Medallion class made cruising so simple! Embarkation was a dream -- we did not wait in line at all. Wearing the Ocean Medallion, our door unlocked as we approached and we could order a drink or food item from literally anywhere on the ship -- no more leaving that lounger for a drink. That said, my favorite part about the Ocean Medallion was being able to locate my "shipmates," AKA my mother! If we were having trouble meeting up (she'd forgotten her phone at home), I could go to any "Ocean Compass" sign (aka Ship Map) or use the app on my phone to locate her. It will be a huge boon when I cruise with my entire family. This trip was just my mother and I. We really enjoyed this particular itinerary: we took to the beach on Princess Cays, having reserved a clam-shell, and then shopped in St. Thomas and St. Maarten. The clam-shell set up was more cumbersome than I'd have liked -- you have to walk quite a ways to get a card to get it set up, and then find someone to help you. They ran out of floats -- not too great for those who had reserved them and didn't get them. I do appreciate the cookout Princess does on their island. It's nice to be able to just stay on the island and have a good lunch and keep swimming. We enjoyed the production shows, as always, particularly BRAVO, and the dancers were amazing. The Cruise Director, Matt, was a hoot - very friendly and accessible. One of the ADs, Andy, was also very visible and fun. Dining was interesting and the service was excellent, as usual. We used traditional dining as we enjoy getting to know other diners and our service staff. We do enjoy the food aboard Princess but miss the escargot and Snow Crab that used to be a part of the menu. We loved the makeover the buffets had received. We ate most breakfasts in the formal dining room because we love their specials, but heard great things about the buffet. All in all, we had a great cruise, our best so far; Princess has made a lot of improvements to the cumbersome parts of cruising like embarkation and disembarkation. Read Less

We took this cruise to celebrate our anniversary and this was the only ship doing the eastern caribbean itinerary at this time. We’ve been on the Caribbean Princess 4 times previously were curious to see the changes after the wet dock. We felt that this experience was more of a 3.5 - 4 rating. What we liked/loved: Service everywhere was very good, and the staff seemed happy and friendly. We were approached immediately in the buffet sometimes by multiple people to ask if we wanted drinks. Club Class waitstaff was attentive and excellent, but we only ate there 3 nights because some night the menu options didn’t appeal to us. Our room steward Renante was efficient and friendly. All of our needs were met and our special requests were handled quickly. Our aft suite views were breathtaking, we felt like we were the only people on the ship when we were out on our balcony. The sound of the wake is almost hypnotic. The cruise director and staff seemed fun, energetic and personable. Breakfast for suite guests in Sabatini’s was delicious with lots of food options and again, attentive service. Really enjoyed the Salty Dog Grill, the pizza, and Coffee and Cones on the Lido deck. Never had a problem finding lounge chairs at one of the pools. And we liked that towels didn’t have to be checked in or out. Loved the salad bar area in the World Fresh Market, and the desserts were plentiful. Thought the Fantastic Journey show was contemporary and fun. Loved the aerialists and the singing and dancing were great. Comedian Troy Thirdgill was so funny, a little edgy and not the typical cruise ship humor so many if them repeat over and over. What we feel could be improved: Started off really liking World Fresh Market until we realized half way through the cruise that food choices were very redundant. For lunch and dinner, we found It was a good thing that we like salads, lol! Lounge chairs on our Vista suite balcony would have been perfect if they reclined all the way (or at all for that matter). Table was too short and not dining height. We would have ordered the ultimate balcony dinner, but didn’t want to eat hunched over. Suite bathroom had no shelving over the sink which was inconvenient and our shower water was cool/luke warm all week. Someone came to fix it, but whatever they did didn’t help. The shelf in the refrigerator door was too short and anything in there fell out every time we opened it. Princess, do you have any women ship designers? And if so, don’t any of them shave their legs? A little shelf or foot rest in the showers would be so convenient. Read Less

The ship had just come out of a yard period in which changes were made to deck 16 & 17 to attract more family cruises. They also did some routine maintenance around the entire ship. Since we have cruised the Eastern Caribbean many times we only we only got off in St Thomas. The ship was in great condition and clean in everything we used. Below was my assessment of this cruise. 1) Service could have been better in the bars and Lido deck. 2) Food was very good. 3) Production shows were top notch. 4) Lounge entertainment was lacking especially having no piano player in Crooners. Heard from a Ship Officer that there were 1500 first time Princess cruisers on this cruise. I guess summer Caribbean cruises will be popular. My cabin D725, a mini-suite, was in the rear of the ship and we could feel pronounced vibrations coming the engines. Think I will stick with cabins more in midship area. If you sail on the Caribbean Princess and enjoy a quiet area to read try the Skywalker Lounge on Deck 19. Read Less

Princess is our preferred criuse line. Took a 14 day European cruise on Princess last year as well and was amazed with the ship experience as well as the excursions. You can relax and enjoy your time and thete is something to do for all ages. The only way to vacation for me now will be cruising. Pools, casino, ocean view, great food, bingo, and night time entertainment all wrapped up in one. It is even better with the medallion, makes everything so easy. Love the room service and speed and quality of the food. Lookung forward to the many many more cruises I will be taking with princess. Bon voyage until we cruise again. Thank you Read Less

I do have to admit a bit of bias for this one- my wife and I got married on this cruise, so we received outstanding extra treatment by the ship's staff including the Captain- Mario Ciruzzi. That said- I saw a lot of mixed reviews for this ship before we headed out. It is smaller than the Royal Class ships I had been on before, but in some ways that made it nicer. It wasn't quite as crowded and was at least slightly easier to get around. We got a mini-suite stateroom (D715) and were very surprised at how much room it had. The cabin was very comfortable with two nice flat-screen TVs and an air conditioning system that actually worked (unlike my previous cruise). Medallion Class embarkation was just as-advertised. After a quick passport check and scanning in our medallions, we went to a nice waiting lounge for the ship to start boarding. It was a lot easier and faster than the old cruise card check-in process. Once we boarded- we explored the ship to figure out where everything was. We went up to check out where our stateroom was, and our steward already had it finished (almost an hour early!). As I said in my summary above- we were very surprised at how much space it actually had. We LOVED the large bathroom and sitting area, and extra-large balcony. The furnishings and ship itself are a bit dated. While the electronic systems have all been updated, the furnishings and decor are a bit older and showing some wear. Everything was clean and in good condition though. Most of the lighting is fluorescent, which I found a bit annoying compared to the instant-on LED lighting of the newer ships. Things I loved about the ship: Lots of pools! They have a Sanctuary pool, but beside it- there are two large main pools and one adults-only pool on the aft side of the ship, along with hot tubs at all of them. This gave us a lot of options for different music and crowds while we were onboard. I think the Explorer's Lounge is an upgrade from "Princess Live" on other ships. Very nice bar area and lounge, with frequent entertainment options. Skywalkers. It has kind of a 70s vibe and I'm not really into dancing, but it is a unique feature that I thought was fun and special about this ship. Negatives: The only real negative I have, which I have complained about before, is the almost-constant marketing, in particular from Effy. Beyond that- the "usual" complaints pretty much everyone has about a cruise ship- I felt like I spent way too much time waiting for lifts, and the food choices, particularly in the buffet, weren't the greatest. The latter is really subjective though. Princess Cays: I complained a lot about this place on my last cruise. This one was better. It was actually raining pretty hard when we first got there, but it cleared up after an hour or so and we had a great time. We rented a clamshell/chairs and a paddleboat, and enjoyed a lot of beach time. The beach is rocky part-way out- so bring water shoes, but the sandy areas and water itself were wonderful. Bar service is still slow- they seem to be trying to implement medallions, but still do all of the orders on paper, which is very inefficient. The food was okay for what it was, and the service there was pretty fast. The only real feedback/complaint I have this time is they really need more showers and foot wash areas. We explored St. Thomas on our own, and overall had a great experience shopping and hanging out in the local bars and restaurants. We were supposed to go on a tour (not arranged by Princess) and the guy overbooked and took off 10 minutes before he was supposed to leave, so we missed it. Fortunately we didn't pay in advance! On St. Maarten we did the SXM Airport Adventure boat, booked through Princess. They had a great bar and food on the boat, and took us around to the bay in front of the famous Princess Juliana International Airport. We watched jets and other planes take off and land while enjoying great music, food, and drink. There was snorkeling and floating off of a platform attached to the boat, and the crew was fun and very helpful. I highly recommend that excursion. After that we explored the local shops and bars, and spent a couple of hours on the beach next to town. There are a few sections there where you can rent a beach umbrella and chairs cheap. (We paid $15 for an umbrella and two chairs for the afternoon.) Debarkation went even more smoothly, as they had "EZ-Check" to our airline (Southwest), so we checked our bags through to our destination from our cabin. I think it took less than 10 minutes from our cabin to the shuttle bus to the airport. This is a great service Princess offers if you can take advantage of it. Read Less

We chose our cabin after my husband researched the aft ones. The view could not be beat, as one can see almost all of the port or other islands. Embarkation/Disembarkation was worse than going through TSA at any airport hub. It totally should have taken a lot less than the 30 minutes, coming and going in Port Everglades. Our cabin did not disappoint, as it had lots of closet spaces and plenty of drawers. However, the bathroom could have used an extra sink and some shelves for toiletry storage. The bathtub, with its jets was a complete dream. So good for a soak and rest! Wished that I could have folded it up, and put in the suitcases! The shower was a good one, with a great showerhead that could be adjusted for different streams. The overall shower needed to have a different kind of door that sealed, as there was a stream of water that escaped out the bottom and flooded the bathroom! Dining did not disappoint...plenty of venues and choices. Whether your tastes run to steak, seafood or ice cream, it was all good. The wait staffs and managers were totally top notch!! We had one of our shore excursions cancel, due to nature, and the others were a complete surprise with the places we saw and areas we viewed! Would do it again in a heartbeat!! Read Less

St. Thomas and St. Maarten are still trying to recover from the hurricanes so I’m not going back there for a while. I would go on the same cruise again ASAP but I’d skip the off ship opportunities. If you are a music fan and or even a karaoke whore like I am, you will love their licensed version of the “Voice”. Princess has an exclusive and they do a great job with it. Of course there isn’t a big contract or check wait for the winner...just a keepsake trophy. I was a finalist and while I didn’t win, I did get to sing on stage to a packed house...lots of fun! Program alert...the food is awesome and everywhere all the time. Don’t go if you are on a diet! Don’t miss the production shows or the staged games like Marriage Match. They are worth the price of the cruise by themselves. Read Less

I've been waiting 50 years to go on a cruise and I hate to say that I picked the wrong ship and the wrong cruise line. The size of our mini-suite was great and the beds were comfortable but the furniture was rather outdated and worn. The couch was a tired green with a few holes and the furniture on the balcony needed an upgrade. The food in the buffet was worse than Golden Corral and there was very little entertainment on the ship. The three sea days we were bored to tears and ended up watching movies in our room each night. I guess if you are 75 or older you might enjoy this cruise with nightly Bingo and knitting classes or playing cards on deck but my daughter and I were so disappointed because we had heard and seen videos from friends who have been on cruises and were told of all the deck parties and all the fun activities on the ships. We never saw any or maybe if we would have known that there was a LGBT convention we would have picked another cruise because there were tons of activities for them or if we had known that 90% of the passengers were over the age of 70, we would have picked another cruise. I wish I could say that the dining was at least good, but I can't. The table we had assigned to us for the whole cruise each night sat over one of the engines I guess, because the whole table and all of our chairs shook every night except one and that is because we were still docked in St. Thomas. There were several menu choices each night but the food was just ok. I had again heard stories about how wonderful the food is on a cruise and how you come back home with a few extra pounds and I can honestly say that I didn't. Our two wait staff that we had for the week were super nice though. I have to give them credit for that. Siti and Dadang were great. The service on deck and out by the pool area was not so great. If you wanted a drink while sun bathing you had to go and get it yourself because there was never anyone walking around asking if you wanted a drink. Also if you decided to grab a slice of pizza, which by the way was the best thing I ate all week and needless to say we ate sliced pizza every day, you could never find anyone to bring you a glass of water or iced tea. It would have been nice if they would have at least had some sort of beverage stations set up around the ship to get a drink without having to pay $10 for an alcoholic one. I believe half the trip I was dehydrated from lack of water. Oh and let me fore-warn you to NOT TAKE PART IN THE TEETH WHITENING in the LOTUS SPA. WHAT A RIP OFF. We got suckered into it because we were told upfront that the cost would be $129 each for teeth whitening that would last 2 to 3 years. Well, after the process was done, you then get told that for it to last 2 to 3 years you have to pay an additional $249. WOW. So the $129 that I just paid is only good for a few days! So I broke down and bought the additional packets that were $49 for 12 treatments, which I was told was only good for 1 week of whitening AND WHEN I GET MY CREDIT CARD PRINTOUT THE GUY TAKES IT UPON HIMSELF TO ADD A $39 TIP. WOW was all I could say. The only good part about the whole cruise was the ports we visited. That was what I was most looking forward to was seeing the beautiful blue waters and that did not disappoint. We enjoyed a nice bus tour of St. Thomas and we had a great time walking through all the shops and open markets of St. Maarten. I will say that come Saturday morning, the day we got back to Ft. Lauderdale, I was up at 5am and ready to get off the ship! At least if you carry your own luggage off, you can disembark at 7:30 instead of waiting until 8:30 or in some cases 9:30 depending on what floor you were on. If I ever decide to go on another cruise I will certainly do more homework of the ship and will probably chose Royal Caribbean for sure! Read Less

If you are under age 60, I would suggest Royal Caribbean for a more upbeat lively time and more activities. For the prices of a princess cruise , the rooms should be beautiful as well as the bathrooms . The pool area is small and lacks enough seating I will say the food is excellent and staff very nice . The World Market where the breakfast and lunch buffet is lacks seating during peak times . The elevators are slow at best and you can barely hear the chime if someone is talking . My sister and I got a great price on the cruise at the last minute. I had been on the Caribbean Princess twice when it first came out, and this was to be my 12th Princess cruise. We last cruised on the Regal Princess twice. What can I say...I felt during this cruise like everything was not...bad....but not up to what I expected and had experienced on my other cruises...not as "crisp"..I don't know..hard to put my finger on. My sister felt the same way. Staff was unfailingly polite! Cabin steward was great! But, for instance...I sat at one of the tables for two in the Cones and Coffee section. Servers or wait staff that usually roam to take plates away and ask if you want anything..well, they would come down so far from each end and then turn and go back. I felt like I was in no man's land. One day, my dirty plate sat there for two hours. No one approached me to ask if I wanted something to drink. Odd. We thoroughly did not enjoy the World Marketplace buffet...breakfast was good as always, but then on to lunch and dinner...great salad makings, fruits, decent dessert choices..but the entrees?? I get it that they are trying to have foods that represent "the world", but one whole section every day was Indian food...another section everyday was mexican food...odd little cups of things like "slaw on the bottom, a shrimp, a cherry tomato, and a dollop of goat cheese! Now I'm making that up, but...stuff like that. Two days of the cruise, the carving station had leg of lamb. One day a giant poached salmon..never a ham, one day a beef at one of the meals... I'm sorry, just not the entrees or support dishes of the past where most of the time, the buffet "mirrored" what was being offered in the dining room. Our experience with the Ocean Medallion thing was spotty. We WANTED to love it and did love some features..but I have an iPhone and every time my display (set for five minutes) went dark, I lost the connection and had to log on again. I tried to locate my sister one day and the app said she was in the casino..which she was...but for the rest of the cruise, refused to show her anywhere else. So I think when the kinks are worked out, it will be great..but it needs work. And, I think the wait staff is so concerned about delivering food and drink to people who order on the app, that they lose sight of the rest of us. Sorry..I'll definitely do princess again, but not this ship, and I sure hope this World Marketplace doesn't go fleetwide. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of its destinations and our first cruise was on Princess 12 yrs ago. The food was great in the traditional dining. We were somewhat disappointed in the destinations themselves. The marine life that you would expect from "The Virgin Islands" did not match our expectations. It would seem they the cruise lines would invest in artificial reefs ect.. to bring in more marine life. The queen bed in our suite was amazing. I would actually suggest doing research on the different ports so you know exactly what you getting into instead of a brochure feeling. The entertainment: the comedian great, the dancing singing programs once you see one you have seen them all. Sure the music and costumes change but it really seems the same. The Voice at Sea was really fun and that was new to us. Also, the cruise director was a pretty funny guy. There was also a female dancer that taught little mini dance lessons "the salsa" and she was a sweetheart. Read Less

I chose this cruise because of the ship size, fewer children's amenities, the ports of call and ship ratings. I especially enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings and during at sea days. The cruise director did a great job lining up varied genres and great talents. The variety of food and dining choices was very good. The mini-suite was large and the beds were excellent. The elevators were right outside our stateroom and we never heard any noise relating to our position. Our steward was efficient, but did not always do as thorough of a job cleaning as I might have expected. The room furnishings were somewhat in need of replacement, but since the ship went into dry dock at the end of our cruise, I would suspect that there will be some upgrades during that time. This was my second cruise with Princess can't say enough good things about it. Princess provides an exceptional experience from the beginning to the end, they honestly think of every detail. We stayed one night in Florida, which made our travel to the ship so much better as we were not exhausted from traveling once we were on the ship. There is plenty to do on board, entertainment at just the right times and time to relax and do your own thing. The spa is amazing, casino and bars were fun, pool time was great - several to choose from and each with a different experience (music, TV, quiet...), entertainment/activities were also really good. So much to choose from, you have to plan your day/activities. The shows at night were so impressive, very talented singers and dancers! Excursions at the islands were so fun! I would recommend the Catameran cruise and snorkling - best time! (Castaway Girl was fantastic at St. Thomas! as was Swimming with the Stingrays on Cays Island) Dining, food and overall service is excellent. Plan to eat one night at the Italian restaurant, it was amazing, best meal we had! Princess does a great job of providing a wonderful dining experience while also serving really great food. I will definately travel with Princess again, such a great cruise! Read Less

We started our holiday with a couple of extra days shopping at Sawgrass Mills, which has fantastic bargains for the British shoppers. The only real downside to our holiday was our arrival. We have since found out that we pre-paid an exhorbitant amount for our transfers and when we arrived at Miami airport, there was no one to greet us and we waited around for 15 minutes unsure what to do as a representative from Princess was not there. The hour delay meant we hit rush hour which is a nightmare in Miami and our 45 minute journey then took 1 1/2 hours. However after that we had an amazing trip. We were unsure whether to do the drinks package as it is quite expensive and In the past we have had a middle of the range drinks package which suited us much better, but it was all or nothing on this cruise. We wouldn't have it again as you had drink quite a lot to get the benefit and taking into consideration you are off the ship on port visits on quite a few days, it would have been better to have bought this as we went. (We also met a British lady who developed an allergic reaction on the ship on the second day of the cruise and was advised not to drink alcohol and they wouldn't refund her drinks package) Compared to British spas , we found the spa on board is very expensive too. However apart from that we had a good experience. There were plenty of sunbeds and things to suit everyone. You can sit on deck by the main pool which always has a lot going on or find quieter spots by the small pool at the stern The food as usual was absolutely amazing and the evening dinners in the restaurant were superb. All the staff we came across were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The entertainment was also excellent and there is almost too much to choose from. Ports of Call We booked the majority of trips before we left England. St Kitts- we had a fantastic day out on a mini speed boat trip booked through Bluewater Safaris. We were picked up in a small bus and given a lovely guided tour of St Kitts from the port to the jetty where the speed boats were moored. We were given a safety talk and they got 2 people per boat and we sped over the water to a ship wreck where we went snorkelling seeing turtles and string rays and a variety of fish. It was a really enjoyable and exhilarating 3 hour experience . Martinique- we had booked a car for the day but the Avis Rental office was a ferry trip away and as the ferries were on strike we had to abandon that idea. Instead we met Awa on the promenade who offered to take us on a trip of the island . This was a fabulous day out and I would highly recommend booking Awa as she was obviously very proud of Martinique and showed it off to its best, stopping to show us the flora and fauna and was so lovely she gave us a hug at the end of our trip. She took us to the replica of the Sacre Coeur, the Balata botanical gardens, where she waited for as long as we wanted to spend there( and were beautiful), to the waterfalls , a rum distillery and St Pierre hit by a devastating volcanic eruption in 1902. I would really recommend booking her (mroad.contact@gmail.com)and although she spoke English we practised what French we knew with her too. Barbados We booked a trip on a catamaran called Calabaza. This had been recommended to us before we left and was another amazing day out. Some of the cruise tours had about 50 people on their boats, but this trip takes a maximum of 12 guests. There was as much food as you wanted, which was beautifully cooked and an endless supply of drinks. We stopped to snorkel in 2 locations and the turtles swam so closely to you it was hard to move out of their way. I didn't want the day to end. Antigua- as we wanted a bit of a relaxing day and we had been to Antigua before we stayed on the ship in this port. St Thomas- we booked tickets to go to the Pirate Museum that has recently opened. This was an excellent place to visit with interesting artefacts recovered from various ship wrecks. Upstairs there were lots of interactive exhibits with people around to talk you through them. For the pirate section we were shown round by a live Captain Jack Sparrow, who was so convincing that I'm sure he must be related to Johnny Depp and was really popular with the children. It was within walking distance of the ship and is situated next to the cable car. We spent a good couple of hours in there and you can just buy tickets on the door. Highly recommended! Grand Turks We spent the day here on the beautiful sand beach and swam in the azure coloured sea. The beach was within walking distance of the ship. Everglades/ Flamingo Park We booked this through the ship as they do like you to vacate the ship early in the morning and rather than wait around the airport all day, it's a nice way to time to pass the time, while your luggage is being looked after . The tour guide was really comical and the wind boats were great fun. The flamingo park was also very good but we were limited on time here. All in all I would highly recommend this cruise , but would suggest it might be more time and cost effective to arrange the transfers yourself as we paid £100s more booking through Princess than we would arranging this ourselves. We have never cruised with Princess but we liked the itinerary to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed! This is a fantastic cruise line. The embarkation was flawless. Our stateroom was ready upon arrival. Everything around the ship was clean always. The entertainment was fantastic. We kept busy going from one venue to the next, not to miss anything. Our favorite was Project 5. They interacted with the crowd and were great musicians. They dedicated a song to us for our anniversary. We were so impressed with the buffet line! So clean and not crowded. Never have seen that on any other ship. We like the any time dining and was seated with a fabulous server, Hardika. He made certain that our dining experience was over the top. The food was good but not fabulous in the Michelangelo. But we were never hungry! We met some of the nicest people on the cruise. The clientele was great. We tried to participate in as much as we could but there was plenty that we just couldn't do. Our room was always clean and in order. The food areas were always clean. The Salty Dog had great food, great pizza. Plenty of pools so there was plenty of shade and room in the hot tub and pool. Easy to get around the ship. Drinks were good. Ports were fantastic! It was so much fun. We will definitely go on another Princess Cruise. Disembarkation was a breeze. Very well organized by all. We were very impressed with all of it. Read Less

I had never visited the Eastern Caribbean ports. I enjoyed the different ports: St. Kitts, Martinique, Barbados, Antiqua. St. Thomas. Grand Turks & Caicos plus the weather was beautiful. The ship staff ( waiters and cabin stewards) were wonderful. The terry cloth robe was nice. We had plenty of hangers. The cabin was small. The balcony did not have a foot stool which I would have liked. My roommate was disappointed that she was not able to obtain a chair with arms. We were told that Princess stopped supply chairs with arms. Entertainment was very enjoyable. Movies under the stars showed recent movies such as the Green Book and Mary Poppins.Touring back stage was interesting. Also was able to visit the kitchen. My Princess excursions as a whole were nice . However, I was disappointed with my St Thomas The EZ luggage check was wonderful. My luggage was checked to my return/final city. I visited Ft. Lauderdale post cruise. Yes, I would go again. Read Less

The Regal is a Beautiful Ship, great places to get out of the sun and relax. We have been cruising for 15 years. Until now we have only cruised with Carnival. We have found a new love for cruising with Princess, and we will not go back to Carnival. This is our second cruise with Princess. the Regal Princess is elegant and sophisticated, tablecloths in main dining room EVERY night! Princess is what Carnival used to be when we first started cruising. Princess has fun activities and parties but they are not wild drunken events you will find on a Carnival ship. Nothing against Carnival but our wild party days are gone, now we just want to relax and have fun without all the excessive drunk people, unattended children running in the hallways and loud music everywhere you turn. We have already booked our next cruise with Princess, 15 days to Hawaii. Read Less

We have been on 20 cruises( mostly on Celebrity) and always in a Suite. Princess Regal was our first on Princess Cruise Lines. This was our best experience yet, by far! The ship docks in Berth 2 in Ft. Lauderdale and arrives at 5:30 am. Because of this, the ship is cleared out very early and able to turn around quickly. We arrived at 9:45 am. We were the only ones at luggage drop off. Walked over to terminal to find only about 30 people inside on line waiting for security screening to open. Five minutes later we were though security and walking to an area where our medallions were scanned. Breezed on up to a lounge to have coffee, tea and snacks until we boarded 20 minutes later. (This lounge is a suite/elite cruiser perk) On the ship at 10:20 and eating at the International Cafe. Rooms were ready as well. So efficient! Medallion opens the cabin door as you approach with your photo on a screen. Muster drill was easy as jackets are no longer required. Ate at Crown Grill first night, and it was delicious. A very special dining experience. The shows were very entertaining, but wait for the 10 o'clock. Seats fill up very early for the 8 pm show. In cabin movies were all the Academy Award Winners and nominees. What a wonderful surprise to have such great movies. They are also shown nightly on the big screen on deck and in the afternoon in the Vista Lounge. Main dining room (Concerto) was easy to navigate for anytime dining. Jelena was the greatest waitress! Suites have a separate section called Club Class which has an enhanced menu. Ate lobster 4 times in one week. So indulgent. Service staff was wonderful. Our suite had 2 separate rooms, a double balcony, a very large bathroom and many closets. Our Concierge Lounge was right across the hall from R 605 (our suite) and featured sandwiches, drinks, sweets and a dedicated staff person to help you with your needs. Also a lending library. Room steward, James, was so efficient and nice to us. He was the best ever. Sabatini's offered a suite br.eakfast which was delicious and elegant . Roland made us feel so welcome each morning. Everything on this ship is so well organized and thought out. They really have it all figured out, unlike so many other cruise lines. Disembark was so easy . Everyone was well informed as to the procedure. We walked off with our luggage at 6:28 am, breezed through customs(no forms) and in a cab by 6:40 going to the airport. Already booked our next cruise Feb of next year on the Sky Princess. Can't wait. Princess Regal sets the standard for all others to follow! Read Less

We chose this cruise to be with friends who were going. The service was pretty good. The room steward as well as wait staff was friendly, considerate and outgoing, with only a very few poor exceptions. Nothing really wowed us though. The stateroom was nice, the bed comfortable, the closet huge, but the bathroom was small and the shower was so miniscule, if you dropped your razor you had to step of the shower to be able to bend over to pick it up. The on-board events were scheduled to promote herding from one event to the next which was uncomfortable at best. The pool decks were mostly quiet and peaceful during afternoons and evenings at sea except 1-hour of DJ one day and one hour of band music the next. They could have definitely used some fun beach music or games poolside. Oh, and the DJ played nothing but canned, pre-mixed mega-mixes the entire trip. Never spoke a word, just clicked the play button and sat back with his arms crossed. Pretty boring and the shortened/blended songs were mostly just annoying. The Ocean Medallion held lots of promise, but the reality is a let-down. Be prepared to let the Princess pick your pocket for internet service to unlock the Medallion or it is just a heavy hunk of jewelry masquerading as a fancy room key. We went on a cruise to get away so Internet access was something we did not want. Most important... If you get the Ocean Medallion ahead of time... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT ON YOU WHEN YOU ARRIVE!!!. No one tells you the only way to get on the ship is with the Medallion in hand. The printed boarding pass only gets you to the gate. The Medallion is required to get on the ship. If you packed it in your suitcase and left the suitcase on the dock as required, you're kinda screwed. Other than that, the food was pretty good, the service was pretty good, the entertainment was pretty good but the whole experience aboard ship was ho-hum. It wasn't awful. Read Less
