We choose this cruise for the itinerary, we had done the first week several times but except for Cayman Islands we were looking forward to all the other ports and had several excursions booked with Princess. We arrived from Europe Madrid Spain in Miami on March 5th at 21.30 we took the shuttle from the hotel and that’s was the first disappointing thing in reception people that should still be at school. This was the Sleep Inn Miami airport, We didn’t sleep all night because of the AC making more noise than the airplanes. Next morning breakfast the worst ever in America it was free but if you going to do bad don’t do anything. We had to go and have breakfast in a nearby restaurant. After another bad night we were happy to leave for Fort Lauderdale. Once on the pier it was leave our suitcases ok then join standing in a queue for over an hour. Embarkation couldn’t have been worst. But finally the luck changed. Our cabin balcony on Emerald deck was absolutely beautiful and clean. Our cabin attender one of the best we ever had clean and you only had to tell her once what your preferences were. Also she was not intrusive. The food was excellent buffet and MDR . We where really sad that we had to abandon ship after one week but health goes first. At first Princess didn’t seem to be up to the job, we found out about our cruise been canceled on TV . But once they got a grip on it they did a very good job and we will book with Princess as soon they are back in business. Outstanding the people at the client attention desk the manager did all he could for us. The day of disembarkation European and people that had been in Europe in the last 14 days where treated differently to others but. The assistante hotel manager a lady of the name of Kara from South Africa managed to put smiles back on our faces. The same cannot be said from the Hotel Manager he was totally out of it and even rude. Read Less

I chose this cruise last Fall because of the ports, length of time in port, and the sailing date. I had sailed on the Crown Princess in 2019 and was happy with that experience. By the time we sailed much had changed. The Coronavirus was escalating slowly when we left Port Everglades so our major change was skipping Princess Cays and a revision to our itinerary. As far as the crew and fellow passengers knew all guests remained healthy throughout the trip. We entered every port and enjoyed all that a cruise has to offer. Enhanced cleaning and precautions caused me to feel safe. As we got toward the end of the cruise many of us were worried about the world we faced upon disembarkation. We were able to relax and enjoy our 10 day cruise while vacationing. The ports were varied and lovely. We met some incredibly nice people from the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada. We enjoyed the comedy shows. Both comedians were great and provided conversation starters at dinner. The weather was perfect for 8 of the 10 days. Read Less

The ship is going to be refurbished soon, and a lot of the wooden surfaces need refinishing, and this is an older ship than others, but we had a wonderful cruise on Crown Princess. The crew was wonderful. The Cruise Director did just the right amount of talking/not talking. The Cruise Director's staff put on a wonderful game show called Hollywood Hiccups that was the funniest and best I've ever seen. Ocean Medallion made it easy to locate all of our friends and join them at any time for lots of fun. One of the two big generators had a problem, and we couldn't go fast enough to get to Princess Cays, so we skipped and got an onboard credit. That's our favorite port, and we were disappointed, but the rest of the cruise was wonderful. That generate should be fixed when the ship goes for refurbishment. They were sanitizing handrails, tables, etc. all the time. They sprayed pool loungers every night with sanitizer. We felt safe amidst the virus pandemic. The food was excellent, the entertainment was excellent, and we had a great time with our friends. Read Less

Received credit from a prior cruise to use. We picked Sky as she is new. Pros- Crew is wonderful. Very friendly and hard working. Entertainment is the best I have seen on a ship. Includes Production shows, movies, comedians, magician, musicians and Award winning singer from Americas Got Talent Brian Justin Crum. Ship is big, new and very clean. Big private island to visit (Princess Cay on Eleuthera) Fastest boarding and embarkation I have experienced. Numerous bars and special events with crew. Our granddaughter enjoyed the camp and ice cream. Cons- Fair. Best meal by far was Sabbatini. French Restaurant was so bad we walked out and went to the buffet. People permitted to reserve chairs on sea days. Management should be out controlling this. All deck chairs need to be placed out for passengers. I observed stacks of lounges. Liquor is expensive. Bring your own. We booked Rm S204 on Deck 17, Forward. A mistake. The first night was rough weather and you felt every wave. In addition, the room creaked (door, ceiling, furniture). Could not sleep. At 1:30am maintenance came to try to fix and finally we obtained a new room at 3am. The room should not have passed a shakedown cruise. They did give us a credit to use on another cruise. Read Less

Had to cancel prior booking in November 2019 and not much selection on short notice. Always sailed Princess in the past. This was the second largest in their fleet with 3500+ passengers. Too many guests for my taste. Service was poor and most staff unfriendly. Head Waiter forgot it was our 50th Anniversary and we didn't get our celebration package. Very disappointing since this was the reason for the cruise. Daytime poolside activities were few and live music was missing the first three days Movie Under the Stars ran all day at max volume which made for difficult reading and no write time. Food selection in Horizon Buffet lacked American cuisine. Geared all towards all International foods. Pizza at Alfredo's Pizzeria was excellent. Catamaran Excursion to Turtle Cove was fantastic. Captain Joe and his crew were terrific. Great way to spend a few hours. This was my only cruise on Princess where I was very disappointed. All past cruises were great. Read Less

Ocean now is cool for ordering beverages, but non-alcoholic drinks were limited on this. I could not use it for a non-alcoholic beer. There was no place to make any notes about order. But it is cool that your first drink delivered on Ocean Now (under $12) is FREE! So don't neglect checking it out. Frustration: two sisters in same stateroom. All the venues just asked stateroom number and many times put items on wrong account even when we specified clearly which account. Other random items appeared on account and I had to remove. I heard one lady saying every day 2-3 drinks appeared on their account which were not theirs, and they had the drinks package! So some glitches still on medallion. I find it helpful to use the medallion app to check daily on my account. Don't wait until the end of the cruise when you cannot remember. We went to book the Sanctuary for a sea day. I waited until boarding because I wanted to use onboard credit. MISTAKE. All sea days were full in Sanctuary. We did it one morning on a port day instead. Lovely, comfortable, quiet place to relax for only $20 for half day. That's only $5 per hour! Next time I will book before we arrive. They also have a special lunch menu, some of the best food I had onboard was here! Our excursions were both pretty lame. Clear-bottom kayaks at Princess Cay. We were in a lagoon in about one foot of water. No fish anywhere. We saw only 2 starfish and one jelly fish. I wish we had been able to be in a deeper area which actually had some fish to see! For St. Maarten our ship was so late, 3pm! We had a privately booked excursion but had to cancel because of arriving so late. So we got on the ship's "Under 2 flags" tour. Boring. Stops were a few minutes at one overlook, a few minutes at a place all the busses stopped convincing us to buy fresh ice cream (which I heard was good) which was overpriced, and 20 minutes only in Marigot at an open market where people were closing down for the day, but did stay open a bit longer for our busses. At least I got to step on the French side and got to buy a few island style dresses for my grandchildren. The Club Class dining room had excellent service. I heard so many good things about Alfredo's pizza place but was extremely disappointed. At least there was no charge for that. The only really bad and bordering on rude service I received was at the bar overlooking the back of the ship. Yes, they were busy, because it was embarkation time. But that is no excuse for rudeness. Most everyone was really nice everywhere else and really tried to do their best to give fantastic service. I would cruise on this ship again. But I wish they would have dance hosts so ladies traveling without a man could dance! Cruise ships used to do this. And they need to fix some of the glitches with the medallion. Ideally, each server can scan the medallion so 2 people sharing the stateroom do not have the problems we did. Read Less

We had a great cruise despite a couple of small hiccups. This ship was beautiful, clean, the staff was all great and friendly all seemed very happy and eager to help. The ship had plenty of activities, all fun, the shows were great, the comedian was hilarious. The food was all great, plenty of selection. The main dining room was great our waiter was fantastic everyone was excellent in service. Our room was always clean, even throughout the day it was refreshed. Ship mechanical errors did cause two delays getting to two different ports. The first delay was very short but the second delay set us back 3 hours and our excursion had to be canceled. we were immediately refunded the cost of the excursion but it did put a damper on that day in port. Unfortunately mechanical issues can't be predicted but the crew was as accommodating as possible in the circumstances. one small issue with the TV not working but it was quickly resolved and we even received onboard credit as a Goodwill gesture which was very nice and appreciated. Overall a great cruise a great ship great crew and staff and we would definitely sail with Princess again. Read Less

Ship is beautiful but it caters to the 80 something crowd. Drinks are small and watered down. The wifi package only works if you have an iPhone, but I do not. The medallion app never worked with the exception of opening the cabin door. The food was just so so. The portions are small unless ofcourse you go the the buffet, but can you go to the buffet daily? The medallion was supposed to allow you to order drinks or meals by the pool without leaving your chair, however it never worked. It always stated the service didn't work at this location. It only worked if you where standing at the bar. Because this service was to be working, they didn't have staff walking around to take your orders. If you were bored and wanted to play bingo, you had to pay for it. Room steward was excellent. Check your onboard bill often. I had drink charges even though I paid for drink package. Read Less

Beautiful new ship. Loved the medallion, worked well other than delivering one of our drinks to the wrong person who happily drank his freebie LOL. Easiest embarkation ever, breezed thru and aboard in under 15 minutes. Fantastic service throughout especially in the dining room. Used anytime dining that works well for us, used 5 out of the 7 nights. Enjoyed the shows in the theater and we really liked the musical entertainment. Listened to the jazz musicians several times in the Take 5 lounge and we were very impressed. We also really enjoyed Captain bye bye (you had to be there). The only disappointment was we thought the buffet was not as good as we have been used to on previous Princess cruises. Also the pizza, burger and ice cream locations on the Lido deck closed @ 10 PM each night too soon IMO. But we love Princess and I'm sure we will sail with her again. Read Less

This was our 1st cruise since moving to central Florida. We drove down the morning of the cruise and parked at Park ‘n’ Go near the port. We had prepaid for the parking and we were quickly bused to the terminal. We had loaded the Medallion app at home and uploaded all info including photos of ourselves. Our medallions were scanned, we received a map of the ship and were in our stateroom in record time. I made my way to Slice Pizzeria on the Lido deck and in 10 minutes we were on the balcony enjoying the delicious pepperoni pizza with the Dos Equis from the Elite mini-bar in our fridge. What a great start to our cruise! We loved our stateroom D424. The extended angled balcony was so much roomier than a normal balcony and the mid-ship location was quiet and convenient. Due to the limited walking ability of my DH we stayed on board during this 7 day cruise. While we were docked at the ports it was a perfect time to chill at the mid-ship pools with an outdoor lunch from the World Fresh Marketplace. We loved most of the changes from the Royal. Eliminating the Lido deck fountains to add a pool was a big plus, however the retreat pool area now has very limited seating. The aft pool is lovely and not crowded. A big disappointment for my DH was that there are no stairs to enter the pools, only ladders. This is not very senior friendly in our opinion. The new layouts and furnishings in Princess Live, the Vista Lounge and Take Five were very nice. One of our favorite times was enjoying the Platinum lounge most evenings for a pre-dinner drink and snacks at the Vista Lounge. We enjoyed specialty dining at the Crown Grill on embarkation night with our friends Paul and Judy. The meal was delicious and it was so nice to share it with good company. Later in the cruise we took advantage of Steamers, a specialty dining opportunity in the Marketplace. The steamer pot was wonderful and the side and dessert also. The setting was very pretty with special china and table cloths and we thought it was well worth the $12 per person charge. I purchased a coffee card to enjoy unlimited brewed coffee, after dinner cappuccinos, frozen coffee fusions, and my evening chamomile tea. This is so easy now that it is loaded on the medallion and there is no paper card to worry about losing. Cruise director Corey was everywhere and always upbeat and fun. This cruise had so many activity and entertainment opportunities it was hard to decide where to go in the evening. I participated in Zumba and Line Dancing and my DH and I enjoyed the 5 Skies production show, comedy and magic acts, silly game shows, and more. Thank goodness we somehow managed to pack for this trip in a single suitcase and carry on. I was able to handle the luggage and we made our way down to the deck 5 dining room at 6:15 a.m. on disembarkation morning to await clearance from the authorities. Shortly after 6:30 we exited the ship. We were told to have our passports in our hand, we looked into the face recognition screen and we left the terminal. It was amazing! We walked to the shuttle area and boarded the waiting Park ‘n’ Go bus. By 7:30 a.m. we were in our car with an estimated arrival time to our home of 11:30. We didn’t miss going to the Ft. Lauderdale airport one bit! Read Less

Too many issues and this from a platinum cruiser on Princess. There has been a very noticeable degradation in our last two cruises on this line (Sky and Diamond). Here's the good: -New ship with attractive decor, some new venues (Alfredos..) but lacking a library! -Fast, efficient embarkation in Ft Lauderdale and cabin ready when boarded @ 12:30 -Cabin steward one of worst we've had in 20+ cruises. No water or ice on first day; likewise the requested robes were also missing. Had to call Housekeeping and Room Service but they weren' t delivered until next day after second call! Steward left condescending notes like "left ice bucket where you can see it!"-we knew it was in the fridge but there was no ice in it!!! They charged us for the delivery of the robes and several wine glasses!!! Steward would replace dirty glasses but if there was any liquid in one he left it!!! Not once but every time!! He never delivered the debarkation instructions. -Long qeues for anytime dining and theater shows. You had to line up about 15-30 minutes and then when seated (if you were lucky to get a seat) had about 50 minutes before showtime!!! -Elevators--there were several out of service much of the time while you had long waits most of the time. The worst was debarkation when you had to wait 20-25 minutes to catch one and only after deciding to "go up" to "go down". -Debarkation was a zoo--couldn't get an elevator and a there was a mob scene in the Piazza -Excursions-Only took one CZM 001 and it was very good--small group (12) on a new Mercedes mini bus with an excellent guide Addy. This was a self guided tour of the Tulum ruins which were spectacular. Had been here twice before in 90s and again in early 2000s and the transformation has been incredible. -Cabin (mini suite) sizes were somewhat smaller and balcony definitely skimpier. -Specialty restaurant-Crown Grill was excellent--best meal on the cruise. Steaks were huge, moist, tender and perfectly seasoned and cooked. Sides were plentiful, varied, tasty and served homestyle. Best part--Yogi and Dejan who made the evening special! -As Platinum cruisers expected a little preferential treatment but got the same as first time cruisers!! All in all, were disappointed in the experience and likely will not return! Read Less

We chose this cruise to utilize the $$ that they us owed because of skipped port on a transatlantic cruise. Also, we spend the winter In Fort Lauderdale so it's an easy choice. There are lots of things to recommend this ship but I'll start with a big downside - the inside cabin. we've always like an inside cabin for a variety of reasons but this was the smallest that we've seen. But the biggest problem, and the one that you should be aware of, is that this cabin is said to be able to house 4 persons. Nooo. In addition to the queen-size bed there are 2 fold-down cots. That's the problem. There about 18 inches of space on either side of the bed. The cots are mounted on the walls alongside the bed and extend about 10 inches into the room (when not opened). So to get into and out of the queen-size bed you get about 8 inches of space. You can't negotiate your way into or out of the bed without bunking your head 2 or 3 times. This room should come with a surgeon general's warning - like a pack of cigarettes. It is harmful to your health. To get into the bed safely you need to crawl into the bed from the foot of the bed. That being said - the bed is very comfortable. The TV in the room is great - good news shows and good movies and more. Dining - we liked the food and arrangement in the buffet. We had breakfast and lunches there. The main dining rooms were easily available for anytime dining of reservations. The food was fine and the service was good. (We are not fussy about food.) Entertainment - There were 2 production shows. 1 - "Two Skies", this was a high tech video game show. It was well done but we did not like it. We overheard other voice similar opinions. Perhaps it might have suited a younger audience - but not us. 2 - "Rock Opera", we like this a lot. The performers were great and I sensed that the show was well received. Other nights in the main Princess Theater showcased a singe one night and a magician on another. A cheap way to keep 4,000 passengers busy. However, there are lots of smaller lounges where there are always entertainers whos do a very good job. Good variety of musical acts from jazz to string quartet to guitar, ect. So lots of good entertainment all around the ship in the evening. Daytime activities like bingo, line dancing lessons is just not our style. Pool - the 2 large major pools are just too deep and too hard to get in and out of. But I was really surprise that there were we no lifeguards. (That's surprising and distressing. Royal Caribbean does a great job in that category.) The Wakeview pool at the back of the ship (on 16) is very pleasant - shallow, warm but crowded. We liked it. Medallion Class - this gimmick was really nice. You wear a "medallion" around you neck (in place of the usual cruise card). It automatically opens your cabin door, lets you charge stuff, find your friends, see the daily schedule, and much more. Paired with Medallion app on you cell phone the technology works great. You even get a free drink (one), delivered to you almost wherever you are, the first time that you use it. WIFI worked fine (most of time). Handwashing at the buffet. They are not serious about this. Small areas, 1 or 2 sinks, tile floors in the areas, always wet and slippery. Most folks pass them by. It's a really nice ship. Nothing spectacular but very nicely laid out and comfortable. Photographers always present but never annoying. Read Less

My wife and I are Elite on Princess and other cruise lines and we think we know what's what. This is a new ship and has that new car smell. The decor has been modernized in the common areas and in our mini suite cabin. The bed is great along with the cabin robes. We love the mini suites with the two TV's and traditional balcony, not like on the Edge that did away with the balcony, the curtain separation between the bed area and the sitting area. Dinning in the anytime restaurant and the Crown Grill and Sabatini's was excellent. Internet was excellent and reasonable. Medallion Class means nothing to us except to open our cabin door. The new small pool in the aft on deck 16 now makes the prior quiet area too busy as folks now set up their deck chairs early like on the main deck but it is quieter. Nice sofas and chairs are gone. Just sit up tables and deck chairs if you can get one. Real problems are the new World Fresh Marketplace. Breakfast is ok but the lunch buffet is terrible. What have they done? Poor food selections...poor quality...poor presentation. Who is responsible for this screw-up? This is a major downgrade. Another major problem for us who enjoy dinning at 8PM is the show times at 6:30 and and 8:30PM. Because of this we missed several shows. Who the heck wants to go to a 6:30PM show when you have been out and about all day. That is unless you came with small children and want to put them to bed early or you are early bird types and the cruise line panders to these folks which is wrong. Not good at all. Ports are just average which is par for much of the Caribbean. Read Less

The itinerary and date were selected for us by the special entertainment package we had purchased. Ports were adequate, although could have done without Princess Cays. Our cabin had a lingering stale smell, which was unusual for Princess. Didn't go away even with leaving deck doors open for fresh air most of the time. Stewards seemed puzzled. Might have been solved by carpet cleaning or just use of Febreze. The Regal Princess was newly refurbished and quite nice. However with all of the contemporary digital accessories there are still only plug in charging stations in the cabins. At least one USB port would have been helpful. Food selections and menus were wonderful, as always. Morning room service was fabulous so we could have coffee on the deck and watch the sunrise. Ship entertainment is still wonderful, although productions/programs are shorter. Availability and variety of entertainment and programs is a Princess plus! Read Less

An absolutely terrible experience. Firstly, I did a lot of research to choose the right first cruise for myself and my husband. We tried the Sky Princess because it was a new ship and it seemed to provide what we were looking for. What did we know?! It was our first cruise. We bought the premium drinks package which cost us £800+ for 7 days and yet this did not include the basic drinks like a slimline tonic or water in our room. We were charged 9$ for drinking a bottle of water left in our cabin with no label. We did not ask for this, it appeared and then appeared on our bill. When asked for slimline tonic, we were told this was not included but rather we could get tonic from the bar tap which was not diet. Very disappointing. The food was diabolical. It catered for only Americans, it also had no spice and tasted bland. The market place buffet had very poor quality food and the food was also cold or luke warm. This area was crowded, disorganized and univiting. We also booked a meal in the Crown grill. I had to send my steak back as it was served blue rare after I asked for it to be medium. They took it back and cooked it further and re cooked the fries and returned them to the plate. The steak was very fatty, the fries were inedible. We left the restaurant very unsatisfied. A lot of pompus ceremony only to be disappointed. We opted for anytime dining which produced mass pre cooked food with very little flavour and dry. Bread is placed on all tables sometime before the restaurant is open and so it is cold and hard. The service in this anytime dinning was terrible too, particularly the Ciello restaurant. The waiters had absolutely no pride in their job. They were forgetful and focused only on hovering around those tipping. Do not go on this cruise for entertainment unless you are in to line dancing and listening to string cortet. I am 54 years old and my husband is 47. We were totally bored. The majority of people on this cruise were 80. There were Zimmer frames everywhere. Not the cruise for us. We found out about the basketball ball court where we could shoot some balls in the net and also a mini golf area on the penultimate day of our cruise. These areas were at the top of the ship on level 18 and they were not advertised. The ship was crowded and those who were slightly younger (60-65) liked the sound of their voices so much they added to the terrible experience. Of course these were Americans. Our favourite part was getting off the ship 3 times during our cruise. The rest of the time was awful. We purposely did not pay for tips ahead of our cruise as we decided we wanted to tip those who deserved it. Our room attendant was very good. That's were it stopped. Maybe we received terrible service because the waiters knew we had removed the tips. We started tipping everyone but soon stopped this. We don't believe in being responsible for topping up peoples salaries for the sake of it. The elevators on this ship are terrible. They are on either end of the ship and you will find you have to wait quite some time for the lift to arrive on your floor. We were on level 17. We ended up walking most of the time. I could go on but really do not have the energy. This cruise is all about money. We thought our drinks package had it covered. I will finish on positive note. The bed is the most comfortable bed we have slept in. The shower is very powerful and the cabin was acceptable but did not provide tea or coffee facilities. We will not be cruising with Princess again. Read Less

Princess market their ships as 5 star cruising. The reality is totally different. We were so disappointed with this Caribbean cruise. My husband and I are in our 50s and were bored to death. This has never happened before in over 15 cruises. We were on the Sapphire last year and really enjoyed it but not this one. Food is terrible. We are British and like hot food. The buffet was cold at breakfast lunch and dinner, not even lukewarm. Selection of food is poor, same stuff every day. We tried the Soleil anytime restaurant twice and found it just as bad, like school dinners. Hardly any fish. Mac and cheese every day plus you had to ring at 8am to book a table even though it was supposed to be anytime dining. We were on the Indy in Sept and the food was fantastic, miles better than the Sky. We are not going with Princess ever again despite being shareholders. Cunard and Royal Caribbean are far better. Entertainment is even worse, we were on the 2 week cruise and Princess don't tell you these are treated as 2 separate cruises so you get the same shows again. Only 3 production shows, all awful, one totally incomprehensible and one ridiculous one with puppets. 2 comedians and 2 magicians. You had to get to the theatre 45 mins before the shows to get a seat as other public venues were hired out to private parties. Never experienced this before on other ships. Lots of stupid gameshows and quizzes all aimed at Americans. Hardly any Brits on board, 90 per cent are American. We sat in our cabin reading most of the time as there was nothing to do. Complete waste of money. Sailing down from Miami there were huge waves and very rough seas for over 2 days, ship really rocked around, creaking and groaning all night, swimming pool water splashing up really high, I couldn't sleep. Lots of people being sick, but no extra entertainment laid on. Cruise director only hosted the gameshows and was never seen around the ship, loved the sound of his own voice. Some staff friendly, but many others didn't seem happy in their work. Guest services in particular do not want to help the people who pay their wages. It rained all day in St Thomas and Roatan, and Cozumel was cloudy. Worst cruise ever. To cap it all, our overnight Heathrow flight home was diverted to Bermuda for a medical emergency at 2am. Just finished two weeks on the Sky Princess and what a disappointment. Food was hardly fresh in the World Fresh Marketplace. We were surprised to find RAW chicken on the serving line. When we show it to the Chief - he had nothing but excuses although he did immediately remove the item from the line. Dining room food was barely average. Cabin steward's are being asked to handle more cabin's (heard as many as 18) and that is clearly impacting their performance. Glass shelves in the bathroom was not cleaned for embarkation. Room didn't get vacuumed every day. Our balcony was never cleaned and the salt build-up on the table was shocking. Dining room waiters must being asked the same because service in the dining room was terrible. Our waiter even apologized several times for the poor service. Elevators were often out of service. Wake-up call system was inoperative. The production shows (Rock Opera & 5 Skies) were great. Brian Justin Crum was fabulous. Unfortunately, Princess Cruises is/has been moving away from entertainers to more game type activities. Using facial recognition technology during disembarkation is a huge improvement. Sky Princess needs some time to tighten-up everything before I would recommend this ship - six months as a minimum. Read Less

NOTES: - I would rate 3.5 if i could. We chose this cruise for our annual Caribbean vacation because it was new, and we were trying to decide (after 40 cruises!) whether or not to make Princess our first choice. Based on our Sky Princess experience, we're not ready to make that commitment right now. - We actually did a back to back on 1/11/20 and 1/18/20 There are a lot of positives about the ship - the atrium/piazza is stunning; the entertainers on board were fantastic; the crew worked hard; our inside cabin was great (we love the amount of storage and the layout of Princess cabins); the Captain (Michele Tuvo) was a joy; the International Cafe is still our favorite hangout spot on any ship from any of the 5 lines we've cruised (Princess, Celebrity, Disney, NCL, Royal Caribbean). We also found that the medallion itself worked well, the drinks were reasonably priced, and we didn't feel pushed to buy extras like drink packages or specialty dinners. We also had a great experience in Sabatini's and thought that Alfredo's was excellent as well. And, the staff at Guest Services and the wait staff in the International Cafe/Belllni's was oustanding. Some things were just ok - like the food in the main dining room and Crowne Grille (which we usually think is first rate). We thought the menu choices, especially for appetizers, soups and salads, seemed far more limited than on previous Princess cruises. Internet service was adequate, but not stunning. But some things were downright frustrating and disappointing: Anytime (select) Dining - although Soleil was the "all the time anytime dining room" there were literally hundreds of people with advance reservations. We were told this was because there were big groups on board and a lot of people wanted traditional dining so they ran out of room in the main dining rooms. All I know is it didn't feel like anytime dining to me. Anytime dining means (to me, at least) that everyone in that category competes equally for seats in the designated dining room. Yes, you can make a phone in reservation on the ship the morning of the same day, but that's it. We found it very frustrating to stand in line with all the other anytime diners and literally watch a couple hundred people walk past us to their "traditional dining" tables in our very limited-seating dining room. Venues - the main theater was a point of major frustration. Af the welcome show our very nice cruise director warned everyone to come early, especially for the production shows if we wanted a "good seat". How early? Over a half hour. He should have said an hour - which is how early we had to go and sit in the theater to get a good seat - and sometimes that wasn't enough. We are not willing to give up an hour of our time every night to get a seat for a show, and no ship should be designed to operate that way. Further, the design of the theater means the right and left 25% of the theater on the lower level can't see 1/2 or more of the stage. All of this caused some frustrations and conflicts among passenger. What's the answer? It seems 3 shows per night is the only answer - you can't redesign the ship at this point. Princess Live was not much better - to get a seat for the activities (game shows, etc.) you had to arrive at least 30 minutes earlier. Poor design. Answer? Not sure - Vista isn't a very good venue. The Piazza was also used as a venue and once again it's not big enough. To get a seat where you could see events like "Dancing with the Stars" you literally had to get there an hour early. No additional seating was positioned, nor was existing seating rearranged, to provide the best possible visibility. The same was true for the carving demonstrations. It was left for passengers to fend for themselves, move chairs, and sometimes find themselves in conflict with other passengers. The Medallion Apps were frustrating. Locating shipmates worked well, and so did messaging. But the ability to order drinks was spotty at best - many times the app was no able to identify that we were on board. Also, the user interface is not good - there's not much intuitive about it. And, the daily schedule doesn't contain important information like the evening dinner menu! So as a bottom line - our experience was that it was just too frustrating to be fighting for seats all the time. The ship has too many passengers for the size of the venues it offers. Maybe that's because a good portion of the ship has been given up to the "luxury crowd" that pays extra for suites, concierge service, etc. All I know if my frustration level was up, there is no longer a front observation lounge to relax and enjoy views of what lies ahead, and we left feeling there are better choices for our next cruise. There is a lot to love about cruising with Princess, but for us, the Sky Princess is not one of them. Read Less

We have cruised with Princess over fifteen times. The service, food and drink staff were outstanding on the Sky. The medallion worked great, the staff greeted us and had our drink orders almost instantly. Our balcony cabin on the Sun deck was modest in Interior size but had a nice deck for two reclining chairs. Being right next to the adult pool was very convenient. Entertainment was wonderful, the Rock Opera was a stand out. Our late dining crew jumped at every request. The chefs table dinner was truly extraordinary, very lucky to have been chosen. The events crew always had lots of activities for us to participate in. The shops were expensive, especially for jewelry. The daily afternoon tea truly differentiates Princess in the luxury cruise market. Spa service was very personalized and not overpriced. Ability to check our invoice in the room or on our I phone was wonderful. The internet service has to be reset once or twice but the best service I experienced at sea. All in all the best cruise we have ever experienced on Princess, highly recommended. Read Less

Sky Princess Jan 11, 2020 cruise. Awesome and a beautiful ship. Pastels, tans, blues, green. Low maintenance construction. Chrome, stainless, anodized aluminum, PVC over the outside railings. Rubber gaskets for the windows, not calking, brass, wood of different varieties. All beautifully executed. Music just about everywhere, all the bingo and trivia you can handle. More than any other ship we were ever on. Casino has multitudes of new slots. We donated. Bingo was hosted by “Fortuna Luck” That is what she called herself. An excellent bingo host. Lots of fun. Rafel Urdaneta worked in the Casino and gave out the bingo cards and the pads. Could never do enough for everyone. Always helpful and a smile. The best deal was $69.00. You get the pad with 36 cards on it, a triple card for four games and a $5.00 scratch off. Last game, last day of the cruise cover all gave away over $2,700.00 won by 3 people. Over $900.00 each. Not us. 7 bingo sessions, not every day. Some twice a day. Trivia was done in a way all ships should do it. Deck 7 Live with a large screen. In large letters. Gives the Question and number. So even if the host has a heavy accent, you can easily read it. Every day was enjoyable. Slice pizza we did not care for. However Alfredo’s pizza and service was excellent. Our server Nipan Kalita was on the ball and always a smile. The steak house was no good and no service either. Terrible! First to be seated at 5:00PM. Decided no appetizer. Wanted to get to the 6:30PM show. Ordered the Filet Minion. 40 min. later it showed up. Steak and the mashed potatoes were warm and did not bring my asparagus. The waiter never returned to our table. Finally got the desert and left. 6:40PM. Never made it to the show. No excuse for that. By the way. The filet was on tough side, no flavor either. They need to learn from Alfredo’s. Carnival still has the very best at sea steak house. We no longer do the MDR. Only the buffet and the specialty restaurants. The buffet is super big. No lines and never a problem finding a table. Utensils are wrapped up in the napkin and on the tables. In the evening, it is like a restaurant. Place mats and stemmed glasses for water. Anyone will get your drink for you, even the bar. Kept the tables cleaned. The food itself could be hotter. However the variety was excellent. Quality was also excellent and the deserts were unbelievable. Not just cake. Comedian was very good, magician was excellent. Rock Opera was excellent. Had no real problems at all with the elevators. Just those that enjoy packing themselves in one that is already full. Our balcony state room E429 was very nice but, very small. Including the super small bath room. Shower was fine. Cruised on 30+ different ships. This was the smallest by far. Beds were very comfortable and our room steward Thomas from India, was up and above. The best we ever had. So all in all, a very enjoyable cruise with really no down side. Our first evening we had super rough seas and the coat hangers kept banging the open closet walls. You can see what I did to stop it in the picture. Put a towel over the hangers. The medallion worked fine. However the daily things to do before you take the cruise is not the same. It changes. So do not do what I did. Figure out what you want to do each day in advance. A waste of time. Do we recommend the Sky Princess.? We sure do. Read Less

We took this cruise because it is a new ship and the Princess name would give us a more mature crowd with less children. The plan worked great , not many children and adult ages were mostly 50s to 70s . The cabin was standard , Balcony could be larger .Cabin was new and everything worked with no problem. The bed was very soft and comfortable . Great band every night in the atrium ( they called it the piazza area ). Old folks like to dance to 60s through todays pop dance tunes and we went every night to dance with that band. The Medallion that is your room key didn't always work or connect correctly . there were four of us in our group and all had the same issue. Make no mistake , It is not easy to set up the Medallion on the ship. You will need help and will find help I think it was on deck 5 ? The Medallion did work great with embarkation as long as you do the prep work at home before the cruise. al in all I think when they get the bugs out it is much better then the cabin card . It did work great to find fellow passengers location on the ship and give you directions to find them. We had open seating and that worked out for us . The food was great in the dinning rooms .We did not use any specialty dinning options. The food court was typical of other cruises . Hamburger station could be better ( our last cruise had a Guys hamburger grill that is hard to beat ). The food court ,Hamburger grill and Pizza bar closed early every night at 10 PM . So that after the main show in the theater if you wanted to get something to eat you were limited to a small snack bar on I think it was deck 4 ? Not much to choose from. I guess because It was an older crowd and the ship did get quiet after 10:30 pm. There is an Alfredos pizza on deck 7 that was included and there was no additional charge .Its a sit down great pizza and salad restaurant but also closes at 10 PM. Room steward was great , refilled toiletries every night . No towel animals but ive seen enough of that, this was my 13th cruise. Princess main theater was great ! Live Orchestra with a real drummer ! I hate it when they dance to backtracks . A backtrack is like a glorified karaoke system . The live band and dancers , Magician and comedian were great . Don't miss the shows ! No problem getting a lounge chair on upper decks, a lot lot of older folks sit in the shade. "The Sanctuary " is on the upper deck and reservations can be made to use it by the half or full day . I went on embarkation day but they were all booked up . You can only book the Sanctuary on the ship . This was free on the Carnival Horizon ship that I went on last year . Carnival called it the "serenity" , it also was an adult area . Don't waist your money , instead go to deck 17 forward and go to the " Retreat pool " also an adult area and free . I do wish there were more cooking type classes . We did a wine tasting class that was nice but there was a charge for this , I think $25 per person , My sister paid so im not sure of the cost. I do need to point out that on this cruise there was a group of over 600 guests with a Polka group . we didn't know this when we booked . This group would have large Entertainment areas and sometimes two areas at the same time closed to only them . this went on all week and had taken what I thought would be Entertainment areas for us as well . No way would they let us in ! Just not right. We paid just as much and from what I understand even more then these guests . In closing, We did have a great time and would take another Princess cruise mostly because of the quality of the food , the live band Entertainment and the age group of the guests. And oh yes , the Captain was funnier then the cruise director . Bye Bye ! Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was 10 days, 6 ports and a good value. We also had only done Carnival before, so we wanted to try something different. WOW!!! We should have made another choice. When we got on the cruise, the captain informed us that an engine was broken, so we would not be able to make it to our first port in time. Well, that broken engine actually created many more problems. We ended up not being able to go to 3 of the 6 ports and all we got for missing those ports was "I'm sorry." They did give us $75 for missing the first port, but nothing for the others. They claimed it was weather related so that they didn't have to pay us any money, except for less than $10 in port taxes. In addition to the broken engine, the service was broken on the ship too. For example, I went to multiple activities that were advertised (basketball tournament, ping pong tournament to name 2). When I got there, me and others waited for a crew member to arrive, but no one did. When I addressed it with the director of activities, she literally replied with "I'll go murder my employees". Her attempt at a joke was condescending at best. So they had very few activities on the cruise and I believe part of that was because most of the cruise was people 65 years and older. We actually had fun with a lot of the people who were at least 20+ years older than us, but it made for a very boring cruise with all activities geared toward that age. The ship had other issues. One of the elevators dropped multiple floors with people in it. The ceiling in the buffet area dropped and almost hit our friend. I had to break up a fight between one of the crew members and a passenger. The tv in our state room didn't work, a worker stole my expensive water container, and I can continue listing more issues. I tried to contact Princess when I got back, I sent an e-mail, I filled out their survey and no one has contacted me. No one has bothered to try and remedy the issues. This was one of the worst overall experiences I have had with any company. Unless they fix these issues and refund us some of the money for missing half the ports and experiencing the other issues, we will never travel Princess again. Read Less

Cruising with my friends, all 65+ I wanted a warm Caribbean destination to escape winter. Due to weather and an engine problem that was known before sailing, we skipped 3 islands out of 5. Princess was nice and gave us credit for future sailings. No complaints there. The food was mostly good to very good. Desserts were disappointing in the buffet. At dinner, they were a little better. The soft serve ice cream, always available on the pool deck is your best bet. And lets talk about the Horizon buffet. Food was varied and tasty (except desserts) but it wins the award for poorest design. As an early riser I have been in there when there are only 6 guests and we were still bumping into each other. Never had that much of a problem on other ships. Just a poor layout. Exercise room has everything you need. The big complaint was it does not open until 7 AM. Also they only have a limited number of exercise bikes which the older Princess crowd needs. They spent a lot of money on spin bikes which are only used once a day for a class while we had to stand in line to get on a conventional exercise bike. Staff was excellent and friendly. Entertainment was just ok. Comedians were good. For a ship built in 2006, I would have expected a smarter design. Big issue was on some stairs/elevators, you can't get to all the lower decks from deck 6 and higher. Even after 10 days, we still sometimes were making the mistake of getting on the wrong stairs. This ship has been converted to one of their Medallion Class vessels. Loved it. Getting on and off ship is a breeze. Had a little bit of trouble setting up but there were plenty of staff to help. No more key card to get in and out of cabin. Also, you can order food and beverage to be delivered to you. The Medallion knows your exact location. You can also find your friends on the ship and an easy to follow map to get you to their location. There is a feature that allows you to "chat" with friends on board. Only complaint is that you have to have the app open and looking at it to see messages from ship board friends. No other notice that someone has sent you a message. You can also see your ship account. When you order your Medallion, which is water proof, a free lanyard to hang around your neck comes with it. Try it, maybe you won't mind it. We did not like it, it was too long and got in the way. We bought the wrist bands on board the ship. Worth the $12 each. Read Less

Went to Rose Bowl Parade and then cruised the Mexican Riviera as add on.. The cruise was enjoyable and the Medallion ships are amazing in terms of convenience. Once you become familiar with the system , it offers instant access to everything the ship has to offer--- but it does take some patience . We were most annoyed with the lack of hand washing as guests entered the restaurants--- and the lack of concern expressed by Princess. We were told that the ships policy was to have staff require hand washing for the first two(2) days of a cruise and then to leave it up to the guests. This policy is ludicrous. After the first two days, a great percentage of guests did not wash their hands--- even after exiting the washroom and entering the restaurant!! Perhaps guests need to contact Princess and demand a higher standard of hygiene on all the cruise lines --- viruses do not take vacations! There certainly was an adequate selection of food choices and what we selected was prepared well. Sure did see a lot of food wasted by passengers who overloaded their plates and then didn't eat it all. Those staffing the dining areas were quick to offer beverages and cleaning up of dirty plates. Since we self-serve ourselves in the buffet it really is important that guests clean their hands so as not to spread germs. It is so easy to pick up an illness off the ship and have it spread like wildfire among the staff and guests. We ate at both the Crown and Sabatini's specialty restaurants and very happy with the service and the food preparation was excellent. These restaurants are certainly worth the service charge. The entertainment had a good variety and we enjoyed it all for the most part. Our favorite was the Voice of the Ocean and congratulate all those contestants who entertained us with their song selection. What an array of talent! The shore excursions offered were of no interest to us. We find the prices are climbing and in some instances the value for the cost is not there. We explored the local areas on our own. We found the staff to be very pleasant and happy to assist if possible. They work tirelessly at their jobs and always with a smile on their faces. We certainly appreciate all they do for each and every guest. The fitness area had plenty of machines and in good working order. The hours were great. Enjoyed the outdoor walking track as well. It would have been nice if water was available while walking the track especially during the hotter parts of the day. We would recommend Princess Cruises but not this particular itinerary. Read Less

We like to take a cruise right after New Years. The fares are excellent and there are some nice perks added, especially with the Medallion program. We are Platinum members having sailed Princess 7 times now. Embarkation was super fast. We were onboard by 11am. This is nice as you really do get an extra day onboard. Like most Princess ships this boat has the same restaurants, bar areas, entertainment and usual shops. We got to our room immediately and even though Edward wasn't quite finished he told us to put our carry on bags in and to go check the ship out. First stop the buffet for lunch. I always do the carving station and it never disappoints. We bought a coffee card prior boarding and that lasted all week. No extra charge for lg or sm coffee drinks or specialty drinks. There is no punch card, you just swipe your medallion. By the way, I recommend getting a sports band when the shop opens, it not as intrusive as the lanyard neckband for Medallion. Never quite got the hang of WIFI using it as you must carry your cell phone everywhere. That's unnecessary and annoying. We had a balcony room all the way forward and it was rocky indeed the first few nights heading to Princess Cay. I like being forward on all cruises but never felt the bumping as hard as on this ship. After St. Martin it seemed much smoother all the way home. We had selected late dining as Princess site listed it as 7:15. Onboard it was 7:45. Much too late, so we met with the Maitre de at 1pm and he changed us from the Concerto DR to Allegro. Lots of empty table as this is also the Anytime DR. Our waiter left such a negative impression on me I never learned his name. He never explained the menu or made recommendations . We easily were in and out within an hour. Including dessert. Service felt rushed and impersonal. I met with the DR supervisor and made him aware, but the waiter never improved his service but the supervisor was all over us. Got annoying after a few nights. Food got a C. The beef Wellington was the best Ive had on a cruise ship but other entrees didn't fare as well. There were two formal nights and of course, the shorts people show up. Rules aren't enforced, but come on, put pants on. Spent nights near the pool as there was a full moon and people watched. Movies shown were Ad Astra , Downtown Abbey, Judy, etc... Didn't do any shows but there was usually great music in the Atrium area. Crooners was always packed and the Bellini bar was nice. we did an excursion thru Princess to St Johns. Ferry to the island then a open bus tour of the island. This guy got no tip from me as the tour was all about him. He went on and on about the Numi Diet or drink that is supposedly a miracle cure. The tree is native to the island and this guy had a pharmaceutical grudge , ranting about the wonders the leaves did for his broken collar bone. He made his point, but left us 20 minutes to sit on the road as he spoke about it. The ride took us past Trunk Beach which looked beautiful and then the ride back to port was so horrifyingly bumpy we all thought we'd need a chiropractor . He left us no time to shop in St. John so I was very disappointed. I can't recommend it. The rest of the cruise was fine, 3 sea days are awesome, met very nice people and then --SURPRISE-- Regal was going into wet dock when we got back to Ft L. Disembarkation was super fast. All in all good. Read Less
