Traveling to far off places is both exciting and enriching. I can’t think of a much further destination than Australia. While this is not our first visit to Australia, it was our longest. Thirty one days is what we spent in total. Because we fell in love with Sydney on our last visit, we again scheduled a few days stay in this beautiful city at the Westin Inn. We chose this cruise because it circumnavigated the whole continent of Australia. On our last visit, we were at the tail end of a cruise that began in Auckland, New Zealand, and sailed south around that beautiful country, and terminated in Sydney. This cruise allowed us to visit multiple ports as we sailed counterclockwise around Australia. This provided a fascinating overview of the many different geological and commercial venues that adorn this country. A surprise port was in Alotau, New Guinea! Princess Cruises provided numerous opportunities to enjoy excursions in each port of call. There were excursions that all passengers could enjoy. Of course, you have to expect that a particular excursion might be cancelled due to lack of guests signing up. Reimbursements are made in these rare cases. Don’t miss taking the spectacular Skyrail Gondola ride in Cairns, or the Ngilgi Cave trek in Margaret River(Busselton). Entertainment on board featured some of the best musicians that we have ever experienced! Two were especially spectacular, that performed in Crooners Bar Lounge area. They were Pierre Eugene and the Moonlight Duo. Pierre, a pianist from Haiti, sang songs in his mellow, romantic voice, that covered the eras from the 1930’s through the present day. The Moonlight Duo, beautiful young ladies, that played piano and violin, enthralled guests in Crooners as well as in other venues around the ship. I could go on and on, but I’m sure space is limited. Let me end by just stating that Princess made every aspect of this cruise effortless and gracious. Princess remains the number one choice of ocean going cruise lines for us, and we have sailed with quite a few other lines. If you have the time, this will be a cruise of a lifetime, that you will never forget! Read Less

We had heard from many friends how good Princess cruises were so we booked one. The first three days to New Zealand were cancelled because of Cyclone OMA. Staff were caring and efficient . Our cabin boy BILLY could not have more polite or committed to his work. Our cabin was kept in a pristine state morning and afternoon. Food was of a very high standard with many different choices daily. There was no time to get bored with such an interesting array of dishes and different cuisines. Nightly entertainment and shows were varied and extremely well performed. Shore tours were well organised and enjoyable. Our cruise director Lyn was a wonderful ambassador for Princess oozing personality and professionalism. The daily programme was jam packed with interesting and fun things to do. The assistant cruise directors were multi talented and loads of fun as well. We cant wait to book our next cruise on the Sea Princess. Lynda and Fred from BRISBANE Read Less

We had a three day delay and security technical difficulties on boarding with our NZ cruise from Brisbane but Princess Cruises did everything to make it up to us with refunds and discounts. We were so happy with the "crew" everyone was so helpful and friendly. It was hugs all round when we sadly disembarked, just like leaving family. It was as if the "powers that be" said sorry for the delay and here is the best weather you could ever hope for, Seriously it was like cruising on a lake. The cabin was nice and the bed, doona and pillows were so soft, like sleeping on a cloud. I loved the food especially the buffet restaurant and pizza. With three sea days I thought I might be bored and took books, magazines (never read one) and crochet to do but I had SO much I wanted to do and sometimes three things at the same time so it was difficult to choose. I absolutely would go again - we did the same cruise 5 years ago and still I would love to go again. Read Less

Traveled on Sea Princess on a world cruise 2years ago and it was excellent. Recently traveled to Papua New Guinea again on the Sea Princess and felt completely at home again. We like the smaller ships as they are more personal in all services offered. The Conflict Islands on this cruise was excellent and we were lucky to have 2 days there. The cabin staff and restaurants were 5 star. Boarding and leaving the ship was very well organised and stress free. We are hoping to do Circle the Pacific Cruise in 12 months. The Princess Entertainiers was so good and every show was so professional and high quality. The Princess web site was excellent with information for on board activities and managing day to day spending. Internet was easy to access and use. Special mention also goes to the Cruise Entertainiment Manager who was so much fun and a great entertainer in his own right. Well done Mat and will never forget his saying. What are we going have- A GOOD TIME! Read Less

My sister and I live apart and she organised this cruise, my first, so we could enjoy a holiday away together. From the moment we went on board I found the staff and crew very friendly, courteous and only to willing to assist if necessary. The Cruise Director was brilliant, the entertainment was great. Food was delicious, Room service ( cabin boy ) very friendly, helpful and always available. Movie under the Stars was great. Photographers and photo shop staff exceptional, waiting staff excellent. Was plenty of activities to chose from if you wanted or else quiet time in the library or sitting around the pool. The pools and there were plenty to chose from were very clean and well kept and there was plenty of sitting room available around them. Would highly recommend Princess Cruise ship to friends and family and with a bit of luck maybe I will get to do another in the future Read Less

Excellent cruise. The service and entertainment were above average. The shows and games shows were exceptionally well done. Plenty of things to do on board. . The ship was not too small but not too big. Captain, cruise director and crew were the best. Had a lovely time. .Due to a hurricane we got a couple of extra days on board. The captain and cruise director kept us informed about what was happening and made the stay very relaxing. Our cabin was smaller than expected but the bed was beautiful. We went on this cruise to relax and enjoy the ship. It provided that and more. Plenty of different areas to sit and relax. Love the movie under the stars. Food was good and plenty of variety. We have traveled Holland America mostly before but I think I will be considering Princess from now on. Read Less

Over all wonderful experience and only hiccup was we ordered wine pre cruising and when we asked for it they didn’t have it onboard and no other label we knew for similar price. We were credited but then bought wine by the glass to find out the cabinet Sauvignon we were drinking was actually just a red blend for 42 a bottle I didn’t feel this was acceptable. Wouldn’t happen in a restaurant? Also had a few issues with reception having workers who weren’t very fluent in English. We had exceptional service from Matt Baker the cruise director and from our travitor restaurant hostess Xin Rue was certainly a highlight on our experience. Our cabin was kept beautifully and nothing was too much trouble. The destination was wonderful going to Paupa New Guinea even if we missed two of our ports due to weather. We felt the captain was very safe and thought of his passengers first. Entertainment was just the best. Read Less

Very enjoyable 11 night cruise to Papua New Guinea. The ship was great. We really enjoyed the dining experience every night, it was excellent. We could not disembark at two ports due to rough seas but we gained an extra day on conflict islands which was great. You can do any of the shore excursions for a 3rd of price on your own so dont have to do princess ones. Just negotiate with locals at each port. Felt safe there. Visited local hospital in Rabaul which was a highlight as I am a nurse/midwife. Take your own snorkelling gear. All staff were very friendly and helpful. It was an older crowd on board. Not much to do after 11pm but that was ok. The entertainment staff were great. Shame there was no karoake in the bar areas like on most cruises just once in the lounge area. I do recommend princess cruises. All the staff seemed happy and looked after by princess. Read Less

I chose this cruise initially because it left from my home port of Brisbane. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. The Princess cruise ships are A1. You would be hard pressed to find a speck of dust on the ship. The cabin was as clean as a new pin and kept that way throughout the cruise. Dining was excellent, but I was turned away from the steak dinner because I wasn't adequately dressed. But this was no biggie because it would need to be an excellent piece of steak to get me into long trousers and whatnot on a tropical cruise in the South Pacific. Enjoyed the entertainment, but a decent comedian and singers who can actually sing a tune and not screech into the microphone would be a bonus. Movies were good. Activities were great especially the table tennis and carpet bowls. Some shore excursions were curtailed by bad weather but all in all were great. The gym had a good selection of equipment. Footnote: The trivia sessions could be improved by having 3 multiple answers to choose from. Read Less

I have cruised with Princess before and the staff are excelent. The ship is well set out. I always book internal cabins and they are well appointed and kept clean. I like the darkness of the internal room you can sleep in if you stayed up a little too late which we did on most nights. The food is excellent no matter where you dine they always have something for everyone. We celabrated Australia Day on the ship and the Entertainment staff went to all lengths to provide a great day on the pool deck. They had Pie and Pavlova eating competitions, egg and spoon races and the band played great music. The entertainment for the whole cruise was great they cater for all tastes. The staff are super attentive, always there when you require something. They get to know you and what you drink where it is coffee or a cocktail. If you have toured New Zealand by land before you should try it by sea. The coastline is spectacular. We enjoyed all the ports with alot to see and do. Read Less

Our cruise to NZ was wonderful. We love the smaller Sea Princess, especially the promenade deck that allows you to walk the whole way around the ship. As middle age cruisers (47 and 50) we certainly are some of the younger passengers on board, but love to chat with older cruisers and hear their stories. The common complaint that Princess is simply a floating retirement village may technically be true, but take the time to enjoy an older passengers company! We always chose set time dining and had the most wonderful service staff who couldn't do enough for our table of 6. The pizzeria was excellent (as always) and the bar staff were exceptional. A small note - keep an eye on your bill nightly as sometimes drink prices differ between bars. The service desk is always happy to amend this for you. The photography team were brilliant and we left with many more photos than we had planned to purchase originally. Keep an eye out for the specials as you can pick up some great deals towards the end of the cruise. The photography team also run some excellent tutorials in how to get the best from your camera. Well worth the time. We aren't 'show' people and didn't watch a single evening production so can't comment on these, but we did enjoy participating in the day time events that are run by the entertainment staff. There is always something to do, you just have to chose to be involved. Each port day we were off early and then back late. We did our own exploring and didn't purchase shore tours via Princess. There are often comments that Princess are expensive in regards to tours, but if you do find a replica tour elsewhere that is cheaper (and have booked already through Princess), then the price difference is refunded. Worth checking. My only complaint would be about the internet team who unfortunately didn't know their product and were rude in the process. I have learnt for next cruise to do my own research before sailing away. Nevertheless, when I stood my ground they were willing to rectify my incorrect billing. Overall, we couldn't have had a better cruise. Because of weather we did miss Fjordland but were super pleased that the Captain kept us safe and out of harms way. Really, it's just another excuse to cruise again :-) Read Less

Cruising wasn’t high on my to do list. Price and visions of ‘Titanic ‘ came to mind! Then mum and dad shouted the whole family on a 10 day cruise! 15 of us met and boarded smoothly and quickly at Brisbane port. First 2 days at sea gave us a chance to explore the ship. Our internal cabins were small but adequate, (could still swing a cat) had super comfy beds (and I don’t have a great back!) refreshed daily and yummy chocolate on the pillow at night! Nobody goes hungry on a cruise! Food everywhere in endless supply! They met our dietary requirements. Friendly wait staff. Big outdoor movie at night by the pool is a must! Lots of activities throughout the day so study the timetable the night before. We gave Zumba a go to try and reduce the food baby that had developed! Yes I’m unco! Teen club a must!! 16yr old boy not keen. Signed him up on day one.... hardly saw him again! He didn’t want to leave!! Shore excursions relaxing on beaches. Beautiful warm water but really hot the more north we got! Don’t forget you rash top, hat and heaps of sunscreen! Overall I enjoyed my first cruise! Read Less

The captain and his wife of the Sea Princess sat and ate lunch with me in Horizons buffet. Such a beautiful couple. This is why the staff are so beautiful because it comes from the top. Highly recommend Princess Cruises and the 14 night around NZ . Staterooms are wonderful and were cleaned up to 3 times a day. Food was amazing and entertainment outstanding especially MOSAIC. Kids were always happy and had so many activities to do, families around the ship had so many activities to choose from all day long. Bingo, casino, movies, coffee or tea, ballroom classes, Zumba, Trivia Games, Karaoke, dancing in the bars with Mosaic and do much more. When I knew for sure that I would be able to graduate with my PhD in December, my husband and I decided we needed to take a celebratory cruise. We just looked to see where any Princess ship was going that allowed us to be home for Christmas morning with the kids. Lucky for us, the Sea Princess was heading from Brisbane to New Zealand, a place at the top of our bucket list. And it didn't leave until 12/27, allowing us to catch a flight from LA on Christmas night. The first three totally-sea days were all about relaxation and rejuvenation: spa treatments, sleeping in, food I didn't have to prepare (we had just come through Thanksgiving and Christmas at home!), and wandering the ship to learn where everything was. The first sight of NZ were the fiords. Magnificent. We were lucky the little fog we encountered there was not enough to keep us from seeing them all. We found the ports to be full of experiences and places to explore. Our son and daughter-in-law named his cat after Port Chalmers because they had liked it so much when on their honeymoon (kitty's name is Mr. Chalmers, butler in residence...and she's a girl). We agreed. Akaroa was small but gave us some of the most photogenic shots of the trip (the Giant's House is a must-see). Wellington gave us a chance to meet up with cousins who are life long residents. What views and diversity in that city. Napier gave us a chance to work up a sweat walking up the hills to some great views and a visit to the funky prison. At Tauranga, we took the excursion to Hobbitan. Of course! We're huge Lord of the Rings fans. It did not disappoint. Our time in Auckland was used fully...what a great day; there was so much to see: gardens, the sky tower, museums, exhibits, etc. Lots of walking and hills...great. The final three days at sea were spent reading books that were not assigned to me...something I've been dreaming about for a few years now! Everything was super smooth...all transfers, etc. We did some things around the ship (not as much as others I'm sure since we needed to rest) but we did participate in a few things (wine tastings, shows, parties, etc.) and met some people we know we'll be friends with all our lives. All in all...a perfect way to end/start the year and a very long educational journey. And, just when you think what a bummer it is that it's over, you have to disembark--kind of sad. But the disembarkation process couldn't have gone any smoother so we were fine with getting back to reality. I would be happy to share some of my fabulous pictures (I can't upload them here because they are on my phone, not on my computer yet.) Just tell me where to send them. I kept up a blog-type running commentary with pics while away for the many people I have (a couple hundred) who follow me while I travel. Their comments were so encouraging--they were enthralled and many have put the cruise and the destination on their bucket list. Read Less

Papua New Guinea was of historical interest as my father fought there in WWII. Alotau and Rabaul were of particular interest to us, we booked shore tours off the ship and can thoroughly recommend them. And Kitava, Kiriwina and Conflict Island were all beautiful with really good snorkelling and swimming. Both embarkation and disembarkation were very easy and quick, and our cabin was ready for us straight away. We chose traditional dining so ate in the same dining room each evening with the same people. Our stewards were amazing and very attentive. The food was great, and there was always something on the menu to suit individual tastes. The shows at the Princess Theatre were varied, some were great others not so much, plenty of seating but the earlier show time filled up quickly. Movies under the Stars was very enjoyable and a nice relaxing way to spend a few hours. We really enjoyed the whirlpool spas and pool on deck 14 at the back of the ship, adults only, lots of sunlounges, and quieter than the main pools and spas. Our cruise was over Christmas so the ship was decorated beautifully, very festive. Overall a very enjoyable 11 night cruise, can definitely recommend it. Read Less

We chose to cruise on the Sea Princess as it was a smaller ship for our first cruise and We had read good reviews. All our expectations have been fulfilled. The crew & staff were friendly, helpful & always with a smile. The balcony cabin was spacious & comfortable. Dining was a feast of amazing variety & quality. We were entertained day & night by concerts, comedians and carolers ( Xmas cruise). Most of the shore excursions were educational & enjoyable, especially meeting & talking to the villagers & children. The ship decor was beautifully decorated with lots of very comfy places to lounge in. You can do as much or less as you want, even room service was a treat after a long day. We have already booked another cruise, again on the Sea Princess and have told our friends of our great experience, with all positive views. Disembarkation was less hassle than embarking on the ship, but perhaps that was because it was our first venture into port check in. Loved ‘ Movies Under The Stars’ up on the pool deck, views of sunrises from our balcony, and suppers at Horizons food court after a show. Thanks Sea Princess. Read Less

We have sailed with Princess for 9 voyages, 8 of which were on Sea Princess. Every cruise has been filled with friendly outgoing staff, from the Head Waiters right thru to the Cabin Stewards. We were on the ship straight away and this time our luggage was there about 5 minutes after we arrived. We have had a balcony on every cruise but 1 and would have to recommend these cabins, they are spacious with fridge and a great balcony for some private moments. The entertainment is first class with something for every one's taste. We always go with the traditional dinning, because it allows us to get to know our servers and fellow passangers at our table. Well worth considering. In all the times we have cruised with Princess we have never had one complaint about the service we receive. The staff- even though they have to deal with some INTERESTING clients-always come through with dignity and respect ( much more than I would have). We do not do many of the excursions, but have heard a lot of positive comments. We do not travel with children, but think they must be well looked after because, when we do see them on the ship, they seem to be having a great time. We have only cruised on one other line, and they do not compare to Princess. We wil continue cruising-but only with Princess- for many years to come. Read Less

Entertainment was good, (Freddy Mercury impersonator the very best), but other shows were quite good as well. Restaurant was good for Breakfast lunch and dinner although we will need to go on a diet now as we just could not turn back any of the fabulous food on offer (Challenge was accepted). Cabin was spacious and very well positioned on deck 8 which was handy to almost everywhere we wanted to go. Embarkation and de-embarkation was a breeze and reasonably quick with no hassles. The bed comfort was the best I have ever been on, they usually are so hard and put my back in spasms but this was exceptional cloud like comfort. So many restaurants and coffee shops to choose from, and so many areas on the ship to relax in peace and quiet. This ship is so big that even fully booked and at maximum capacity we never had to line up for anything. My only advice when booking a cruise is always look up when the boat was built it doesn't matter how many refurbs its had 30 yr old aircon and 30 yr old plumbing will ruin any cruise. I will never sail on an old cruise ship again majestic princess was built only 1 yr ago. It's my new favourite cruise ship. I will definitely be going back.. Read Less

Just cruised on Majestic Princess from Brisbane to Sydney (2nights). This cruise was fantastic and not long enough. We had an inside cabin which was roomy enough and beds are very comfortable, but pillows not so comfortable so glad I bought my own. I have many food allergies & intolerances & this is the first time I have eaten at the buffet & specialty restaurants as the staff were very knowledgeable & could explain the ingredients in each dish & chefs could easily modify menu options to suit my needs even coming up with options not on the menu. It made my experience all the more enjoyable. As normally this would be a very stressful experience for me. This cruise ship was very relaxing & the hydrotherapy pool helped improve my tight muscles. Despite what it says, this was a two day cruise from Brisbane to Sydney. We chose this cruise to test what Princess was like after a less than favourable cruise on P&O last year. I can now say that Princess leaves them far behind even though they are both owned by the same company. The big difference is food. Princess retains the traditional buffet in which there was plenty of variety and mostly good quality. Sea Princess also has free pizza which for some inane reason P&O does not. Good quality pizza it is. We had a quad room for 4 adults. It was cosy but only for two nights. We found that the ship seemed to have more motion than others we have been on (Dawn & Solstice). Although the seas were almost calm there was some noticeable shuddering and swaying. We had one main dining room meal which was top class. Servings were on the small side but you could order more meals if you wished. Ending at White Bay in Sydney is a pain.
