems safe. As a general rule, simple safety rules to be followed. Do not forget to have some over the counter medicines like Tylenol, cough syrup and pepto bismol in case you need it. It’s available on ships but it’s 4 times expensive then local store. Read Less

We had good experiences with Princes before, not this time. What can I say, fire alarm in the cabin going off every time we took a shower, the phone ringing 20 times afterwards telling us, then people at our door. We finally got moved after 5 days of this, but it took the fun out of our cruise already. The food was mediocre at best, but it seems all cruise lines are just not getting it food wise anymore. We really didn't't get very good info on some of our excursions and one got part of it cancelled, the best part and only a 50% refund The shows were really good, the best part of the cruise Dancing was non existent. One needs to really check out what you are buying excursion wise before you pay, some are really worthless, Hop on Hop off in Cartengena - don't do it, another took us up a dirty, smelly river for an hour. I was a little nervous about this cruise - especially the ship - because of all the crap reviews I had read on cruise critic about it being beat up, old, blah blah blah. Fake news! I actually really liked this cruise. The Island is not brand new but it’s in decent shape. And it also has character, lots of places to escape with a good book, nooks and crannies etc. It did not seem crowded at all, much different from Royal and Regal. They’re both gorgeous ships but almost *too* bright and new and too crowded. Stupid parrot towel clips and unread hardcover books on every deck chair on those - obnoxious! But the Island never seemed that way. The cabin was nice, it was just for me, so plenty of space, balcony was perfect. The bed was amazing - I slept so well! The food was so-so - honestly, it could be improved a bit, as could the variety of items you can have delivered via room service. Was not impressed with the specialty restaurants. The staff overall were very friendly. As a solo traveler, I did feel overlooked by staff at times compared to larger groups that seemed to receive more attention and a higher level of service. Sad! The staff who did go the extra mile got very nice tips. Those who didn’t did not. Such is life. But they almost all got nothing because the only ATM on board has an $8.50 transaction fee, which I would’ve refused to pay because $8.50 = highway robbery. Luckily, my bank covers those charges. The ports of call were fantastic! Colombia was a little edgy but I’m glad I went. Going through the Canal was an incredible experience, and Limon, Costa Rica is gorgeous and welcoming. The shore excursions were all great. Horseback riding in Falmouth, horse and carriage tour in Cartagena, and whitewater rafting in Limon. The crowd on board was old - very few young people. But given the itinerary, I expected this would be the case. It would be nice if Princess tried a little harder to attract a bit younger of a crowd - I’ve been on several of their cruises and this seems to be a theme. Overall though, this was a very good cruise. If you’re on the fence, go for it. You only live once. Read Less

Mediocre ports of call. There is really nothing of interest in these worn out places. The ship overall was very average. Services overall were very average. The real sore point was the dining experiences. Buffets in the Horizon court were ok and average. However, the sit down experiences were terrible. People were friendly, and we were seated quickly enough. With the exception of Italian night the food was subpar. The worst thing however was the incredibly slow service. Sometime we waited 30-45 minutes between courses and that was trying Overall, very disappointing. I had been on quite a few pervious cruises with Princess and a fair number with other cruise lines. My favorites have been adventure cruises, but that is not Princess' area. This cruise did not measure up in any way to any of the decent Princess cruises. If this were my only Princess experience, I would definitely not recommend them or consider for myself in any future dates. Read Less

Relaxing and fun with a couple of speed bumps Ship – The Regal Princess, big, beautiful and clean Staff – Overall very good, bordering on excellent – • Staff callouts: o Karen in the Retreat Pool area – excellent service, about the best we’ve had on 12 or so cruises. o Ahmed in the Retreat Pool area - a close 2nd to Karen. o Magdalana – Front Desk – outstanding follow up and follow through. I’d hire her in a minute. Food - very good • MDR - seems to have the same choices we’ve always had, maybe some updates. • Alfredos – Go! Go on the first day as well, not crowded and excellent. • Buffet –Very good, look around before getting food there’s a bunch of selections. • International Café – excellent • Pizza – the best at sea • Trident Grill – quick and good Shows – Excellent • Cruise Director – Dan, sought feedback and made great suggestions. • Troy Thirgill – comedian – outstandingly funny • Show – Bravo – excellent • Beatle Maniacs – outstanding • Joe Bessler (?) – Piano player and comedian – excellent and very personable Ocean Medallion – Impressive • I had trouble setting it up at home, so I figured they’d have folks to help onsite. They did but they needed to get IT involved which took a couple of days to sort out. • They didn’t have ours ready when we boarded so they needed to make them for us. The only problem was that they didn’t have any one swing by to tell us it would be a few minutes, so we and the other couples were sitting around for 20 minutes waiting for an update. • Loved the ability to see the activities online and order a drink from anywhere (quickly delivered too). Room Steward – not great • We were in cabin L101, huge balcony. Had 2 chairs and a small table. We asked for one of the standard round white tables. She said she’d get us one. It never showed, we asked again, then gave up. • Also in L101, I opened the safe and saw a couple batteries in the safe compartment and discovered that the backing holding the batteries was missing. I mentioned it to the steward. I said if you can’t find a backing, then a couple strips of electrical tape would hold things in place until a backing could be found. She again said she’d take care of it, but never did, asked again, then gave up. I didn’t use the safe because I’d have had bigger issues if the batteries dislodged once the safe was closed, so I hid my money & passports, etc. in my luggage. Not the end of the world, but this needs to be taken care of or someone will have their valuables locked in without a way to open it if the batteries dislodge again. • Along the cruise we’d say hi, but she seemed a bit put out. Maybe she was exceptionally busy. The room was always tidy and other than the aforementioned things, the room was fine. Other – • Cruise Brothers agents were aboard, a bunch of them. They seemed to have had a few get togethers and had a good time. • Gay Cruisers – There was a large Gay community aboard as well. They had several special events for them as well. Including a “Pink Parade”. They were an awesome group to cruise with. Very outgoing and fun, always a smile and quick chat in the elevator. Read Less

Chose this cruise as a short getaway with no flying involved. New Medallion system made embarkation very fast and efficient. The Royal staff was as always very friendly and attentive. The Royal is a nice ship, everything worked - not always true on some of the older ships. But the MedallionNet systemm they hyped so much was very spotty, worked some times and not others. With no enclosed pool on the Royal the pool and the Movies Under the Stars were unused for most of the cruise as it was too cold. Food was very good, food service wonderful (except the first night things seemed very slow). The Horizon buffet breakfast was pretty standard but the evening buffet had a different theme every night -very good. The Cruise Director was the normal hyper-energetic, wisecracking type. Entertainment shows in the main theater were very good, especially the comedian and "The Secret Silk" (which we saw on a Princess cruise last year). As usual, sea days were packed with activities, some of which such as mystery author Joanna Fluke, were surprising. Port days - if you stayed on the ship there was some activities but not as much or as good. Ports - the Muir Woods in San Francisco and the Monterey Aquarium were the highlights. Having visited San Diego numerous times we took it easy there. Ensenada is still a tourist trap as far as we ar concerned. Read Less

Cabin R719....Outstanding Cabin Steward, Michael...Was very attentive and there for us. Wine Maker Dinner was a culinary delight beyond words. Highly recommend this. Chef Table Lumiere....Another amazing culinary delight with wine pairings to please. Crown Grill, as always, was over-the-top in the quality and quantity of food! Sabatinis, enjoyed my appetizers, the wine and that's about all..disappointed in the main course. I found it very bland. It was the seafood wrapped in parchment. Alfredos...Great place to have a quick lunch.... International Cafe is fantastic, great selection of foods anytime of day. Horizon Court...I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was and the wide selections available during the day. The Sanctuary...we were able to rent a cabana at poolside..The service was outstanding and it was an experience that I highly recommend. Well worth the $$. Cruise Director - I was not impressed with him...he needs to be more interactive with the guests and more events on the ship. Loved the MedallionClass. It was a unique experience. We chose this time because it fit into our life’s schedules. The standards set, and met by Princess Cruise LInes are extremely high. This cruise met those standards and our expectations in every way. The entertainment was world class, both in the Princess Theater and the Piazza. The cruise director, Daniel Falconer, put an absolutely amazing itinerary of entertainment together on a daily basis. (Troy Thirdgill, a comedian, and John Bressler, pianist, were our favorite individual entertainers). The shore excursions were exciting for us, but we could’ve used more beach time. (Like an entire day!). Our stateroom steward, Luis, could not have been any more attentive to our needs. We never did “anytime” dining in the past, but tried it this cruise, and were very pleased that it went as smoothly as it did. We had no negative experiences and won’t hesitate to go Princess Cruise Lines again! We’re already planning an Alaskan cruise, and were able to get information, and assistance from the staff, on that cruise. Read Less

My fiancèe and I love to cruise. We have cruised with Carnival and Norwegian. Now we saw this awesome itinerary that featured places we've never been from top to bottom. Now we get to the check in point. The old man was rude and grumpy I asked a question and he summoned up his most bitter NO that he could find within. We looked at each other and said nothing because we were at the final stop before vacationing into bliss. Not one greeting did we receive as we boarded the ship. What we did receive were shocked appalled stares from other passengers. We are minorities in our 30's. The median age on the ship had to be 67. Now everywhere we go people look at us like we are pariahs. We go into calypso to buy items and it took forever the cashier had to figure out prices on notebook and then key them on register. So I don't like the cruises private islands, to me you might as well stay on the ship. So I was stopped by the metal detector three times. Now the lady who is at the card reader gives a weird look and the metal detector goes off. So the guy with wand is talking to me as if he knows this is wrong but he's just doing his job. While on deck 15 walking to get a snack a repair man pushing a cart doesn't wait until we pass or say excuse me he just drives in between us not breaking stride. So a buffet employee just brushes in between my fiancèe and another woman so my fiancèe has to lift her plate so he doesn't push it into her stomach. No excuse me or pardon me just impolite. He comes back through again but now he can go through with ease. I make the comment about the rudeness to my girlfriend and he looks back at me with a oh man I messed up look. Still no apology. The stateroom had stained towels bathrobes and pillowcases. Now the stains were face up, as soon as you look at the bed I see stains on the pillowcase. I threw it on the floor they cleaned room left the dirty one. So I took the case off and threw it in with the wet towels from the shower. It was replaced then. We go in effy and not one greeting not one offer for help. The cashier did not acknowledge us so we kept our money in our pockets. We go back to calypso for earbuds and the cashier while having a general conversation with someone else doesn't greet us and watches us like a hawk. 6 locations visited and we were offered a photo one time only. It's like we're low class peasants and nobody acknowledged our existence. We spent $5000 on this trip and other than good food at the buffet it was a waste of time. I would not recommend any young people or any American born minorities on that cruise ship. It felt tense at times like we didn't belong in that realm. There was no thank you on disembark day just scan your card and go. The crew needs diversity training I feel like the crew is just as bad as the passengers which leads me to believe that is the atmosphere that is cultivated on the ship. I hope others come out and be honest about their experiences on the crown princess. Something has to change and it needs to happen before an altercation happens. Read Less

Weeks before the cruise I spent hours setting up the Medallion Class and Ocean Ready applications on four cell phones so that my parents (in D514), my husband and I could communicate and utilize the newest technology during the cruise. The application never worked for either of my parents or my husband. I was only able to view the stateroom charges the first 3 days of the cruise and then nothing worked on either app. The weeks leading up to the cruise, when logged into the Princess website it stated that we could get on the ship at 10:00AM. When we checked in, we were told that we would have to wait until 11:15AM. When we boarded the ship we were told that the rooms would not be ready until 1:00PM. Therefore, we did not leave the public areas until 1:00PM. We later asked the stateroom attendant when he had to have the rooms ready during turnover and we were informed that staterooms are ready at 11:00AM. We had been awake since 12:30AM for travel that day to Fort Lauderdale and getting to the room for a nap would have been nice when we boarded. Upon entering our room D518 there were dirty towels on the balcony which I had to get housekeeping to remove. When we met our housekeeper for the first time I tipped him $20 as I enjoy the towel animals and requested them in our stateroom. When we did not receive an animal the first couple of nights, my husband tipped the stateroom attendant another $20 in order to get nightly towel animals in the room. During the entire 10 night cruise we received two towel animals for the $40. Although the towel animals were very detailed and we enjoyed them, we do not tip that kind of money for 2/10 nights for something we enjoy so much when cruising. Missing from our room when we arrived was the dining assignments card. The first night of the cruise, we had no idea where to go for anytime dining until other guests mentioned the card that was in their room. We returned to our room, asked my parents (D514) to check their room and neither of us received it. We had to go to customer service to get the information on where to eat. Later we noticed that our shower drain would start backing up after a few minutes of showering. The issue became worse so we had to have maintenance come in and fix the issue. Half way through the cruise our showerhead wouldn’t stay upright no matter what we did so we ended up wrapping the emergency pull cord around it to get it to stay up. The D514 stateroom on the morning of 10 November had to take a cold shower during the 7:00AM hour because there was not hot water available in the shower or sink. My parents stated that several mornings they were subjected to cold showers early in the morning, as they did not have hot water in their shower or in their sink. Prior to booking the cruise, we contacted Princess about their staterooms and amenities as we were comparing cruise ships and staterooms. We were never informed that the Crown Princess had tiered balconies. We paid a lot of money for a mini-suite, we could have purchased a balcony on Celebrity with the same square footage, that would have cost us less money and provided us with more perks. We never would have booked such a room had we of been informed. Our balcony had zero privacy, deck ten could look down and see the entire balcony. The balconies were also very unsafe as the handles to the balcony staterooms do no prevent a lock out. If one guest were on the balcony and another is in the stateroom and turns the handle ever so slightly the door is locked and the guest on the balcony is stranded. The bathroom plugs would not support any American electronics, not an electronic toothbrush charger, not a hair dryer, not a phone charge or even an extension cord for these items. The only thing that it would support was a nightlight. During the evacuation drill we were sitting in the lounge area where the employees were directing people into the lounge and failed to continually warn them about the steps up into the lounge area. There were four guests that fell just during the short time we were sitting there. The employees would yell muster station 7, watch your step and then another 30 people would walk in before they warned them to watch their step again, another person would fall. Someone could have been seriously injured. After the drill, we went to the customer service desk to check on a significant football game and whether it would be available somewhere, anywhere on the ship. I told the gentlemen that the game was being broadcasted on CBS at 3:30PM on Saturday 9 November and that it was LSU ranked #1 and Alabama ranked #3. The employee did some research and stated that if it was a big game like we mentioned than they would be showing it somewhere on the ship possibly the casino or available in our stateroom. Saturday (day at sea) arrived, dozens of guests were wondering if the ship was going to play the game. I went to the customer service desk that morning and asked. The employee stated that they do not get CBS and handed me the NFL game schedule that they would be broadcasting on Sunday. I argued with her that we were told Thursday the game would be available somewhere on the ship. She claimed to have contacted headquarters and claimed that she emailed the cruise director. She stated that if I returned at 1:30PM she would have an answer for me. When I returned she stated that it would not be available. After being lied to by Princess yet again, I had to pay $20 for Wi-Fi to stream the game on my phone. The first cocktail that I ordered at the bar on deck 16 next to the smoking section I asked the waiter for a straw and what the charge would be for the drink. The waiter disappeared and never returned. We enjoy the typical fruity cruise drinks like Pina Coladas, when ordering these drinks they were given in cocktail glasses with paper straws. The straws were not even long enough to reach the bottom two inches of the drink. We eventually had to order them in juice cups so that we could finish our $10 cocktails. The smoking section on deck 16 should state that there are no children allowed. There was a couple that had a 5-year-old sitting in the smoking section and eating breakfast every morning. The ashtrays in the smoking section on deck 16 are the cheapest thing on the market, other cruise lines have windproof ashtrays so that non-smoking guests are not subjected to unwanted ash and smoke that are inexpensive. We attended the Horizons for lunch after boarding the ship for lunch and again later the first day of the cruise for dinner. On two separate occasions on the first day of the cruise the dining room ran out of silverware and cups. On that note, why is the silverware wrapped and on tables, what if you want to take food to your room, you are expected to eat with your hands? The silverware set up is absurd, we have never seen this before and it was a huge inconvenience the entire cruise not just for us but we witnessed other passengers having the same issue. We were looking forward to the juice selection at the buffet in the morning as we do every cruise and it was terrible. There were two options, orange or apple, the orange juice was disgusting it was filled with so much pulp. The juice was handed out in glasses not much bigger than shot glasses so you had to continue to flag waiters down for a refill. In addition, the juice was only available at breakfast so you only had water and tea to drink the rest of the day. The milk was only available in a spout instead of small cartons like other cruise lines, so if you wanted cold milk it was hit or miss. If you wanted to take milk out onto the pool deck or in your room, you had your hands full trying not to spill it. When entering the Horizon buffet from the pizza café, the first drink station you see on the right, the ice/water machine was broken the entire cruise and water and ice were available in jars, which ran out all the time. The omelet station was another ridiculous system that Princess needs to revamp. The first time it took 20 minutes to get the omelet, we could not pick the omelet up a waiter had to continually check on the status, and the order was never correct. One morning the omelet station ran out of all cheese except Swiss, who in the world has Swiss on an omelet. Just outside of Horizons buffet, we were eating lunch by the pizza place when two employees with white button down shirts started to reprimand a female waitress employee in front of guests. The two male employees kept going back and forth lecturing the girl who looked like she was going to break out in tears at any moment in front of dozens of guests. It was utterly unprofessional, I’ve never seen anything like it before on vacation. We dined often in the Da Vinci dining room when we did not have a late excursion. The Da Vinci dining room requires pants, a nice shirt, and if jeans are worn they cannot have holes. The second night a gentlemen came in with jeans torn up and down and an Affliction t-shirt on like he was attending a night club. But I guess since his female companion was in a dress they allowed them to dine in Da Vinci. Another night we noticed the couple in their 20’s occupying table 471 in Da Vinci were in lounge clothes. The male had sneakers, basketball socks pulled up to his knees, basketball shorts on and a t-shirt. It was so shocking I couldn’t even remember what the female was wearing. Why have dining room attire standards if you aren’t going to hold guests accountable. Movies under the stars were a huge disappointment. This was the ONLY reason we decided to give Princess a try as friends and family had bragged about watching movies in the loungers with blankets, cookies and milk, and popcorn. There were no cookies and milk provided. There was popcorn made but it was not handed out, it was placed in bags in a basket next to the bar. Had I have not gone to the bar for a beverage I would have never known about it. The popcorn was barely edible as it was old and stale. Movies being played at prime times on the big screen by Calypso Pool were for children and families. Does Princess even take into consideration the age of those booked in their staterooms? Families possibly totaled 5% of the entire ship on this sailing, why weren’t adult movies that were on the demand stateroom system played on the big screen. Extremely disappointed. During the two days at sea that the four of us spent by the Neptune pool there were ZERO waiters/waitresses walking around to order a drink from. We had to continually go to the bar for service. At least the third day at sea we sat at Calypso pool and there was service there. When entering the elevator area from the stairs on deck 9 and making a left to hit up or down on that elevator, the buttons do not work. Then, the fact that the far two elevators are on separate operating systems where you have to hit the up or down button on both is ridiculous. The elevator that takes you to deck 16 by the pool bar was broken the entire cruise. The sliding doors by the Neptune pool were in and out of service the whole cruise. Public area restroom by the casino had a sink out of order. I felt like I was on a low-budget cruise line like Carnival but with an older, less-rowdy crowd. This was the first cruise in 14 years of cruising (my parents have been cruising 34 years) that we did not attend an evening show. There were several times we went by to see if it would peak our interest but each time after reading the description and other guests talking about it we were not interested. Our last cruise on the Celebrity Equinox we attended 8 shows on a 10 night cruise and all were excellent. While the ship was in port, the air conditioning throughout the ship in public areas was turned off. It was horrible when returning to the ship expecting to cool off and it is just as hot walking around the ship public areas as outdoors. I understand trying to save money but this was ridiculous. Princess should be embarrassed by all the corners they cut and embarrassed by the outside appearance of the ship. There was so much rust we noticed when walking alongside the ship when in port. There was also rust on the tile by the hot tubs, around the balconies, it seems that every ship we saw in port that was not ours look brand new compared to the condition of the Crown. So many other guests were pointing out how nice the Celebrity, Viking, Disney and Princess ship next to us looked when in port. I have never experienced a ship that was rocking so out of control. It took my husband and I a week after returning home for the feeling that we were moving to end. The two days at sea returning the ship rocking was out of control. The stabilizers either need to be updated, maintenance performed, be replaced or something else done. Nowhere is the ships location within the Caribbean displayed on the ship so we could not understand why the ship was going so fast and putting guest’s health safety at risk. I have cruised a dozen times and never had this issue before. When doing laundry on ninth deck had issues with the coins. When we called customer service via the phone button labeled as such which routed to a guests personal room. The pool activities were canceled for the entire second day at sea. There should be a backup for entertainment when the ship is rocking too much for scheduled activities. There was not even music being played on the speakers. You have hundreds of people by the pool for entertainment, and no entertainment. I guess when the cruise gets past the halfway point Princess has told their stateroom attendants to only provide clean towels and linens to save money because neither D514 nor D518 received toilet paper or tissues napkins in stateroom. The last night of the cruise, we had to search for assistance to get some. There are usually refills supplied in the rooms. Every single port we visited we were late arriving and leaving the port early. Why are we paying so much money for these stops to be cut short. There were times when we were 30-45 minutes late getting off the ship (first wave) and we were told we had to be back at the ship 30-45 minutes prior to the ship departing. Completely ludicrous. Princess website: “We selected only the most reputable companies available to provide your excursions. The companies providing your excursions are selected by Princess based on their excellent reputation for service and safety.” The tender process at Princess Cay seemed as though a brand new cruise line, with brand new employees were implementing a brand new system by how terrible the process went. With no exaggeration it took us an hour from getting off the elevator to get to Princess Cay. Then our trip was cut short as we were told we had to be back on the ship at 4:15PM when the ship was not leaving until 5:00PM. So two hours of our day was wasted. Then when we got off the tender there was no one directing us on where we could go, whether one side or the other was open, what amenities were provided, it was unreal. At the cookout lunch they ran out of food and didn’t care that guests were still coming by to eat. The bars closed hours before departure and guests were stuck without beverages. It was a horrible first stop. In St Lucia we purchased two tickets for SLU-320B for $69.95 each to participate in the volcanic island experience and mud bath. This by far out of numerous cruises over 14 years has been the worst excursion I have ever booked and we book an excursion at every port. In the description it says the scenic drive goes through two traditional fishing villages. This tour does not as it ends up at some point where the drivers buddy can try to get money from guests in their little shops that overlook from afar these villages. Description on Princess website states we descend into Soufriere which is deceiving since we really wanted to stop and see the black sand beach of Soufriere and we got nowhere close to it. Princess says the mineral baths are oozing with mud which was a lie as we applied mud from a 5 gallon bucket. Website says we will stop briefly at Marigot Bay and we stopped a mile from it at an overlook in which I can provide my photographs to prove such. Nowhere in the notes or medical restrictions does it mention the aggressive and terribly long drive it is for this excursion. We were in a vehicle for 4 hours making “hair pin turns” every 50 yards with 40 mph in between. This tour was the first time in 36 years on the earth that we have ever gotten carsick. After the first stop I had to ride in the front. My husband had to take anti-nausea medication. Another guest on the same bus had the driver pull over to vomit. Had we of known that we would be in the vehicle for 4 hours of a 5 hour tour we would have never considered it. We stopped by the excursion desk to receive a refund and of course, no one was there on every occasion. In Barbados we purchased two tickets for BGI-820A for $64.95 to snorkel with turtles and enjoy the beach. This was a good excursion, Barbados was beautiful. However, Princess claims that the companies providing these excursions are selected for their safety reputation which was not the case on this excursion. The Captain of the boat allowed a guest to drive the boat who had no boating experience. The Captain then left the helm and went downstairs. The guest sitting in the Captain’s chair started freaking out as the boat veered out to sea. I promptly grabbed the wheel and steered it back towards land and the Captain came back up after she realized the boat was going astray. The Captain also admitted that she did not know how to dock the boat after I asked what slip she was pulling into. She pulled the boat alongside another tour boat and the ropes were tied together to unload passengers. We had to climb onto another boat in order to then climb onto the dock to depart. In Antiqua we purchased two tickets for ANU-880A for $74.95 each to kayak, observe Bird Island, snorkel, visit the beach and hike. The excursion was listed as 4.5 hours in which it lasted over 5 hours and we were late getting back to the port. Kayaking was listed as 45 minutes and nowhere does it state on Princess website that the kayak portion is guided. The guide took us about 100 yards through the water, not the mangroves, looked for sea creatures to show guests, didn’t find anything and had us return. Kayaking did not even last 30 minutes and a portion of that was wasted while the guide assisted unsuitable guests back in their kayaking after falling out. Guide didn’t even take us by the mangroves until the last 50 feet when returning. If Princess lists this excursion as strenuous and suitable for the most active passengers in excellent physical condition then why is the excursion desk allowing people to book this tour to those clearly obese and elderly. Princess states that the companies providing the tour have an excellent reputation for safety, well I had to say something to the driver of the boat because it was a very small boat of maybe 22 feet filled to capacity with guests and he drove the overloaded boat into large waves that were not safe. This is coming from two people who own a boat, have attended the United States Coast Guard boating safety course and have obtained a boating license. The guide then turned the boat around, and decided that 50 yards away was the spot to snorkel. It was so unsafe that I didn’t even get out of the boat. The waves were so intense that guests were being pushed against the boat. Then the boat transporting the other passengers was tied to the same buoy. As guests were getting off one of the boats came untied and started drifting into snorkeling guests. They couldn’t start the engine and create further risks and continued to jeopardize the safety of guests. Also, on the ticket for the excursion it stated that water shoes were required, not recommended as it states on Princess’ website. So when we pulled into port we had to go purchase water shoes to prevent being turned away from the tour. When we arrived no one had water shoes and our money was wasted. Princess should refund us not only for the tour but also the water shoes that we did not need as we have a pair back home. When we received the final bill it stated that we could not receive any money back after we left the ship. So we went to shore excursion desk again to complain about our deceitful excursions again and no one was there to provide assistance. Customer service stated that it is not something that they can address and has to be handled by shore excursions representative. We paid for this cruise and received less. Last cruise was also a 10 day cruise, we paid less than the Crown, and we received the drink package, free Wi-Fi, pre-paid gratuities and room credit. For us to pay $3868 for the cruise and $789 for excursion for the gigantic list of issues we encountered, we should receive a refund of some sort. It is sad to say that there were only three good things to say about the Crown Princess. The food was good, the beds were nice, and our Da Vinci dining staff were excellent. Jeanette the junior waitress, Francis the assistant waiter, Stanford the waiter, Puja the hostess, and Rui the head waiter were all amazing. Francis went above and beyond and always had our ice tea waiting for us without having to order right after we were seated. Stanford had a great sense of humor always helping us pronounce entrees correctly and made great recommendations. The service at Da Vinci was the only good thing we looked forward to each day. We did have 2 balcony cabins on deck 10 Caribe. Embarkation was swift and without a problem. The cabins, what to say about the cabins. The wear and tear is visible all over. The floors of the balconies were full of rust, paint spatters all over. Modern travelers carry with them a multitude of electric equipment, like phones and tablets. There is no way to charge them. There are 2 outlets hidden under the hair drier. If you use one you can't use the other. (See picture). So you ending up permanently trying to charge your electric equipment. The beds are good. But the cabins are really in for a refurbishment and a major one too. The best thing about the ship is the crew, in general friendly and helpfull. The food is at best very very average, sometimes even below par. Variation is minimal, certainly at the buffet. The any time dining was just OK, but also here the choices are minimal. The buffet certainly on the sea days is crowded, but still they keep the buffet at the 2nd part of the horizon closed. The first part is crowded so you have to walk to the second part for any seating at all. Lemonade is only available from the waiting staff, why? This is sooo slow! Entertainment, never experienced it so bad. The show in the theater "Blame it on the boogie" is 32 minutes!! All the other shows are also very short ones. Is in and out again. There was no change of the music, so after hearing the same band for 3 days on 3 different stages you've heard their repertoire, but you have to go for another 7 days with them. Fitness, 5 running machines were broken during the whole cruise. In the mornings allways very crowded. For what you have to pay this is a poor quality. I compare it with Norwegian and Celebrity and Princess is losing this here on most areas. Our first Princess Cruise but definitely the last Read Less

Ship is in need of repairs!!!!!! Rugs coming up all over the ship. Brass railings and elevators need major repairs. All the elevators are scrapped up and look like they were used as freight elevators. Balcony has excessive rust and not cleaned between cruises. Balcony table was pitted and paint peeling. Broken drawer handles in the cabin. Drawers hard to open and close. Broken door closer in bathroom. Mold found in the shower. First night i found feces ( skid mark)on the comforter. Ordered things for the cabin and the room steward never brought it. I ordered a bottle of wine and it was left without a corkscrew or glasses. The wifi was absolutely horrible. Cuts out in the middle if texting or streaming video. Medallion class connection only worked about half the time. There was a refrigerated display case in the international cafe that was broken and water leaking all over ,it took them 5 days to even start repairs. There were a few very good things. Food was very good in main dinning and exceptional in the crown gill and sabatini's a;ong with the service there. Read Less

I selected this cruise because of the good itinerary. I enjoyed all destinations. My problem was with the Crown Princess ship and services. The food was the worst I’ve experienced on any cruise. Everything is very controlled. Only option for beverage in cafeteria for self serve is water or ice tea. There is a sign stating you can request lemonade from a server. And then you stand there and wait while they run in back. No juice dispensers as I’ve experienced on other cruises and not offered at breakfast. Only coffee is suggested. Ship is very dated with limited amenities. Ship very run down especially Furniture and balcony and pool deck chairs. Very uncomfortable. The spa never returned my requests. Staff doesn’t know where anything is. I never had one server on pool deck ask if I wanted a beverage. I guess now they assume you will just go up to the bar and wait in line. Food in anytime dining was disappointing. Everything served barely warm in temperature and lack of flavor. No salt on anything. Mostly the same food ingredients just repurposed and made a different way. All the best seating is reserved for Elite passengers even if no one shows up to sit at the table. Read Less

I like the southern Islands, and the weather is great this time of year. The boarding was great, we went right on the ship at 11am. The Crown is a bit aged, and did wobble a bit, even though seas were not rough. I was not impressed with desserts on ship especially at lunch buffet. A sheet cake or brownie would have been far better than what they were serving. I was not impressed with having to sit, order and wait for lemonade or ice tea. The pizza was great, but hamburgers came frozen from box, hot dogs were good. I was happy and surprised that they had on demand movies for free in stateroom. There were a lot of activities listed but felt like there was very little to do. Casino slots were not very generous, it's just not fun to lose a hundred in a few minutes with no return. I don't really care for singers and dancers, which seemed to be what they mainly had in princess theater. I would prefer comics, magic, or juggling. They did have comedians but mainly in small venue with limited seating. The medallion system showed promise but was clunky, and only seemed to work on 1000 dollar phones. The islands and beaches were amazing and we'll worth visiting. The price was great but we were inside, tried for upgrade. Ship did not seem near full but they insisted there were no upgrades, even for upcharge. Disembarkation was disorganised, we took a tour at Fort lauderdale. We were told were to get luggage then sent back into line with rest of passengers disembarking ship. This caused tour to get going an hour late.[ Read Less

We decided to go 3 days prior to departure. No problem at all with check in. Traveling with 2 seniors. They do not have the medallion system working as well as it should. It was also useless for the seniors who are not into technology or smart phones. That did become an issue. Princess needs a backup plan for those seniors. We asked for no down feathers in the room and for 3 days we kept removing them every night. The ship had nothing interesting until the last 2 days of the cruise. On board entertainment was boring except for 1 comedian. After the first bingo game on the tables they brought back the paper cards. Food was better than previous cruises. One thing about the buffet, I am very allergic to shellfish and shrimp was on every section of the buffet. People were being relied upon to not cross contaminate, but that was a failure. I personally witnessed it happening many times with the serving utensils. Embark and dear went very well. Read Less
