Chose this cruise purely to sail through the Fjords of New Zeland and set up 1TB of memory on a brand new phone at huge expense to record it all.. We took a new $400 massager for pre existing ailments which got confiscated at embarkment. All meals are extremely sub par, tasteless and repetitive...hope you like pork..Bacon is always hard ..ALWAYS..The meals you pay for in the total price are terrible but if you want to eat a nice meal then add $35 and you get fantastic ,small but yummy lobster tail and a steak they try to convince you is fillet, although it's 8mm thick and tastes nothing like a fillet steak. Service is excellent..About 1 in 10 of the staff smile..those that do are wonderful others seem as if it's a burden.. Cups are ridiculously small.. Flavour of coffee tea and juices are ok. 24 hour food options are an absolute joke..saw many go, look and leave.. Everyone you spoke to onboard had negative things to say about the food quality and lack of decent selection to room service and 24 hour bar. We didn't dock at 1 port and also due to weather the captain turned the ship back and we never went to the Fjords.. 3 days at sea and room service had me waiting on the phone 20mins then it just hung up on me..this happened twice.. Room service soup portions are extremely tiny..it would take about 8 to fill my bowl at home. Beds and pillows are exquisite. Our room server is called Manu and is outstanding and extremely accommodating .. Toilet has blocked twice and not flushed about 8 times so far.. That was sooo embarrassing.. Internet has upgraded mid trip to the new beaut fast perfect medallion class..it is excellent.. Large t.v. is ok BUT you CANNOT IN ANY WAY stream your own content on it or connect your phone or tablet or laptop via Bluetooth, HDMI or any cable for that matter, or wifi.. You are stuck with the very very small option choices available...decent choices but so few of those.. I was looking forward to sitting in a heated spa and watching movies under the stars... Well they net off the pool and spas late afternoon and you CANNOT access them!! Was ghe whole point of the ship experience.. The entertainment is boring but I understand why as it caters to the elderly who are 95% of the passengers. Average age is 60's to 70's. First night comedian ,everybody said, got pity laughs..I knew most of the punchlines from his stolen material before he said them. Dance shows look like high school musicals and singers wouldn't get far on "the voice". Very average entertainment indeed. Showers are excellent for pressure and temperature control.. Ship presents well.. Hotdogs are great.. Pizzas are a joke as you only get 2 toppings and they are so plain and flavorless.. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON A DRINKS PACKAGE.. Just to break even I would have to be able to drink 210 stubbies of beer in under a fortnight AND be able to go on all the shore excursions ..remember its only worth it if your gunna drink all day EVERY DAY. The shops sell everything at a huge markup ..one example is their binoculars which are $45 to $49 online are over $150. Captain said the pools were getting drained due to swell. The elevators take forever..the buttons to close the doors don't work.. The casino falsely posts the tables are $2 tables but forces you to make $10 minimum bets ..I am a very experienced casino player and have never seen a table say $2 minimum and have it explained as," That just means they are $2 chits but you have to use 5 of them minimum". They clearly have just began this facard as there were a few confused croupiers as well .. And the cherry on the top.. They added the princess logo as an extra place on the roulette table with 2 zeros..money hungry greedy casino that took any fun out of it. I love casinos..Avoid this one as they stacked the odds against the player far more than usual and as it's only during international waters that they are open, they are governed by NO LAWS.. People go on princess to get away from kids as we saw maybe 8 the whole ship coz there's nothing to do.. Bring your own entertainment As for destination ,it is the weather that determines at the last minute if you can go or not.. You pay for accomadation and food and there are no refunds.. I've had positives to say but mostly negitives.. 2 years planning 1 years saving 3 days in bed coz nuffin to do..here's an example of there onboard "entertainment" Went to a darts "tournament".. Loads of 'board out of our scones blokes showed up to play darts...were blokes ...love darts.. All wondering if its teams like pub darts.. Will it be 501?..Shanghai ? So excited... "Ok everybody put names down here and as I call your name throw 3 darts and go for highest score". .maybe highest score starts??...NO!!! Step up twice and add both scores together...done that.. Ok Joe Blo got highest score and is the winner...seeya folks.. I had 2 goes and that was the much anticipated "darts tournament". Everybody was dissapointed saying "is that it". But everything ends in "was that it?" Overpriced and underserved.. 11 grand we paid for 3 nice shore cruises nice scenery and crap food.. Read Less

First ever cruise with princess line, all I can say is that we were very disappointed from start to finish. The list is to long for me to write about, it started from getting on the boat until we disembarked. The room was great, the food was a joke !! I don’t think I’ll ever travel on the princess line again . Have been on many other cruises before but this one was a huge disappointment. How the hell can you run out of food 3 days running, not have the wine you drinks on board, even though it’s on the wine lists , waiting for nearly 2 hours for our entrees in the crown grill, not having a blender at the bar to make iced coffees that were on their bar drinks list , and the list goes on. Better step it up Princess line , you’ve lost me as a customer, and I’ve done 7 cruises this year , no more with you... Read Less

I will preface this review by stating I have been on over 28 cruises. I've sailed just about every cruise line out there or sold it while I was a travel agent. I Just returned from 18 days on the Ruby Princess. We boarded in Auckland, which was the last 8 night leg of the reposition cruise that started in Vancouver. We Stayed on for a continuation cruise of 10 days which did round trip Sydney. We had cruised on Princess twice in the past. Once in 2006 which was a great experience and again in 2010 which was not great! We had no idea what to expect from this experience. Unfortunately, it was a lot more not great than the one in 2010! This ship is just plain old and what I would call a rust bucket! There is no coat of paint that is going to make this sad ship up to what Princess claims it's standards are. The balconies are rusted out as well as all the sprinkler heads. Whenever I walked on the outer decks I looked up and saw rust. When we got a close up of the ships body while we were boarding the tenders, you could see just how horrible it was. There are tons of coats of paint chipping away, marks all over and just plain ugly. The cabin and deck furnishings are all very outdated and worn. There are two plugs in the entire cabin! One by the vanity and one up near the ceiling, above the corner cabinet. I heard many people complaining about the lack of places to plug phones and electronics. If you need a sleep apnea machine, be sure to bring a long extension cord because it has to travel quite a ways for a plug. The standard balcony cabin is about the smallest I've seen in the past 7 years or so. There is a vanity chair and that's it! I can't remember when I've been in a balcony cabin without a couch. This was the poorest choice I could have made for 18 days at sea. There was enough space in the closet and cabinet for all our clothes. The bathroom was the standard telephone booth size with cracked shower floors and moldy shower curtain. The shower head does not come off the wall so it made it that much more difficult to shower. We had not issues with the plumbing but many people on the Deck 12 were complaining about toilet issues and water being turned off for lengths of time. The cabin Stewards and Dining room staff were about the best I've seen at sea which is true to form for what Princess once was. They were always the most pleasant people on the ship. I will note that we did not get one towel animal which I guess is something they have stopped. Not a big deal at all, just something that surprised me. For the most part the Horizon buffet staff was also excellent. They attended to the tables and delivered drinks without ever having to ask. I did encounter a few of the food attendants that did not seem to like their jobs very well. I've been on other ships where they allow the guests to put their own toast through the toast machine so you can have hot toast. The Carnival products seem to think we are not capable of toasting our own bread so they have a person on each side of the buffet just running toast through the machine. They toast giant stacks of bread and then bring them to the warming trays. For 15 days I had rubber toast! On the 16th day I asked for hot english muffins out of the toaster. You would have thought that woman was going to have to go in the basement, bake the muffins then toast them. She kept telling me the toast in the bins was fresh and I needed to take it from there. This annoyed me more than most other issues we had. It was a simple request that I made very nicely. This is one of the main reasons I will not choose to EVER cruise on Princess again. Sounds unreasonable, but everyone has their breaking point! There was not a person that we met in the 18 days that did not agree with us that the food was terrible. Sauces were heavy and over salted. One comment I kept hearing was "there is a whole lot of brown food on that buffet!" Everything was swimming in a sauce. Many of the carving meats were over cooked and dry. They served various kinds of flat fish every day but they were prepared everyday the same way, drowned in butter or oil. The buffet breakfast was just a disgrace. The way they prepared that food was a crime. They would have trays of fried eggs on a warming dish for hours. They were dried out to the point of feeling like hockey pucks. You couldn't find one egg with a running yoke. The same thing with the eggs Benedict. They were all hard boiled....every single day! It really is a sin that they destroyed so much good food. The scrambled eggs were all chopped up so small it was like eating cottage cheese. The only saving grace was the omelet station. You needed lots of time for that though! They had no cream at all for the coffee. It was all skim or regular milk. Just about everything was so budget and you could tell. The specialty steak restaurant was a joke. If that was supposed to be like a fine steakhouse, they missed that mark by a mile. I got a steak that was less than 1/2" thick and tasted like a salt lick. I specifically asked for little to no seasoning, but that was something they just paid no attention to. The baked potato was dry and like a rock. The whole experience was horrible. The regular dining room food was hit or miss. Some nights they would have a decent amount of choices, none of which were tasted that great. Most nights there were no choices we would eat. They did NOT have a steak on the "every night" menu. I have never been on a cruise where you could not get a steak in the dining room every night if you choose. At the bottom of the menu they have choices of good food for an extra cost of between $20 to $40. That's something I've never seen before either. It's like, if you want good food, you will now have to pay extra for that. If it was anything like the steakhouse, it wouldn't be worth it anyway. I can't imagine paying extra for any of the crap they served. The entertainment was not too bad on the 8 night Auckland to Sydney part of the cruise. Once they changed over to and "Australian" cruise line (all the money went to aud) for the Sydney round trip, the entertainment went right down the tubes. It was horrible. The singers were ancient, the comedians were old and Princess dancers would have a hard time performing on the stage with the Norwegian cruise staff. The best part of any of the entertainment was the games shows, etc. put on and run by the cruise director and staff. However, they held them all in rooms that were too small so if you did not get there at least 30 minutes ahead of each even, you were not going to get a seat. Many nights our dinner ran late and we could not go to an event because we could not sit. The worst part of the entire cruise was the fact that almost all the ports in Australia are tender ports. Princess is either too cheap or too stupid to have gotten large ferries in all the ports. They had a system where you went down to a showroom at a time they announced in the morning to get a number to get off the ship on to a tender that would take you to a port. If you are an elite member, no problem. They take all elite members off first. If you have a million dollar tour that you purchased through Princess they took you off on the tenders first as well. If you just wanted to go to shore or booked your own excursions through viator or other wholesaler you were out of luck for getting off that ship in less than 2 hours. In one port we were unable to get off the ship until 11:30am. We arrived in port at 7:00am!!! It was ridiculous. One day many people never even got off the ship. By the time their number was called they felt it was too late to get off. The tenders took about 40 minutes each way on most the stops. Finally, after many angry shouting matches, there were Ferry tenders in two of the stops. It still took forever to get off, but at least we didn't miss our excursion. By the way, something we noticed was they NEVER looked at your tender number! The average shore excursion cost over $175 per person and that was for a 4hour tour. Most tours were 8 hours or more and cost in excess of $275. Princess was charging $479pp for The alpine express excursion from Christchurch to Arthur's pass. It included a bus from the port to Christchurch which was about an hours drive. The train, if purchased directly costs $149.00!! This is just robbery. Princess gets away with it because they scare the life out of everyone by telling them if you don't take a Princess cruise, you might miss the boat on the return. Many tour operators will guarantee to get you back to the ship on time or get you to the next port if you miss the boat because of them!!! Look around and compare! This cruise ship staff created so many situations where guests were made to wait in lines and get angry. They didn't even have an organized line at the guest services. Many days people started yelling and fighting because guests would just walk up to the counter and ignore the lines. I've never seen a ship run more poorly than this one. When they turned over to the Australian Dollar from US Dollars in Sydney, no one at the front desk knew how to convert the currency. I was given an amount and then called in my room to come back to the guest services because they gave me too much money.....that was after it took them over an hour to figure out what they did give me. It took over 4 days for them to get most of the casino slot machines up and working after departing from Sydney. I couldn't imagine how much money they lost because there were no machines to play. It was just crazy. I'm not sure who is responsible for most of what goes on aboard that ship, the Captain or headquarters but someone should be fired! Read Less

My father died during the cruise and I needed to amend my travel arrangements. The front desk staff were terrible and it took over 3 days to sort new departure arrangements. I received conflicting information from onboard Front desk staff and onshore Princess staff. Princess gave no credit for existing return flight and I had to pay for a new full fare that was exchanged from Aust$ to US$ to NZ$. The air carrier advised my family that Princess as travel agent had full discretion in making no or little penalty charges to travel. No discretion was applied. I would not recommend Princess on this basis. There was relentless onboard promotion for buying jewellery (Effy) and artworks which was tedious. Food was good and plentiful, entertainment was a bit ho hum - one comedian was absolutely dreadful and the second relied on old hack and tired women-as stupid content. There were two production shows which were excellent. Musicians played similar and in a lot of cases the same songs (how many times can you listen to Hey Jude?!) Onboard activities were limited with the same things recycled through the cruise - movies (same movies returned too frequently); bingo; quizzes (I'm a quiz fan but the same format and type of questions were used across three quiz events, and the events were bumped in face of venue conflict); demonstrations such as cocktail making was view only. Cards as an activity was good (bridge; 500) as there were a fair number of people interested therefore plenty of opportunity to play. However this was organised by participants. I feel entertainment staff often opted out of organising activities, so it dependent on participants to get things going. Venues appeared to be mismanaged in that the act and or audience size wasn't appropriate to the particular venue used. Enrichment activities were limited to forensic topics (potentially good however presenter was poor and used promotional material as evidence) and others were directly linked to the sale of jewellery and artworks. Did two excursions - whole day Moorea swimming and snorkeling which was excellent and the LA Venice Beach and Santa Monica visits. Definitely wouldn't recommend Venice Beach as a destination (old; tired; dirty; broken; grotty) but Santa Monica was nice to walk around (shops; pier; beach) Read Less

Chose this cruise because it had an associated land tour after the cruise. The major issue was neither the cruise or land tour. It was what Princess did during booking. We booked a room almost one year before the cruise on deck 14 (room 505) with a balcony on the starboard side after much research. After everything was paid and approximately 45 days before the cruise they gave our room away without our knowledge or permission. We didn't learn this until we were printing the boarding pass which showed a room on deck 9 starboard aft. We called both Princess and our travel agent requesting our original room back. Princess said this was an upgrade and refused to give it back and our agent said she would have to get permission from the new people. They didn't get our approval why theirs? Anyway after many calls and arguments they finally gave us a room on deck 14 but it was not a location we wanted. It faced the aft of the ship and the location was similar to one we had on another cruise and didn't like. We couldn't cancel for two reasons, the cancellation charges and other plans we had booked before and after this cruise. So we accepted their room offer, but they will never get another cruise out of us. Now for the ship itself. Food was mediocre at best in the buffet and the La Mer restaurant which was the only specialty restaurant we visited. The buffet started shutting down food lines around 6:30 pm each night. They also closed off 1/4 of the buffet twice during the cruise for a Crab Shack specialty night restaurant. Next one port required tenders. There wasn't enough tenders to get the 3500+ people off the ship in a timely manner. Also it took an extra hour beyond the posted return time to get the people back on the ship. A ship this large doesn't need to do ports that require tenders. During the cruise and land tour we discussed these issues with travel agents and people which have done many Princess cruises, most of them were appalled with this cruise. We have done over ten cruises with different cruise lines and this was the second worst ever. Never again! Read Less

So I have been on many cruises in the past. Princess cruises was my first cruise ever in fact. I had nothing to compare it to at the time so I loved that cruise. My kids were very young so I had no real time for entertainment then. I have cruises on carnival, royal Caribbean and Norwegian and all of those are fun. Princess is the most boring cruise I have ever been on. There was nothing going on ever. I brought teenagers with us and they were bored out of their minds which was really disappointing since I spent so much money on this cruise. For the first time in my life I couldn’t wait until this cruise was over and I have never felt that before. They cater to old people and people who like quiet refined entertainment. Lots of orchestra bands playing everywhere always!!! It was annoying to say the least. On sea days there was no entertainment besides outdoor movies or playing your own cards or board games. Many people reading all over the ship. That says a lot about the kind of cruise ship this is. BORING!!!! The service is great, the staff is friendly for the most part but if you are under 60 and if you like to have fun, this is not the ship for you! Evening entertainment was just as dismal as the day with many classical musical shows and very few upbeat events anywhere to be found. Read Less

I didn't pick this cruise; I was dragged into it. I suppose cruises are ok if you don't mind all the people and waiting for stuff. This ship is showing its age (chipped finishes, torn carpets, etc.). We had a balcony cabin; my RV has more space, including the kitchen. It was hard to figure out what to go do, as they didn't post the day's activities until the morning of; we missed a couple of things because they weren't posted (found out about them later from other folks). Went to a couple of "Production" shows; they were ok, but geared to really old folks (we're 70). All the crew is very polite, but really clueless as to what's going on outside of their area; we couldn't find anyone to tell us about the activities on board. Instructions for the shore excursions were very minimal - you better show up at the designated spot and get in line; very few details about the excursions themselves. I guess the best part was the food; very well done and presented, sit down service was excellent, although a little slow at times (I suppose that's the point). They did have a fitness center, but no trainers. The pools were closed most of the time, and cold when they were open. This did it for me, I'm never going on a cruise again. Read Less

Chose this cruise because of a 2 for 1 deal and I'm glad I didn't pay full price! It was my first cruise but I received no help or direction from staff during embarking the ship. We had to find our own way around. The ship was old and slow. Captain announcements dragged on for ages and interrupted conversations, relaxation and sleep. Cabins were ok if you didn't want to spend any time in them otherwise they were stuffy as air conditioning didn't seem to work. Dining was limited as seating wasn't great and service from kitchen was slow. Some wait staff were great but majority useless. Very little entertainment on board and activities were age appropriate so not suitable. Singles and solos get togethers were crammed with couples and families. Service was generally non-existent. Staff were bored and paid little attention to guests. Port time were too limiting and shore excursions overcrowded and time consuming. Read Less

After a two week holiday in New Zealand for mum, dad and three children, I had planned to take mum and the kids on a short voyage back to Sydney on the Sun Princess. I have been on a few cruises but mum and the kids had never sailed on a cruise before. I thought that a four day voyage would give them a sample and perhaps if they liked it, we would be able to take a cruising holiday in the future. Unfortunately, as we were ascending the ramp in Auckland our noses were assaulted by an awful smell like that of sewage, such as that from a septic tank. I said that we should hurry up and get on the ship to escape it. But guess what; the smell was coming from the ship, not the ramp. Some parts of the ship were free of the smell. Our rooms were on Baja deck and my son and I were in a cabin which was only a short distance from my other half and my two daughters and our cabin was free of the smell. Unfortunately, the mini suite occupied by the girls was affected very strongly. My daughters disliked it but were not sick. The missus though, felt quite ill for most of the journey and threw up several times. She could not eat for most of the time so missed out on the delicious meals that the rest of us were able to enjoy. We complained to the sympathetic cabin steward who told us that many other people were also suffering from the stench and that the crew were attempting to fix the problem. He suggested that we leave the windows open, but it was too hot and humid for that. The promenade deck forward on the starboard side was also badly affected by smell and though also terrible, it was slightly different, although it still smelled like sewage. This made it unpleasant to use the deck to walk around for some excercise. Just about everything else about the voyage was good. For the first couple of days we dined in the Marquis restaurant, but we soon decided that the buffet was much better and didn't return to the restaurant. There was a greater variety of food to be had in the buffet and it was excellent. Also the smell was not evident in the buffet though it was in the dining room, though not to such an extent as in the mini suite. There was a very good variety of movies and entertainment both on the big screen or on the tv in the privacy of the cabins. The swimming pools were just the right temperature for us and were never crowded so we spent quite a bit of time in them. Everything was as good as it could be apart from the smell. Now it looks as if we will not be taking another cruise. The kids and I said that we would like to, but the missus does not want to risk that, and I would not put her through such an ordeal again so I guess that's the end of that. Read Less

A trip on memory lane did us decide to take a 4 weeks cruise on the Sun Princess, it was the first ship we ever cruised on in 2005 so we thought we new the ship. Now after almost 13 year it was not the same anymore. We fluw al the way from Holland to Sydney a long trip. We stayed two days in Sydney before the cruise, but the next morning we heard by coincedence, the ship would say a day later, never got any message from Princess, nothing, just from here say. So we had to book another night in a hotel. We sailed the next day, the cruise was around New Zealand, back to back Sydney. the first stop was cancelled because off the late departure from Sydney. We had a somewhat unfriendly steward, but yeah you cannot be everybodies friend. After the first 14 days we had to move to an other cabin, okay no problem. We had to go true trnsit to go back on the ship, two hours standing and waiting for the clearence to go back to the ship. The second cruise was the dream of my husband, the Fiji islands. From the 8 stops we saw three, the first two were beautyfull bounty islands lovely weather swimming in the bay. The third was Suva, that was a dirty ugly harbour the smell was awful. We stayed for an hour outside it was not a nice city. The next two stops were because of the weather not to approach with tenders so we did not see these islands. We just went by. After these islands more people began to feel sick, the flu was onboard, noro virus also. We both got the flue, got 5 days quarentine and had to see what to eat and drink from roomservice. That was not nice. A bill from the doctor off $800,00 was the result. Nice thank you. We had a week to recover becauce our trip was not over after 4 weeks, that did not work. This vacation was a special trip, my 65 birthday. I blame Princess Cruises for the sickness on board, in the 4 weeks we were on the ship I never saw anyone from housekeeping to clean the toilets floor with a mop. Not once. In de corners was a brown line smelt and it was indeed pis. The toilets were under maintanance or very smelly the ladie that clean the toilets wipe with a dry cloth the lid of the toilet flushed it and that was all. The toilets at the pool, It was a Nightmare. Pis everywere, at the last day we went out friends off ours stayed for another cruise, they were all asked to leave the ship and dont come back till 5:00 PM big cleaning maybe? It was a cruise never to forget but not because we enjoyed it. The ship is so dirty its a shame the asked the money they did. Read Less

After sailing with other cruise lines in the past and having a blast, we decided to sail with Princess for the first time due to the itinery they offered over the holiday period. Biggest mistake I have ever made. I don't normally complain and have spent just as much time writing raving reviews on here about our other great cruises, but this was a disaster. We checked our bags in at the luggage drop off at 10 am and went and did some final shopping in Auckland and then checked in to the ship at 12pm. Check in and embarkation was quick and smooth. 2 of our three bags arrived sporadically throughout the day. Cabins are much smaller than we are used to and showers are tiny so don't even think about this ship if your a bigger person. 6 pm and our bag still hadn't arrived. After several requests to our cabin steward and the ship due to leave the dock I was told "don't worry" by our steward with quite a bit of attitude. As the ship was pulling out I call the steward to ask him to find out if my bag was at least on the ship, to this again the response I got was "don't worry". At this stage I was worried and was fed up with his flippant attitude and asked him to find my bag as this was the luggage that had all of our clothing. No more than 2 minutes later there was a knock on our stateroom door where our cabin steward was standing with our missing bag which he felt the need to throw at me and walk off without saying a word. I was dumbfounded, and contacted passenger services to complain about what had happened. And we hadn't even left the heads yet. Let's just say the service didn't get any better. The ship ran out of white wine on day 2 of a 12 day Christmas new year cruise. Most of the bars closed at 7pm and others didn't open till 5 forcing you to walk half the ship to get a drink. One afternoon I was in the Churchill lounge reading a book and felt like a drink so had to go to the casino as it was the closest bar open and asked for a glass of Pino Grigio. The girl behind the bar quite sharply responded " we don't have any" and after looking me up and down added " the only bottle of white wine we have here is $70 a bottle", as if I couldn't afford it. As we were travelling with my partners family we decided to try Vivaldi's on night 2, the head waiter was extremely rude and denied us entry to a half empty restaurant because we were on anytime dining. Last I was led to believe anytime dining means "anytime". We did find out later that Vivaldi's is the only restaurant on board that has a policy of anytime starting at 8:15pm, however the waiter should have handled it much better. All the staff with very few exceptions, seemed like it was an effort and a hindrance to carry out the simplest of tasks. Christmas Day was a non event apart from Santa being in the atrium for 2 hours for the kids in the morning there was nothing special organised. Christmas lunch was had in the buffet and the only thing that even made it slightly Christmassy was sliced ham. Dinner was a bit better with sliced turkey and pudding in the dining rooms, which made a few people on the ship, including me, sick. The choice of food was non existent throughout the cruise and felt like we ate the same things for 12 whole days and the anytime dining rooms all served the same food, which we found out later is not normally the case. The dining rooms were also extremely hot and overheard severally passengers complain. The wait staff were clumsy and frequently got orders wrong. We did, however, participate in the chefs table, which I would highly recommend as it's well worth the money. New Year's Eve also bearley happened. The top decks were blocked off from about 8 pm so no acces to the forward smoking area was allowed and all of the outdoor bars closed at 7pm. We thought we'd try sabatinis (a $25 per head specialty Italian restaurant) for New Years. Food was good but found out later that evening that the same menu was served in the anytime dining rooms at no extra charge so I would like to know what we paid the extra for. The only thing organised was a ballon drop which went off early so we missed it. The atmosphere was less than celebratory. The only place to go was skywalkers nightclub which again was way to hot and the crew pretty much took over the club once their shifts finished. It was the first New Years ever that I bearley made the countdown before I went to bed, extremely disappointed. The entertainment onboard is certainly left to be desired, if you could find it at all. There was nothing on the open decks and the quality of what was available was ammiature. For the first time ever we actually considered disembarking early. The final straw for us was on the last night. I cracked my head open getting into the pool. After having it attended to by a paramedic and being told it only required a few band aids, woke up the next morning to a blood soaked pillow. I went down to the medical centre to have it looked at before disembarking to be greeted with " oh YOUR the guy from last night" with a snide tone. After being assessed by the nurse, who was one of the few polite people on board the doctor came in and assesed the wound. Never before have I been judged so much in my life. After a clean up and some steri strips the head of security came in. Let me tell you this guy needs a job in Guantanamo Bay. Falling short of calling me a lier, he stormed out and slammed the door. I have never been so humiliated in my life. Oh and they charged me $200 for the experience. This was the worst holiday of my life and will never travel with Princess Ever again, and if you want to enjoy your holiday that you spend your hard earned money on, I suggest you don't either.
