We just returned from a 7 night cruise on the Carribean Princess. It was just OK. Maybe we are spoiled because our last cruise was on the Regal Princess which was amazing. Pros -Medallion Class is awesome. I could always find my travel companions. -Concierge website was great to check account balances and events. -OceanCompass and OceanNow are great. -Embarkation and disembarking were so fast and easy. -Friendly bartenders that remembered you. No long lines for drinks. Shout out to Melissa at the casino & Mo at Churchill’s). -Decent Casino with room to move around. -Crown Grill was fantastic and went twice (shout out to Alexander & Christian) -Sabatini’s was good -Good itinerary -Quality food in main dining room, but not as good as Regal -Excellent fitness center, large and spacious -Decorated our door for my birthday and gave a free specialty restaurant cover and $25 for on board shops. A really nice surprise. -Good variety of table games in the casino -Churchill’s Cigar bar is large with a great bar inside it -Excellent Internet speed. I could stream Netflix with no issue. -Beds were very comfy. Cons -The buffet layout is atrocious. If one side is closed you have to go outside and come in another side. No sign telling you the side is closed. Traffic in buffet is disarrayed. Food is ok, but not great (lunch) -Ship Layout is awful. You can’t get there from here....up, down, around. -Constantly out of pizza. The pizza was great....if you wanted to wait while the lines stacked up -The adults only pool in the front has only about 12 loungers which are taken bright and early and not given up even if people were not there. No other space or shade. -The thermal spa is tiny with only 4 loungers. Not worth the price. -Limited smoking areas and none with loungers. Mostly under cover or standing only. (pro or con, depending on your point of view Read Less

We choose the Caribbean Princess based on recommendations from some friend who are big time cruisers. This was our first cruise so we really had no idea what to expect. We set off for a two week East/West Caribbean cruise to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. Here are a few things that we'd like to share. The good- The Caribbean is absolutly beautiful! The ship was beautiful and dang big. Takes days to see it all! We had smooth sailing even in somewhat rough seas. You're going to be around people from all over the world and our country, we really enjoyed this! The food was much, much better than we expected in every restaurant! The wait staff was exceptional! The nightly entertainment was much better than expected. There was always something going on. No matter what age, you'll find something fun to do! Loved the workout room, the sauna and steam rooms. There is a adult only "sanctuary" area for some quite pool/sun time. The high energy band "Static" was incredible! Most all entertainment was really good! The bad- We received $600 in onboard spending money. They took back $420 in mandatory tips for the hotel staff. Essentially, you're paying their wages for Princess Lines We had really good service and really lousy service. Regardless you're going to pay an additional 18% mandatory tip on all purchases regardless of service. We didn't like this. Spa prices are way over priced, especially the facials. The rooms are really small, showers are even smaller! Off shore excursions are over priced. Do your research and you'll find better for less. Our excursion to Xcaret was time limited and missed the best shows The ugly- If you do a facial, a massage or acupuncture be prepared for the sales pitch to buy the over priced products. Getting through to the front desk on the phone will drive you nuts. You're going to be nickel and dimed to death. We have traveled the world, I traveled for a living for 30+ years. This was big event for us, so we did it all. We had the balcony room, did the spa, acupuncture, facial, ate at a nice restaurant a couple of times. Drank some good wine and a lot of margarita's. After two weeks onboard, we had a great time but to be honest when I got the final bill, I just don't think the value was there. Paid a premium for above average vacation. Will make some changes and do more research for the next cruise. Read Less

Our mini suite was nice , but the bathroom was outdated and rusty. Deck chairs were old and dirty. The ship seems to cater to the 70 plus crowd. I did not have a lot of fun on this cruise . If you are under age 60, I would suggest Royal Caribbean for a more upbeat lively time and more activities. For the prices of a princess cruise , the rooms should be beautiful as well as the bathrooms . The pool area is small and lacks enough seating I will say the food is excellent and staff very nice . The World Market where the breakfast and lunch buffet is lacks seating during peak times . The elevators are slow at best and you can barely hear the chime if someone is talking . The layout of the ship is confusing. As a passenger , I should not have to walk to the other end of the ship to get to the 15th floor Read Less

My sister and I got a great price on the cruise at the last minute. I had been on the Caribbean Princess twice when it first came out, and this was to be my 12th Princess cruise. We last cruised on the Regal Princess twice. What can I say...I felt during this cruise like everything was not...bad....but not up to what I expected and had experienced on my other cruises...not as "crisp"..I don't know..hard to put my finger on. My sister felt the same way. Staff was unfailingly polite! Cabin steward was great! But, for instance...I sat at one of the tables for two in the Cones and Coffee section. Servers or wait staff that usually roam to take plates away and ask if you want anything..well, they would come down so far from each end and then turn and go back. I felt like I was in no man's land. One day, my dirty plate sat there for two hours. No one approached me to ask if I wanted something to drink. Odd. We thoroughly did not enjoy the World Marketplace buffet...breakfast was good as always, but then on to lunch and dinner...great salad makings, fruits, decent dessert choices..but the entrees?? I get it that they are trying to have foods that represent "the world", but one whole section every day was Indian food...another section everyday was mexican food...odd little cups of things like "slaw on the bottom, a shrimp, a cherry tomato, and a dollop of goat cheese! Now I'm making that up, but...stuff like that. Two days of the cruise, the carving station had leg of lamb. One day a giant poached salmon..never a ham, one day a beef at one of the meals... I'm sorry, just not the entrees or support dishes of the past where most of the time, the buffet "mirrored" what was being offered in the dining room. Our experience with the Ocean Medallion thing was spotty. We WANTED to love it and did love some features..but I have an iPhone and every time my display (set for five minutes) went dark, I lost the connection and had to log on again. I tried to locate my sister one day and the app said she was in the casino..which she was...but for the rest of the cruise, refused to show her anywhere else. So I think when the kinks are worked out, it will be great..but it needs work. And, I think the wait staff is so concerned about delivering food and drink to people who order on the app, that they lose sight of the rest of us. Sorry..I'll definitely do princess again, but not this ship, and I sure hope this World Marketplace doesn't go fleetwide. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of its destinations and our first cruise was on Princess 12 yrs ago. The food was great in the traditional dining. We were somewhat disappointed in the destinations themselves. The marine life that you would expect from "The Virgin Islands" did not match our expectations. It would seem they the cruise lines would invest in artificial reefs ect.. to bring in more marine life. The queen bed in our suite was amazing. I would actually suggest doing research on the different ports so you know exactly what you getting into instead of a brochure feeling. The entertainment: the comedian great, the dancing singing programs once you see one you have seen them all. Sure the music and costumes change but it really seems the same. The Voice at Sea was really fun and that was new to us. Also, the cruise director was a pretty funny guy. There was also a female dancer that taught little mini dance lessons "the salsa" and she was a sweetheart. Read Less

We chose this cruise to be with friends who were going. The service was pretty good. The room steward as well as wait staff was friendly, considerate and outgoing, with only a very few poor exceptions. Nothing really wowed us though. The stateroom was nice, the bed comfortable, the closet huge, but the bathroom was small and the shower was so miniscule, if you dropped your razor you had to step of the shower to be able to bend over to pick it up. The on-board events were scheduled to promote herding from one event to the next which was uncomfortable at best. The pool decks were mostly quiet and peaceful during afternoons and evenings at sea except 1-hour of DJ one day and one hour of band music the next. They could have definitely used some fun beach music or games poolside. Oh, and the DJ played nothing but canned, pre-mixed mega-mixes the entire trip. Never spoke a word, just clicked the play button and sat back with his arms crossed. Pretty boring and the shortened/blended songs were mostly just annoying. The Ocean Medallion held lots of promise, but the reality is a let-down. Be prepared to let the Princess pick your pocket for internet service to unlock the Medallion or it is just a heavy hunk of jewelry masquerading as a fancy room key. We went on a cruise to get away so Internet access was something we did not want. Most important... If you get the Ocean Medallion ahead of time... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT ON YOU WHEN YOU ARRIVE!!!. No one tells you the only way to get on the ship is with the Medallion in hand. The printed boarding pass only gets you to the gate. The Medallion is required to get on the ship. If you packed it in your suitcase and left the suitcase on the dock as required, you're kinda screwed. Other than that, the food was pretty good, the service was pretty good, the entertainment was pretty good but the whole experience aboard ship was ho-hum. It wasn't awful. Read Less

The ship was nice and clean. The staff was always helpful and pleasant. We didn’t see shows or use the gym. The food was just okay. The scrambled eggs tasted like powdered eggs. I’m probably the only one who ever looses weight on a cruise due to lack of good food choices. The fish was either over cooked & dry or over cooked & mushy. The beef Wellington was tuff but had a good flavor. The only descent meat was in Planks. The BBQ chicken was delicious. I think the wait staff in Planks was in training. Our stateroom with balcony was good size with plenty of storage. Bathroom was okay but on days it did have an odor. Don’t book a stateroom on the 14th deck (aft) your right below the pools and can hear the crew putting out or taking up the pool chairs. Or people walking heavy footed. We were not impressed with the stop at Princess Cays. We booked the snorkeling & boat tour. The boat tour was cut short. The cruise line did provide a bbq lunch on the beach. The only drinks provided was water, unless you purchased booze. The bathrooms on the beach were gross. They look like they hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The local workers didn’t seem to happy we were there. We stopped at St Thomas and St Maarten. Both of these excursions were nice. It would have been nice to have had more than 2 destination stops. We should have done more research before booking. One thing we wish cruise lines wouldn’t do is try to sell you stuff you don’t need or want. To many events trying to sell things/services. Who’s got $10,000 to spend on a painting? Most of the art work is just prints and not the actual paintings. Overall we had a good time and would try Princess Cruises again but a different ship. Overall this was a cruise on a par with most of my previous cruises, fifteen on Norwegian, one on Princess. The biggest surprise was the newly installed Medallion.net wi-fi service. It was priced reasonably, unlimited, and provided reliable service much faster than any I've previously experienced on a cruise. I am told it is being rolled out over time to other Princess ships. If your ship has it, I highly recommend it. The variety of food offerings in the buffet was much more extensive than I've found on Norwegian cruises, even on their large ships. and finding a seat was never a problem. Shore excursions were mixed. Puerto Rico's Favorites, A San Juan tour of the rain forest and the fort was one of the best I've ever been on, thanks to an excellent guide (Alejandro). He spoke clearly, explained the plan of the tour, offered lots of background on the island, its history and geography, and provided good information on the biosphere of the rain forest. At the end of the tour he explained where we could go and how to return to the ship if we chose to offload at the town square. The tour at Amber Cove, Dominican Republic (Easy Puerto Plata) was awful. The guide spoke limited English. I understood about half what he said. The town offered limited rewards. We stopped at the Fort de San Felipe, but only for 10 minutes so we were told not to go inside to look around. As we drove through town, the guide pointed out supermarkets, banks, etc. Wow! Generally an economically depressed looking town. We stopped at the central square, but had to stay as a group with the guide. In the modest cathedral, three tour groups were seated in close proximity with their guides providing simultaneous talks. Very hard to make anything out. The longest stop was at the nearby souvenir shop, which did provide restrooms, the only place on the tour that did. The tour was inexpensive, but still not worth it. Read Less

We chose this cruise primarily for the itinerary and timing as we like to escape our New England winters - we have cruised with Celebrity, Carnival, NCL, Oceania and Royal - this was our first Princess experience and we tried not to make comparisons, as each line has its strengths and weaknesses. Embarkation was quick and efficient and our deluxe balcony stateroom E126 was ready when we boarded at 1. Small but adequate - our steward Jon was friendly and attentive. Balcony door was a single door that opened out (not a slider) and was difficult to maneuver around in the limited space. Royal Princess is a beautiful ship and we loved that there were so many common areas to sit and relax - the shows were predictable, lots of live music throughout the ship, and many bars and restaurants to grab a drink and a snack. Did not care for the daytime movies by the main pool area. The sound blaring from all the speakers did not make for a relaxing time in the Caribbean. I wish they would move the movies to another area so we could relax poolside undisturbed. We did find the adults only pool to be a better option, though it was extremely windy being on the uppermost deck. Formal nights, we dressed nicely, but are so done with gowns and tuxes. Thankfully, many of our fellow cruisers felt the same and we didn't feel out of place or underdressed. We enjoyed all the bars on the ship but especially liked Bellinis. Always found a seat and the bartenders got to know us and our favorite beverages. We did purchase the drink package and probably spent more than if we had paid per drink but it was nice to not have to deal with paying as we went along. We did not do any excursions through the ship - but just spent the day on the beach at each of the ports - after many cruises, we don't like to be herded around on someone else's schedule. Major disappointment with the cruise was the food - the buffet was ho-hum and the main dining room fare, while not bad, lacked the wow factor - the choices, preparation and preparation were just ok - nothing memorable. Anytime dining worked well for us - we requested a table for 2 and ate later, so never waited and service was quite good, with one exception, a server named Alexa who, on two occasions, gave us a generous dose of attitude - Not sure if it were a language or semantics issue, but she clearly needs instruction in how to speak to her customers. We did enjoy Alfredos for lunch on a couple of sea days - too bad they don't offer a dinner menu in the evening to better utilize the space. A pizza and salad is not my idea of dinner while on vacation. Likewise a burger as an "everyday" option for dinner in the main dining room is again, not "enough" - a steak was offered but carried an additional charge of $19. All in all, we enjoyed our cruise but for the $$ we spent, not sure we will be back. Primarily because while the cruise itself was pleasant enough, there was nothing special enough to book another anytime soon. Read Less

This was our 8th cruise on Princess (Platinum) and 2nd time on The Royal Princess. This was our 37th cruise. We have also sailed on Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Costa, Holland America and MSC. Our itinerary was Princess Cays, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. We had rented a car from Budget which was convenient and was only a 2 minute shuttle ride to the cruise port. We arrived at the cruise port at 9:30 AM because we are diehard cruisers and want to be the first ones onboard. We stood in line for 45 minutes or so and then they let us check-in. We sat in the Platinum embarkation lounge for another 30 minutes and had a coffee and a danish while we waited. We boarded the ship just after 11:00 AM. Overall, it was a pleasant embarkation experience The Ship: The Royal is a beautiful ship. It really gives that wow factor when you first walk on. The Piazza looked so pretty all decorated for Christmas and New Years. The ship itself is starting to show a bit of wear and tear but nothing major. You could tell that ship was full this cruise. There was a lot of younger people and large families this time. Staff in the dining rooms, Horizon Court, International Cafe, Princess Theatre, bars and lounges were pleasant and seemed much happier compared to our last time on Royal. Cabin: We had an inside cabin on Deck 15 (Marina) all the way Aft. The cabin was a few doors down from the aft elevators and was directly below the Lido. The location of this cabin was perfect. Our room steward, Greennich, was efficient and pleasant. He really liked to chit-chat with the passengers and he put the effort in. Food: The food on this ship was pretty good as usual. There was always eating options available and you could find something to eat any time of day or night. We throughly enjoyed the International Cafe food and speciality coffees. Also a side note, they don’t give out coffee cards anymore, instead, they swipe your cruise card and tell you how many are left. For dinners, we had Anytime Dining. We had mostly good waitstaff. The food/desserts in the Dining Room were also very good. Entertainment: The Sail Away Party was fun and different from what they usually do. We went to the deck party for New Years Eve. The party was fun and it was neat to see all of the ships locations on the screen. The party band “Static” was very good and they played a variety of music. The production shows, Encore and Colours of the World, were repeats and we have already seen them multiple times before. We watched Secret Silk again and it was good but was better the first time we saw it. The comedian, AJ Jamel, was hilarious. Kory Simon, the piano player from Canada, was also good. The classic rock impressionist, Greg London, wasn’t very good at all though. He was clearly lip-syncing. We left after the first few songs and we rarely leave shows. Overall, the entertainment was alright but the production shows need a change-up. Fitness centre: The fitness centre is the biggest I have ever been in while on a cruise. It is equipped with a variety of cardio machines and treadmills to choose from. I like the bikes that have the interactive games on them. It is very hot in there but that’s ok because it will help you burn off all of the danish and donuts faster. Itinerary: All ports were great. We had phenomenal weather and we came back with nice tans. In Princess Cays, we got off the tender and went to the opposite side. There is better snorkelling and it less crowded on that side. We went to Linquvist Beach in St.Thomas. Absolutely stunning beach with clear water and lots of snorkelling. You can get there either by taking the city bus which is $2.00 per person or by taxi which is $10.00 per person. In St.Maarten, we went to the beach across from the cruise port. We took the water taxi over for $7.00 per person round trip and rented some chairs and bought a bucket of beer for $25.00. Frozen drinks were reasonable as well. You just have to walk up and down the beach in order to scope out the best deal. Some places will negotiate a lower price. Disembarkation: It was quick and stress-free. They let us get off around 8:15 AM and we had our luggage shortly after that. We rented a car from Alamo and took the free shuttle to the car pickup location. We were on the road by 8:45 AM Now for the bad, We had a not so good experience while in Princess Cay. The island is beautiful and the water is always a clear blue. We always try to sit on the opposite side to avoid the massive crowds and there is also better snorkeling. A few passengers who had a few beers started to talk with the lifeguard. Normal chitchatting didn’t last long. The lifeguard proceeded to talk about inappropriate topics such as hooking-up with passengers and started making derogatory comments and pointing at other females in the water. This went on for a good 45 minutes. I felt super uncomfortable and didn’t want to get out of the water until they had left. I look at it like the staff on the island, whether they be the lifeguards, waitstaff, security etc, are representing Princess and should always remain professional. However, the female lifeguard who swapped out with the male lifeguard, was actually doing her job and was watching the people in the water in a more appropriate way. The first two nights of Anytime Dining were a mess. People were getting all fired up and were yelling at the front staff. They say it could be long wait and they give you a beeper like they do at Olive Garden. We are pretty patient and figure we will get fed eventually so waiting isn’t the issue. We made reservations every night for the rest of the cruise after Day 2. They tell you to call at 8 AM and wait in the cue. Some days we would get a reservation and other days they wouldn’t take reservations and we were told to just show up after 7:30 PM at the Concerto which ended up working out good. Franco (Food and Beverage Supervisor) and Staff working the front in the Concerto were trying very hard to manage and props to them for putting up with it all. The ones in the Symphony, not so much. This ship could really use an extra pool or two. This ship only has the two and then a circle dip pool. The pools were super crowded and both of them looked super icky gross by 1 PM. This ship needs another pool located at the back of the ship. They don’t serve you and they don’t enforce the use of the tongs at the buffet at all. I watched passengers dig in to things with their hands while staff watched it. They enforce hand washing for the first two days but then after that it’s a free-for-all. They had a notice in the patter about hand washing and to avoid using the public bathrooms unless absolutely necessary but I don’t think that made much difference. We were fortunate enough to have Matt O and his Entertainment Assistant Team last time on Royal and they were great. Alex, the Cruise Director this time wasn’t the best. He wasn’t very involved and told the same jokes every night. I was mad because we saw that Bohemian Rhapsody was going to be playing on MUTS. It would have been a highlight to see it on the big screen. It never did play and they put on Tea with the Dames instead. I wasn’t happy. And of course the ugly, During The New Years Eve festivities, a passenger was high on some kind of drug or really drunk, and proceeded to challenge random people to fights. One of us was randomly approached and threatened by this guy. We think he got kicked off the ship for his antics because we didn’t see him again for the rest of the cruise and he stuck out like a sore thumb. The party was great fun otherwise. Good luck finding a chair by the pool unless you get up at 5 AM like we did. People would get up early, spread all of their belongings around and not come back until 2 pm. We witnessed multiple people yelling at each other over chairs and one almost resulted in coffee being thrown. People were on edge with this and I don’t think security even cared. We just stayed in our chairs and tried to ignore the tension amongst passengers. It just isn’t something you want to have to deal with on a cruise. We have had nothing but good experiences at Alfredo’s up until this cruise. The staff member at the front sent us away twice for being dressed inappropriately and told us to change. The first time, we had on bathing suits but were dry and had on full cover-ups and a t-shirt with shorts. The second time, we were sent away because one of us was wearing a tank top however, it was loose fit and covered the shoulders. We went to complain at guest services and then changed into something else. We went back to eat there and were seated by the same staff member who told us to change. A waiter took our order shortly after. We were left waiting for 45 minutes and watched people who came in after us wearing bathing suits get served within 10 minutes. We eventually asked what was taking so long and it turns out they never did put in our order and the staff member who kicked us out had disappeared all of a sudden. Shoutout to Darwin who was the only staff who noticed we had been waiting for 45 minutes and he made sure we got our pizza. We think they were unhappy we complained so just decided we were undeserving and that we would eventually leave. All the other staff were wondering around and didn’t even refill our water. I think this could have been avoided by posting a dress code in front of the restaurant. If there is a dress code, it should be enforced and not selective. Overall, the cruise was good and we managed to have a good time even when unpredictable situations occur. The situation at Alfredo’s tarnished our overall cruise experience this time. However, we love the perks associated with being Platinum and we have had some great cruises on Princess. We will probably sail with princess again. 3.5 is my rating. Read Less

I have never written a review before but here I go. I am a Platinum member working on getting to Elite. Normally I would have a 4 or 5 rating for Princess but this cruise I did have some disappointments. When I found this 10 day cruise I was excited because it had 6 ports. 3 of which I have been to and 3 where new ports. We stayed at the Hilton Marina the night before and that was OK. It was a very dated hotel but the price was not bad. It was across from the port so that made getting to the port easy. We have been cruising with Princess for a while now and this is the second sailing on this ship we have done. The ship is very well laid out and our favorite out of the fleet. We where in E325 which is an obstructed ocean view stateroom. I will tell you that I would book in a heart beat this room again. There was a life boat at the window, however you could see straight out to the ocean. You would not be able to see below you but who looks down anyhow. Great room. It also is a great deck because We were able to run down 2 decks for dinning or 1 deck for the theater, It was easier than getting an elevator. This cruise was for relaxation only. We chose not to do any excursion on this trip. We stayed on the ship for Princess Cays, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. We have been to these ports many times. We rented lounges in the Sanctuary for the entire cruise and that is where we parked during the morning hours. In the afternoon, we went to the Skywalker lounge. The ship is very well maintained. You can tell they keep it painted and cleaned. When sitting beside other ships, Princess looked so much better. I did not see a lot of improvements made to the ship during the dry dock. We sailed on it the week before it went into dry dock so I do have pictures of it before renovations. My guess is that outside the new dinning venues and new bedding, and some carpet, the updates where in technology. Internet. Loyal passengers, Elite and Platinum really do not get the internet perk as before. Sure they will give you your minutes, but because they moved to Medallion Net, cruisers can purchase unlimited on the first day at a discounted rate. If you are Elite or Platinum you first have to waste the minutes allotted to you than you can purchase the package, but....You will pay the same price as a first time cruiser. They tried to say we where still getting the discount, but no we weren't, because if I had not had the minutes, I could have paid less per day for the package. We chose to just keep the minutes and use them sparingly. Any Platinum and Elite member on that cruise knows what I am talking about. Plus there was no log in and log out button, we actually had to go to a web browser and log in and than had to type signout.com to disconnect. If we did not do that, the minutes kept running and were wasted. Again, it was a poor set up for the loyal members, but Ruby and below didn't get that perk so they where able to purchase the internet unlimited for the whole cruise at 79 dollars. 2nd, the staff on the ship was not the same as typical princess cruise staff. We only had 3 staff that was friendly to us. Yitzak, buffett Steward, Christain and Kemberly in Island dinning room, thank you for serving us. Though this was not the friendliest crew, We will cruise again with princess because we have done many other cruises that have been perfect. The shows where good and the food was good as well. The flavors where not of my taste buds but that did not mean the food was not good. It just meant I like burgers and fries and not Caribbean taste. If I didn't like something, I would just go to buffet and get what i did like. Anyone that complains about the food should just stop to think was it cooked poorly or was it just you didn't like what was on the menu. Overall, I was here to rest and relax and that is what I did. I love Princess and I love this ship. Not everything in life is perfect but you make the best of it and you can still find relaxation. It was much better thank cheesy hotels and fast food!!!!!! First time cruising on Princess, two couples traveling together and we have cruised quite a bit, on carnival, and Norwegian, we all thought the activities on the cruise were quite limited compared to what we were used to. Seemed like even the music around the ship catered to an older crowd (we're in our 50's). The destinations were good and we did enjoy our excursions. Food was okay, we ate in the main dining room and it was fine but nothing outstanding, I personally feel all the cruise lines food in the buffet and main dining room has gone downhill as they now focus on the extra fee specialty restaurants. Overall it was not a bad experience just not as fun as we expect a cruise to be, as I indicated in the title, we aren't old enough yet to enjoy a princess cruise We might try again in 10 years but I doubt it. First Princess Cruise and I was extremely disappointed compared to other cruise lines. I had always thought that Princess was just a cut above the rest but found that their cruises are just the bare minimum in service and performance. First, let me explain that I have been on many other lines before and have paid less for more service and fun. This ships average passenger age was 60+ and quite annoying at times. I have a family and the last thing I need is a bunch of grouchy, complaining, senior citizens around me on vacation. Not all, mind you, but there were enough to make the trip annoying. NCL and Carnival attract a much younger and vibrant crowd. On this ship, the Skywalker Lounge Disco wasn't even opened most of the time. The ships entertainment was really sub-par with only four singers and two of them were grossly off-key most of the time. They highlighted boring themes such as old Broadway tunes and 30's regalia. The ship didn't even have its own band, they sang with trax music! One of their "highlight" shows was karaoke by passengers on the ship! The food was sub-par and anything that was exquisite for dinner was done in one of their other paid-for restaurants. Items such as steak, lobster, shell-fish and upscale dining had to be served in those places and never at dining. There was a lack of dining experiences from around the world like on many other ships. No Asian experiences, no sushi, Indian foods or other such taste treats you find on cruises. Let's face it --- cruises are all about the foods! The dining crew in the dining room did absolutely nothing special except form a conga line at the very last dinner. Desserts were especially boring without any thought to them. There was a lack of entertainment all around the ship. They hired a husband/wife singing and keyboard team that you might find at a bowling alley. There was an orchestra trio that was quite good on the promenade at times. I rarely saw the cruise director (although he loved using the ships public address system) and as for pool deck entertainment, there wasn't anything except a passenger vs crew pool volleyball game. I felt sorry for the young couples that never cruised before because they really didn't get to experience a real cruise here. Usually, there is ice sculpturing, nighttime deck parties with a live band and even an on deck BBQ held at times and Princess had none of this. That worn-out actor, Gavin MacLeod from the old TV show, Love Boat was also aboard signing and promoting his book and there was a line of dentures, wheelchairs and electric fat chairs all around the main deck for him. That was the ships highlight, I guess. I am quite sure I will not cruise with Princess again. I don't see the point of paying more for a bare minimum experience. The cabins were not even that much better. When we went with NCL at least we had beds that were together. This cabin only had a loft bed for the kids. I expected more and got less for this cruise and the number of geezers onboard made it less fun. Some of them cruised with Princess many, many times and at times, acted like they owned the ship in every aspect. No one wants to hear that much complaining when they are on vacation. I did meet some wonderful people, including crewpeople. It's odd that they use so many male crewpeople in the dining rooms and don't have a good mix of both sexes. I will say that the best part of this Princess cruise was the kids club. They always included the whole family and my kids couldn't get enough of their hospitality. The young people from many nations working in this part of the ship were always helpful. The pagers were a great idea too, something I never have seen before on other cruises. As for this cruise, I mark it up to experience and move on to the next adventure with a younger, more vibrant line. This cruise line is as old as Captain Stubing, himself! Read Less

This was my 5th time on this ship and 18th Cruise with Princess. Ship is recently out of dry dock. Still in great shape. They redid the buffet area and made it much smaller. They added a restaurant (Steamers) and (Planks Barbecue). Both are an additional charge for dinner only. This resulted in the buffet being cut WAY down in size. I didn't bring any formal wear on this cruise because the buffet always served what was being served in the dining room. This was not the case on this ship. When beef wellington was being served in the dining room we were served some type of chicken in the buffet. VERY disappointing. What was served was good but entree choices were very few. At lunch instead of carving they had some type of pizza. Shrimp were almost non existent. Never any shrimp cocktail. Staff, Stewards, Waiters and all service personnel were superb as always. Will not cruise on this ship again. Read Less

As an Elite level cruiser, I like the benefits of great, free internet, free laundry etc The food, in my opinion and 19 cruises with Princess, has really sunk The buffet had awful"french toast", which was explained to me as the authentic method, using old bread-- like what!? Yes overproduction dinner rolls, reimagined as morning breakfast, had left over salmon, now some God awful breakfast pizza An insider told me they are losing money badly, must cut food costs so the powers that be told the ship to get creative That is all and well, but ask guest what they think! I had a serious issue with guests not washing hands, and was told they don't have a problem with norovirus outbreaks, so they don't worry! The ship has crew that are warm, helpful, rooms that are comfy mine E 207 quiet, very clean Quick embarkation and disembarkation, entertainment was very good, Bravo show excellent! Read Less

Embarkation and Disembarkation went very smoothly. Not sure if the fact that we arrive late and depart early had anything to do with that, but can't complain about either process. Ship overall was in good shape. I had not been on a ship this small before, so was not sure what to expect. You can tell its not a "new" ship even though there was a refurb completed last year -- I liked the fact that there are a lot of pool options to choose from,,, I think 6 overall... Piazza was nice, condensed across 4 levels... was not a lot going on, but people seemed to congregate in that area. The casino was nice, a few tables for each game and a decent amount of machines... never seemed to be too crowded. Dining was just ok. The buffet breakfast was not impressive at all. Limited items, not much to choose from and never new items... was hoping that each day maybe we would get a new appealing selection... but no. I guess I am used to the Royal Princess level of food and selection... not here. The wait on an omelet was 15-20 minutes... every day you went. Just not impressed. The dining room was definitely better, although not up to the Royal Princess level of selection or quality, but not bad. If you go on this ship, definitely pay for the Crown Grill and Sabatini's, those were the best meals we had that covered 3 of our nights. Entertainment / Activities - Minimal. Didnt hear good things about the entertainment, so never went out of my way to see anything. Overall, did not seem to be a lot of organized activities. I have only sailed RCL and Princess, so I have minimal perspective, but Princess is miles behind RCL when it comes to engaging with the passengers and getting them involved in things. Maybe its just the style of the line.... Would have liked more engagement from the staff there. Service was good.. my cabin steward was very good, waiters and staff were very good. Overall, definely a lack of engagement across the ship though. Didnt feel like everyone was really giving their all. My wife agreed with that... you could tell as soon as we were on-board that something was off with the staff. Not a lot of smiles, hello's, offers to assist. Overall was an ok cruise. Has me thinking I may want to try Celebrity to see how they stack up. Was throughly impressed by Princess on my last 2 cruises (both on Royal Princess), so not sure which is the real Princess.... I chose this cruise because I am an Elite customer and would like to enjoy some perks. Embarkation is always along wait for a wheelchair. Once you obtain one, the rest goes rather smoothly. Disembarkation was a dream. 20 minutes from my cabin to the sidewalk including customs. The wait time for "my time dining" was very long between 630p and 730p each evening. We waited 1 hour each and every evening for our main course to be served. Our other courses came sooner. I do not blame the waiter staff, they are under staffed. Princess has added 2 more specialty dining rooms on this ship and also a separate dining room for "club Class" and suite passengers but have not increased the waiter staff on board. I questioned several employees and was told this. I skipped dinner two evenings because I will not go the buffet and so I snacked at the International Cafe which is always good and any Princess ship. Thank heaven. Elite Perks on Princess are few and far between. There is a cocktail hour each evening but you must PAY for a drink. I never received any special consideration on the wait time for the dining room. My cabin was fine and my cabin attendant was excellent. The piano player at the crooners corner was outstanding. He has quite a following and it was hard to get a seat. The production shows were good. St Thomas and St Martin are still in recovery from hurricane Irma of last Sept. so please consider this when you are touring. The people on both islands appreciate the cruise companies and all the passengers that have come to help their economy. Read Less

First off let me say that we have done 25+ cruises and most of them have been on Princess. We took this cruise as a extended family cruise with one toddler at age three. 2 adults in their 30's and 4 adults in their 50's. The ship was recently renovated and it showed in some areas such as the buffet. Both of the specialty resturants located with in the buffet were used at breakfast and lunch as part of the entire buffet and this made could sense and flow but you really needed to walk through the entire area to see what is being offered. Don't miss the make your own fresh omelet station for breakfast but skip the ramen station at lunch as it was horrendous. Dinners in the MDR were are good and they really catered to our toddler and was much appreciated. We did Steamers specialty one night and if you stick to the seafood pots they were very good. Adding on a lobster tail and king crab for an extra 10 was very good here but a waste of money in Crown Grill. The pizza is now called slice but they still provide the great pizza along with other pizza type specialties every day. The grill is now the Salty Dog and provides the standard dogs and burgers as well as street tacos and an upsell specialty burger. The entertainment was really lacking on this cruise. The show Bravo was excellent but the others were just so so. The biggest issue is the venues that had other entertainment available were not able to accommodate all the passengers that wanted to partake. The islands were the standard Caribbean stops and most are coming back from hurricane issues but still have lots of areas that are still in need of recovery. The lay out of the ship was our biggest disappointment. Some elevators did not go to all the floors and to get to the traditional dining room you had to either take a specific elevator get to deck 7 and then walk down the stairs. The cabin was what we expected as we have had many mini suites and it was very comfortable and the new beds make a difference. The air conditioner did not work very well at all and if you needed a very cool room you were out of luck. The biggest asset this ship had was its crew. They were always smiling and asking if we needed anything. Did not have to wait for a drink waiter in any venue. Hubby said the gym was not big enough for the size of the ship and the amount of passengers. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we liked the 10 nights to some of the islands we have visited before. My wife and I have cruised on the Caribbean Princess 5 times. We really like all of our other cruises on this ship. Everythinng was really good. This time though was really bad for us. Entertainment was sub-par for us. After seing some of the shows and entertainers, I think I will come up with some type of show, and apply for Princess cruises for part time work. There were spots in the different venues that were just placed just to take up the time. Some of the entertainment felt like you were in a nursing home looking at anything that would make some people laugh. Don't get me wrong, I am 71 years of age myself. Most of the time my wife and me are normally walking the floors late at night trying to find something to do. Trying to find entertainment to no avail. Lastly, the food in the dining room was pretty good for myself, but the wife wasn't too impressed. Since she dosn't like fish, she had problems with the menu. She did like about four nights there. Some of the meals that I experienced were really not very good. Princess has always had the best Escargot, but not on this cruise. Why change a recipe that has always worked. The worst I ever had. Those had a bread crust on top. Yuck!!. The waiters we had was outstanding. In fact they were two of the best we have ever had. This includes Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival that we have cruised on. The Marketplace meals was awful. I don't know where these recipes come from. The food available wasn't appealing at all. The names they gave this stuff was really amazing. It looked like yesterdays food made up into something. Some dishes were even there, but no name was given as to what it was. At breakfast there was grits one morning. The other mornings Buckwheat was available. Are you kidding me? That same bowl of Buckwheat sat there the the whole cruise, none missing. The best food was a sandwich station where someone made your sandwich for you. Another was a mimosa cake. It was available one time on the 10 night cruise. Oh yes. This cruise we didn't have to fill out a health form before sailing. Where questions were asked about your health. Colds, coughing, stomach problems, etc. Well there should be monitors throughout the ship. There were people coughing everywhere. I mean BAD coughs. In the dining room especially. These people should have stayed home and not passed it to others, or should have been quarantined to their rooms. The last 3 cruises my wife has come back home with a sickness off a Princess Cruise. She sure didn't come back NEW. Read Less

We picked this ship because liked the itinerary and length of the cruise. Embarkation and disembarkation were excellent. All of the cruise staff was excellent! Could have had more activities on the ship. Most of the entertainment was very good. The dining in the dining room was very good as were the wait staff. We were extremely disappointed with the changes in the Buffet. Much fewer choices in the variety of the food. The food itself was not that good. Seemed as though there was less staff also. At times there was no water available in the buffet. However, the pizza and burgers by the pool were excellent. We have been on this ship several times before and were pleased but it certainly has gone downhill since the last "upgrade". We as well as many other cruisers were very disappointed that they have done away with the happy hour. It was always so much fun. There was a three day turn around for laundry, it used to be the next day. Too many upcharge charge restaurants. The 2 excursions we took were very nice but very expensive! In conclusion, we have sailed on Princess Cruises 20+ times and have always been pleased, so I feel bad about the negative review but I have to be honest. I probably will not sail on The Caribbean Princess ship again. Read Less

Princess Cruise Lines has always been a line with which I personally prefer to travel. I chose this particular cruise due to the value. Not having children allows me the flexibility to travel off-season when I can often get the best value for my money. Having travelled to the Ports of call offered on this cruise, it was nice to see that there were some different shore excursions offered than my previous cruise to these destinations. Princess Cayes in the Bahamas never disappoints if you are looking for a beach day or an adventure with the Southern Rays. This small island is well kept, very clean and offers a variety of fun and adventure for all ages. This was my first time in the water with the Southern Sting Rays. I admit that I was a bit nervous at first but, quickly relaxed once the "handlers" educated me on what to expect and how to interact with these beautiful, docile Rays. They were extremely silky to the touch and very friendly. At less than $40. per person for this excursion, I would highly recommend it for young and old. The group of people I was with ranged in age from about eight years old to sixty. Everyone left with good remarks on the experience. My favourite experience on the Royal Princess was the "Encore" show. It was a very operatic production featuring a guest Soprano who was one of the most talented vocalists I have ever seen on a cruise ship. Even the orchestra was well selected to include a string trio of three ladies from Belarus who demonstrated great skill with classical music. The entire show was one I thought deserved the standing ovations it received. One thing I must caution about is the extremely hot deck surfaces in the adult pool and hot tub area. Don't even consider crossing from your lounge to a hot tub without wearing your flip-flops or sandals. The result will be instant blisters. It happened to me. Wear your flip-flops right up to the edge of the pool or hot tub. Even the steps leading to the pool and hot tubs are painted to look like brown wood. THEY ARE NOT!!! HOT! HOT! HOT! I was not the only burn victim who actually got blisters in seconds. A helpful tip for those who are light drinkers such as myself: you may want to consider ordering the 375ml bottles of alcohol for your stateroom. these must be ordered and purchased online at least a few days or more prior to the sailing date. This option is not available once you set sail. It's quite economical and there is a decent variety of liquor from which to make your selections. I also ordered a soft drink package which included frozen "mocktails" such as Daiquiri's, etc. I knew I would not get the value from the unlimited beverage package at approx. $59. per day. If you do like wine with dinner, ordering by the bottle or a wine package may be a better value as they will re-cork any left from your first use and it can be consumed another time. You may also bring on one bottle of wine or champagne in your checked luggage per person. If you don't consume it in your stateroom, a corkage fee of $15. will apply. Read Less

This is an excellent cruise with the exception of the excursion on Saint Maarten. The Regal princess is not one of the superliners but had all the excellent options typical of a great cruise line. Do not consider the Flying Dutchman/ Rain Forest Adventure. The staff was unsafe, It will take much longer than planned, the service was disrespectful and I’m surprised Princess sponsored them. Shame on the Excursions team for recommending this excursion. The certified diving on St Thomas was very good! The cruise itself was otherwise lovely. The room stewards and dining room staff were excellent. we are pleasantly surprised that the extremely high quality of the entertainment. The shows were Broadway quality. Although the ship was full, the staff handled the volume exceptionally well. The food was excellent, and typical for my Princess experience. We really loved this cruise itinerary! The ports were amazing!! Couple tips were get out an hour early if you make port midday some people waited hours to get into Dublin day 1! Every other port was simple and well done with complementary shuttles in some ports too! Missed tender in guernsey so be prepared if it’s waves you are not leaving! Food at dining room was amazing bring a suit for formal night as menu was awesome lobster and other amazing mains!!! Skip the pricey tours all were easy enough to do yourself or getting a car online or train! Every City was so friendly especially Ireland and Scotland! Visit the willow in Invergordon by station for good local time and the ferry tap in south queens ferry for local fun too! Darkey Kelly was fun in Dublin too best! Shows were amazing!! We caught almost everyone there was always something to do and the sea days were a welcome relief of touring around. The really only stand out bad thing was the disembarkation! One hour late tensions were high there were some bad eggs in our time group and there was yelling and arguing it was crazy to watch and unfortunately our last memory of what was an amazing cruise. I don’t see why people couldn’t simply show staff their plane tickets and leave as priority if their flight was close! Tip do your own disembarkation with your own luggage at 6:15 there are elevators super easy. Read Less

Activities are very dull. Many did not even happen. Very limited sport activities. This is a cruise for people content with doing nothing for a week. Example of an activity= virtual shooting gallery- Shoot a rifle at a video screen several times, up to 5 passengers one at a time= extremely dull and can have more fun at a video arcade for a quarter! OR A make-up seminar where they attempt to sell you expensive make-up. The night time entertainment was fair, but if you have seen their show in the last 2 years on another Princess ship you will probably end up seeing the same show again! The staff is great and very friendly and responsive. The food was great. I would suggest the fixed dining option as opposed to the anytime dining. The anytime dining tended to require a wait if you showed up between 6 and 730pm of 20 to 60 minutes. The daily program is poorly written and filled with 'fluff', without any substance to it. This cruise tends to cater to an 'older' crowd, so if you are under 40 and looking to meet like minded others, think geriatric! Single, looking for other singles, forget it! Shore excursions are average. We went on the St. Maartin zip line/ tubing/skyride tour for $139. A lot of fun. Read Less

Entertainment was OK. The comedian was not very funny, the Beetles show was good. The first production show was average but the Bravo Show was fantastic. They flew in a soprano who sang with the production staff and they were all good. She sang in her own show in the Vista Lounge and was excellent along with the piano, violin and cello players. The Bravo show is not to be missed!! Room steward needed to be reminded several times when we asked for things. Our carpet was not vacuumed each day. Social director leaves much to be desired. She had no personality and rarely did we see her or have a change to interact. We were on the Royal Princess 2 months ago and it was far superior to the Regal. Matt the social director was FANTASTIC. Cabin attendant and dining room staff were much more interactive with the guests. We will go back to the Royal Princess when we book again. Read Less
