We were a family of nine and we chose this cruise because it fit into everyone's schedule. Next time we will not leave from Ft. Lauderdale. More than half the guests were seniors which meant that there weren't many things for children to do on board. The food was okay. I liked the food better on our first Royal Caribbean cruise. There weren't many dairy free dessert options. The staff, however, were pretty cool. I had a pretty nasty indecent with a sales associate in the Effy jewelry store on the ship and it wasn't addressed by management. Outside of that incident the staff on the Caribbean Princess were pretty good. The pizza spot, Slice, makes incredibly delicious pizza. The coffee shop/ice cream bar was good at delivering cones but it seemed like everyone assigned to the coffee bar was figuring it out. The ship seemed dated but clean. It was only my second cruise so perhaps all ships look dated. There was a sewage smell that we smelled often that was off putting nut I guess that is the price you pay on a ship. I probably won't cruise on Princess for a very long time because fo the racist incident I experienced and since there are other options but it was an experience. Read Less

It was very boring if you are not 60 years old and looking to relax in the middle of the sun on the boat. The best part of the whole cruise was stopping at one of the 3 ports, St. Thomas. The other two ports, Princess Cay and St. Maarten, were not great and i would have rather spent that time in St. Thomas. The food on the boat was decent. The drinks were very expensive and the wifi was INCREDIBLY expensive. My little sister has fun in the teen area but my youngest sister was often bored when not in the kids club. I was bored a lot on the boat. The staff was pleasant though and worked very hard. Our cabin steward was not the best but my moms cabin steward was a lot worse. The staff in the teens and kids area was pleasant and my siblings liked them. The cruise director is fun but the activities that he led were kind of boring if you’re younger. I enjoyed the Marriage Match game. Read Less

I booked Princess because of the reputation of service and quality I am not kidding when I say the majority of staff had attitude our room was Dirty, found shoes in the bathroom (not ours). Work Was done on balcony they left a mess and the steward did not clean it. We are also nickel and dimes for everything We also had a prepaid dinner in the paid restaurant. We went to book in the steakhouse and was told they were all booked and we could eat in the seafood restaurant. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there wasn’t one and I didn’t have a choice Princess, I DO have a choice. There are many other cruise lines out there. If you think Princess will give you great service, think again. Chose Celebration The rooms are great. We had a mini suite Other passengers felt the same as us Read Less

I've been waiting 50 years to go on a cruise and I hate to say that I picked the wrong ship and the wrong cruise line. The size of our mini-suite was great and the beds were comfortable but the furniture was rather outdated and worn. The couch was a tired green with a few holes and the furniture on the balcony needed an upgrade. The food in the buffet was worse than Golden Corral and there was very little entertainment on the ship. The three sea days we were bored to tears and ended up watching movies in our room each night. I guess if you are 75 or older you might enjoy this cruise with nightly Bingo and knitting classes or playing cards on deck but my daughter and I were so disappointed because we had heard and seen videos from friends who have been on cruises and were told of all the deck parties and all the fun activities on the ships. We never saw any or maybe if we would have known that there was a LGBT convention we would have picked another cruise because there were tons of activities for them or if we had known that 90% of the passengers were over the age of 70, we would have picked another cruise. I wish I could say that the dining was at least good, but I can't. The table we had assigned to us for the whole cruise each night sat over one of the engines I guess, because the whole table and all of our chairs shook every night except one and that is because we were still docked in St. Thomas. There were several menu choices each night but the food was just ok. I had again heard stories about how wonderful the food is on a cruise and how you come back home with a few extra pounds and I can honestly say that I didn't. Our two wait staff that we had for the week were super nice though. I have to give them credit for that. Siti and Dadang were great. The service on deck and out by the pool area was not so great. If you wanted a drink while sun bathing you had to go and get it yourself because there was never anyone walking around asking if you wanted a drink. Also if you decided to grab a slice of pizza, which by the way was the best thing I ate all week and needless to say we ate sliced pizza every day, you could never find anyone to bring you a glass of water or iced tea. It would have been nice if they would have at least had some sort of beverage stations set up around the ship to get a drink without having to pay $10 for an alcoholic one. I believe half the trip I was dehydrated from lack of water. Oh and let me fore-warn you to NOT TAKE PART IN THE TEETH WHITENING in the LOTUS SPA. WHAT A RIP OFF. We got suckered into it because we were told upfront that the cost would be $129 each for teeth whitening that would last 2 to 3 years. Well, after the process was done, you then get told that for it to last 2 to 3 years you have to pay an additional $249. WOW. So the $129 that I just paid is only good for a few days! So I broke down and bought the additional packets that were $49 for 12 treatments, which I was told was only good for 1 week of whitening AND WHEN I GET MY CREDIT CARD PRINTOUT THE GUY TAKES IT UPON HIMSELF TO ADD A $39 TIP. WOW was all I could say. The only good part about the whole cruise was the ports we visited. That was what I was most looking forward to was seeing the beautiful blue waters and that did not disappoint. We enjoyed a nice bus tour of St. Thomas and we had a great time walking through all the shops and open markets of St. Maarten. I will say that come Saturday morning, the day we got back to Ft. Lauderdale, I was up at 5am and ready to get off the ship! At least if you carry your own luggage off, you can disembark at 7:30 instead of waiting until 8:30 or in some cases 9:30 depending on what floor you were on. If I ever decide to go on another cruise I will certainly do more homework of the ship and will probably chose Royal Caribbean for sure! Read Less

All I can say is shame! Corporate must be very greedy, not to want to maintain the Crown Princess, an older ship that looked like it clearly needed cosmetic work. The pool areas were a fright, rust stains were visible around the stairs going to the hot tub, around the shower area, the woodwork looked dry and worn. Trying to connect to the internet was a migraine headache, you could not get connected. Every time I attempted to access the Internet I found that I had to go back to my Wi-Fi settings and connect to Crown Princess. I gave up trying to access my emails. I was losing all my minutes and hadn’t even read a single email. The food was mediocre at best and the selection was always the same… no creativity no variety. The soup of the day was the same soup every day, potato soup. Budding club class dining they had clam chowder. I thought that will be nice something different, but it was nothing more but the potato soup with some diced clams and I’m guessing a little pepper and seasoning but the base of the soup was the potato soup. I won’t go into detail about the bathroom in my Club Class mini suite, just say that it had not been properly cleaned. I travel alone so I’m always paying for two people, yet the maintenance and consumption for one. I was more than disappointed and feel that the entire experience was unacceptable. Read Less

This was our first time on a Princess cruise and we won’t be rushing back! Travelled from the UK and wish we’d had a better experience to take away with us. The quality and choice of food was very mixed. The best meal we had was at the Crown Grill but obviously we had to pay a supplement. The food and service in the Island Restaurant was again mixed, on some evenings the service was incredibly slow. American passengers that we spoke to at meal times, who were seasoned Princess cruisers, even commented on how the food had deteriorated considerably. If this ship has had a recent makeover then I would have thought that the interior would have been given a more contemporary feel. There is so much dark wood on board it makes you feel as though you’re in an old fashioned pub! I also didn’t think that the ship had that “newly decorated “ feel to it and it was so old fashioned. We booked a suite for extra comfort and space but there was a considerable amount of vibration throughout the cabin. Whenever we were docking the whole cabin, including cupboards and wardrobes, vibrated loudly. There was zero chance of a lie in as we docked around 7am nearly every day. Some passengers commented that the ship was due to go in for engine repairs due the the excessive vibration. Although the entertainers are obviously very talented their repertoire was so repetitive. We tended to visit the Wheel House Bar to meet up with friends and you could predict the selection of songs. Exactly the same could be said for the Skywalker club. Not sure what qualifications are required for a cruise DJ but I would’ve expected that knowledge of a wide variety of types of music and songs would be of particular importance but it was dreadful. They had a “British Invasion” hour one evening and the DJ had no idea who Queen or E.L.O were! She played the same songs every evening! It became a standing joke between us as to when she would play the B52’s, Billy Idol or the Cha Cha Slide again! She didn’t engage at all with her audience and knew how to clear a dance floor! On a more positive note, most of the staff worked really hard and were very obliging and helpful. The island stops were excellent with some beautiful scenery although we saved a lot of money arranging our own tours once ashore. There are lots of drivers touting for business and they are mostly run by big companies but lots cheaper than those offered onboard. Sadly overall we were disappointed in our holiday and left the ship feeling quite low and glad to be going home. Normally on exiting a cruise we are desperate to book our next one, think we’ll have a break for a while and hope it hasn’t put us off too much. Read Less

We sat at a table with 4 pleasant strangers. Aside from one dinner of sliced tenderloin, none of us were impressed with the food. The lobster was small and extremely salty. Usually I request a second tail but it was so salty that none of us requested more even though we were still hungry. The waiter and helper were wonderful! Always attentive to our slightest need. The salt and lime glow scrub in Spa was lovely. The trouble began on departure day. Our room would not get cool. We asked housekeeping to fix it but our cabin steward said he needed to call maintenance/engineering to fix it so we went to dinner. Back to cabin after dinner and still hot in cabin. We waited about an hour at least for someone to come fix it and then I called the desk to ask when someone would be here to fix it. I was told the request had been closed out; that someone had fixed it. I told her that it was not working. Then our cabin steward contacted his supervisor and someone came to work on it. STILL HOT IN OUR CABIN! Finally I went to the main desk and started crying because they had not fixed the AC and sweat was pouring off my husband’s face as he sat and tried to read a book. Finally, someone from the front desk brought us a fan. (WHILE AT FRONT DESK THERE WAS another person complaining about their hot cabin at the same time I was!) I was told someone would fix it the next day BUT IT WAS HOT FOR 5 DAYS.!!!!!!! At least we had a fan. Now I asked for some compensation for having a cabin with no AC but the manager at the desk treated me like a total liar!!!!!She acted like since I did not complain daily, that the problem was fixed. THIS IS AREALLY CRAPPY WAY to treat a paying customer. Even tho we are now at the Platinum level, I never want to sail Princess again. Holland America and RC here we come! Read Less

Having cruised previously on other lines, we thought we were upgrading to Princess for our cruise to the Eastern Carribean this year. The ship is satisfactory with many signs of wear including loose and missing tiles on the bathroom floor within our suite and rusted and degraded railings on our balcony. My biggest concerns come from the food and the customer service. The food on Princess is sub-par at best. While breakfast was decent, the lunch and dinner buffets were disappointing night after night. The options were random, the quality of the food poor, the salad bar, if you could call it that, was almost non-existent, and I couldn't find a roll or piece of bread the entire week that wasn't hard as a rock. The Salty Dog Burger wasn't any better, I ordered a veggie burger that was inedible and my fiance wouldn't eat his cheeseburger either. The ice cream shop was, quite frankly, awful, unless you paid for a specialty milkshake or ice cream sandwich, in which case they used actual ice cream from a different cooler!! But my biggest complaint would be the customer service from the crew. We could not find someone who spoke English well enough to understand easily. On Thursday (a sea day) we were woken up before 9am by someone banging a hammer for over 30 minutes. Later that day, our cabin started to smell like sewage. I called the front desk who informed me that they would send someone to check it out. An hour later, nobody had come to our room so we went to the front desk. The attendant told us someone was working on the issue. Would it have been that hard for someone to call our room and tell us that? No customer service. On Friday morning we were again woken at 845 by the hammering. This time I called the front desk and they sent someone to our room a half hour later. The hammering was still going on, so he heard it, and his answer was that maintenance didn't inform guest services about the work. We paid 3k for a suite to relax on our cruise, not be woken up early by maintenance two days in a row. And, as a business owner myself, the response of guest services was pathetic... Overall will not cruise with Princess again, it is not worth the money. Read Less

My wife and I booked a last minute cruise for just a relaxing get-away. We booked just a little over a week before the sail date. Our goal was to get-away, relax, enjoy the sea and let someone else do the cooking. The embarkation and disembarkation was smooth as could be expected. For the disembarkation we opted for the EZCheck program. The EZCheck program enables you to put your luggage out the night before disembarkation, as you normally would, but the luggage is taken direct to the airline and you pick up your luggage at your destination if you are flying. This was absolutely great and we will do it anytime we fly (sometimes we drive). The cost was $25 as of 8/25/2018 but was well worth it. The Caribbean Princess is scheduled for dry dock in 2019 but it did have some upgrading done in 2017. The ship is a beautiful ship and I don't think you will be disappointed. The Piazza is not as large as the newer ships, but still beautiful. Because we had booked at the last minute there were only inside cabins available. We have had an inside cabin before and have no problem with them. Of course you don't have a window or a balcony, but we both slept like babies and enjoyed the rest. Speaking of sleeping, Princess Cruises have put in some new beds on some of their ships. The new beds are great. We talked to a couple of people who did not like them, but as with anything, some will like it and some will not. We loved the beds. Now we come to the dining: Princess has gone down hill in their food on the ship. They have made it very clear that if you want good food, go to one of the specialty dining rooms and pay the extra fee. This may be OK for some cruisers, but my wife and I are retired and do not eat a lot, but we do enjoy good dining. The food served in the dining room and the buffet was very poor. Hot items were cold and the selection was poor at best. The waitstaff in the dining room acted as though they did not want to be there. On one night the waiter came over to the table and proceeded to grind pepper on my dinner without asking, I hate black pepper. When I raised my hand and said "no" he kept grinding and looked at me as though I surely didn't mean no! Unless you opt to pay for a cup of coffee, do not expect to receive anything that is drinkable. The coffees you can buy are good, but not the ones served. Neither my wife nor I are finicky eaters, and we certainly done claim to be experts in dining, but the food service aboard this cruise was bad enough that we cancelled our scheduled cruise in December. The entertainment was good. There was one night that neither my wife or I enjoyed, but it was truly our taste, and not that of the performers. On another evening, there was a comedian that was very funny and we enjoyed him immensely. Overall the entertainment was very good. If you are new to cruising, try to get to the Princess Theater at least a half hour before the show to get a seat. The service overall was very good, except in the main dining room. In the buffet, the waitstaff promptly removed dirty dishes and we on the spot for drinks. We did utilize the EZCheck option when disembarking which we had never used before. Normally we drive. The EZCheck allowed us to put our luggage out the evening before disembarking, just as you normally would; but for a fee of $25 each, once they collected the luggage it was delivered direct to the airport and we did not see the luggage until we arrived at our destination. EXCELLENT option. Read Less

We chose this cruise for our honeymoon after researching ships due to it being more for retired older people because we did not want alot of children on board, and we got what we wanted, there were very few children the first week and quite a lot of teens on the second week. However, the food was not only tasteless but old, meaning that the desserts were premade and left out to dry out the mousse was dry and cracked etc. We ate at Sabatinis the food had very little taste and portions were small, the crown grill steaks were delicious but everything else was just gross, The Plank barbeque had no taste, small portions and the sides and appetizers were tasteless and did not really go with barbeque. The only thing we ate on board that we enjoyed was the pizza and hamburgers and fries and after 2 weeks i wont be eating pizza any time soon. Buffet food was disappointing everytime, what is supposed to be cold was too warm and hot food was barely room temp. The same things were served over and over. Nothing had any flavor. Unfortunately we threw away alot of food just tasting different stuff trying to find something we liked. We did not see any shows because we didnt care to but I heard the comedians were great. Getting on and off the ship was pretty smooth but they lost my luggage and just so you know you dont have to give your luggage to the porters, you are guided through in such a way that we thought we had to, but you dont. If I had known that I wouldnt have lost my bag which they eventually got to me around 10 pm the first day. Showers are small, very small. The staff was fabulous though, our room steward Pablo was very nice and attentive but no towel animals, and we had to ask for the robes that were supposed to be in there already because we requested one prior to cruise on the personalizer. No fault of Princess but the cruise ports were soooooooooooo touristy, we were herded through so many gift shops that had the same items every where we went. Princess caye was a beach and it was crowded and the food sucked. St Thomas we took an independant tour of the island and the guide just went on and on about how poor the area was, im not unsympathetic but I would like to know more about the island. St Maarten has a beautiful beach with great food thats as far as we went, and if someone tells you to shop for electronics there be warned most of it was higher than walmart prices. Grand cayman has beautiful beaches and we loved the submarine ride. Roatan we went to gumbalimba the park is pretty the monkeys are mean and the birds are huge. Belize we went cave tubing it was cool but our tubes were all tied together and I would have loved to spend more time exploring the park it was amazing. Cozumel was soooooooooo touristy but we went to the national park and went snorkeling it was the highlight of our excursions Read Less

We chose this cruise lines because Princess was our honeymoon 15 years ago. I was very surprised with the food in the restaurant it was terrible! In the past the food was excellent and now the food was horrible! Also if you want to eat better you have to pay a restaurant on the ship. Also it was boring, they didn't even have music on. The room was a balcony room and it was very small. Total disappointment! Norweign was so much better I wont cruise with Princess again. The ship was beautiful but boring! More music is necessary! Caribbean music and more announcements of whats going on during the ship experiences! The pictures were very expensive and no lobster was given in the restaurant. That was always part of the restaurants menu. If you bring back the old ways Ill give Princess another try. For now I recommend not to travel Princess. Read Less

The best parts of this cruise was the Ft. Lauderdale port ease of access, the comfort of their beds, their countless trivias ( and I mean this was one of best sources of entertainment), and a general friendliness of the cruise director staff. Other than that, it was pretty disappointing. We chose traditional dining, because we wanted that bond with our wait staff. From the first dinner, we realized that wasn't going to happen. Our waiter barely unacknowledged us. Only briefly as we sat down and ordered, then again quickly as he took our desert order. Other than that, the only time he was at our table was to pick up or deliver dishes.. not drinks btw, those were few and far between. Now I heard, if you want good foid and service, visit one of their many "pay to eat" restaurants. Which is ridiculous for the price you pay for the cruise. Oh and btw... the buffet is the same, if not better at your local Golden Corral. Entertainment was a joke! Which is ironic, since the only shows they offered were 4 different comedians. I guess they hoped at least one would be funny. There was a rock n roll show that was ok. They had karaoke most nights, and a show called voice of the ocean. Along with a couple 45 min game style shows. Which is pathetic for a 10 day cruise. Leaves a lot of time doing nothing. We were so excited about the pools....5 of them!!! Too bad they were sooo cold no one could go in them. Most of the cruise they all stood completely empty. The hot tubs were nice, when they were not closed. Which wasn't very often. Oh, the aft elevators..... well you had to be very brave to risk those. ( or hungry, since every restaurant was at the back of the ship) but those elevators, would catapult you up or drop you down several levels without rhyme or reason. You were on their terms once the doors closed. Took us several attempts every time we used them. Quite scary and dangerous. I was actually shocked when I was reminded that the ship was built in 2005 and remodeled in 2017, seemed and looked much older. Our cabin wasn't that bad. But, the shower was extremely small. If you are over 200 lbs, or handicapped, be very cautious about booking without checking the sizes of the shower. As I mentioned in the beginning, most the cruise director staff was friendly, but.....if this is you first time on princess, be aware they cater grately to those with multiple sailings. So you may just have to wait a while to get service. As far as the ports and shore excursions, you can't credit princess with the same thing you can get with any cruise line. But, it was nice being able to visit 6 ports. Overall this cruise was a huge disappointment and waste of money. I would highly recommend either another princess ship or an entirely different cruise line. Read Less

This cruise was the 10-day six port Eastern Caribbean Cruise: 1) Princess Cays 2) St Thomas 3) St Kitts 4) St Lucia 5) Antigua 6) St Maarten. The itinerary was great--good ports, except we only had 1/2 day in St Thomas due to a late arrival. But I can't comment on the ports or the shore excursions, because I missed all of them but the Princess Cays. Day 2 of the 10-day cruise, I tripped and fell in the Princess Theater (caught my foot on the light strip on a step). I BROKE my foot. To make a long story short, Medical Services and the ship's Security Officer were more concerned about accident reports than they were about my medical care or well-being on the cruise. We were filling out accident reports, before I was getting x-rays or medical care. The Medical Center nickel-and-dimed me for everything e.g. sizing a boot and instructing me how to use it cost $39 after charging me $196 for the walking boot! A $50 fee to get a copy of the x-ray, etc. Medical expenses exceeded the cost of the cruise! The most obnoxious charge was a $20 / per day charge to use a wheel chair. Princess made a profit on my injury! And they wouldn't waive this charge or did anything to accommodate me or make the cruise more comfortable. The only follow-up to the accident was from the Security Officer--the next day to interrogate me about the accident. "Had I been drinking?" NO, "Was I wearing my glasses?" YES, What shoes was I wearing? " Nothing fancy, just walking sandals. etc. They were more concerned about the accident/liability and blaming me, than they were about my well-being aboard their ship or making the cruise comfortable. I discovered the Caribbean Princess is NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. It was a challenge to get around, which made the cruise even more difficult. 1) Halls were too narrow when the linen carts were out in the morning and evenings, so we couldn't get a wheel chair down the hall. 2) Too few independent handicap restrooms 3) Handicap restrooms were often inside a public restroom where-wheel chairs would not fit or turn around through the aisles 4) Rest room doors were all HEAVY with no auto-open button, so just getting in/out on crutches was impossible without help from another passenger to hold the door. 5) We made reservations for dinner, requesting a wheel-chair accessible table, but several times, the table was up a step, so I still had to get out of the wheel chair and use crutches. The buffet was not wheel chair accessible. The aisles were just not wide enough when there are other people and the counters were too high to reach. If you're in a wheel chair, make sure you have a helper to bring you food. The Princess theater only has room for six wheel-chairs in the back, so you have to get to a show almost an hour before the show to get a space. The Explorer's Lounge and Club Fusion are tiered, so finding a space for a wheel chair was always a challenge....very limited space in the back or you have to get their early to enter through the side and sit up front. The lack of concern--even a free-drink coupon and the $160 charge to use a wheel chair just left a bad taste in my mouth about Princess Cruises. Princess could have offered something--even a drink coupon or a complimentary wheel chair to offset this horrendous experience. Just a totally disappointing experience from Princess. Read Less

We wanted to give Princess another try since we use to sail with them many times. this was our 14th cruise with Princess. We have been on most of them. Theater seats and deck chairs were never available. There were no accommodations for disabled in the theater, or pool side. Passengers would put stuff on chairs no matter how many times they were told no reservation of theater or deck chairs, didn't matter, no chairs. The theater is small compare to same size ships. If there was an emergency and you were sitting in the first 25 rows you were going to die or someone wasn't going to make it. The aisles in theater were very small and so was spacing between rows. These two ships have no lounge on front top of ship for entertainment purposes or just for the views. You could watch pulling into ports on the tv. fell down three steps outside and needed a wheelchair and charged me 100 for the chair. We were told 6 pm for dinner but that seems to always change on Princess to 530 no matter what your reservation states. We could not wait to try out the Regal or Royal because of the marketing of these fairly new ships. Extremely disappointed. We have been on 68 cruises since 1968 Read Less

daughters college spring break, worst staff compared to the 9 past princess cruises. Fitness center staff never showed up for 2 classes my family and I signed up for. Some bar staff were downright rude and disrespectful. A family members cabin had fecal matter in bowl, uncleaned windows, trash on floor in cabin. We were forced at disembarkation to separate from my wheelchair ridden father and his wife. Upon trying to explain, person would not hear any form of reasoning. My family and I have cruised with Princess 9 other times, my father 14 other times. Weve never complained before and dont operate that way. Our problems were brought to the attention of front desk and was promised a return call, which never came. We then spoke a manager, sylvester, who thanked us for bringing theses problems to his attention but nothing else was done. As stated, my family and I woke early for a pilates class, arrived early with other passengers and no instructor showed up. We called front desk who stated someone would be there in 10 min. Hence, nobody showed, we left 20 min later. we purchased the beverage package, I attempted to but a drink for a friend I met on boat to then be told by the Disco bartender, "No sharing". I said, I want to buy a drink for my friend. I was never treated like that before on a cruise. We sailed this same ship 2 years ago, no problems. We also sailed a 11 day celebrity reflection cruise in November 2017 that was fabulous, staff couldnt do enough for you. My family of 7, with 4 cabins were surprised at how Princess has changed in just 2 years. Read Less

Did not enjoy the onboard activities. All consisted of game show types. No separate dancing/music room, rather open dancing in the foyer fo ship. Cruise line did not take the time to make passengers feel welcome at all. Embarcation and debarkation were very good. Did not like the constant automatic shuffles on blackjack table at all. Elevators seemed to be very slow in coming. Dining room was OK, however food was marginal, at best. Service in dining room was good, however. The crew always wanted to try to sell you something, either at dinner or as an activity. I would not use Princess again as we have traveled other cruise lines and feel that we get much more for the money we spent. Buffet was extremely confusing with many cut outs and back and front food lines. In summary, cruise on a whole was marginal at very best. Would not consider this cruise line again. Read Less

Arrival & departure was smooth. Our Mini Suite was wonderful (overpriced but still nice) I give this Ship a less than POOR review due to the following; The On Board entertainment and activities were very limited. They consisted of Bingo, Cha Cha & Tango lessons, Ballroom Dancing, Knitting classes, Art Auctions, Recording Game Shows, etc. They however did have a Comedian one night and a singer that sang love songs that literally put you to sleep. Otherwise there was the Movies Under the Stars around the pool....but good luck finding a lounge chair. There was ABSOLUTELY nothing FUN to do on this ship! I have been on other Cruise lines and there were so many exciting shows, fun activities, etc, to do that you couldn't do them all. The entertainment or lack there of, speaks for itself, poor. The food was O.K. if you like food that tastes like hospital cafeteria food on the Buffet. Yes there was ample choices but very average. We did the Anytime Seating rather than the Reserved. If you weren't there in line 15 minutes before they opened you would have anywhere from an hour to two hour wait or more. The food was better than the Buffet but not by much and not much choice on the menu. The service was poor. You had to try to flag down servers, etc. We ate at 2 of the "Upgrade" restaurants. Food was wonderful, service not so much. Now onto the service of the wait staff in Dining Rooms, Buffets, Bars, etc. Again, I found the service to be horrible. You would have to flag down 2 to 3 or more people before you could get water or a beverage or to get your food order right. There were issues with our pre-ordered items that were supposed to be in our Suite upon arrival. It took several phones calls over several days to get these items. One item we finally just cancelled as they kept promising it but it never came. The Excursions; we booked and paid for 3 in advance, one on each Island. Upon arrival to our room there were notices that 2 of our 3 excursions had been cancelled due to the damage from the hurricanes last year and that they would issue credit to our shipboard account rather than issuing us a refund. Don't you think that knowing full well these excursions are not operational that they should not even offer them! Instead they take your money. Suggestion; book your excursions on the ship, not on the website prior to your trip. The one excursion we did go on, no one knew where we had to go to catch our tour bus. Over a 30 minute period, we asked 6 to 8 crew members on the pier where we needed to go, we kept getting a different answer. We barely made our excursion due to this. Very disorganized. Our 1st stop, Princess Cays Bahama's is their own private island which had a couple shops (huts) for shopping, a couple bars (huts) and lounge chairs for tanning. If your not a sun worshiper, there's not much to do. We found a couple of chairs and sat under some palm trees for a bit. If you bought a soda or alcohol beverage package, they do not accept/honor this on the island so therefore they charge your room account additional $$ for these beverages. Our next stop was St Thomas. Had a good time there but my advice on any island is to hire a Taxi for the day, flip him $100 bucks or so to give you a tour of the island, take you to a restaurant, beaches, etc. They will take you and WAIT for you for less than a tour excursion costs, plus you actually get to see the island rather than just the tourist area's. Next stop, St Maarten. Again, hire a Taxi to take you around. You can take a water taxi over to the other side of the bay for $7 to where there is more shopping however, BE AWARE.....you will be hounded non-stop from store owners, people on the streets, etc. We got so fed up we took the water taxi back to the main port shops where no one was bothering us. We then had 2 excruciatingly long boring days back to Ft Lauderdale as again, no activities of interest on the ship unless you are 70, 80, 90 years old. Bingo, Ballroom Dancing, Knitting, LGBTQ Meet & Greet, etc This ship has no actual dance club or actual bar. It only has various bars with 10 to 15 bar stools and cocktail lounges around the ship. We don't even drink but a Night Club would have been fun! The BEST thing about this trip was warm weather, sunshine, and our Room Steward, Kitti! He has so accommodating, friendly, always smiling and happy! This was supposed to be an Ocean Medallion Cruise which evidently is supposed to be the 'Cream of the Crop'. Nothing about this cruise reflected this. I will never take Princess again for a cruise. When I called them to complain I was told, "Sorry, you booked through a Travel Agent, you need to call them"! One IMPORTANT tidbit; Rather than paying the big bucks like we did for a Mini Suite or a Balcony Room, buy an inside cabin room for about $400 to $600 bucks. There were several people we spoke to on the ship that did this and then were upgraded free of charge to a Balcony Room and then they were offered a free future cruise if they downgraded back to an inside room! No guarantee this will happen to you, but you never know!! Read Less

Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. It was the in-between that fell flat. This was mine and my husband's (no children with us) 7th Princess cruise, and our worst. It was a 5-day cruise on the Crown Princess to Grand Turk and Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. Very disappointing. On the first day we discovered our favorite pool on the back of the ship was closed and remained closed all week. The pool at the estuary was being re-tiled, so it was also closed all week. That left only two pools open for over 3000 guests. The ship is going in for refurbishing, and the entire crew seemed to have a don't care attitude. The food was horrible, and the service was worse. We saw our cabin attendant when we checked into our room and not again until we were departing the ship. The very last night I got a virus and was medically escorted from the ship at departure, so we weren't given the opportunity to print out our folio of expenses. I have called Princess twice this past week to have it emailed to me. I still don't have. The worst part was we were travelling with four other couples, three of which had never cruised Princess, and one couple who had never cruised at all. That couple said they were looking for the wow factor and was very disappointed. Read Less

This was not the typical experience I've had in the past with Princess cruises. My cruise experiences with Princess in the past were much better. If this is their new standard of service and professionalism, I will not be taking another Princess cruise. The staff was not at their usual level of friendliness and professionalism. The dinner service was a bit disorganized compared to previous cruises. The dining room food was not up to the same quality either. The dining staff seemed inexperienced. The cabin attendant verbally complained to me that he was overworked and didn't get enough breaks. It was awkward. I do have sympathy for people, but please do not express your displeasure with your job or employer to me when you are getting paid and tipped to keep my room in order. On two occasions, the bartender made my drink incorrectly, using the wrong ingredients in one, and too much of an ingredient (bitters) in another. Please don't tell me you can make me a Sazerac, charge me for it, but then admit you are missing ingredients after the fact. It was not good, and I was not offered a replacement drink nor refund. Friends asked us to go. Poor quality food and high drink prices. Baked Alaska night in the dining room was obnoxious with people shouting, pounding on the tables and waiters clanging anything metal that they could get there hands on. We were still eating our main course when this started. It is time to relegate this behavior to the Horizon Court where most people, who don't care about dining, seem to go. The majority of entertainment centered around game shows and trivia contests....all inane activities. Your so called Enrichment programs are practically non-existent. The star gazing was worthwhile on this cruise since there was a meteor shower one evening. Educational seminars, not selling ones, would be appreciated for the ports of call. I think that Princess could learn a lot about food quality and diversity, especially in the gluten free area from Holland America. The GF pizza on this cruise was inedible...it tasted like a pancake with ketchup. I could go on and on but our conclusion is that we will not go on another Caribbean cruise with Princess. We will give another European cruise another go as we feel that it is a different experience and clientele....but even there the food and menu must be changed and drink prices are outrages across the board on the Princess ships. Chose itinerary but unfortunately hurricanes changed that. No fault of Princess of course but disappointing. Our first night in the dining room was terrible. Thought I would have a Princess Grade Prime Rib. Ordered Medium rare and received a pale grey cold piece of meat with side dishes such as potato etc cold and tasteless.. NOT Princess standard! After the first bad encounter waited until the last evening to try dining room again. The dining experience was equally as bad as the first night. The buffet was consistently excellent thankfully! We had the opportunity to eat in the Specialty Crown Grill. It was absolutely fantastic. We had a great waiter, who was very knowledgeable and attended to our every need. Definitely the quality one would expect for Princess!!! Will be sure to book the Crown first thing on the next cruise. The first evening I noticed the soap leftovers from the previous guest were still in the shower. The next day after breakfast the shower had been cleaned properly. The room steward however was VERY attentive and pleasant and perhaps just missed the soap dish... The staff at Crooners Bar, especially Grace went above and beyond. Alex our bartender next to the Sanctuary in the pool area was excellent! The specialty coffee area was a nice unexpected bonus. The ship was absolutely beautiful! The only entertainment we caught was toward the end of a comedian act in the Princess Theatre. Wish we had gotten there for the whole thing as he was hilarious! Enjoyed the slot pull in the Casino with Cruise Critic. Much more fun and better turn out than last cruise. Thanks!!! Embarkation and disembarkation were probably the quickest I have ever seen on a cruise ship. We may have just gotten there at a good time, but usually have an smooth, quick on and off on Princess. We did not go on excursions. Got off at Amber Cay. Again., easy on and off although time was short. Overall I was disappointed in Princess. The relaxation and food are generally what I look forward to. The dining room experience is generally a great time to get to know other travelers and enjoy the food. Not this time.. The dining menu was very disappointing as normally each night there is something to WOW you! We would look at the menu outside the dining room and nothing special made our list. After the bad experience the first night I really had no idea the entire trip would be a no go in the dining room. Much better food on the buffet. Sad.. Usually there are so many great items to choose from we have a hard time deciding. This has really given me pause for a Princess cruise. Time to try a different cruise line for a change. Read Less

The other staff I can not even complain about. They were great. It was I spend most of my time at guest services arguing about charges that should not have been on my card. When you call them all they can say is put in a complaint. The singers/dancers were good. They should have more shows with them than some of the other entertainment they had. I had to fight to stay woke during one of the comedians. I enjoyed the ports of call. I just had to spent too much time at guest services. I am so over Princess cruise line. Read Less

I will start off by saying this was the most unfriendliest crew I have ever seen on any of my cruises. There was no cheerful hellos and it seemed as if the crew had been yelled at before we got on. I don't know what the problem was but I know our group was not the only ones to see this. Most everyone we talked to felt the same. Embarkation we waited in a long line that went into the parking lot. The did not open the doors early causing everyone to wait. Disembarkation went smoothly. There were three of us in an accessible balcony room. The room was nice except for where the third person had to sleep. It was way to high up and a wobbly ladder to get up there so my 68 year old friend opted to sleep on a mattress on the floor. When you opened the sliding door there was a high pitched screeching sound that was unbearable. So the first night we slept with the door closed until they repaired it the following day. Also the door has a metal piece that is made for a wheel chair to safely go over it. Well the piece would pop up when you stepped up it and two of us tripped over it. We called twice for it to be repaired but it continued to happen. I truly hope no one gets hurt as it was really dangerous. When we met our steward Jim we asked him if we all could have two bath towels. He at first told me no only 1 per person. I was really surprised as I have never been refused this before. So I called passenger services and we were able to have 2 bath towels apiece. He also was not that great in cleaning the room and would forget to empty our trash cans. We ordered the robes for the room. They were not in the room so I had to call for them. When they came they were still wet. We hung them outside to dry but then later in the evening our steward brought us some dry ones and took the wet ones. I called to make sure of the options we had for dinner since we did the anytime dining. I was told we could go to DaVinci and Michelangelo. So we went down to DaVinci and we were told we could not eat there until after 7:45. My friend has had 4 strokes and is her left arm is paralyzed and she has a brace on her left leg and walks very slowly with a cane. I was upset that we had to leave this restaurant and head to Michelangelo. This is the reason I called passenger service to make sure she did not have to walk far. At Michelangelo we were unable to get a table for 4 of us. Three of us were traveling together and we met a nice woman who was traveling alone so she joined us. Each time we had dinner we had to have a sharing table. I was disappointed that we could not have a table for just us. The one night I asked the Maitre d if he had a table by the window and he threw his arms up in the arms up in the air in a huff. I stepped back and said sir all you had to say was yes or no you did not have to get angry. Then the following night we went down for dinner and when he went to seat us the friend that we met followed me and apparently he did not think she was with me and he yelled at her to go back and wait. He was so very rude. This was upsetting. The food in the dining room was not the best. I have had better on my last two Princess cruises. They also took the strip steak off as a staple item on the menu and changed it to a hamburger. That surprised all of us. One of the worst things to happen to us was in Sabatini's. The casino comped me and my two friends a dinner there. The women we met joined us but had to pay the $29 dollar charge. We all ordered the lobster and the artichoke casserole. The casserole was good but the lobster was AWFUL. I will say it again....the lobster was AWFUL!! I so wish I had brought my camera. Our lobster tails were black on the bottom. Mine was the worst. They smelled very fishy and the taste was atrocious. We all sent them back. We did not ask for a refund as we were comped the meal but our friend asked for them to remove the charge from her bill. They said she should order something else. She said no, that this totally ruined her appetite. The waiter got the manager (at least I think that is who he was) and he refused to give her credit for this meal saying she had eaten the souffle. OMG I could not believe what I was hearing. The lobster was spoiled and they would not refund her the money. I felt so bad for her. And for us this was supposed to be a special treat and it certainly was memorable but not at all special. I found the gym to have only 2 recumbent bikes. Which with my back surgeries is the only type of equipment I can use. It made it difficult for me to get to use the bike as they were taken when I would go down. Also disappointing was that the gym opens at 7. Most ships the gym opens at 6. And if you call passenger services they will tell you the gym opened at 8. We did not get a lot of good info from passenger services. Then other thing I noticed on this ship was the lack of communication. We had a very rocky night and day on the last full sea day. Very little communication on that day as well as the other days. Oh and the first day when they gave us the temperature they only gave it in celsius not in farenheit leaving many of us clueless as to what the temp was. The ports we went to were Amber Cove which was very nice. And Grand Turk which was equally as nice. I would totally do those ports again but not on this ship. The ship needs to be refurbished, the bathroom smelled awful and the ship did not sparkle but looked rather dirty. I read on cruise critic that it is going to be dry docked and that is why it looks this way. Not sure of this but this is what I read. Also there was an elevator out causing long wait times to use the elevators. The thing that made me feel sad was this was my two friends first cruise. And I told them about how good the food was and how the crew is wonderful. Well they did not have a good experience and this really disappointed me. I hope Princess makes some necessary changes on this ship. And I hope the crew gets in a better mood for the next travelers. Read Less

The overall facilities/ship/staterooms on the Regal Princess were fairly good. The stateroom was generous in size and consistently clean. The common public areas were also very good. The biggest concern by myself and most guests was the "Anytime Dining" option provided by Princess Cruise lines. Any new cruise passenger needs to be very cautious about choosing this option. Effectively, this program allows any passenger to eat in the Symphony dining room between 6 pm - 10 pm. However, the dining room can only accommodate a fixed number of guests PER waiter minus any reservations that are made. So... every night, my family of 5 was given a pager and had to wait 30-60 minutes in order to get a table. So anytime actually means 'when it is convenient for the dining room'. We wasted a lot of time just waiting for a table, and then we had to wait exorbitantly long (average 1 1/2 hrs.) to get our food. What accentuated the frustration is that PC would accept reservations for Anytime Dining tables were further reduced the availability. Passengers became more frustrated... staff tried to compensate but became less friendly over time. It just led to a poor situation that could be avoided. My best advice: Choose either the first or second fixed seating time and stay with it all week. There is never a wait and you get the same staff each day. There was no complaints about that option.
