Voyage of the Glaciers

Review for Diamond Princess to Alaska

This was our 2nd Princess cruise and we sailed on the Voyage of the Glaciers Alaska cruise in September 2013. While not a true "sister ship" to our previous cruise aboard Caribbean Princess, its layout and interior design was a very close match. Cabin - We stayed in a balcony cabin, A743, which is starboard aft, only the 2nd cabin in from the back door which leads to the aft pool and then up ...

Once in a lifetime trip.

We have always wanted to see the glaciers and the Alaskan wildlife. Seeing Alaska this way is the only way to do it. The ports are unremarkable, but the scenery is amazing. We had the best possible weather the week we went. We could go ten more times and not have as great a week as we did. This is a once in a lifetime experience. I don't know how people can do this cruise multiple times ...

Magnificent Cruise!

This was our tenth Alaska cruise. We have cruised with four different lines and this was our third with Princess. You must understand that we cruise Alaska for the scenery and the wildlife, not for the food or entertainment. And one thing we have learned is that captains and naturalists do matter. The captain on the Diamond Princess is as good as we have ever had at sea. He personally spotted ...

Outstanding Cruise - completely enjoyed it!

We flew into Anchorage from Seattle on Alaska Airlines. It was a very early flight but we found places to be comfortable at the airport while we waited for the Princess shuttle to Whittier. We were among the first group to check in due to our early arrival so we got the first bus to the ship. Princess has their processes at embarkation down to a science, very efficient, friendly and ...

A thoroughly enjoyable, as well as satisfying experience, on my FIRST

Review for Diamond Princess to Alaska

I booked this cruise through my favorite online site only 5 weeks in advance of our departure. Although the price I paid was a bit higher than I am used to, the $799pp fare, with $200pp in taxes, for a 14 night cruise to Alaska, was still fairly reasonable. (even though some on board paid close to HALF that fare!) The $500 of OBC did make it QUITE satisfying. ($250 for Retired Military and $250 ...

For the most part, it was a wonderful experience. Cherished memories. Memories made within our group. NOT because of Princess staff. The ship and offerings were beautiful and fun. The entertainment was a lot of fun. We enjoyed the movies under the stars. Shows and movie in the Princess theater were a great way to spend the evening. Breakfast at Sabatini's was relaxing and delicious. The service ...

Repeat Alaskan cruise for us but we still loved it

This was my 18th cruise and my husband's 14th. We had previously sailed on the Sapphire Princess on a similar itinerary but that didn't stop us from booking this cruise on a last minute deal. We had an obstructed ocean view stateroom. We could see out the window directly in front of us but the lifeboats obscured any lateral view. We missed the wildlife that one sees from a balcony as one is just ...

Land & Cruise Tour Anchorage to Vancouver

Arrived in Anchorage and stayed at Captain Cook (lovely hotel) transfer from Airport all went well. Two days in Anchorage pre cruise, as we had already been travelling through Canada for 2 weeks (independently) before this section of our trip, we took advantage of the "forward to the ship" luggage and "take with you" Did not know about this until we got to Anchorage which was a shame as if I did I ...

This cruise was our 2nd cruise to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Our first cruise was 5 years ago on Royal Caribbean to the Caribbean. We went to Vancouver for 3 days prior to sailing to see the city. We took a day tour to Victoria and Butchart Gardens and we consider this the best thing we did on the entire vacation. We stayed at the Metropolitan in Vancouver. We arrived at the ...

1st time cruising

It's funny but we have lived in Vancouver all our lives and this is the first cruise we have taken, go figure! Boarding in Vancouver was a breeze, once on board we were settled in our Stateroom and set out to find our way around, the Treasure hunt helped a great deal. The Princess Patter that arrived everyday was a great way for us to find out what was on for the sea days and also what to plan ...
